I have a stand alone QTEK S200 with:
ROM version:2.9.7.24WWE
Radio Version: 02.07.20
ExtROM version: 2.9.7.8009
and would like to do the following:
1. I would like to be able to see the extROM
2. I would like to extract somehow some CAB files from the extROM
3. I would like to be able to transform an application CAB file.
4. I would like to put again the trasformed CAB file into the Ext. ROM
Please does anyone know if and how can I do the above? Do I need some special tools for that?

PS: I lloked everywhere for the above information, but I didn't manage to find something relevant!
Opening the ext ROM is easy:
Just get a reg editor and change the following values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001
Extracting cabs is as easy as just copying them out.
You can also change the cab contents with apps like CE Cab Manager, then copy them back. The only problem is signatures. Once you change the cab it looses its signature and you are prompted whether you want to install it or not.

anyone can describe easily How can i do it?
I search the forum but I don't find suitable TOOLS and guide for AKU3.3.13 (WM5)
Please help me and tell me compltely software I needed for cooking (changing) ROM and ext_Rom and easily help.

YEah i would like to get rid of some programs or applications i never used! Windows update, streaming media, calculator (as i use a 3rd party one), internet sharing... if i get 4mb free i could increase page-pool and reach 12mb

why do you want to increase page pool size to 12 mb, the default is 12 in official rom and we decrease it to get more RAM, and it does not need more space to increase it

Please describe more...after I install AKU13 the free main memory was about 30MB and after I install some program suck as SPB and ...in storage card and main memory it is decreased to 20 MB.. I know that Operation System (WM5) installed in main memory IF i can unistall some program that I don't use in AKU3 it means the main memory is increased...am i true? if not please help...help about Memory in PPC.
I searched the software u say...but I can't understand because they use WM6 and my operation system is AKU13....please help more.

that will not increase the meomory, only you will have more useless space in the ROM you can;t use
or it may free the memory if you load them in the memoery (i.e. you run them or they are in startup programs, or they just ran in memory, like windows live messnger)
use taskmgr 2.7 to know what files in the memory and what services are runing, disable and close all useless programs and services and you have more free memoey
in the memory program how much total memory do you have?
in 12 mb pool size you will have 44.07 I think
in 8 mb pool size you will have 48 mb total memory and it is nothing to do with the ROM or programs in the ROM
I'm busy right now but I'll chek the ASERG 3.3.13 page pool for you ok, I did cook a room but for my needs 6 mb page pool size

If we can change the ROM, we can install more useful program in ROM then we don't need to install them on main memory or storage card.

use IMGFS 1.82 for delete and add files
and use rgucomp for edit registry

My main Question is:
1- How to change(cook) WM5 Rom (jamin) AKU3.13 ?
2- I use IMGFS but how can i access to the files and program that be in OS.nf file? to delete or add some of them.
3- BUILDOS.exe required in wiki said ! I don't find this file in this site !! and in the COOKING PACKAGE
so would u plz help me to cook AKU3.13 ROM for my Jamin (personal ROM)

Hey i cannot find the wiki how to cook a rom any help? i just saw that FARIA thing. I'd like to port a rom from wizard
use the following:
1- prepare_imgfs.exe os.nb -nosplit
2- viewimgfs.exe imgfs_raw_data.bin ((((edit the files as you need in the dump folder))))
- or you may use addfile or delfile like this
DelFile.exe filename.ext (dependes on the file name and ext for example camera.exe)
AddFile.exe filename.ext (for example camera.exe newer version but put it in the same folder of ASERG rom to add it)
3- BuildImgfs.exe (if you edit files in the dump folder only)
4- make_imgfs.exe os.nb -nosplit
5- edit the folder ExtRom as you need you may delete the Russain keyboard
6- run Upgrade_rom.bat
and wish me best of luck as I have only bad luck if you find me useful

how can i know which files are for whic program? for example i want to remove Camera program, it have DLL files and more...or i want a program MSN Live...which dll are for selected program?
I want to Add Resco Explorer to this ROM..how can i do it?
I have an exe file for installing resco explorer/..or CAB file for Resco Explorer..so how can i put this program (add this program) to this ROM?

I flashed my Wizard with the base OS ROM version 5.2.318 (build 15342.0.0.0, customization) published in this forum about a month or so...
After flashed, it just start the OS without running the Extended_ROM content, so I installed all cab files inside Extended_ROM folder by myself.
What I should modify in order this run automatically on next hard-reset?
You have a G4 Wizard looking at your signature, thus the files Autorun.exe and Config.txt (a list of all the cabs in the right format- these files can be found in the Faria Ext-rom tutorial package) need to be in the \Windows folder but they can still point to run Cabs from the Extended ROM. Check the registry before cooking to see it points to the autorun file then you're good to flash.

Perhaps it is a newbie question so please bear with me.
I have an i-mate K-Jam flashed with TNT rom (build 20273). It works perfect and nice, however (frankly speaking) I don't like or want some of the APPs installed with this ROM, but I can't uninstall them.
I've searched this forum to find a way to extract the OS (OS only) from TNT rom so that I can flash my wizard and then install all the APPs I want, with no luck. Perhaps my search skills are a little poor...
So would someone please explain if it is possible or not? and if yes, how?

You cannot remove apps from a cooked rom. Search for Vanilla roms if you just want the base rom without any extras and then you can install you own apps.
well you can, but for that u'll have to dump the ROM first, remove the apps you dnt like and recook it
you can not dump the TNT roms. when you try, there are no RGU'S or DSM's.
You can dump my rom if you like, but you will get some missing files you will have to put back into the oem.
the missing files come from me not editing the rgu's when I cook.
try dumping Hornet5. for the most part you will get complete packages, but also some "missing files". just put them back into the oem/sys and recook.

I finally managed to cook my own rom. Everything works perfect except that:
1) I've used XIP, SYS and OEM files/folders of different builds. Am I going to have problem later?
2) "CommManager.exe" was missing. I've searched the files used in kitchen and the only thing I found is "commmanager.htm". Later I managed to download and install HTC CommManager but I can't assign in to its button (button 6). Is there any solution for that?
3) How may I extract the "splash screen" from one build, and upload it to my phone?
4) Bluetooth is not working. It says there is no bluetooth hardware on device. Also WLAN disconnects after a few seconds. How may I extract the drivers from original ROM and upload it?
I know the above questions are too much, but actually I'm so excited that my first attempt to cook a rom was successful (almost). I hope one of you experts be kind enough to help me solve the above issues and have a perfect phone.

you will have some problems with the initflashfiles.dat in the oem, as well as the "oemtranslation.prvxml" or something which controls your icons for programs and control panel.
The best thing to do is use the same build OEM SYS & ROM folders.
If you dumped hornet 5, then your best bet ist to work with everything in it. I was working at this rom after Sleurhut for about a month or two.
mixing builds of those folders makes you start from scratch again fixing up your oem again.. and again.
as far as the missing files, try using the Xdump method; or use the searcher on your PC to find the missing files folder and the contents.

As I've mentioned before, I'm a total newbie trying to have a clean WM6.1 on Wizard. I've searched and read lots of tutorials here and there, but there are still lots of questions remained.
I tried to play with HyperCore (multi-device) today and I failed in the first step. I've extracted the "nk.nbf" from official i-mate KJam ROM using WinRAR. HyperCore is installed and I've a "C:\Core" folder as well as a "HyperCore" folder on my desktop.
The "DumpRom" is asking me to make sure the "nk.nbf" is in "HyperCore\Extract\Source" folder. Well it is there. Press Enter and the error message says: "There is no nk.nbf in Core\Extract\Source".
No it is not. First, it asked me to put it in "HyperCore\Extract\Source" not "Core\Extract\Source". Second, there is no "Extract" folder under "C:\Core". Even after creating Extract\Source under C:\Core and copying nk.nbf there, the same error message appears again.
So, what I'm missing here?

I'm also scratching my head on this problem too. I've even tried creating extract\source folders in locations C:\core\ and desktop\hypercore\ but still no luck.
I'm wondering however that the issue could be caused by vista/7's change from Documents and Settings\user\desktop (2000, XP) to Users\user\desktop.
It may change the way the batch files are called but i'm really rusty on batch commands these days
I would start with the sticky "How to cook a ROM" thread, focusing on CRACING's kitchen, then move to Nekid Angel (Post #3)
where you will find a more updated ROM ready to cook. If you want to try WM6.5 a good ROM and kitchen is at [WM Kitchen] Wizard Kitchen or CRACING's RC6. I have been playing around with that.
You might move your discussion to one of the cooking or kitchen threads mentioned above, too, since that is where others will look.

I want to do a simple job: backup my actual kaiser rom, modify my rom adding/removing some application, then cook the new modified rom.
I was looking for a lot of time inside the forums for a guide/tutorial how to dump my actual KAISER rom , then modify it adding/removing some applications, then cook the new ROM to be flashed.
After a look around I was able to dump correctly part000.raw,part001.raw,part002.raw and part003.raw.
After I downloaded kaiserkitchen_01_20_08 and installed it.
Then I downloaded Alex 5.1 OEM packages and copied into c:\kaiserkitchen\packages.
Then I downloaded Alex 5 HT ROM 3.03 and copied into c:\kaiserkitchen\sys and c:\kaiserkitchen\sys
I moved .raw files in c:\kaiserkitchen\BaseROM
Then I started kaiserkitchen.cmd. I followed instructions to extract a dumped rom and cook it. The black window worked for some minutes and finished with message : Ignore any error while deleting files ! followed by 10 lines with message Impossible to find specified file...
All seems to be ok here. Yes ?
From here I can not go on, because when I launch BuldOS+PackageTools I can see only some applications that I imagine are from Alex oem, but I want to work only with my applications and I can not find them ! Where are applications installed in my actual ROM. How can I use them to rebuild my own ROM ?
