If you want to get rid off the word prediction while writing text on your HTC Vox do the following:
00. Use at your own risk!
01. Reboot your HTC Vox (no application must use the file 'eT9Cbd.Cdb')
02. Use Active Sync to goto your \windows folder
03. Search the file 'eT9Cbd.Cdb'
04. Copy the file to your desktop PC for future/security purposes
05. Delete the file 'eT9Cbd.Cdb' on your HTC Vox
06. Create a folder with the same name 'eT9Cbd.Cdb'
07. Reboot your HTC Vox again
08. The phone is not longer able to recreate the file, because a folder with the same name already exists
09. T9 will work as always
10. Word prediction will be turned off
11. I have tested anything so far and it works for me without any problems. Maybe you like it
If you want to get back word prediction do the same, but delete the folder 'eT9Cbd.Cdb' you have created. Reboot again. The phone will recreate the file itself.
Thanks for the tip;
As far as I tested it, works fine!
Word Prediction = Word Suggestion? The suggestion bar still appears when I am typing.
but the new words added by you in the dictionary will be gone...

Hi,
I am new around here , sorry if this seems a very basic question, and yes I have tried the search function.
I am having difficulty viewing the extended rom on my Magician (originally a MDA Compact, but flashed with I-Mate Jam Rom). If I perform a hard reset, and then a soft reset before the customisation process starts, Extended_ROM is visible using File Explorer. However, if I do not perform the soft reset and let the customisation go ahead, Extended_ROM is not visible (I beleive this is normal behaviour).
My problem is that when using Total Commander and typing in "Extended_ROM" in the path field I still cannot see it. This works on my Universal (O2 Exec) with no problems even though Extended_ROM is invisible in File Explorer.
What am I doing wrong? Am I typing the wrong path name or do I need some other "tool" to view the Extended_ROM?
Thanks,
P.
You're at 50% with your question. The customization removes the loadvdisk.lnk from startup folder. Regular file explorer cannot see the loadvdisk.exe in windows, but resco file explorer can with the option to view hidden files too.
Or connect to your PC with Act.Sync & browse the magician with explorer, make sure hidden fikes can be seen. Now you can create a shortcut in startup folder and execute it from your magician.
Or do the hard-&softreset trick again & make a copy of the loadvdisk.lnk in storage or on sd.
Choice is up to you, they'll all make the ext-rom visible.
Personally I'll go for resco file explorer. Gives you a registry editor & ftp client as well. Very handy tool.
Cheers, M
Thanks,
I will try out Resco Explorer and see what happens.
Cheers,
Paul
Don't forget to select 'show all files' on the browser tab in the files -> options menu.
The problem is with Pocket Breeze, on tab 'Notes'.
I would like to know how can I choose an app to be first one to open .txt files on this tab on PB.
I tried to do this with File Explorer and Resco (with 'Always use' and 'File Extension'). In this apps, it worked, but not on 'Notes' in PB.
I installed before Text Reader and during the installation, it asked me if I what this app as the principal to open .txt files. I said yes and then, PB recognized and open all .txt files with this one.
But now, I want to change it to Haali Reader. I tried do regedit HKCR\txtfile\shell\open\command & opendoc\command, but it did not work either.

Did you eliminate the exe command or forgot and made no changes at all? I don't like ClearVue by Westek, so to get rid of the command for ClearVue to open for pdf files, I simply highlighted the data value, and tapped the backspace key on the onscreen keyboard, saved changes. "ok", waited a couple minutes, re-set device.

I forgot to the inverted commas... lol...
I changed the opendoc path, but I forgot the inverted commas after select the path. It was: Storage Card\Program Files\Haali\Reader\Reader.exe %1, and not "Storage Card\Program Files\Haali\Reader\Reader.exe" %1
Now its ok.
Thanks.

Yes and you didn't even manage to do THAT right since you didnt include the IPHONE mod pack thats needed.
To anyone that actually wants to TRY this, the article I posted has links to all the software as well as two methods you can use to accomplish it including one method that doesn't required that you use PIRATED software to accomplish it.

I dont think he's realized he totally ripped someone's work off... =P
cujo316 needs to be banned or at least banned from posting for a couple of months so he can read up, learn some things, and quit being an idiotic thief.
I'm being serious though, he honestly hasn't realized it.
I was being sarcastic. It's pretty simple. If you're on this forum, you aren't here by accident. And you're other places as well. I'm suprised someone else hasn't tried to take credit for the iMDA.
If you're going to steal the work, at least get the topic spelling correct. Jeez.
I got this running the hard way...works nice.
I ran into one issue. my mail works, but I can no longer tell which account I am in. it used to put the mailbox name in the title menu, and now it show "inbox" no matter what account I am in.
does anyone know how to fix that?
Maybe it's a nice idea to implement all these steps into a pre-cooked ROM? Anybody who can do this with a clean WM6-rom for example?

wow. thats a lot of work. my rom is pretty slow coz it has a memory leak and so i thought I would try this on before i reflashed the phone to a different rom. it takes me on average, 25 to 40 seconds to access my windows folder. setting up the applications was a pain. is there any way someone could make a cab file or an installer of this? it would make everyones life a loooot easier. excellent mod though. who needs an iPhone? the wizard rocks!!!

Is there any way to fix copy/paste in xBar because it is not working with WM6?
I've tried VITO CopyPaste with VITO TaskSwitcher but it is not so functional and easy to use as xBar.
I've also tried SmartToolKit but I don't find very useful that XP look-like interface.
I can't imagine using WM without xBar
some times ago, in WM2003 era i'm use Xbar on my Typhoon with speical programms for copy-cut-paste (it can copy not only text, but it can copy files too)
i'll try to search that on my harddisk and check its work on my vox
later i'll tell about experiment
That would be great!
good news - it works fine!
CopyPaste is a small utilty for XBar to use copy/paste in wm2003 / wm5 smartphones with Paragon russian T9 installed
and it works with out Vox too!
readme.txt in russian, so i translate it
you must copy files from archive to program files\xbar\start (or xbar3\start or something else)
CopyAll - copy all text from edit window to clipboard
CopyLine - copy only current line to clipboard
Paste - insert from clipboard
Shift - select your text (with left-right buttons) and copy (left softkey) or cut (right softkey) it in clipboard. This is doesnt work in ProfiMail
Shift1 - same as Shift, but you can only copy text (up button). This is work in ProfiMail
You can copy to your smart all of those applications or select only applications that your need
It is not working with my vox with ARA rom.
I've tried it to copy text form SMS messege.
hmm.... i have same problem in sms
but in other application it is work...
strange...
the message has to be editable to be able to be copied. Which is not the case when reading an incoming sms.
Here is a workaround, you can forward the msg and then copy its content while it is edited. Pretty dumb solution I know but I think it is a windows mobile limitation and these copy/paste programs can do nothing about it.
I'd personally like being able to copy/paste text while browsing the net on the phone.
Dr. Martin Gonzo
hmm
when i tell about i mean that i can't copy text in edit window. I can change it, even select it. But i can't paste it anywhere
evenb selecting the "cut" option doesn't do nothing ?
yes
text doesn't disappear
now this is strange. You don't have any other copy/paste program installed that could interfer ?
Maybe it has troubles with cyrillic alphabet ?
If we can't find the reason of your problem you should contact the program's author..
Dr. Martin Gonzo
What are you useing for task manager and copy/paste?
xBars "select" (shift) is working but copy paste it is not working, the author promise on their forum to make a new version of xBar in wich will be fixed copy/paste in wm6 but it seems that author it is not working any more.
VITO copy/paste is working in wm6 but the problem is that it is mapped on the same center button as xBar.
How to remap that button?
I don't really know I use neither.
I use smarttoolkit for both. I've assigned a key to its task function (center button too) and a key for its clipboard function. I love it. I've also disabled the animations on smarttoolkit menus. It's better when constantly switching app.
What version of smarttoolkit you are useing?
I've installed "RC09-CORE1 Released" but it is VERY buggy, very often got my phone stucked and the only solution is to get the baterry out.
The same, but I seem to be one of those lucky people that don't have so much bugs using smarttoolkit. Strangely it seems to be not even rom dependent because many user of my rom report the same problems whereas I only get a smarttoolkit lockup every two days or so. I can live with it.
Finally I've got the clue, just install the SmartToolkit 1.0.0.RC08 version (not the RC08D) and all the stability problems are gone, no more bugs like with the last RC09 version!
Many people would like to add custom fonts from their pc or online. The new Microsoft Office do allow to download custom fonts from cloud, but the list is not exhaustive. Furthermore if you want to use fonts other than English, there seems to be no way out. But fortunately I’ve found a way. Let’s get into action then:
Prerequisites:
Your device must have root access.
You must have a file manager other than the default file manager which can access root folders.
Before you begin please make sure Microsoft Word is not running; not even in background.
Steps:
Download or paste the fonts you want to use in your device’s internal/external memory.
Copy the font using the file manager. (In my case I’ve used ROM Toolbox lite)
Now keep pressing back until further pressing back will exit the program. Here you will see folders like .system, cache, config, data etc.
Now go to data>data>com.microsoft.office.word>files>data>fonts and paste your font
Follow the preceding steps for each fonts you want to use. In my case I could only copy one font at a time.
That’s it. Open Microsoft Word and you will see your desired fonts God willing.
Happy Typing.
