hi, i have been a regular reader of this forum and love to see people using their gray cells and producing some mind boggling stuff. I too wanna involve myself in now. I am a IT professional and have working knowledge of JAVA. but i guess most of the programs here are windows based. Can someone, specially the senior members, throw some pointer, where shall i begin my learning venture to develop some WM programs.
Thanks
Lokesh

Welcome to the forum
Not sure if this model is made by HTC as we dedicate this forum to HTC devices.
Perhaps other member can point you into the rigth direction
Good luck,
Its actually made by hp and to tell you the truth i have no idea what htc really is. Im sorry though but alot of the programs for most of the htc stuff has worked on it previously as well as currently and ive not really had any problems with it. I just want to make it more finger friendly as ive said before anyways. Im glad you guys will still accept me here no problems. I would be greatly appreciative of help with this matter no matter what though.

This is HTC and in general what XDA-DEVS is about:
Welcome to xda-developers.com
This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a firm called HTC in Taiwan. Their makers named them 'Wallaby', 'Himalaya', 'Blue Angel', 'Wizard' and 'TyTN', but almost nobody knows them by those names. The mobile provider O2 sells them under the brand-name 'XDA', and that's what we had in our hands first. They're also known as Qtek, MDA, SX-56, Hermes and many, many other names.
Since we develop software for it, we need information, and nobody seemed eager or ready to give us what we needed. So we 'reverse-engineered' the devices, found a lot of information, and shared it with the world. But as our site grew we realised that lots of ordinary users were also suffering from a lack of support. They started using the xda-developers forum to communicate and before long the forum was as much a user forum as it was a developer forum.
We hope that you will enjoy this site and find it as useful as we do. We encourage you to donate or otherwise support this site. Of course absolutely all proceeds from donations will benefit this community.
You are more than welcome!
Just wanted to let you know that we are HTC devices only
Good luck,
tis there noone that can help me at least with the .net com framework stuff.
Can some one post on how to change the .net compact framework it does run windows mobile 5 the only difference between this and a phone is the phone part everything else is the same so if someone can please help me with this I would greatly be appreciative.
Hi guys , it is true that herald is somehow out dated but we can still keep it alive by new looking roms ,sorry i donnot mean to spam or ask for free labor ,we will donate , from me as far as i live in Iran ,we donnot have credit cards to donate but we can done it by clicking and supporting sponserd links
anybody interested in keeping him alive!?
I think I have breathed all the life into the Herald/Wing/Dopod that I can:
I have made the Wing look like Windows Phone 7 (with my Trib7 Suite), like the HTC Evo (with my SPB Snark Edition), like the HTC HD2 (with my TribM2D ROM Set) and I have made Titanium available for the Wing. Not only that I have made it light and fast with my Base ROM with more than 70MB of internal storage.
In retro spect, I hope that new and old users of the device provide more ROMs. But I don't think it is feasible..
Not because of the people using the devices - not at all - but because of the limit to the device's resources and because Microsoft won't be putting out anymore updates: Build 23676 is the latest and greatest from Microsoft as of the 14th of August. After this, I don't believe that there will be anymore updates to work with.
As a challenge, mate, I'd like to see people out there make a ROM with this build.
I'm personally waiting for android to be better completed and then jump completely over to that... which is wing linux.
Still, while the wm 6.x are a huge improvement over what came with the phone and was definitely worth it and appreciated... there are a few bugs that are annoying. It would be great to see those fixed but I don't expect it to happen. The current state is good enough to be better anyway.
I agree
Hi everyone
Dear Tribulattifather or may i call you "the king of the wing"
i have used your roms and they are all best. as you mentioned we have a limited resources ... i would like to cook new roms but 1 thing that i donnot know where to start , many threads but as a noob to cook i need some clear directions ,if you can point me a good direction so i will be the soldier for you ,
thanks again for care Tribulattifather
Your the best !
I found your guide about cooking roms ! the best developer ever ! i will try to put my ideas and make a new rom but not as a challenge !!!!
Thank you; I really appreciate your patronage.
I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I was thinking about getting another Wing again. They're pretty cheap now.
If you make a ROM i'll test it out.
Thats good
Hi
Thanks ! is there any visual emulator of herald so it will help us preventing sudden bricking the phone ?
2- if i wanna use spb shell only i have to put it on cabs folder ?
thanks again
Well, if you plan on making custom firmware for your device you should HardSPL your phone.
But you actually don't need custom firmware for SPB.
There is unfortunately no emulator for our phones, however.
Thanks again .cuz i thought there was some emulator for hd2 , so i will try to collect as many icons as i can ! thanks again
Okay. Cool.
Hey, also, I just bought another Wing
So i'm ready whenever you are
Hey I'm a somewhat active member here and I'd REALLY like to learn more about ROM development, Unlocking, App development, Basebands, Radio versions... Ya know all that sweet stuff!
My problem is, I can't find any TuTs or How-Tos on XDA anywhere and nobody else has WinMo, WP7, and Android all on the same site! So could someone please point me in a good direction to learn about mobile software development? Please and thanks!
ADDITIONALLY: I'm looking for a good college path to stroll down and I'm definitley considering mobile phone development (software) and mobile phone repair (hardware). Can anyone give me an online tech school or a school in northern colorado that has either of these programs (but prefferably both)?
Thanks again!
hi, my name is dale. i have been a huge windows fan my whole life and just bought a new htc hd7. from my experience its similar to the iphone but doesnt compete with the new droid twin core phone. anyways, i fiddle with xna programming quite a bit, i can read it but not write it. on the xna platform there is also an option to compile to zunes format. i know those projects can be syncd onto my phone but what about actual app development? would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction? what software do i need to start learning? anyways, i would like to be a active member of this site, if anyone would like help with anything im sure i can hold down 2d and 3d tiles at the least.
looking forward to meeting all of you, your fav nublet ...
dale
You didnĀ“t see enough...
Welcome to forums,
Have a look on the off topic section
Hi guys and gals I'm new to the forum.
I've recently decided I wanted to get into app development, I am still yet to learn Objective C and Java but I want to be making apps for both iOS as well as Android.
I am thinking of getting an iMac 27-inch: 3.4GHz is it completely worth it or are there other alternatives out there with a cheaper or similar price tag? Please I would like informative responses so do not post unless its helpful as it will save my time and yours
I'm assuming this might not be a straight forward answer but the reason I want to get an iMac is due to the wider screen size and clearer display and for using XCODE (eventually) but I want to develop for Android also.
Would you also recommend any programmes or software to use for someone starting out with programming and development? Ideally for starting out and then the more complicated programmes for experienced people.
Thank you.
Bump, could someone please answer me.
