Hi guys and gals I'm new to the forum.
I've recently decided I wanted to get into app development, I am still yet to learn Objective C and Java but I want to be making apps for both iOS as well as Android.
I am thinking of getting an iMac 27-inch: 3.4GHz is it completely worth it or are there other alternatives out there with a cheaper or similar price tag? Please I would like informative responses so do not post unless its helpful as it will save my time and yours
I'm assuming this might not be a straight forward answer but the reason I want to get an iMac is due to the wider screen size and clearer display and for using XCODE (eventually) but I want to develop for Android also.
Would you also recommend any programmes or software to use for someone starting out with programming and development? Ideally for starting out and then the more complicated programmes for experienced people.
Thank you.
Bump, could someone please answer me.

Ok, I just ordered my Cect P68+ so I still haven't recieved it yet. But, I have been trying to learn all that I can about it. It looks like only now is someone possibly able to break into it. I use this forum, http://p168.myfreeforum.org
It is great (just like xda-developers). the OS is called...probably won't say this correctly...Neuclues OS? Think that is how you spell it. Anyways, it does not have Java which is what everyone wants to be able to do applications, it needs an embedded java to be added to it's OS to run the types of apps everyone wants. It looks to be a fun iphone clone, and reasonable @ only $160.

QVGA on 3.5" screen is gonna be pretty grainy, isn't it?
hi, my name is dale. i have been a huge windows fan my whole life and just bought a new htc hd7. from my experience its similar to the iphone but doesnt compete with the new droid twin core phone. anyways, i fiddle with xna programming quite a bit, i can read it but not write it. on the xna platform there is also an option to compile to zunes format. i know those projects can be syncd onto my phone but what about actual app development? would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction? what software do i need to start learning? anyways, i would like to be a active member of this site, if anyone would like help with anything im sure i can hold down 2d and 3d tiles at the least.
looking forward to meeting all of you, your fav nublet ...

Welcome to forums,
Have a look on the off topic section
I will be the first to tell you I am not tech savvy at all! I have been doing some research with regards to this and have used many resources avail, including this site.
I have read most of the answers to my questions but still require assistance. I have the HTC Desire with with my local internet provider Cox Communications and I have a 10.2 inch tab through wowpad that is powered by Android supertab. It is operating on 2.1. My HTC is 2.2. I am very new to the smart phone world and tablet world.
Is there a way to just simply upgrade my tab to a new OS? Do most of you feel that rooting my phone is the way to go, because I never ever have storage that I need. I know it comes down to a personal choice. Or, will my phone eventually upgrade to a new OS?
I really want to do my tablet but honestly I literally need step by step directions in doing so. If I mess this up on my own, my wife and daughter will kill me. Thanks in advance to all of you. This is truly the best site in the world!
How would rooting your phone solve your storage issue?
More Storage
From what I understand, I will have superuser rights and that would allow me to delete some of the stock programs to free up space. Is that right?
Help
Is there anyone out there willing to help with this issue? It would be greatly appreciated.
This Sucks
Ummmm Wow! I thought I would get some help with this, but I guess not. I guess I'll try another site.
Take it easy, look up your device in the forums and look for how to root.
It's not that hard to do and most devices have a manual how to.
Take a look at this:

Thank you
Thank you krt. That is exactly what I needed. Thanks again.
Hello everyone. I finally joined the site after months of using it as a valuable learning resource.
I am looking for ideas on an app to make, specifically for an in-car tablet set-up. I have a nexus 7 permanently installed in my car and have designed a couple of apps for it already. I made a custom launcher and a music player already so I have those ideas taken care of. The set-up is still relatively new so I haven't really encountered that "ah ha" moment for an idea yet based on necessity....
If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. I want to start coding but I don't know what to make haha. Thanks in advance!
Hello All,
So in the end it appears that I should get a new laptop. Will stick with Windows environment and Android Studio. But thought maybe I would ask here if anyone had a decent idea of what a good "non-budget" busting laptop would be? RAM wise, processsors, etc.
In the end I'll need an Android tablet that uses voice, but that part can wait while I learn the basics of Android programming. So if anyone has any thoughts they would like to through out, please feel free.
Thanks ahead, as always.
