Sync with Vista Contacts, Calendar, Mail? - General Topics

As being a Vista user, I was wondering if there exist a way to synchronize my Prophet with the integrated Windows Contacts and Windows Calendar app's instead of Office Outlook?

Mobile device center picked this up on my wifes computer because office outlook was never installed. Try uninstalling outlook, unpair your device (delete profile) from MDC and then try it again.

It won't sync... My Polaris was paired prior to installing Outlook, and it didn't work at all....

I did try to uninstall Outlook (wich was no problem) and unpaired my device.
When I tried to setup the relationship again, WMDC grayed out the options to sync Contacts, Agenda etc. because "Outlook is not installed".
Pitty......

To my knowledge, Windows Mobile will only sync locally with Outlook.
My girlfriend's Vista laptop does not have Outlook installed and I am unable to sync calendar/contacts etc using that PC.
My Vista laptop has Outlook installed and it sync's perfectly fine.

I posted this same question on the Microsoft boards and the moderator stated what we expected: syncing is only possible with Outlook.
So, that's it then, back to Outlook! (I like clean systems......)

Support Code:85010014

I have a WM5 Device trying to sync with outlook and am getting this Support Code:85010014 when I select the view status link in Activesync (v4).
AS4 allows me to sync favorites and notes, but not contacts, calendar, email, and tasks. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!
Before you re-install..
Are you using Outlook 2003 in "Offline" mode? If so, try running Activesync while CONNECTED to your Exchange server... This worked for myself and possibly a few others here.
Good luck! Hopefully you won't have to re-install Outlook which seems to be the ultimate fix.
Just checked the original post date... hope the original poster fixed the issue.

No, I don't use exchange. I realy hate outlook compared to Eudora for my needs. Mail accounts are on standard Unix POP/SMTP Servers. Outlook is forced due to contacts integration on PDAs.
Windows Mobile 5 Support Code: 85010014
I solved the same problem in a different way - On ActiveSync in the File menu there is an option to Delete Mobile Device. I picked that, deleted the device and then re-established the partnership between the mobile device and the PC. Sync started working perfectly right away.

Activsync Problem

I have recently chnaged PC's. Everything is fine BUT when I try to sync my XDA2i I get an error message saying
"Microsoft Outlook is no longer installed, so ActiveSync cannot continue to run. To continue synchronisation, reinstall Microsoft Outlook. If you no longer want to synchronise your data, disable synchronisation in ActiveSync"
Well I tried re-installing Outlook and guess what - no change.
I have a nice new copy of Office 2003 Small Business Edition and Outlook 2003 is most certainly part of it and installed.
Could this be something to do with exchange server? I'm totally stuffed and I'm already missing appointments.

contacts, messenger and outlook - the 7th circle of hell

Hi there,
I got a WM6 phone full of contacts. I've been using the phone with Windows
Live and I have spent hours tidying up contacts with MSN live accounts and
so on.
As I reinstalled the OS on my PC, I deleted the partnership of my WM6 phone in order to start fresh. Everything works fine if wasn't for the fact that my existing contacts simply WON'T SYNC. I'm using Windows XP SP2 with Activesync 4.5.0 and Outlook 2007 (installing SP1 as I write this).
I tried to tick/untick the option to sync my contacts. All I got as a result is that ALL of my non live-enable contacts have been whiped out (yes, OUCH!)
If I create a new contact on the phone (outlook contact only) or on the PC the new contact will sync. But as for existing contacts they are simply ignored!
If I copy an existing contact, IT WON'T SYNC
If I try to modify an existing contact, IT WON'T SYNC
If I try to create a new Windows Live contact, IT WON'T SYNC
I tried to delete the profile and parterships to start fresh but I got no luck. Could someone please advise? I'm about to to flip out here!
Thank you all in advance!
Regards,
P

Can't sync Outlook Notes

Running WM6, and been working as perfectly as a M$ can.
All of sudden, the Notes stopped syncing with my Outlook.
Outlook is XP SP3, connected to an exchange server.
The Notes are in my Personal Folders.
Any suggestions on how to get them to sync up?

WMDC

Hello,
ive just reinstalled windows vista and outlook 2007. imported my contacts ok into outlook. synced htc touch hd and established partnership seemingly ok. however, WMDC doesnt let me choose outlook contacts and calendar when i want to decide what data settings to sync? its as if WMDC doesnt think outlook is there!
anyone?
tried reinstalling etc. this was working perfectly before. i.e when managing what information to sync, there was a clear choice between windows contacts and outlook contacts etc
