my treo seems to suspend the data connection when making call interfering with my push email from seven. i know when i am on edge this should be expected but 3G should do simultaneous voice and data right?

My work have give me a Ipaq 6340 for a mobile data project. as I am the geek with all the PDA/phones
The Ipaq is used only for the transfer of data and the access of the work servers, using a constant GPRS connection. but the phone app keeps really getting in the way poping up when is shouldnt. Is there anyway to disable the phone app but keep the GPRS connected,
Disable GSM if you can, and disable GPRS data-based calls. GSM is the standard carrying band for phone conversations, but in cases of dire need, GPRS can shoulder the load if the GSM networks are full, but hardly ever does because the GPRS systems are usually more likely to be full. It's the reverse out here, I get network is busy all the time when i try to make a call, but when i hop on the net or check my mail on my k750i, it works perfectly fine. I'm almost tempted to find some way to make data-only calls, besides dialups of course.
can somebody help me figure out how to put skype on treo and also is there anything like iScoot service thats not data network but cellphone connection.
thanks,
Michael

Hey everyone.
Here's my dilemma:
I'm on the 3 network in Australia, which roams to Telstra GSM (GPRS/EDGE) when I don't have 3G reception. I have a 1GB data plan, but when roaming on Telstra it costs $1.25 per 1MB.
I want to stop my trinity from connecting to GPRS/EDGE while roaming, while still allowing 3G/HSDPA to function normally. Any ideas / solutions?
All I know of is Modaco NoData. Perhaps you could use MortScript and get it to run NoData while you are roaming. Also, i'm sure there must be some solution to deactivate the data connection while roaming. I'll post back if i find something.
Thanks for that. Don't know mort script but i'll look into it.
Also of notice, the same internet profile is used whether i'm on my home network or roaming, so disabling the profile won't cut it i'm afraid.
Check this out... it might have what you want

One of the members here @ XDA developed this app which can switch between GPRS / 3G plus a whole lot of nifty features.
Unfortunately not.
I need to still be able to make and receive calls on the GSM network. I purely need to stop the internet connection from functioning through GPRS/EDGE
hey
i have a really strange net thingy going on
two things
1- sometimes i get a E on my kjam and the internet works so great and my connection shows EDGE instead of GPRS and i like it so much but when im home it doesnt do it how can i configure it be just EDGE never only GPRS?????
2- when im on net on my phone or on pc thru my wizard i cant get incoming calls wats da deal with that help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
thanx
1. No, EDGE connection is possible because of the equipments of your phone provider, but it may not possible for all towers to have EDGE support, so you may get EDGE only on specific locations.
2. Because GPRS data connection shares the same connection with voice connection, so if you are transferring GPRS data, incoming calls are not received (However it is still possible to receive phone calls if GPRS is connected but not active).
hmmm thats sad
so is there like a specific rom that can boost the gprs speed?
and how can i know which towers are which?
thanx
It just depends where you are. When I'm at home (poor reception) its usually gprs, but when I'm at uni its edge.
Good night. Who knows some software to use the service of PTT / POC on Windows Mobile, the key advantage of the Treo 750 smart? I wonder if there is any where it can use data from APN of my carrier.
