http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1977766&postcount=30

thanks you very much.

when I try to use this version with my touch keyboard it just types numbers and symbols no matter what I do. I have to switch to the standard kb for it to work. any suggestions?

No luck I turned that and everyother options off too just incase and it still just shows numbers. Can anyone chime in if they are using this version of opera with the standard Touch cruise keyboard?
Thanks!

touch keyboard does not work for me either!
It is really a big shame!

It's a known issue. And if you try to use pocketCM it will put a space between every character. Yes it's lame but it's still a beta. Hopefully these things will be fixed.

Does anybody know when the final edition will be released?

Coming form an iPhone baack to WM I can say that the final version of Opera 9 will be SWEET! Even with its bugs Opera 9 is quick and very fluid feeling. I can't wait for the final release!

in german ppc-welt forum an o2 rep said that the WM6.1 update for the Orbit 2 (=Touche Cruise from o2) will contain Opera Mobile 9.5

By the way I have to revise my statement about the known issue. So I had PocketCM 0.13 installed that gave me a space between each character in Opera. After installing 0.14 I do not have that issue anymore. It only happens with certain characters. For example a space will put 2 spaces sometimes. So while a slight problem still there, it's way better than what it was before with a space between each character.

Is ther a way to make the paragraphs "fit to screen", as in opera mini ? (sort of a compromise between full page and mobile view modes)
This opera mobile is perfect, but I hate horizontal scrolling !

Yeah there is. click and hold some where on the web page and a menu will pop up. Hit "Limit paragraph on". That will do it.

Is the Touch Pal keyboard working with Opera 9? I would try it, but I do not want to have to hard reset to restore Opera 8 that came on my TC.
Thanks to anyone who can toss ot n answer!

You can't restore opera 8 when you have installed opera 9.
The only way is the hard reset
I'm sorry

That's not true, I have both installed side by side. Opera 8 & 9.

new beowser client Teashark

Hi guys take a look at this
http://teashark.com/index.html
just tryed it has some bugs but it is very promising
portrait to landscape on my vox turns in less than a second
it as tabs with preview and it is very responsive....
SSL connections do work well also.
It's based on Webkit the same engine that moves Safari 3.
and i forgot to say that is free
How did you get it to work when the site says that it is not for Windows Mobile at the moment?
Roland
Hey Rolandh did you notice that your signature has a typo
It's a jad/jar file so it works perfectly on esmertec Jbed...like operamini.etc...
simply Point your WAP browser at wap.teashark.com.
or download TeaShark from your PC and transfer it to your phone: http://teashark.com/download.html

Yeah I did, just not got round to correcting it yet lol
Meh. It looks really good with the panning and cursor but the font isn't configurable. I really like the way the history and back works with be able to jump all the way back or just a few pages using the preview icon. That is really good.
When it comes out of BETA, it's going to be great.
its strange this program is SO similar to opera mini, even the menus are almost the same. its either a copied version of opera mini, or a modded version of it! hmmm..
Well, it's based on Web Kit, so it aint just a copy!
This browser is great!!
I didn't notice that many bug. I reported one regarding the full azerty keyboard : some keys won't work as expected.
I'm not sure why but the fonts really look ugly when I run Java applications (so same with opera mini); is there any way to enable some anti aliasing or something similar ?
I think this is a very cool browser.
If you have problems with your qwerty keyboard, select edit when entering an adress It will work like this.
For the fonts and antialiasing, I guess you are running JBed - Build 20071119.3.1. If so, antialiasing it`s not working.
Other than that, it is an interestng browser. Let`s say it might be a competition in the future for Opera mini.

Should I update Opera?

My brother just got an HTC Fuze with Opera 9.5 Build 2392. The Beta 2 release that came out a few weeks ago is Opera 9.51 Beta Build 2723. Should I update? Will it break anything?
I just read this:
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/7848.html
I haven't tried it yet. With the separate Youtube app on my Fuze, I probably wouldn't use it that much anyway.
2808 is out.
where do u update opera from? i'd like to upgrade to the newest version..

TP keyboard madness with this latest release..... Glad for PIE and Skyfire to hold me over while Opera is still failboat.
GOD yes.... IE 6.0 sucks...
opera is a beautiful browser, Skyfire shows some serious promise but I like the fluidity of opera.. I use this for my main desktop browser. hands down, opera is sweet!
tvos
opera mobile
who is using this beta on a touch pro?? anyone, and what are the effects good and bad if any.
Windows Mobile 5/6 Pocket PC, version 9.51b2
I have 9.5 1938 on my phone now and havent upgraded until i see some of you all with some feedback on the beta
I am using 2745 Flash Lite 3.1. It seems fairly stable, but a bit slow. I'm not certain that I'm really getting much benefit from Flash and suspect that it may slow things down. Sometimes pages seem to pause while loading. Screen rotation and keyboard work fine. Just the usual difficulty pressing/selecting a button (link) on a page.
There's no reason to use Opera Beta on the Fuze/Touch Pro. There are two incredibly annoying bugs that don't affect the OEM version: first it doesn't flow text properly and bunches it up into small columns and second it resets your SIP to the small WM keyboard no matter what. The OEM versions have none of these problems.
I like build 2808 over 2745 because the scrollbars (and dropdown lists) are now actually usable. The secret to upgrading the OEM version on a device with Opera on it already is that you only have to upgrade 2 files: Opera9.exe and OperaL.exe. Use MSCEInf (google it) to export these two files from any 2808 cab on this forum and copy the two files to your \Windows folder.

best browsing experience on touch pro

hey guys, i was thoroughly disappointed with opera mobiles performance.. it really sucked (for me at least). Page would take a long time to open, and the windows would move all over the place while the page was loading, etc. Anyways, i finally decided to download opera mini and its a world of a difference, its amazing! however to do it correctly, follow this guys advise:
http://mobilitysite.com/2008/06/running-opera-mini-41-on-windows-mobile-2/
dont just go to operamini.com and download the version they tell you, because then you have to agree to that message everytime you go to a page. if you do it the way this guy says, you only have to give permission the first time you open opera. he also shows you a way to have it as a program, eliminating the need to open the jbed java app to launch from there.
another thing i did, is because our device is vga, the font was small. i set it to extra large, and its very good. even the scrolling is much better on the mini version, and ITS MUCH FASTER!! i cant emphasize the last one enough. anyways, just wanted to let u guys know, good luck
ps: also, something that is huge for me, typing something into a webpage is also much better now. on opera mobile, i would have to try to fit the screen size so i can see what i'm typing; with opera mini, it opens a new window for you to t ype in, it's like your typing in word or something. makes a huge difference IMO
omar
I couldn't agree more.
Unless something is wrong with just my phone, I can't see how anyone would like Opera Mobile.
Just open any forum page here. Probably takes 20-30 seconds to load on Opera Mobile on a fast Wifi connection...and that's after it takes 5-10 seconds to just load up.
Do it on Opera Mini and it takes maybe 2 on a 1x connection, even.
Opera Mini doesn't have tabs, but you are saving so much time elsewhere, that's livable.
It also runs through a proxy, so I guess you could get stale pages or https stuff won't work great.
But, for 95% of the browsing I do, Mini works perfectly and is unbelievably fast and it's clear on the vga screen.
I also chose Extra Large fonts.
If you decide to use Opera Mini, here's a way to make it the "default" for opening links.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384271
Have you guys tried the newer version of Skyfire? If so, do you like Mini better?
ya i use mini much more than mobile
btw just download this zip, extract cab and install it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=113596&d=1221663410
it will ask if u want to make mini default browser...also installs java if u dont have it.
i change my image quality to high and font to biggest settings
I'm using UCWEB6 and I'm quite satisfied. Fast enough, tabbed browsing, easy to use..
yeah, im done using opera mobile, mini works so good!
i also use piscel and sometimes skyfire if im next to an ac jack... ill use ie just as i do on desktop, BUSINESS ONLY!
I used Opera Mobile for about a minute....
Help: I am having a problem with Mini not fully loading pages and getting white screens. I have Jbed 2.1 (read it was better than the newest version) and the newest Mini. Any advise?
I love the speed of Mini (thanks for posting the download link), but even on extra large the text is very very small. Is there a way to make it show up bigger?

Are you using the generic version? Seems like UCWEB6 was made for Nokia devices not HTC
Another opera mini fan here, the fastest browser I have used, that includes skyfire. Only issue is lack of tabs, but otherwise its great

No, I'm using this one. It says ppc2003 but it's working fine on all my devices, supports both VGA and QVGA
im using a mix of ucweb and operamini.. loving it. the only thing wrong with this phone is the lack of softkeys.. makes browsing with mini a little harder..
I've been using the "vga" version of skyfire since it came out, and I love it for its full browsing experience, speed, and ability to watch video in the browser.
Thank you for this thread!
I never used opera mini before and I was amazed by it's speed. It's not going to be my default browser (that's still PIE because I almost only view sites which are optimized for mobile devices) but it's absolutely perfect for viewing this forum for example!

This crashed for me. Whole device froze up.
Opera Mobile.. it's just CRAP compared to Opera Mini.
CONS Opera Mobile:
- load time (HTC/Opera cheat by preloading Opera at StartUp)
- lots of squares while dragging
- many times while you drag the stupid software cannot make difference between dragging and tapping
- if you drag the page and the page is still loading, you are dropped to other position that you are.. this is so annoying.. you have to drag again or wait until all the page elements are loaded by the browser
So, Opera Mini is very good on the majority of sites. (there are problem with the pages with many images, it cannot handle all of them).
I'm using a VGA version of jbed and I don't have problem with font size ANYMORE.
Big thanks to trueg. Get it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2973176&postcount=23
if i'm not mistaken, the reason why opera mini is so fast is because the pages are actually cached or pre-processed by Opera servers and then sent to you. with Opera mobile, you connect to the website directly.

That's very strange. It works great on my Blueangel, Wizard, Universal, Trinity and Raphael with all the custom roms I have installed on them and with the shipped rom on the Raphael the first day I got it.
Try installing on the SD card or the device memory, whichever you haven't tried.
Still have to say yes
Anyone else having issues with still having to click yes every time you try and go to a site? If I exit and open, the first time I try to open I get this annoying request. Followed the directions exactly and had no problems?
Also can't seem to browse with this on wifi, anyone else having this issue?

Yes, I have the same issue. But since I just have to click ok once in every session it's ok for me.

going back to opera 8.65

ok opera 9.5 is really pissing me off and i absolutely hate the fact that every time i load a new link i have to double click to zoom back in and see waht im looking for. I also hate the fact that in order to view what tabs i have open i have to click on that little box at the bottm and play a gusesing game as to what the tabs opened are.
opera 8.65 also had an option to click in the settings to recognize your device as a handheld or as a desktop computer which solved the ever so rampant problem people are complaining about with 9.5 of the browser not recognizing full html sites and defaulting to mobile versions. you shouldnt have to edit the god damn registry and screw with at many settings JUST in order to visit the full version of a webpage! opera prides themselves at giving you the true full internet experience but little do they tell you that its up to you to screw with your phone and figure out how!
anyways, i was just wondering if anyone like me had gotten fed up with this latest installment of opera and reverted back to the previous version that ACTUALLY had all the good bells and whistles that worked properly?
shade
While I agree with your points, its really the best option at the moment outside of Skyfire. To be honest Skyfire to Touchscreen phones is not what it was for Smartphones, its just not that refined/accurate/reliable/fast yet. Hopefully when full VGA comes out to Skyfire we can really dump Opera for good (kidding).
Opera also needs to understand that people want flexibility with the scroll wheel on the bottom of the phone. Why zoom when I could scroll down the page and double tap zoom if necessary. Why not also adjust the sensitivity of the screen to not always zooom out everytime I'm

I Am Running Opera 8.65 On Fuze
I installed 8.65 on my Fuze storage card using the normal CAB from their website. I had a licensed version on my Tilt and transferred the license. I do miss the scroll-wheel-to-zoom feature but not much else as I have been using 8.65 for a while now and am quite comfortable with it. Turns out the original Opera is still in main memory (\Windows\OperaL.exe) so I can run either. Plus I have Skyfire installed as well. Frankly, none of them work well for every site and I move between them and even PIE depending on what I am doing.
Peter
try typing "opera:config" without the quotes obviously into the address bar, with NO http:// in front... many... many settings where you can change around what you want. Opera 9.5 is by far the BEST web browser out there where now as even the iPhone Safari can not perform the same actions.
what about the mobile view in opera 9.5? i thought it did a good job..felt like a better version of 8.65.
"mobile view" on the newest opera (9.5) jsut makes it so that everything ont he page fits in a single column, this has NOTHING to do with mobile loaded sites versus the full html sites.
ive messed around with the opera:config settings and none of them result in making my yahoo homepage come up with the real one that will allow me to do waht i need to do with yahoo.
i think i will take the suggestion of installinf the old version on my storage card so that i have the best of both worlds. god damnit i really wish skyfire would get their act together and give us waht we want instead of just making something barely usable so they can say they have "vga support".... bastards.
shade
skyfox99. Thank you for the good tip to configure Opera. However do you know where there is list of explainations and recommendations for the various settings? It would be great to hear what setting others use and why/how it improves Opera.
Thanks.
Joe
I went back too
I hate the default browser too and reverted to 8.65. If you search here, there is link showing how to make any browser default in the Browser Tab of TF3D.
double tap should centre the zoom-in on the point of tap, not a few inches away. For example, if i am looking at an xda thread on my phone and want to go to the next page, I am looking at the "Page 1 of 8 < 2 3 4 5 > Last". I would double tap on this, my phone will ALWAYS zoom in 1.5 screens to the left, so I have to do 2 scrolls to the right
My other serious issue with this browser is the SIP always comes up on certain websites, even though I am not touching any text boxes, in fact usually happens while page is still loading. I have disables auto SIP popup in advanced config, its just a glitch in opera 9.5

Well I've tested a few and it's gotta be Opera 10. It does everything flash wise (well as far as flash goes on phones), but the thing which annoys me is the way you can't get word suggestions on it so it kinda sucks in that way so it's not the perfect app for me, but the only one that does everything else.
Skyfire is good, but can't seem to get reliable flash support in my opinion.
Btw, does your question include the running of java applets?
Are you sure about word suggestions? I had the same problem with my first Opera 10 browser, because I had to use their keyboard ... but I installed the newest version, and now I was able to use my own keyboards ... running WM6.1

I'm positive. If I use IE, everything is fine, I can get word prediction suggestions and also can press enter instead of having to click search eg.
in google, but in opera 10, nothing, no word prediction suggestions and no hotkey support like enter. Any (word) suggestions? Would really appreciate it as I love Opera and I use it as my primary browser. Because of this problem, I'm thinking of changing to another browser such as skyfire, but would prefer opera though.

Very battery friendly, uses less RAM. And imho faster than Opera 10.
It integrates with other HTC apps, i.e - youtube,
for EDGE, use Opera Mini
I have the Net Front Browser 2009 from a Japanese T-01A if you want it.
No .cab, just copy the files to your Windows folder.
No flash but it's extremely fast, good quality and very easy on the battery.
All menus display in English if on an English rom.
