Hey community
I'm Pete and although I've been registered for quite some time now this is my first post so: Hello everyone!
I've been searching my butt off in order to find a multiple choice quiz application for WM6. I've looked at a bunch of stuff and dug around in sourceforge too but no luck. As I use a lot of freeware apps I'm perfectly happy with on my PPC I wouldn't mind at all to use another one. But if there's a feature rich commercial version I wouldn't mind paying either.
So: I'm looking for a software which would allow me to take (multiple choice) quizzes. The possibility to make quizzes on my own (preferably on the desktop PC) is a must. Embedded pictures/sounds would be a big plus.
Does anyone know of such an application?
Have you looked at MondoPondo?
Am not sure if you can author your own quizzes but it may be possible...
Hey rjcb23
I've never heard of MondoPondo before and just had a look at it. As far as I can tell quizzes aren't editable which they should be. Besides, according to the faq it seems to be a complete multi player game and I intend to play alone to kill time when I'm on a train, plane etc.
Nevertheless, thanks a lot for the reply.
Anyone have any other ideas?

Hello everyone!
Anyone around here that likes to play chess?
If you do, then you probably know that there are two very good chess programs for the ppc!
1. PocketGrandmaster 4.1
2. Pocket Fritz 4
While both being very competent, I like "Pocketgrandmaster" more, becouse it has the abillity to play online "Fics/ICC" and also very easy to change engine and opening book!
However the CPU in a handheld device is not so powerful, and while being sufficient for a fun game or two while travelling, it is not as powerful when you want to do some heavy game analisys or play more advance games while travelling!
So I did some research online and stumbled upon this site: http://home.arcor.de/bernhard.wallner/netChess.html
I tested the program out and it works really great, the only problem being, it is for PC´s and not for handhelds!
Basicly what it does is the following:
1. You have a server side of the program sitting on you PC and hosting a chess engine of your liking!
2. You have a client side of the program on another PC! (Working as an engine in a chess GUI, let´s say Fritz!)
3. They connect to eachother using internet!
So when you play the game, you fire up your favourite GUI (Fritz), you choose the "internet based" engine, and you start to play the game!
When you make a move, the client sends the move trough internet to your PC (Server) @home, which thinks out a move and send it´s response back to the client!
Dont ask me how it works, but there is a chart on the website explaining it!
Now my question is this:
Is it possible to make a client that works with PocketGrandmaster or Pocket Fritz?
Being that we already have the server, using the program from that site, the only thing that needs to be done is the client part!
And knowing that at least in PocketGrandmaster you are allowed to change the engine, this should be possible!
In fact I contacted the Pocketgrandmaster support and asked about this, and the response was, that it is indeed technically possible to achieve this very easy, but that they had nor the time or interest to do this! If I wanted and had the skills I was allowed to do it myself tough!
Now, I dont have the skills to do it myself, but I am prepared to pay someone to do it!
So my question is, is here anyone that might have the knowledge to help me?
If so, then please reply here on the forum, or just PM me, so we can arrange for it to happen!
Thanks in advance, I am waiting to hear from you guys!
Anyone?
I realy need this, so would be glad if anyone could help, or atleast tell me who might be able to help!
Thanks!

maybe gta china town wars or even gta 1
mortal kombat
fallout 1 or 2

an app which uses the oem headphones and mike and turns them into a noise-canceling headset
a music editing app like audacity
and (my favourite) a light saber app
game
Well 1st congradulations on becoming a developer. I too in my spare time develop but I develop games. If this is your 1st time developing a complete project I would suggest a simple game. A game like pong, space invaders, or pacman. I dont know your level but those can be made relatively easy and give you time to add something to make an original twist. Since I program in C language I dont know if any of the commands are similar in java maybe I could help. Goodluck on your project and keep us posted.
This is proly a tough one, but one I would (and many others) love to see on our HD2 phones.
Netflix watch instantly app from our queue.
Why they half assed the Netflix app in the first place is beyond me.
thanks for all the suggestions guys! knew some of you here on xda would be happy to gimme some ideas. First i thought nobody was gonna bother replying. lol. thanks again and I will keep you guys informed when i decide what to do and if I need any help. Thanks a lot everyone.
I just noticed your handle; football-fan. I am assuming you mean soccer?
Perhaps combine your love for the game with your project and develop something relating to the upcoming World Cup.
An app that has the game fixture, match time etc. It could also connect and update scores and match stats as they happen. It could keep track of the heats and results. Keep a tree/chart of who wins and loses, who makes it to the finals etc.
I have no doubt there are plenty of people out there who would love an app like that. Especially considering you could produce something that is ad free. I am assuming that any official app that comes from commercial organisations will be plastered with sponsorship logos and the like.

thanks for the idea!
but my lecturer was saying it would be better if the apps that we make would require move.. interaction / input from the user?

How about a playlist editor for wmp? Something that would allow you to browse folders and select tracks and build a playlist from scratch.
It may seem a pretty plain application, but it would mean coding a decent GUI (that would obvously run purely on user interaction), but it would still have some more "gutsy" stuff, like system access, reading folder and files etc., and you'd also have to make sure you can build a playlist file. (I have no idea what format a playlist is in - it could be a simple list, but is more likely to be xml)

Hi all, I'm preparing to get my first Andoid phone hopefully next week -- the HTC Desire, and was wondering if there's an app already out there that is similar in functionality as Kylom - Projekt. Developers App is at kylom. com
I have used Projekt on Symbian (S60) on my Nokia E52. It's great! And since, i've now finally decided to switch from Symbian to Android, after many years.
The developers are not planning a port, so my quest is to find a solution for Android. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
The app essentially is a highly versatile outliner that will helps me organise anything, at work and at home. I use it alot for my work. You can jot it down notes, ideas etc,... you can creat lists, and add in new entries. You can link it to a Contact, or to a to-do task. You can organise stuff into hierarchical lists of all sorts ... Value boxes can be displayed, where you can enter a cost etc.. and the hierarchical parent will total is children threads.
If anyone knows an app that will perform this sort of thing, i'd appreciate the info. It will help me a lot making my transition over to Android.
Thanks,
Darren.
a very good candidate is Note Everything by SoftExperience (check it on the android market).
and there are many others on the android market
Yes Derren.. I am also a big fan of Kylom.
Yes Derren...
I am also a big fan of Kylom. I also used it in my Nokia device. But unfortunately, I could not find any app that can replace it in Android till today. The tragedy part is that where the developers on Kylom also could not continue on Android. Otherwise they would have got many fans here in Android also. I think no other app can replace the Projekt of Kylom in Android. For a nearer replacement, I am finding the app called "MyLifeOrganized.apk" is some what close to it. Try for it. If you could find any other replacement, please let me know.

Hello everyone,
I work in an office of 7-10 people. We decided to order drinks (sodas, beers) for everyone to grab, but we need to keep track on how much everyone has drank so that we could at some point collect money for the next order.
I want to find a more interesting way to keep track of the drinks (besides the old piece of paper on the fridge). It has to have accounts for the users, be cross platform (android/ios) and to sum the prices / export lists at the end.
I can't image that such app doesn't already exist, I just have trouble finding one. (beer drinker of the month and so on would be a fun feature too
If someone of you guy already came across such thing please share!
Have a nice weekend!

You could try 'Kasse speedy' by pepperM.
But you can also use every expense manager app like gnucash (desktop version also available).
You can even use a exel file stored on any server or the cloud for this.
Hello everybody
Small intro:
I'm building a startup to create the first HumaneTech smartphone experience. For you.
Our project is to create a smartphone experience that is: Excellent. But not addictive.
A smartphone experience that respects your brain. And doesn't mess with your neurotransmitters. To allow you to use your phone without getting hooked, If you want.
To do that, we want to remove/redesign features that are addictive (believe me ! ) :
Glowing colors on screens
Notifications (the pings, the red numbered icons)
Thumb scrolling down (twitter/fb/etc news feed scrolling)
(and many other things)
We understand the psychology of it but we don't have tech skills (yet).
Let's say you have a smartphone/internet/p*rn addiction. And you want your own phone to help you.
Can you imagine android with :
AI based image recognition & filtering
One unique browser (designed to filter p*rn)
DNS/ HOSTS file based p*rn site filtering
Forced Google/Bing/etc SafeSearch
Phone use analytics (amount of time spend on X website/app etc)
Customisable "self parental controls" (limit the amount of time you can use an app, access a website, etc to keep you more productive) that you cant easily remove once set, to protect you
Customisable internet filters (hard to remove)
And in a moment of weakness, no easy way for you to remove it?
We thought of an app but all it takes is to boot in safe mode to bypass it (or not?)
Can we develop a customised Android that flashes like a ROM on a users phone and makes these changes?
We realise anybody motivated enough could do most of the above on his phone himself. By installing 4-5 third party apps, for example. But it wouldn't be perfect.
It could be easily removed. And the average user wants it easy to install.
Any ideas? I have very little technical skills and I'm still looking for answers on how to do this.
Thank you !
P.S.
First post so I'm not allowed to post links
Please go to HumaneTech dot com to understand what this is about.
There is a already a Chrome extension that filters nude images using AI. Its called vRate and works through a server
P.P.S.
I apologise in advance if I posted this in the wrong area.
This is in no way intended to promote a product. Nothing has been coded yet. I'm even willing to pay for a short conversation with someone who can answer these questions.
