Could someone possibly strip the new PIE, threaded text messaging, new Homescreen and other new apps from the new WM 6.1 roms so they would work on WM 6.0?
K
I put together a cab file for the threaded text messaging but it can't be installed. It replaces the original tmail.exe file but it seems to be protected. I tried killing the processes but still don't work.
I know some people are been playing with PIE 6.1 and have issues.
What about installing the files elsewhere and trying to call them up from the new location?
K
I tried that and it doesn't work. When you try to run tmail.exe it says that it is not a valid Windows CE app
Attached is the cab that I created if you want to play with it (it installs under the \program files\wm61 directory)
freyes01 did you tried to modify ROM WM6 , simply to add those files ?
In that cab all files that need to work tmail.exe?
Yes but it doesn't work on WM6.0. It gives you an error related to tmail not been designed for that OS version.
Now I'm running WM6.1....

Hey is anyone ever going to find a work around for the TouchFlo weather on T-Mobile network ? I heard something about proxy. Couldn't we just create a new connection or modify the registry. I REALLY MISS MY WEATHER INFO........
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319982&highlight=weather+proxy
Thank you. I had search several times using touchflo and came up empty.
Anyone get this to work other than install the cab? I've tried several times to cook it into a ROM, but all didn't work. Not sure what the problem is, the plugin installs, but doesn't show anything at all.
just watch the weather report.. mam..
I have a T-Mo MDA... To get Mine 2 Work I had to reinstall the HTC Home Plug-in and not use the one cooked in the rom
The HTCHome.dll file from the link above expects the images to be in \HTCHome not in \Windows so for now (until I learn how to cook a rom with stuff in places other than \Windows) I install the cab, then copy \HTCHome directory to \HTCHome2 then copy the HTCHome.dll to HTCHome2.dll then uninstall the cab rename \HTCHome2 to \HTCHome and HTCHome2.dll to HTCHome.dll and it works. Kinda of a pain, but at least the weater app works.
I'm cooking a ROM, but I dont know how to import WM5 apps to WM6. The first time I tried was a failure, I just copied the apps files and dll's and just drag it inside the WM6 folder and created the ROM and installed, but once installed, I got an error that it doesnt show the sliding panel, just black, then when I press start, the icon shows that it cannot locate the program, the icon looks like a file with a windows logo on it.
I really need help in importing WM5 files in WM6.
i have a touch pro and i am trying to use a 6.5 rom that is barebones and he also posts a kitchen. the chef said it would be better to install everything you want via cab rather than the kitchen because you can upgrade your apps without the hassle of having to flash again. most of the htc programs such as the taskmanager, manila, mp3 trimmer, etc etc, i can find as an oem package, but very little cabs of the updated app exist. that said, since i am only able to find them via oem, my question is, HOW CAN I MAKE A CAB FROM AN OEM USING WINCE CAB MANAGER? i have that program but dont know where the oem files go, what registries to put, etc etc....for example, if im trying to use a dialer to make a cab, i know the png files go in the windows folder, but what about the other files? there are obviously reg entries too, where can i see where these reg entries go?
so then nobody knows?
Im going to upgrade to Win 6.5 when its released so i was collecting the CAB's for the applications I have installed.
However I have some applications installed that I cannot find the CAB's for or they are now charging for applications that used to be free.
Is there a way to dump the applications off the phone back into CAB's ready to re-install after the new OS??
Cheers
If you could identify every file and registry value that goes with the application, it would be easy to build a .cab file from that. There are a few .cab file "packaging" programs around. I use Cab Manager.
SK tools (or the newer SK CABIntegr) does exactly what you want. You can re-pack any programs that appear in the installed programs list into cabs, and you can add custom files and reg values as well. It's easy to do (but you have to pay for either program). If you don't already have sk tools, it's pretty much a must-have program. If you do have sk tools, you may need to upgrade to the latest version to get the improved cab manager.
Thank you very much I will take a look at this now
Under WM 6.5 in the Windows directory I find "Hidden Store/Tasks" that contains a large number of files of the kind *.tsd - what are these? Can they be deleted
I just backed them up and deleted them all from my Samsung O2. Everything appears to work the same. When I run some programs a tsd file gets created for that program. I think they are like a log ?
