Radio Version for Japanese Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hi Guys
I'm over in the states doing some testing and my Japanese colleague is currently having poor audio using his TytnII/Kaiser. His current radio version is 1.27.12.11. Is there a specific radio version he has to use for it to be compatible in Japan?
I've only ever updated ROM's for TytnII's and Polaris's in the UK and Europe and no nothing about the GSM networks etc in Japan so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Tim

Japan has no 'GSM' networks. That said, I had great success with 1.27.12.32 on Softbank and DoCoMo over past Christmas. However his radio version and all radios should be compatible with Japan's 3G network which uses the same frequency WCDMA 2100MHz as UK/Europe.
I'm assuming your friend is not having problems with BT audio.

Thanks for the quick reply NuShrike, I've just realised what an idiot I am as my Polaris is working fine out here
Will flash with the same radio firmware as yourself. The only issue he is currently experiencing is poor audio through the rear speaker which I'm led to beleive can be resolved by upgrading the radio.
Many Thanks
Tim

np! For the rear speaker, he can maybe try some registry tweaks to increase the volume. Otherwise, it's a speaker on a phone, and I've haven't had superior experiences with such.

Does your colleague have a Japanese TytnII, called S11HT (emonster)? If so, it is better NOT TO FLASH any radio. Because, S11HT is tuned for 1.7GHz and 2.1GHz is blocked. 1.7GHz HSPDA is used only Japanese mobile phone company, e-mobile, in the world in my knowledge. This means other radios may not support 1.7Ghz and his S11HT is not able to use in Japan. He may be use GSM in other countries, however, There is no GSM network in Japan.

I've sinced found out that its a UK version that we sent him for testing, initial reports are that the audio quality has improved (no longer an intermittent crackle when using the rear speaker).
Cheers guys

Can some one make a NV-Item Dump?
I want know, if its only a NV-Item setting or not! Possible i can provide a Menual to enable this Frequency!

New Touch Pro -- no 3g?

Hey folks, I've had the TYTN II connected to ROGERS (in Canada) via 3G for about a year now without any difficulties. I've swapped the SIM card into my new Touch Pro and it's only registering as EDGE. I've tried setting up a 3G connection in properties and everything, but it STILL only recognizes edge for the most-part. I've seen a couple of occasions when it said "G" in the top bar, but mostly E (99% of the time)
Any ideas on if there is a configuration problem? Or what I should do next?
A software update should hopefully fix this problem; just awaiting the final release of hardspl
well i know you cant get 3g in america because of band frequencies being different but what is rogers on? the touch pro can only do 2100mhz band for UMTS
I thought the UMTS frequencies were the same fro all of North America. I could be thinking about gprs. I know that hardspl is soon to be released from what i've been reading so we will know soon enough :-D
UMTS 850 and 1900 are available in the band selection screen HOWEVER the current stock radio and ROM combination doesnt work with it.
There IS a radio update around which has a minor update to the version number and protocol so im gonna guess it MAY help with this. The radio was bundled along with the cingular test update posted earlier this month.
Not recommended to update it yet though...wait til HardSPL is out so nothing dies
thanks
Thanks guys -- Do you think I should wait before I sell this Raphael to make sure its NOT compatible with the North American network?
I find it hard to believe that it would not be globally compatible with 3G networks around the world. Hopefully it just needs a ROM update (either radio/OS) to make it start working in 3g in North America

Wait, dont jump ship so quickly
Considering there are already TWO RUUs out ther for AT&T/Cingular its a pretty good bet an update will solve it
Wouldn't the world be a better place if there weren't so many different 3G frequencies?

Check the forum section under "Raphael ROM Development", there's a thread.

[Q]3G on the HTC Raphael/Touch Pro

Is the HTC Touch Pro able to work on U.S 3G band , if not is there a radio patch that will activate the U.S band on the device. Please help.
This is a very hot topic on this forum but so far from what i've been able to see none of the radios have enabled 3G. This is not to say that 3G isn't supported by the hardware although its looking pretty grim. It appears that the ELITE team is working on this since they just released Hardspl

We shall see what happens, although the bands are available in the "band" settings tab so it MAY be a radio issue.
Bit early to know yet, as there is only one user here so far who has hold of an AT&T Fuze (RAPH11000) we dont have a huge ammount of detail yet.
Both the newer 1.02.25.31 and 1.02.25.19 radios seem to have similar protocols (same QCT_BOOT and HTC_BOOT), it would be good if any user could flash the (apparently) older 1.02.25.11 radio and see if it does anything?
I really wish i could help out on this 3G front but no 3G in my area...
I can help...

I have the 1.02.25.19 radio here in Chicago. I know I have good 3G coverage from my TyTN II that I had previously. But why would you think the OLDER radio (1.02.25.11) would have U.S. 3G? ...jus curious.

I've installed the radio 1.02.25.11 and no luck with 3G in US ATT. only edge support.

I tried all the radios listed on the wiki too. None of them worked with 3G.

Its bundled with the AT&T ROM which is currently on the AT&T Fuze devices people are testing.
Higher radio version number doesnt necessarily mean a better one, as veterans of the Hermes will verify
The overseas Touch Pro cannot get 3G in the US. Just like the Diamond, the Touch Pro from overseas (RAPH100) does not have a WCDMA 850 radio.
Flash all the radios you guys want... it's not going to get you 3G on the 850 band. You'll have to wait for the US version/ATT Fuze if you're in the US and want 3G data.
Anyone know when AT&T sould release US version/ATT Fuze?

Until we have tested newer ROMs and radios that statement is pure speculation. MANY devices have had missing bands and etc...but have had them unlocked in ROM and Radio updates so it is too early to be writing off 3G support yet.
I have a TouchPro coming tomorrow. I called HTC today and (although I have about as much confidence in this as the paper I wrote this on) I was told by a lower level tech (I think he knew what I was talking about) that a "software" upgrade would allow for the European 3G enabled device to work in the US for 3G
... I sure hope so since I forked out the cash today
The Treo 750 didn't even start out 3G capable at all and was made 3G able with a ROM upgrade
Hoping
Hardware
Maybe a very stupid question, but what about openning up an eu version to see if the quad radio hardware is there? I would assume the radio chipset would be labeled and numbered so that we would know once and for all.

I sure hope that the HTC tech guy knew what he was talking about! Im want to know before 9/17 so i can either pre order the HTC dream with t-mo (current provider) or switch over to AT&T so i can (hopefully) use 3G with my touch pro
Don't take this the wrong way...

I thought about this but cracking open a 900 dollar device and completely voiding the warranty really isn't worth it. If someone can get schematic from HTC which i doubt we could see if the hardware is installed.

I believe there is an asian hardware version, this is what the HTC techs keep mentioning that might have the 850 3G radio.
I have a case into HTC support asking them to answer the question for me around if the radio is hardware capable of 3G in the US and explained what bands I was talking about and that it was in the software to enable those. I Posed the question as if I was unhappy that I was selecting these bands and it wasnt working to try to get an answer out of them will report back when I am answered one way or another.

Just so you know - I sent a similar email to them regarding the 850 band on the Diamond and I was sent a very nice response informing me that the phone I purchased was not intended for the US and did not have the hardware capability to be used on ATT in the US. Low and behold the xda developers made the 850 band work. Now HTC offers a rom upgrade opening the 850 band they said was not in phone. Unfortunately the response you get will not be the definitive answer.

I understand yours and others' reasons for not believing me or assuming it's speculation. All I can say is there will be a lot of effort put forth for no reason, just like with the DIAM100, only to confim that the hardware everyone is trying to unlock isn't even there. If the efforts put forth do nothing more than prove the above to be true, then at the very least people can rest more easily with full confirmation.

Question about Europe/US Radio

I have a HTC touch pro T7272 from Europe and it uses the European 3G bands currently.
What are the benefits of flashing my Radio to a newer version? Is it possible to use US 3G bands by flashing a different Radio ROM or is the US 3G limited by hardware?
Thanks for taking the time to read and I apologize if this is in the wrong area!

I guess that the official one from htc web page for the Ion would be enough.
The hardware should be the same as the vodafone one.

thx,
but google ion is for t-mobile network is it?
i mean, he uses 1700/2100 MHz and not the "regular" 900/1800
will it be ok to use this?
ups, you are absolutely true. I didn't even look at the bands, just focused in the platform.
Sorry for that huge mistake. I would feel really awful if i would have screwed your device by accident.

see now theres your biggest problem. every country besides the US and Canada uses the 900/2100 combination and technically the tmobile US UMTS band is more like 2050
First thing - no phone was harm
About the freq. - r u sure about the numbers? I got UK VF and it works in my country (Israel) w/o any problem (the issue with the 3G was apn settings only)
I think my carrier is 800/1900

hope it helps
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Cell-Phone-Detail.aspx?cell-phone=MyTouch-3G-Black
A link to the mytouch and the frequencies it will use.
Thx!
The freq of T-Mobile in myTouch are the same as the Nokia 5800 that are sold here in israel
so... i would be able to use the ota radio updates US phones will get

[Q] Nexus S - Very poor reception

Hello,
I bought a refurbished Nexus S from an online retailer in my country. As soon as I got it, I flashed CM10.1 on it and got it up and running but I immediately realised that the signal strength on the phone was WEAK! I only got 1-2 bars in my living room and sometimes no signal strength at all. However, as soon as I go out to my apartment's balcony, everything is back to full signal strength. The phone just keeps on dropping reception.
I looked into it and found that my phone had the M200KRKC1 radio so I said to my self, hey, lets flash it with one of the newer radios and it should be fine, right? WRONG! I'm running one of the newer KF radios and it's still the same.
Summary:
Initial radio: M200KRKC1
Current radio: Newer KF radio.
Situation: The same as before, weak reception.
Any help with this would be highly appreciated because this is driving me insane and I have to resort to an old Nokia phone of mine till then.
Thanks and regards.
You've got the Korean M200 (sojuk) version. According to Google official image website https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#sojuk , M200KRKC1 is already the latest radio. Could it be incompatible radio (hardware) issue?
Thanks for your response. I am not sure if its hardware but the reception was the same with the other radio too. I'm stumped
South Korean carriers are CDMA2000 and UMTS based (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code#K). I think M200 radio support CDMA2000 and HSPA, not sure about GSM support level, which is used in Pakistan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code#P).
This is based on info in wiki, which may not be up-to-date or accurate.
Just my 2 cents.
