Linux support? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Is there any way to fiddle with my wm5 8125 through linux? I want to go to the tnt 6.1 rom, and have limited access to a windows computer. I could also use an imac, though it would look weird connecting my phone to the computer in the office and downloading "shady" applications.
Thanks!

good luck. i have an mda. it was impossible. wm5 has OK support for synching. wm6 support doesnt exist. sorry. been there done that. not possible at the moment.

actually looks like synce, the linux synch program, has come a bit. check it out at http://www.synce.org/moin/

Hmm..
I run a Ubuntu box with synce + Fur and multisync to Evo...it works fine

it didnt used to work. i ran kubuntu and tried to get wm6 to sync and it didnt work. i tried for MONTHS. then again when i tried it, the included synce builds with ubuntu were .9 and .10 was required for good wm5 support. i had to get the builds elsewhere which didnt seem to help at all. im not a linux guru at all. thats one of the reasons i dumped linux among others.

missingsync and wm6?

Does anyone have a trick to get a wm6 device to sync with missingsync? Marrk/Space dose'nt seem to have a clue.
funny reading....

It look them long enough to get WM5 support and the likes of PocketMac still haven't released their WM5 version!!! crap
If you have a Intel Mac, get Parallels on it... it saves all the hassle
Parallels is great but it does not solve any sync issues for those of us that are using iCal and other Mac programs.

I just uninstalled Deepfish, but it still doesn't work.
It still works for me. I have a friend with a Palm 700wx and his stoped working. he reflashed his rom. Still no good. He gets an error window with an X on it. I back-dated his clock to last month and it installs and runs but wont login because of incorrect clock. After correcting the date he gets the X. So I believe this beta was set to expire in april. Maby a new beta is available. Anyone know?
Guys, WM6 built in works just fine. So if you arent using WM6 then maybe you should be posting this in the WM5 section of the forum. Im on My Vanilla at the moment to test this out. Seems my boss has found the forum and likes emailing me links to stuff like this hoping that this will not effect my rom that is in the works for corp. Please make sure your posting in the right section. Causing me more work and emails to answer LOL. Help a brother out...
Call me retarted. I didnt see the line. LOL. Damn boss got me all frustrated. They want this and they want that. Argh. As for me, My live works just fine. but I know M$ released the actual deal so i think the beta is expired. Go get the real deal.
Solution
Hi, I had this problem too. The solution was:
1- Change the time of my ppc to any date of 2006.
2- Uninstall Windows Live.
3- Change the time to actual date.
4- Install WindowsLive.PPC_ARM_NonBETA_NoDate.CAB.
This version don´t expire. Was estracted from a Wm6 Rom and works on WM5 and WM6.
Now, I´m using Xplore 1.1 Wm6 Rom and dont have this problem.
Bye.

i know u can install say xp on ur mac using bootcamp and do it that way too. i know other though will tell u how to do stuff in osx. im pretty sure u will have to do bootcamp to flash to new roms but im sure u can sync with osx. i haven't used a mac yet but i plan on getting a mac book pro once i have saved up enough for one.
im sure others with macs will provide some feedback too soon.
Or just use VMware, install ActiveSync under windows there and forward your USB port to WMware. Don't know if it works under OS X, but USB forwarding works well under WinXP with VMware workstation 5/6.
Im interested in this as well. I dont want to install xp on my machine as I got the mac to get away from everything pc.
Mac users should try SyncMate from Eltima. Its free, but still in Beta stage. I got it to work just fine with a Kaiser.
Get it at: http://www.eltima.com/products/syncmate/

Cook a ROM on the desktop for testing...

Im looking at cooking a Rom for myself based on all the available Roms, cabs, etc... my question is if there is a way to cook a rom and view it on your desktop instead of flashing it on my Tilt... my main reason for asking this is that I really dont understand what all the different packages look like or add to the overall look of the cooked Rom... Id much rather put something together and play with it on my desktop instead of flashing the Rom over and over until I find something I like... any ideas? thanks

Very good idea, but I've never heard of anything that does that - the only way to test a cooked ROM is to flash it to a phone & see what happens.
There's a programme which emulates WM devices so you can run the OS on your desktop:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A5-183A-4A1E-A7E2-CC500ED1F19A&displaylang=en
It only takes the OS in a certain format though, and i wouldnt know how to convert HTC-specific roms to run with it.
Edit: here's version 2: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...53-f231-4a64-a648-fea5e7061303&DisplayLang=en
jpofsc, let me know if reonan's link worked. I'd like to get my hands into rom cooking and this would be a safe way to test roms without flashing to my phone.
I don't think it works
I've been trying to cook myself something this past week and things aren't really going the way i'd like them too and i just tried using that and it doesn't work unless i'm doing something wrong

like to know what they're using and how they got it working.
Work make things a little easier when trying to develop a ROM lol
That would be awesome. Just like Virtual PC or VMWare.

Same as: My Mobile (My Mobiler)
a quick google and i came up with this wm emulator
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A6F6ADAF-12E3-4B2F-A394-356E2C2FB114&displaylang=en
i think you should be able to use this for our devices. i havent been able to find an emulator for the tytn yet
The MS Emulators are not hardware emulators.
They basically provide a generic WM6 virtual OS that you can deploy software to. It is a software developer's tool.
I don't think you;ll find what you're looking for as it would have to know how to pretend to be a KAiser by using the exact drivers that a Kaiser depends on etc.
