..Before you get flamed...You have an incompatable Radio!!! Check Dutty's post for the correct radio, then check the Wiki to find the radio download...

No sound
Thanks for that downloaded different build and now appears to be working ok.

Why did you tell him?
He is obviously too lazy to read the forum before posting and by answering his question you just encourage other lazy people to ask before searching too.

Come on....
We are noobs once too. He's just join our forum, he will really appreciate our helps.

SkunkyGwen spent a long time creating the sticky to end all stickies. This exact problem and solution is listed in there.
If the OP can't be bothered to read the very first sticky on the site then he deserves to be ignored, flamed or whatever else comes to him.
Hard rules but we do not need a forum full of useless threads like this.

Search and read sticky's before making a post on something that has been covered a billion times already!

What version of Duttys 6.1 is best?

Build 19199 or Build 5.2.19716 updated FEB 20.2008 seems to be the newer one?
i personally prefer 19716 build but you can try both and figure it out. there was no need to open a whole new thread just 4 this question.
It's a perfectly valid question dude.
Like most people I am frustrated by people asking the same questions again and again, but I am concerned that this forum is in danger of heading down a bad road by bashing noobs at every opportunity.

Yes it's a perfectly valid question to ask in Dutty's thread about his ROM not creating a whole new thread about it.
totally agree.
You could argue this is like asking a parent which one of their kids they like the most!
Best thing is to try both and see which you prefer. There will be advocates for both.
ps don't try that with your kids. it will end you up in jail.
I use each rom on my 2 tilts. I feel that 197 is more stable. 191 sometimes freeze if you push some buttons whil they are booting up. doesn't happen to 197.
No disrespect to anyone here on the board, but Dutty's thread is quickly becoming useless to me. I'm not going to weed through 330+ pages of replies to try to follow a conversation or find a piece of information in there. That thread is quickly becoming it's own universe.
I'm glad this thread was started - It's good information for me that I wouldn't have otherwise found.
Regards,
Jeff

Here's the point....I garuntee if you post in there with a question it will be answered...there's no point in making a new thread....that's all I'm saying.

Posted a question ... no answer.
That thread is bull....
It took me 5 minutes to even find my posting.
The thread might make sense if someone was moderating it ... meaning putting questions into the first post with links to answers. But this? Bull!

Yeah, all threads suffer from this, and I'm also totally agreeing with you, I'm also in the same situation, cannot read hundreds of posts and pages of every ROM thread to find out if it's a suitable one to upgrade to. Trying out so many ROMs until satisfied is not an option for me (ok, I'd admit trying a few, but not every version of every flavour of wm6.1), I want to find one to get rid of my german wm6.0 and have iGo still working, and no issues more than with 6.0.
An updated FAQ in the beginning posts of the respective threads would be useful, but even better, real wiki articles (not just links back to forum threads). Don't want to upset people who discovered the Internet just when these forums where already around, but on mailing lists information and discussions where easier to follow and filter...
Just my 0.2€...
Back to the question: which is the best?
Let me tell you: the new 19716 RTM out to come soon will be the best and fastest ever!!!

Can we have a Glossary page at WIKI

Hi Moderators and Senior Memers and all the lovely people of this forum,
I wish if we can have a glossary page at the Wiki for all the new ppl which can have some commonly used terms or Words defined. like OEM, PIE and others..
Though I am quite old to this forum now, but still i find it difficult many times to decipher a particular term used in the forum by Senior people who at times used very technical term.
if we have a glossary, we can avioid new bees posting same old queries again and again..also this way we can aware ppl here about the product they are using.
please respond to this thread, and tell me if i am asking something extra or if we have a glossary page already, Can someone please send me a link.. i will like that to be a bookmarked page.
Many thanks
Loku
I will go ahead and write one up over the next few days and post it. Hopefully it can be sticked and then merged into the Wiki. Perhaps you can post any questions you have to this thread so they can be answered and included.
Thanks for your input.
Thanks much h4waii,
i specifically interested in understanding the USPL and Kitchen terminologies... though i have flashed my VOX with all the Dr. Gonzo's Rom and all versions of NEO by secable. but i really don't understand those pure technical words you ppl use... Its more like Follow the instruction like bible
Thanks again for finding my post a worth
take care
Loku
Wiki has been slightly updated. Please write any and all questions you have about SPL, kitchen, flashing, ROM/RADIO questions you might have. Aboslutely anything, if you thought of them - other people might have and it can be a great help to them. So don't hold back, ask all the 'silly questions' you can think of!
Nice idea...
don't know if it already exists but also including a F.A.Q wuold not be so bad...including the most usual questions like:
Q:"I was trying to flash the XXX rom and i got Image corruption or whatever is..."
A: Have you flashed your SPL.....?
P:S Maybe we would never say RTFM..but we could say RTW( Read The Wiki) LoL...
@h4waii:
Just for the future, when you add a page to the wiki and want to link to it you don't need the full link, just [Glossary|vox_glossary]! Looks better and is easier. OK now start asking questions (never thought I would ever write this)!
Thanks much members..Give me time this coming sunday.. i'll have my list prepare.
Just to share my VOX would have been just abother phone of mine, had i not discovered this forum. It made me love my phone just too much
thanks all
loku
@frauhottelmann:
Ah, thanks and thank you for changing it.
Once a good amount of questions are put and answered, I will contact a moderator to have the title adjusted and stickied.
@lokeshmudgal:
We await your questions to fill you with knowledge! Teehee.

Noobs Please read before starting a Thread

OK, The Mods, seniors and members that develop and discuss their ROMs on here have all gone to a lot of trouble( and time) to write the information required to teach us all how to build our own custom ROMs. They have spent hours and hours setting up the Kaiser Wiki with tutorials that are so simple they could teach a duck to tapdance! So could all who are thinking about building their own ROM please read first........when i say read, i mean read, i have read many posts that repost in half an hour say "read that and it didn't help" . In my experience its impossible to take in all the info needed in half an hour! Obviously if you don't find an answer after 2 weeks then consider asking someone, but 99.9% of answers are already here so it would be very rare you should need to ask. Most of the people here are here to discuss ROM development, not spoonfeed people who can't be bothered to read. This also includes the PM function of this site, just because you don't get the simplistic answer you were looking for in a thread, doesn't mean you can stalk by PM asking all the same questions over and over again.
If after you have read all the info available and took it in and still don't understand.....well maybe you're not capable of being a ROM chef, give up, go back to the Wiki, and download one of the amazing cooked ROMs already posted.
I think i speak for all the chefs on here with the above statement.
Apologies to the mods if this is in the wrong place, equally maybe this could make a good sticky and give all the real developers more time to develop rather than teach!
Nice words. Only thing is stuff like this has been said before, and the people who don't read the Stickies, Wiki's, How To's etc, don't read these threads either.
I made up most of my 1000+ posts explaing stuff I read from this forum to other members who didn't. Don't get me wrong I don't mind helping out with people who have read but are just confused, or have missed bits I have read. It's the people who plainly havn't bothered to read and just ask expecting and answer. Or the people who say I have a problem, tell me how to fix it.
To the noobs: You need to explain your problem so that we can understand, that way we can help you. i.e. I have done x and y, but then I get message m, so I tried z and I still get the message. That sort of thing makes life easy.
Oh well, we can but hope...
Dave

Weather update

There is no automatic weather update in manila 2.5.19211... I have ticked the "download data automatically". I have also selected every one hr. but updates seems to happen only when manually going to the weather page or tab. I am using udk Leo R7.

Then ASK in the thread of udK. Don't open new threads for simple things like this.
Post in right thread.
Don't open new threads if not really necessary.
Read and use the search-button.
And don't forget Google...

Hi. Ok, i have recently seen various post where people are asking for help about a partiqular issue. Yet all the the time, u have been either rude or cockey and totally demotivating.
I can understand your fustration that some people may have not used the search function, have posted in the wrong thread, or ultimatley have started a new thread, but i feel that is not the way to respond. y dont u just point them to the right direction in a more friendly way?
we were all a newbie once...(well i still am Lol!!)
I hope u dont take it the wrong way, but i personally wouldnt like it if someone responded like that. As a senior member, we look up to you guys to try and help us and or point us to the right direction.

Thanks to all who don't use search and open directly a new thread, it is more difficult to find something for the searching people (like me), because you get a huge number of hits with irrelevant threads... Get it?
I don't want to demotivate but motivate to search and read. When you give directly a helping link, they stay doing it.
Seeing every time new opened threads from newbies with every time the same silly questions, that's very demotivating for us, the people who supposed to help you. And that's what you'r looking for here, somebody who wants to help you. We don't have to do it, but we like it because this forum is a bit like a hobby for us.
So, we can shoose, saying nothing more or trying to teach you how a forum works. I prefer the last thing... And if somebody like me (the bad one) point you in the right direction, it's not for beeing bad, but for getting a better usefull forum. You can see in my posthistory that it's really multiple times a day that new useless threads were opened...
Normally it's a work for the moderators, but they also have a live and can not be always here, because also them are doing this as a hobby. Be all glad that I don't be one of them or it was the same comment and also closing the thread directly.
I take some time for this post because I can quote him for futur use when I get comments again from not-readers, not-searchers, new-post-openers and silly-question-posters...
If you have really followed my posts, you know that I help a lot when the rules are followed a bit...
And do you know why I can help others? Because I read a lot...
I am using UDK R7, I get the updates,.. have you tried a hard reset see if that sorts it out...
Sorry that i posted to wrong section. I thought it was a problem with Sense and not the rom, reason being my posting to this section. I think hard resetting would be extreme. Will search and see if anything comes up.

I understand bro, all i was getting at was just try to put it in a nicer way, thats all. regarding "silly" posts or questions, yeah, i have seen some VERY silly questions and i think to myself "the human stupidity IS infinite"! and i understand that it is coz of those posts/questions, ppl can get fustrated as it does clutter the forum.
I know you have helped alot of ppl, continue to do so.
i admit i personally havnt had alot of input in the forum as i still am a newbie, and anytime i have thought of answering a question, i fall back thinking if i am giving the right or wrong answer as i dont wanna make a fool out of myelf just being honest bro.

Calling all noobs!

Listen Up!! Not to sound rude but to all the noobs out there in the Atrix 2 forum PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read the forums before posting!! We have had at least 10 different threads started by noobs to answer the same question. Please before you post use the search function or take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
If you still have a relevant question then try to find a thread that relates to you problem and then post it there. Once you have searched and looked at the noob guide, and haven't found ANYTHING that relates, then you may post a new thread.
Thank you for your time!
Also, Please just do a search even before posting in any thread. ONLY POST IF YOU CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING CLOSE ENOUGH TO FIX YOUR ISSUE. Most likely someone has seen your issue in here, we have seen things like the 2.3.6 update for over 2 months in here, from using cheesecake, and trust me, someone has already done it, or borked their phone in a similar way as you have.
I really don't want to see any more demands from people who messed up their phone and are demanding support. Remember YOU are the one that decided to hit that update button, or make that change on your phone, none of us forced you to do so.
I will ONLY tell everyone this, one time, just like lfaber06, I have had people demand things either in posts or PMs. The first time you make a demand from me is the last time I will ever read anything you post ever again, and good luck getting help from me after that.
Remember myself and lfaber06, and others here too, do these things in our free time, and do this at no cost to everyone here, and there are a ton of people in here as well, that most likely do similar things in their job, so, remember this, when you actually ask for help.
Although I agree with all you say, I think is better to spend time into actually developing android rather than persecuting n00bs,
XDA DEvelopers still remains about developers..
