Same here. It only works when i'm activesynced, and then only sometimes

working for me only when not synced, and only 1 successful boot/10 attempts.

Put your phone in "airplane mode", start haret.exe and it will work (for me), when your phone accesses a 3g network, haret won't work...
The only thing is, you can't do anything with it... If you start an application, it all crashes and you have to soft restart your device. But it was fun to watch seeing your mobile boot into Linux and then entering Android.
Here a video, to illustrate it all.

Hey, this is cool!

It should unload Windows and boot Linux, so it's not a virtual machine, it's the real thing.
But because Linux isn't touching anything but the screen (only has touchscreen and screen drivers), things like your bluetooth led keep on flashing. Source

"working"
I think the term "working" needs bigger quote marks. It boots the OS and either crashes or does nothing.

Hi guys, "works" on my polaris. Some keys are mapped to joystick "up" and center button. Try also power button and push to talk button.
I've requested a new machine code to support polaris related code development. You can get up to date machine file here:

As you can see from today on:
htc_polaris MACH_HTC_POLARIS HTC_POLARIS 1723
Happy linux development!

Update
They have an updated Zimage over http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/
Update(18/4/08): Radio now works for data. The latest zImage and initrd-android should let you use the browser and maps application(no keyboard yet though). You will need to put a username and password in default.txt depending on your provider (the ones there will work for Telecom NZ). The old files are here and here. The phone may say it has no network coverage but it should still work. To get the phone fully working we will need to write a ril library for it.
First boot attempt at this new zimage and it locks on the cylon\kit loading screen. Seems to stutter a few times then hangs.
I edited the default.text with a blank username/password from 3 UK
The older zimage booted fine but would then hang when launching apps etc

HEY,
THE VERSION IS THE SAME FOR SYMBIAN 3D EDITION?
or it's another one?
many thanks
i use now a tomtom 6.030 but i can't use a scroll for make a choice.
did you upload a link for EMULç please
Just installed TomTom 6 for PPC, and it worked fine on my Vox. You can do everything with the four way button, and the softkeys. I did not need to use any fake cursor or anything. I have a standard tomtom gps though, so the settings for gps were pre-configured.
Yep using 6.030 (8320)
The tricky part was to setup TomTom, now it's running smoothly.
1st) Install - install was not working so the option was to copy correct files from PocekPC version. After that no problems to run TomTom.
2nd) Set up GPS or multiple maps, generally when you have to choose from list there is no option to use D-Pad. For that purpouse I've used fakecursor with xbar3. When "in TomTom" I've called xbar3 and from there fakecursor to setup GPS and correct map. Of course you need to setup xbar3 to have FakeCursor link in there. For GPS you need to assign COM port in Bluetooth settings.
Pain in the a** was that I was not able to switch fakecursor off becouse none of the buttons (except D-pad) were responding. So to switch it off I've had to remove battery. However this is only one time job since after setting things up you can use your keyboards only.
3rd) Small glitch while using TomTom when you need to "Cliclk" you need to use left soft key - action key on D-pad is acting like "double-click".
Uff... took some time to do it.

Hi, I could make TOMTOM 6 work, but I just can't use it because the keyboards don't work properly. Neither the phone keypad nor the QWERTZ keypad (it's a German vox).
I can't select in the lists ans I can't correct input-mistakes because I don't have a backspace-button.
Is there any way making TOMTOM work properly?
And another thing: how can I create a shortcut in the start menu? And how can I create shortcuts on the home-screen?
Thanks,
Cheesy

When you say "copy correct files from PocekPC version" do you mean only the files from the \program files and the \My Documents folder? Or are there more files in the windows folder?

hmmmm - pretty crap solution though.
At the end of the day ttn6 is PPC software not smartphone and it seems tomtom have no plans to release a smartphone version!
The other thing that pisses me off about tomtom at the moment is, if I do decide to upgrade (upgrade - thats a laugh - buy the product again) then I also have to "upgrade" (buy) all of my USA maps again too.
It seems to me that they are focussed on their all in one units and really couldn't give two hoots about us mobile/ppc users who have been with them for a long time.
At £75 for the software (all of Europe) I am going to give Route 66 mobile 7 a go. Hopefully it will be bye bye tomtom

I've installed TTN6 with a PPC emulator and copying the files to microSD card and I think it's working great on my S710 except one thing:
The display switches completely off after 30sec like when the phone is in standby mode on the homescreen.
I'd like that TTN6 doesn't switch the display off when it's running.
Don't you experience this issue? And has someone a solution?

HTC Bluetooth Hot Fix

Hi,
HTC today posted a hot fix for bluetooth at their e-Club.
Description:
Bluetooth Hot Fix (for HTC TyTN II)
Dropped calls sometimes occur when Bluetooth is on. If you encountered the same problem, please download this Bluetooth Hot Fix and install it on your device.
Br,
Mads
Downloaded it from HTc.cOM
Installation instructions
Follow the instructions below to download and install the hot fix on your device:
Make sure you have Microsoft ActiveSync® installed on your Windows XP PC or Windows Mobile Device Center on your Windows Vista® PC. You can find Microsoft ActiveSync from this link or Windows Mobile Device Center from this link.
Connect and synchronize your device with your PC via Microsoft ActiveSync® or Windows Mobile Device Center using the USB cable.
To download thehot fix, first select the check box below. Next, select thehot fix and the desired FTP site then click Download.
Copy the hot fix, which is a cab file, to your device.
To install the hot fix, tap the cab file and follow the on-screen instructions.
Here is the file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/77588898/TyTNII_BT_Hotfix.zip
Enjoy,
Nadavi
Extracted madsnm's posted cab, which is the same as nadavi's. This is a replacement file for OEM\OEMDrivers\TIInit_4_2_38.bts (a.k.a. \windows\TIInit_4_2_38.bts for non-chefs).
I've re-attached it as the naked file (without the cab installer or the self-extracting exe installer).
Any decent chef should be able to figure out how to turn a single file into an OEM package
Edit: Forgot to add that there are no registry entries, as I've already created registry dumps before/after install...
Edit3: It *IS* the same as the one in the AT&T 1.60 ROM. I did a file compare and there are no binary differences.
Although I am not having any problems as mentioned in the fix log, but the idea of HTC releasing something for us is great .

well, 6.1 ROM doesnt really looks appealing to me, i believe most of us would want our freaking D3D driver to improve our kaiser speed.
come'on HTC, give us our driver. We want our kaiser to work @ its full potential!

OT but the driver is there. Look here for more info. There's also an XDA thread on this. We just need to tweak it out for general purpose acceleration.

It doesn't say much if they hacked something for Coreplayer, or it was a general fix from HTC for all Windows Mobile devices running the MSM chipset.
Would be nice if the Kaiser was as snappy as that dual-keyboard Pantech running WM6 Standard.
I'm at loss to say if all the UI (and general system) lag is from too much use of .NET, lack of hardware accelerated graphics drivers, or Pro just runs slower than Standard because of the touch-screen support.
Hmm...wonder why i didn't get an email from the e-Club about this. I log into the site and find the fix just fine but I thought I'm supposed to get a notification about it (i'm pretty positive that was my preference when signing up)
Anyway, does this hot fix help in pairing bluetooth with car kits and devices that had problems or were incompatible thus far.
I've never experienced dropped calls with my BT connection, but I do have another problem that is pissing me off.
I have two different Pioneer stereos in two different vehicles. The AVIC-Z1 and the Premier DEH-P980BT.
When I first try to initiate a call with the 980, the connection is made, but the audio is somewhere in limbo between the phone and car speakers. There is a BT connection, but it takes about a minute and a half to actually start sounding through the speakers. By that time, the receiving end has hung up.
Since it only happens for the first call of the ride, I've been getting in the car, calling my voicemail, and waiting until I can hear the voicemail prompts. After that, I can make and receive call normally until I shut the car off.
If this fixes the problem I'm having, I'll be ecstatic.
Hi,
I have no noticable problems with BT exept the sound quality. Will be anything better or maybe worst if I install this upgrade? Does anybody have experience on it?
Thx
Mikus

Sounds like they had to change something with the drivers. So they're there but poorly implemented. And sounds like they'll give us driver info once its released. I'll buy it if it fixes the D3D support!
Still garbled on my Tilt with an Infinity G35..now how do I deleted the Kai6492_HotFix from my Programs directory? I can't see to find it...yet the icon is still there. Any one know?

here's what causes that issue on my phone:
hit the ms voice command button and hear the beep prompt.
now hold the button down till you get the cancel beep.
now make a call. you will get no audio either direction.
turn the phone off, and the sound starts working. turn it back on and it's gone again.
key the ms voicecommand button again and let the time expire instead of holding to cancel.
make another call, and the audio will be fine, except for a 5 to 10 second delay.
see if this is how your phone behaves also. if I don't ever cancel a ms voicecommand by holding the button down, everything seems to work fine.
After installing the "fix" I could no longer use voice dial with any of my bluetooth headsets. Uninstalling the fix fixed it.....go figure.....
I think that HTC really need to have more, serious, knowledgable beta testers to tryout this stuff with various software and hardware scenarios before releasing the device. Some of these "bloggers" that they send new, unreleased devices to are either cronies or don't know much, or will not test the devices thoroughly and/or report back to HTC what problems that they experienced. I am a Verizon and AT&T user. Have seen these anamolies between diferent devices for some time now. The Mogul and XV6800 don't have the same issues we have, however, I guarantee you they do have others such as the De-activated GPS flaw that happened recently in the Mogul.
Unfortunately my Kaiser didn't work still with this hotfix. I installed on my device few times, I rebooted the headset and nothing. Probably it's like that because my ROM is 1.83, it's original polish version of it. How can I resolve the problem of bt headset ?
The fix file is a CAB (download from HTC e-club)... I install the CAB and find a link under software menu... I tap it... and another installation is done... I must soft reset the device... and stop...
Okai... so I think in this way the fix is gone... but... I have yet the cab installed under Software CAB and Installed application... can I uninstall it? The trashes pissing me :-D

Also I think you may have a burned up GPS chip. Try a different GPS program. GPSTest or something. But It would be better if you posted in the Thread that deals with Problems in the rom you are using.
two suggestions:
first: see if u have a-gps enabled. if so: disable and try again
second: try another rom... find one that's best for you.
i dont see how htc home plugin can affect this because i tested all possible combinations w&w/o it enabled and nothing changed. I had the same issue, igo freezing with dutty's wm 6.1 ROM when configuring and turning off assisted gps helped, as stated above.
My GPS worked fine with iGo until I changed the ROM (I had Dutty's ROM nr. 4). And that link that you give me, Jimmy, is related to HTC Home. I don't use it, like I said before.
Help please...

I'm not sure it's a ROM problem. iGo 6 itelf seems to have a problem dealing with AGPS. Mine also freezes after a while if AGPS is turned on.
I just leave it off and everything seems to work fine.
/drt
one thing i did was turning off the igo today plugin..and reboot..that should partially remove the conflict..
There are actually three different kinds of iGo problems I've seen with the various ROMs I've tried:
- Installation won't complete. Often, iGo will run anyway if you just do a soft reset when the installation halts. Often it won't.
- iGo runs, but once configured to find the GPS COM port, it hangs and hangs every time it starts after that. It may be related to AGPS, but I've seen this in ROMs that do not have that enabled by default. Also, I have no data plan and, as a result, no data connection with the tower.
- iGo installs, but won't start at all. Trying to start it results in a little screen opening animation, but nothing appears. The device is sluggish for a moment, then it's as if you never attempted to start it at all. This is the problem I have with Dutty's latest ROM. This almost certainly not related to AGPS since iGo has no GPS configuration immediately after installation. I don't believe it is related to the HTC Home plugin, since iGo runs fine for me on the AT&T test ROM, and it has the plugin.

This is definitely a conflict with the music tab of HTC Home, but only on some 6.1 ROMs (curiously not build 716 though). This problem doesn't occur in any 6.0 ROMs that I know of. It's not the plugin per se, but some component of the Today screen configuration that's causing the problem.

Is it sufficient to uncheck the plugin in the Today configuration and soft reset or is something more drastic required to resolve the conflict? The instructions linked to in an earlier posting seemed more like a series of black magic steps that happened to work.

TomTom 7.915 (9196) works on smartphones

It seems that with this new build of TomTom 7 smartphones are supported now !!!
The problem with earlier releases was that you couldn't scroll down to select the second, third etc line. This now works. Great news. but...
I installed it on a HTC Tornado (qtek 8310) and it works fine. The problem on the S710 is again the backlight going off after a while. Dit anyone try this new version already and do you have the same problem with the backlight?
I know there was a program called Kahuna TTn6 Focufix.cab to keep the focus on the program. maybe this works? I will try to find this program and see if it helps. Maybe we have to modify the key HKCU\Control Panel\Power\Display again?
I hope some of you can help me find a sollution, so we all can use the newest TomTom version on our Vox !
I found the TTn6 Focufix.cab, but this doesn't work.
I did find a workaround: I set the display time-out when on ac power to never. This works. So when I am in the car the battery is charged and the display stays on.
TomTom 7.915 on Fireburner custom ROM 1.0
I am using TomTom 7.915 since I install the custom ROM from fireburner.
This release works on S710 but with same limitation/problem, but you can select the different icon of the menu without any problem. The navigation can be vertical with the phone close, or horizontal if you have the keyboard open.
These are the Four main problem I have found, and the solution I have use to work around:
1. Backlight going off. When I am using it I plug the phone with the power supply, otherwise battery go away immediately after you arrive at destination or when you are close to it. I solve this problem in the "Settings"+"power Management", and select "never" in "Display time out on AC"
2. Backlight always on after use TomTom. I run an application free that you can download from http://www.tgmaker.com/mobile/
3. Input a destination. The two keyboard of the S710 works, but only with number when present. I means that with the number keyboard TomTom take only the numbers, and with the Qwerty will take the letter if they are alone and the numbers if on the key have both. Same problem was in Opera mini, and you can solve in the menu settings.
Sol. A
I solve this problem saving a contact with the address, and select the destination to contact.
Sol. B
You can browse all the city and the street, you must have a lot of time, or if you know the ZIP code the search became faster.
Sol. C
Fakecursor works but are more the disadvantage that the benefits. When you run it you can use only it, and all the shortcuts with the keyboard doesn't work. I prefer plan the destination and recall them after.
4. Selection: When in the display you have only two possibility there are no problem, but when they are more, the option in the middle are difficult to select. I have find the possibility to select using shift+same key, but I found it very uncomfortable.
Now a challenge to the expert!!
My colleagues use TomTom 7.915 on Experia X1, and you can select all the function using only the keyboard. I have seen also a Touch Pro working very fine with it. The two device have different layout (4 and 5 lines) and the software is working perfectly. I was thinking that most probably TomTom call some driver install on the device for the keyboard layout and allow the software to run properly. My device have a fb custom ROM, and I have a stupid idea which maybe work! If we save the driver of the S710 with the same name of the driver TomTom is looking for the layout keyboard, may be we can use both the keyboard.
I know is a strange idea, but I cannot test since I don't know which driver TomTom is looking for when start up.
Bye
are you sure of number 2? I know that tomtom mobile 5 makes the reg key value HKCU\Control panel\Power\Display if it doesn't exist and set the value to 0 after closing tomtom. I don't think tomtom 7 has the same behaviour. Can you try removing the Display value and see if tomtom 7 creates it again.
number3: I didn't have this experience. I do use another rom. Maybe it has to do with enabling the T9 setting of the keyboard? I can use the number keyboard to make letters and select the right city and street.
number 4: good point. I hope somebody knows this
did some more tests just to be sure:
1. problem is the display goes out after a while. workaround is to set the display timeout in the poweroptions to never when on ac power.
2. tomtom7 doesn't make the value Display after closing, so the ptoblem doesn't exist. (there may be other programs that cause this problem, but it is not related to tomtom7)
3. when using the number-keypad all works fine. when using the full-keyboard there is a problem with the keys also used for numbers (like E R T Y). you get numbers when pressing these keys... I like the idea of whanging the keyboard-layout/driver somehow...
4. I don't really understand what you mean. selecting what?

Dear walram
I am sorry but I discover that I was running the TTN7.910.9185_vga_black for the Diamond.
I download the new version and I confirm that is working on S710.
1. Ok I have done the same
2. You are right for this point, no need tools for the backlight.
3. Number-keypad all works fine in this version, problem with the qwerty keyboard is still present.
4. In version 9196 the graphic is totally different, in not just a matter of resolution and I believe was developed for specific device. If you press center key pad 6+5 you can see the version of Tomtom , and you have 3 possibility
- copyrigth
- account
- done
I am not able to select Account.
During the installation I was not able to select the correct com port, since look like the cursor was not enable to move, or this version was designed for COM9. I copy the *.exe and *.chk file on the old installation and is fine.
I believe that this version take out from the lolite is the most suitable for the s710. Then finally for who love TomTom, at least they should try it, since interface is almost the same of 5.2 for SP and the overall function looks ok.
If I found bugs or problem I will post later in this section.
Bye
i see what you mean with point 4. I don;t know a sollution for that, but i think you don't really need it for daily use. i could select the right com-port (com 6). installed it on 5 devices already, no problem.
the only bug i found so far is when starting the demo for a route the buttons are switched. so the "ok" and "cancel" are switched. just that you know...
it would be nice if somebody can fix the full-keyboard layout problem... it seems a problem with the s710?
it would also be nice if somebody can write a simple program that creates the registry key to keep the display on when the program is running, and delete the key when tomtom is closed. anybody?

I'm NOT a big fan of TOM TOM but I've tried for the first time to figure out this problem and so far I totally agree with Dom_LC
COM selection is locked IMHO. I've tried to edit navigator.cfg to use COM7.... DONE...but it was useless
then I tried to add COM9 to my Bluetooth outgoing ports...it was selectable but obviously the system was unable to create the port.
I tried also to mix data file with the exe to see wath's what ...useless.
Tried fakecursor and eCursor...they worked everywhere but in the COM selction MEnu.
well, that's kind a strange isn't it? can you use the up and down-button when selecting a city and when selecting a road? are you using version 7.915 and not 7.910?
Sure! and I'l tell you something more interesting also when composing the destination I can't scroll from the vorious suggestions that are indexed along when you are typing (the only that is always selected is the first in the list as for the COM ports)...so the only way is to write the exact name
interesting. so maybe there are more versions of the 7.915 around? something to do with the rom?
anyway i can scroll from the vorious suggestions everywhere. Maybe i should send you my version and see what it does on your vox.
I had the following files:
ttn7.915.9196.qvga_black.cab
ttn7.915.9196.qvga_blue.cab
ttn7.915.9196.vga_black.cab
i installed the middle one.
a did find a bug, so it seems. How do you select a differect country when typing a city? On a PDA you can select the country on the right side of the screen. but how does it work on a smartphone? eg. I am from the netherlands and the only city's i can select are from the netherlands. In earlier versions of tomtom all city's of europe were in the same list. can anyone confirm this bug?
Yep Walram, this bug is on my StarTrek too, TT started in Belgium for me and i had no clue how to change the country to Netherlands, so i navigated to one of my dutch contacts and that did the trick, so, maybe a bit odd, but you could add a fake contact in the country of your choice to end up over there.
Nevertheless....this is an inconvenient bug since it doesn't allow you to travel or plan through whole of Europe
i wonder if the selection of country is in the map or in the application. eg. if we install an old map (version 7 or 6) do you get 1 list with all city's of europe?
so tomtom has some work to do again to fix this bug.
if you remove the mapsettings.cfg in the map-directory before starting tomtom you get the question once to wich country you want to navigate
so, a little, workaround. you also loose your home adres and favoutites i guess...
but it works... just that you know

I tried blue and black version. I think it was black wich did not let me select something with the up and down keys. So try both versions.
By the way installation failed every time on my Vox (Rose v.0.4)
So I extracted the files with win ce extractor, putted them on the root of the SD card and all went well.

I Can Confirm that! Smartphone users can take advantages ONLY from the blue one! And this ends my adventure with tom tom.

does anyone can help me... I've tried the qvga version black and the ttn7.915.9196.qvga_blue_cuckoo.cab. both do the same thing.... they start and suddendly stop...

WM6.5 "No service"

I've recently upgraded my O2 xda ii mini from WM2003 to Cotulla's WM6.5, and Radio 1.13
Everything's OK but except:
Whenever my battery drop down below 60%, it will display no signal at all, no service... And when click con Phone, Phone Setting, Sim Manager... It'll pop up: "The phone is not ready, wait 15 sec" => Then wait all day long with no result... (If I plug the charge, everything'll be fine)
I bought a new battery, and still not works...
And I don't know why, now, even the battery indicator gone mad... Always 0%, charging, when the phone running smoothly...
Sorry for my bad English.
How can I solve those problems now?
Hi,
are you sure you have radio 1.13?
So long,
MrFX
can you post some screenshots of Device Information and Phone Settings.? so that we can diagnose properly. . .
I don't know how to take a screenshot on my PDA, but I'll write it down...
Device Infomation:
ROM version: 3.06.00 WWE
ROM date: 25/12/09
Radio version: 1.13.00
Protocol version:1337.43
ExtROM version: <Nothing>
And Phone Setting:
Well, my network, I set to auto, not work, then I set to manual, but still can't solve...
Hi,
how the hell you've installed this rom with radio 1.13? If i tried this, there was a bad radio error...
Please try the radio 1.12 like described on cotullas site:
*You must have installed 1.12 or 3.00+ radio.

I've installed radio 1.13 first... Then install that ROM, and they're still work OK if battery is over 60%...
How do I down grade to 1.12? The 1.12 installer always said that the cable is disconnect...

Still the same...
Hi,
is it an old or a new battery?
I had also some problems with my older bat, it shows always a good status, but i was not able (with full bat) to flash any new ROM to the Magician, and sometimes the Phone was going down.
After i replaced the battery with a new one, the Magician works very well.
So long,
MrFX
Sorry, both the old one and the new one brought no good result...
Hi,
do you have the same problem with WM 2003 (now)?

Ah yes... I think that's hardware problem
And another problem is:
Now my O2 will not sound anything out when receive a message or a phone call if PDA is off (it still vibrate though). If it's on, it sounds normally...
I don't know what the heck is going on... Everythings works fine before I flash the WM6.5 in... Even now I flash back to WM2003... It still screwed up...
are you sure you have downgraded to 1.12 wm2003se.?
if you still have that same problem, try to change network provider or change SIM, maybe you have a network bandwidth problem.
check the antenna pads if it's tightly intact, if there still no luck, you better find a technician.
ohh i forgot, the last time you upgraded your device did you use and run this file.? MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe if yes, then you should not be having problems with your network cause that file helps fix country id error.
Yes I did...
I tried another SIM from a different Provider, but no hope.
I cleaned the antenna, still the same.
Try a different battery. Nothing happen (still below 60% and no services).
Now, if some one call me or SMS, it has no sound at all, unless the PDA is turned on (that means the screen still show Windows menu, not black).
The Cotulla's WM6.5, the virtual keyboard: Sometimes the Delete or the Backspace key doesn't work at all, and I have to reboot.
If I press a hard button, it will show a message box said the short cut is invalid.
If I flash WM2003, then, I can't turn off the device by the side button. I must set it auto turn off after 1 min.
My country have no such technician for me to ask. Just a bunch of liars... ^^
May be it's too old, and I have to buy a new one.

before you buy a new one, do first an experiment so that we can corner the problem, you must downgrade to the original rom, just ignore the turn off button, i think it can be tweak in the registry.
follow this steps, this is my way of downgrading.
1.) download this rom http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/Magician/MA_O2Asia_11200_920_11200_Ship.exe
2.) extract those files in a folder. (any folder name you like, use winrar.)
3.) run the file ROMUpgradeUt.exe
4.) download and save this file inside the folder where you extracted the files in step 1. http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/Magician/MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe after you downloaded it, run it.
5.) follow the onscreen instruction until your done flashing.
observe your device if it still have the same problem.
I did try as you suggest...
The same problem... Nothing changed... And even still no sound when the PDA is "sleeping"...
I don't know what to do with this "thing" now...
