Screen Lock Issue with WM6.1 - Palm Treo 750

Hi all,
I downloaded WM6.1 from a link on this site (can't remember which one!!) but I'm having a problem with the screenlock on the phone not working. It says it's locked, but I can still press the screen and click through options.
Is this something that's a known issue, or is there a better flavor of WM6.1 that I should be using?
Thanks
Stevo

Screen lock - usually works for me
Hi,
I have the 6.1 version from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374381
and the palm screenlock works fine. It occasionally fails to activate, but a re-boot sorts it out.
John

I had the same problem once, that is when I realised that I had set the brightness to 40%. There is a bug that will not allow your 750v to go into standby automatically if you do that. Try not to set your minimum brightness to less than 40%.
Otherwise, there may be some software that you may have installed conflicting with your 750v and causes this. Only a Hard Reset will work in this case.

:MSQuickApp corruption on Vox Dr Gonzo ROM 6.1 V1.1

Hi all,
i have been using Dr Gonzo's 6.1 V1.1 Os for a while. Recently i seem to notice issues like MSQuickApp corruption.
For example, after initial usage, i am unable to go to QuickApp when i press the Power key. it says, :MSQuickApp is corrupted or not found.
I cant go to any items in the slide menu.
But, after a warm-boot everything seems to work OK.
i have the following programs installed on my Vox.
Let me know if any of this app is buggy or i have a virus in my device.. !!!!!!
Cheers.
I had a similar error a few times. As you described it was gone after a reboot. But so far I couldn't find a reproducible situation when it happens. But it was usually after a long idle time for example over night.
yes you are right. after a overnight idle, i get this error.
i think i would go to bare minimum wm 6.1.1 from Doctor and add only few apps .
thanks for your observation [email protected]

Broken Screen Issue

This morning i got up and my screen looks as it was broken. Just like broken glass or something. Since my phone is just next to my bed i thought i accidently stepped on it during the night, but upon closer look it was not the screen but the software.
Everything seemed to be working normally, only in TF3D the is a pattern that makes it look like your screen is broken. When you switch to WM 6.1 screens it disappears. Switch back to TF3D and it's back.
Softreset solved the issue.
Any other people having this freaky issue?
You could think of it as a feature, like those fake bullet holes you put on glass. Too bad you can't figure out how to control it.

Happens to me too almost every second day. The other thing what happens in the morning, is that it reboots automatically.
I thought it is related to the charger, I was not using the TP charger, but a general USB one.
Now I switched to the factory charger, whith the factory cable, and still happens.
Somebody load magicSS onto thier device.....set it to a hardware button of some sort (if you can) and get a screenshot of it when it happens.

Had this problem on TytN II
I experienced this on my TytN II. I had it replaced in the shop I bought it from. It never happened again.... Don´t know if it is exactly the same issue but it looked the same as the screen shot above.....
Had it on my Touch Pro, I'm convinced its a software issue.
If it happens to you guys again try this:
1. Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items: Here, uncheck TouchFLO 3D.
2. Exit to today screen (you should see nothing but a black screen and the top and bottom bars (start menu etc)
3. Start -> Settings -> Today -> Items: Here, check TouchFLO 3D.
4. Exit to today screen. The TF3D interface should now be back and look like normal.

Exactly, all other programs/the rest of the interface is fine. ONLY TF3D is affected by this "broken glass" issue.
It's gotta be a software issue.
I had the same problem the first morning I got my TP. Then it didn't happend anymore. But today (5 days later) I got it during the morning.
I tried disable and reable the tflo3d plugin but it still was the same, only a sofy reset will help...
I think it's a software problem because the main clock isn't updating in stand-by mode (ounce I turn it on and the clock was set 30 minutes ago and then the clock fast fowarded itself to the right time) when the phone is set on a long time in stand-by mode and needed to be awakened, the clock need to adjust itself too much and the tflo plugin will crash.
Anyway if somebody knows how to solve it
btw, in a dutch forum many people got this issue..

If it happens again try launching some other application such as google maps, calculator, the messaging application (ie inbox or full message view etc) and see if looks ok. I am guessing those other applications will all look fine and only TF3D will be affected by the broken glass.
Hopefully a software problem.
I´ve never experienced the "broken glass" issue, but however as i posted earlier i got this screen (see attachment) when i woke up. Afterwards it suddenly disappeared with the error message from TouchFLO3D that i needed to restart the application. After restarting i´d never happend again.
Hoping new ROM´s will fix our issue´s.
EDIT: I noticed that all this screen issue´s usually happens in the morning how weird is that.
It looks like only the rom 1.90.401.1 has this problem ???
Is there anyone with another rom that can confirm this problem ?
And I think we have two different problems, ''the broken glass'' and ''the grey screen'' like the attachment of WatskeBart ??

Multiple Problems After ROM Upgrade?!?

I'm a noob who has been reading away for months, trying to learn as much as possible from the forums. This week I finally decided to try my hand at tinkering. I took my one-year old stock Kaiser and used JumpSoft to flash HardSPL v.3.29, then I upgraded to HTC ROM v3.28.405.0 (WM6.1) from their support website.
Since the "upgrade" I have been experiencing the following issues:
1. Occasional freezes (screen becomes unresponsive)
2. Some settings do not persist (e.g. backlight timeout, call display filter, etc)
3. The Weather Tab on the Today Screen can only retrieve the forcast when the device is connected to the PC or to a WiFi Network.
It seems as though the freezes can be fixed by installing the SPL that comes with the HTC ROM, but I have no idea how to extract it. Has anyone extracted it for us and posted it?
I haven't seen anyone else having problems with settings resetting themselves. Anyone have an idea on this one?
I have yet to find a clear fix for the weather problem...
Thanks in advance for all your help. This site continues to amaze me!
Well I guess it's not news to anyone that the HTC ROM is crap. BUT...it was news to me! Still hoping someone can help me out.
I assume You followed the standard procedure of making a Hard reset after the flashing was finished?
About the weather updating: Can you do MMS and get access to internet on the device using 3G or Edge
(The easy way is to test if QiockGPS work when not connected via USB/wifi)?
If not, check the connection and messaging settings (configure connections and MMS options if not autoconfig wizard is usable).
Thanks for the reply!
I did the hard reset, no problem there.
I fixed the weather update problem by editing my MEdia Net Proxy Settings. I'm not having any other problems with Internet, MMS, QuickGPS, etc.
Still hoping for fixes for the non-persistant settings, and for the occasional freezes...

Try flashing cmonex's HardSPL 3.29 as alot of people say it fixes screen freezes:
First Download cmonex HardSPL 3.29:
http://www.4shared.com/file/66276521...rdSPL_329.html
Flash cmonex HardSPL 3.29
1. Copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe and JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe to your device (NOT storage card)
2. Pull out the battery and reinsert it (this step *IS* important)
3. Connect your PC to phone with a USB cable
4. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
5. Turn phone back on
6. Run JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe on your device (make sure the USB cable is still connected). If you get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
7. After a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
8. Unplug and replug the usb cable after 30 seconds
9. Deselect "Allow USB connections" in Activesync connection settings (right click activesync bottom corner icon)
10. Now flash cmonex's hardSPL 3.29 (run KaiserCustomRUU.exe in the cmonex folder on your PC and follow instructions)
11. REPLACE SIM and SD CARDS !!
I know you fixed the weather bug but the official fix for that is:
1. Go to Settings - Connections - Connections - Advanced - Select Networks - Edit (MEdia Net) - Proxy Settings -> UNCHECK BOTH OPTIONS
2. Soft Reset
What intermitent problems are you having?

I've got Jocky's v3.29 on my Kaiser now, is cmonex's version different or is that link just a mirror for Jocky's HardSPL? If it is different, I will definitely give it a shot. I am hating my Kaiser right now.
As far as the intermittent problems, there are two bad ones that are driving me nuts:
1. The backlight times out after ~12 seconds, no matter what setting I have it on. Interestingly, the backlight no longer goes dim for a few seconds before the screen goes black as it did with the OEM ROM. This means that there is no warning before it goes dark...I'll be reading a NYTimes article and the screen just blacks out every ~12 seconds. I have tried changing the settings and powering down, soft resetting, even hard resetting--nothing works.
2. The missed call tab (under the clock on the right side of the HTC home screen) will only list missed calls. If I go to Menu>Filter and select "All Calls" it will show me all the calls going in, out, and missed, but as soon as I go back to the home screen and select the tab again, it will only show me the missed calls. I know that this is minor, but I really liked having all my calls there b/c it helps me keep track of call times for billing. Again, I have tried all manner of resets and this setting will not persist.
These two problems, along with the freezes, are the only problems I have noticed with this HTC ROM. HOWEVER, they are enough to make me wish I hadn't flashed. I am now scouring the threads for a stable and flawless cooked rom. Thinking of Dutty's Non-Cube Hybrid V2, but haven't finished reading the thousands of posts to see if all issues are resolved. Any favorites?
Thanks again for reading!

The link is to cmonex's HardSPL 3.29 and it has been patched so it is different and definitely worth trying if your screen keeps freezing as it fixed my screen freezes.
For the backlight problem try installing these 2 files then soft reset and see if it fixes it:

http://www.4shared.com/file/66383254/298acc7b/Fix_HD_III_OPAL_Backlight.html
I dont think the missed calls screen problem is anything to worry about since you can just press the 1st tab at the bottom of the screen to see the all calls list lol.
Im using HyperDragon3 6th oct Rom and it runs great for me (with a few tweaks):

LongPressSendKey (or End key for that matter) is an addon app to allow an app or function to be triggered when you hold down the Send/End key. On my Garmin.DK.4.3c ROM, I have the LongPressSendKey give me my Comm Manager, and my LongPressEndKey give me a menu of options (set phone to vibrate, lock phone, etc.)

X7510 Keeps Locking Up

Hey folks,
I have been having a lot of problems with my X7510 lately. The screen keeps locking up in standby mode. When the device is in standby I turn it on and it prompts me for my password. After putting in my password I just get a black screen with the word "password" at the top. While the device is in this state I can still sync (and see all of the files on it) when I connect to my computer. The screen on the device, however, is locked up. This problem has been happening several times a day lately and I cannot receive calls when it happens (nor do I get any indication of missed calls). The only way to get the X7510 to work is to do a soft reset.
At first I thought it might have something to do with the password manager, so I turned the password off today. A couple of hours later I found it locked up anyway. When I pressed the power button it did not come on at all, though the GSM and BT/WIFI lights continued to flash.
Is anyone having this issue? Were you able to figure out what was causing the problem? I am very frustrated right now. My device locks up so much that it is practically unusable since I have to do a reset 2-4 times a day.
Yes- I'm seeing the same issue from time to time. Haven't had time to investigate yet.
Last time it happened was yesterday- Green and Amber lights were flashing, but all buttons unresponsive, and had to do a soft reset.
Running PocketPlus 4.03 as a front end.
That is probably a software issue. Better enumerate your softwares and find out the common one causing it. Usually start with the last one you installed prior to having the problem.

I agree it's definitely a software issue. The only recent addition for me has been Spb Keyboard. PP4.03 has been on since day one, and did not initially seem to be associated with lockups.
When I have time, I'll try and narrow it down a bit.
I have not installed any new software in over six weeks. The only thing that has changed in the last week is an update to IM+. I have uninstalled it completely and will see what happens. If this fails I am not sure what to do.

Just for the record, I don't use any sort of Instant Messaging!
With my Advantage on the ultra-extreme blinks I suffered the tortures of the damned, tortures of the damned. No less than once every couple of hours I'd find my device locked up. Upon direction from my kind forum mates, I decided to uninstall the last software change on the not-so trusty X7510. After removing the IM+ software the PDA still locked up two more times that day. I gave up hope and decided to do an hard reset.
The next day, however, it did not hang up at all. The same goes for today, so after locking up five times a day for a week I have not locked up once in the last 48 hours. No hard reset and all is viddy well, little brother, Viddy well.
Unsure if it was the IM+ update or not, since it locked up twice after the uninstall, but I will not be reinstalling the IM+ update. In the name of science, I will install the original version this afternoon and see what happens.
Most gracious thanks to all those who took time out to reply to this thread.
I can concur that 3rd party software running in the background is usually the culprit.
In my case, I'm having an on-going saga with Hebrew localization bought from P.D.A.C. If I put the device to "sleep", with the email program set to download every 15 minutes (via wifi - no SIM installed), I come back to find a device that will turn on when the power button is pressed (a bit longer than usual), but then no response from any hardware button or screen - a soft reset via the hole in the back is the only way out.
I can in general say that the localization has other problems, like slowing the device down, and generally causing unpredictable hangs, but I'll save that for another thread.
To their credit, PDAC have taken a stab at trying to fix it, but since they don't have (and apparently don't intend to purchase) an HTC 7510 for testing, it's become a slow, hit-or-miss proposition.
One of the problems for gadget fiends like me who are not programmers is choosing a device that isn't massively popular - the support by third-party developers is not adequate. So here I find myself trying to learn how to fix what should work properly out-of-the-box.....and being frustrated by lack of background/knowledge.

Had this lockup problem since i received the device.
The other week in an attempt to fix this i have flashed to the latest 3.29 Rom from cmonex (thanks!) with ExtRom 3.29. As i have a Chinese x7510 version this ExtRom has fixed Opera text block problem, but still had constant lockup after putting unit into sleep mode.
Yesterday, i tried option 'Do not lock buttons' in Key Lock under Settings. Since I have not had one single lockup! Even having in sleep overnight, hit power button and up pops today screen. Normally i would have to soft reset.
This is what i have done so far. I'll have to start installing apps and see how it goes...
G'day from LA
Hi AvantX,
Another Aussie here, but living in LA for the last 7 years.
I loaded cmonex's hard SPL on to my x7510 some time ago, but so far I've been loathe to load an other ROM on to my x7510 as I have been unclear on the return path to the stock rom in the evet of a mishap. I've been hoping to see some ROM development on this forum similar to Kaiser & TyTN but so far we have not seen too much, other than the promise of AP4 amd MichyPrima's ROM somewhen.
Can you show here some screen shots of the 3.29 ROM? Does it look the same as the stock ROM and how does it run compared to the stock ROM? The stock ROM is 3.27.405.3 - is 3.29 an improvement? Does loading 3.29 affect the radio - mine is 1.58.
Thanks mate in advance.

Data problems related to S2U2??

This may be nonsense but I'm beginning to get a suspicion about S2U2 potentially being the cause of data connectivity issues for me.
I'm hoping I'm wrong because it's such a great program and I've used it on my last couple of phones.
Basically when I had my Touch HD, I had to reboot it pretty much daily if I wanted my data connection to work, otherwise I would get connectivity problems, but they would always be solved by a reboot.
I never figured out why this was, even though it was mega annoying. In the end I installed a cab to do a scheduled reset each night and it helped quite a bit.
Since I got my HD2 it has behaved perfectly as far as data is concerned and has not had a single connection fail with use every day for emails & browsing, UNTIL I installed S2U2 yesterday late afternoon, then last night it failed to connect. Yes you've guessed it, a reboot solved it.
I know that's hardly conclusive and I'm hoping it's not the case as I love using this program as an unlock screen, but I was wondering if anyone else has had any problems like this?
I was wondering if it was somehow also linked to my carrier too. The reason for this is that my friend also had a Touch HD and used S2U2 and never had this problem but he uses a different phone company. He now also has the HD2, and has installed S2U2 again and is fine, but mine is acting up, so it seems weird that it happens to both my phones but neither of his....
I know I could remove it to see if the problem goes away but programs sometimes leave bits behind when you uninstall.
Cheers
Jim
I get problems either daily or bi-daily where I have to reboot my HD2 to get my data connection to work again, (its connected but doesn't work). Every time its solved by a reboot.
I dont have S2U2 installed. If you find the reason behind the issue let me know as I am about to start doing a search into it.
Hmmm, maybe it's just coincidence then. But why would it have worked perfectly up to that point though, that's the thing that makes me wonder.
Mine also appears to be fine in terms of still displaying the GPRS signal/sign, but trying to retrieve emails or open the browser etc gives an error. It's maddening, whatever causes it!
Same thing again this morning when I told the phone to get my emails - connection failed. Worked fine after a reboot.
I'll see what happens tomorrow. If it does it again then I'm going to uninstall S2U2 and see what happens from then onwards. If it doesn't fix it then I guess it'll be a hard reset on the cards....
Back to original HD2 screen lock from 2SUS
Dear all,
Can tell how to change back to original lock after installed disable the screen lock? I don't like 2SUS needed so long to slide...
Just uninstall it, then press your windows button and hit the lock softkey.
I've removed it myself tonight even though I'm a long term S2U2 fan.
Since installing it a few days ago I've had even worse problems with ghost unlocks than before.
Previously the only issue was accidentally cutting calls off, but with S2U2 in use (standard lock disabled) I had a text from a friend on Friday asking if I was drunk. Somehow, whilst locked in my pocket it unlocked and sent a gibberish sms!
Then today, it also somehow unlocked in my pocket and dialled my mum!
I'm just glad I wasn't playing Call of Duty when it happened or she would have just heard "Sh1t!!! You cheating f***!!! WTF??? You..... FFS!!!!" etc
But seriously - I love S2U2 from previous winmo phones but it's made my HD2 worse so I've uninstalled it tonight sadly.
Isn't there a working fix for these bastard hard buttons yet? I LOVE this phone but the bloody hard keys are ruining it.
Hi Cret,
Thank you so much for your response. I did remove 2SUS and selected the Screen Lock from pressing the Power buttom but it doesn't auto lock each time...
Can you tell what to do such change Registry or I need to restore the original setting?
Thank you, dude.

Go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd and change DeviceLockWhenSuspend to 1
This should re-enable the lock...
Thank you very much!
I will try to see it works on my HD2.
Mine was the same ie the lock would not return.
I already had BSB tweaks installed which had a toggle for the lock though, so I just activated that.

Hi, did uninstalling S2U2 help on the connection failures?
Well, I only removed it last night but so far yes. I have not had to reboot the phone this morning and the data is working flawlessly.
Also - and this is a biggie! The battery life on the phone is MILES better without S2U2.
Normally the phone would be down to about 70% by lunchtime without even doing anything and it's still on 96% now - that's a massive improvement!
However, one thing has occurred to me as a possible cause of these issues - I've realised I was using a very old version of the program - v 1.5.
I think I'll try the latest one - 2.22 and have a look through the changelogs to see if there's anything mentioned in there along these lines.

Also - and this is a biggie! The battery life on the phone is MILES better without S2U2.
Normally the phone would be down to about 70% by lunchtime without even doing anything and it's still on 96% now - that's a massive improvement!
However, one thing has occurred to me as a possible cause of these issues - I've realised I was using a very old version of the program - v 1.5d.
I think I'll try the latest one - 2.22 and have a look through the changelogs to see if there's anything mentioned in there along these lines.
Here's two fixes right away in the next version relating to battery use:
- fixed the v1.50 issue of occasionally high CPU usage during idle.
- save more power than the old version when the device is sleeping.
v1.6
- removed option "Power Save" as the power leak problem is found & fixed.
I can't really be arsed reading through the rest of it but it's obvious there have been power issues addressed by subsequent versions so I'll try the latest and see how it goes.
