Hi guys.
Look at this:
Standby time:
Up to 450 hours for UMTS
Up to 400 hours for GSM
Talk time:
Up to 4 hours for UMTS
Up to 7 hours for GSM
And I am asking...how can it be?!
How can it be that in UMTS mode the battery lasts longer than in GSM? (standby)
and in talk time GSM is almost doubled than UMTS.
I am thinking maybe to set my phone to GSM, to save some battery.
By the way, how long can your TC battery last? I think mine will last 24 - 36 hours without charging. = ( Not sure how come?
Yeah I never trust what manufacturers say about standby time. If I had my Cruise with everything turned off, including phone and screen, I don't think it will last for 450 hours, that's over 18 days.

Surely all have noticed that the officially announced Talk Time is longer than Standby Time under normal conditions!
According to HTC the readings are: -
Talk time:
Up to 378 minutes for WCDMA
Up to 419 minutes for GSM
Standby time:
Up to 462 hours for WCDMA
Up to 367 hours for GSM
Could this be real as for the Standby to be shorter than talk time?
i think you have got the minutes and hours thing confused. standby time is in hours, talk time is in minutes
Actually there are 60 minutes in 1 hour
lol sorry...
As announced by HTC, Talk time is 419 for GSM vs. Standby 367 for GSM!
Could talk time be less battery drainer than standby?
no, talk time is in minutes, standby time in hours
so
367 hours standby time
but only
419 minutes talk time
Oooops!
... didn't notice that
it pretty differs in real
Which battery do you advise for Diamond, besides the 900mAh original one?
How long do your´s 900mAh last?
My standard battery lasts about 3 days with 3G turned off, if I leave it on, it depends on the 3G signal, where I work it will kill the battery in about 8 hours. At home I have good HSDPA signal, it will last for 1.5-2 days.
The 2000MAh battery I bought has so far lasted me about 4 days and is about 45%, with 3G on and manual checking of emails, moderate phone calls and lots of playing with the menu. I recommend it to anyone who is not bothered by the 'hump' it creates on the back of the phone.

depends what u use it for.
i use my standard battery most of the time, as when at work its plugged into my PC, when in the car its in a holder charging and at home its on charge over night.
if i'm away somewhere, then i swap for a lumpy 1800mAh battery, which lasts about a week.
Mine is great

it depends by phone usage...
battery consumption is worst in 2g and best in 3g during standby, and is worst in 3g and best in 2g during conversation!
it also depends by radio installed..
this is how i use it....

Fully charging the battery about 3 hours in the night.....
I listen some music during the day, starting at 8am using Windows Media, almost at 5pm the battery dies if i don't recharge it during the day.
This is using the standard battery, and receiving aprox. 6-10 calls of 4 mins. with the Bluetooth turned on, checking mail using the wireless 1 hour before 5pm.
With standard Diamond 900mAh battery.
I get about 2-3 days use with B/T and WiFi off, about 4 calls x 5 mins each per day, 3G on.
B/T will reduce it by a few hours, so 2 days max.
WiFi will reduce it to max 8 hours - only use when needed.
3G poor signal will reduce it by about 1 day.
Call time uses up battery at ~20x the standby time. So a 2hr confcall is enough to kill it.
That's the experience so far over 6 months.
Well I use the extended battery and with moderate usage the battery lasts for 3 days without problem. GPS Fix is excelent, cover finish is great as well .
Im new to the Droid 2 Global, but not new to the Android platform (I came from the Samsung Vibrant and helped out with TeamWhiskey's ROMs) This is the first I have seen an Android Phone charge in an hour and 15 mins! And hold an Idle charge for 48 hours! Is this normal?
Mine charges in 2 hours or so, and I find it blazing fast compared to my old Nokia 9300 and Motorola V547.
And 48 hours idle seems pretty much normal, considering you're on Verizon. I get up to 80 hours idle on GSM 2G and 40 to 60 on HSPA without placing/receiving calls or using data explicitly (besides the weather widget) and not touching the phone at all.
Curious on my battery usage - I just fully charged the phone last night (w/it off) and unplugged it 1 hour and 46 minutes ago - I'm already down to 82%, I was on FB for not even 2 minutes, and that's it, no calls, no texts, no nothing.
Battery Stats indicate Cell Standby has used 50% of the battery, Phone Idle has 48% and the display is only 3%.
Running w/4G on in a full 4G area.
Literally just sitting there the phone is having the life sucked out of it - I think it's the 4G radio. On my last ROM when I put the phone into just 3G the battery was much, much better. What the heck is VZW doing so that 4G sucks the life out of the phones?
I'm running CM7 w/the 2.5. Wonder if the 2.0 radio would be better.
Any thoughts?

It's not the 4G radio, I use "LTE only" and can constantly get 40-45 hours out of my battery. Have you tried that setting or are you using CDMA/LTE mode?
