Despite being careful, my screen is increasingly getting scratched. The scratches are only noticeable when the device is off (thank goodness).
If there are any other persons with the same problem, please post here.

Correct. I also own a TyTn II and have no issues with the screen whatsoever. Of all the devices I have owned over the years, only this TC has been an issue.
I was noticing the same so applied the included screen protector... I usually don't bother as I don't like them and the device is a throwaway after a year anyway so it's not a big deal. But in this case I figured if it was like that after a few weeks then after 6 months I'd probably not be able to see the screen!
I've had a few Palm devices before i switched to WM and i noticed this scratching as well......Luckily i'm using the included protector.
I have to say on my previous Palms i didn't have this problem, also while using a protector, which makes me suspect that the stylus is the real problem here.
Any thoughts on this?
I use the screen protector, and also got some spares. I also cover the whoel device with a liquid "screen" protector to helpthe faces from getting ruined. So far so good
Problem with the Touch Cruise (Polaris...) is, that the screen is - unlike the Kaiser's - flat and not indent. This means, its exposed to EVERYTHING it touches. Thus chances are higher you'll get one or two scratches once in a while.
Second thing which I can only cite other ppl on other forums: those Polaris allegedly have a softer top layer to be able to operate the unit using only your finger. This would support catching scratches as well...
I'd use the protector. It's a shame having scratches on that mirrored surface.
Schaggo, can you indicate what other forums people are commenting about the screen?
I am interested in your view that the top layer is softer than most others.
i agree that the stylus is the problem ... to much thin... , i tried one from nintendo ds , it's much more rounded and it slide better ( sorry for my english...)

ou guys use other styluses? I use my finger, thats what the Touch series should be made for I know it doesnt really work, the fonts are way too small...
Hicksville, I cannot judge what the other ppl say because I used the protector right away. Nothing ever touched my screen without the protector applied. But as I got it, the top film seems to be made of a softer material than the one of other WM devices. Reason for that is the reason for the "Touch" in the devices name: to make the touch layer register the actual point, where the finger tries to point at. If the top layer would be harder/stiffer it allegedly cant tell where exactly the finger tried to hit the screen because the area involved ('touched' eg. pressed down) would be bigger than with a soft top layer. Thats what I got and which makes some sense.
And logically a soft surface is more prone to be 'hurt' than a surface made of hard material. So I guess this might be connected. But I have to repeat, these are all assumptions by users and in no way official statements.
I've been using my phone w/o a screen protector, and I haven't gotten any scratches. Like schaggo I mainly use my finger. I did however test the screen by applying a lot of pressure with the stylus in a sweeping motion, and I didn't get any scratches (don't ask me what possessed me to try this). I later tried a much more conclusive scratch test on a CDMA Touch unit in a store on both the screen and the body and got no scratches! Yes, I applied a lot of pressure, (However, someone else had managed to put a scratch on the CDMA Touch's screen, but that scratch was really deep and probably done with a really sharp object; on the other hand, I did my testing with my TC stylus). I coudln't scratch both the body or the screen using a lot of pressure from my stylus and my nails. Maybe some of you exposed the TC to coins or keys inadvertantly?
That's pretty gutsy to test it on your own device. I am using the screen protector and I have a few scratches on that which is fine. When the time comes, I'll replace it with a new protector. As far as the rest of the case, I have been very careful so far with my device and haven't gotten any scratches anywhere on it. I think that suede/rubber whatever feel of the device is nice but I think it will scratch.

Yes, very gutsy, I pushed hard enough to watch the screen sink it and rise back up very slowly...I don't know what I was thinking, but hey it turned out well w/o any scratches. The plastic on the screen is a lot stronger than your typical screen protector, so that fact along with my tests pretty much confirmed it for me. Furthermore, I don't like the look of screen protectors and I'm worried that they'll hinder touch flow.
As far as the casing, it seems bulletproof. But I'm like you, I keep it in the oem suede/microfiber case whenever its not being held to my ear for a phone call, and I've never put it in a pocket with anything else.
Actually with the suede comment I was talking about the body of the actual device. I'm not sure what that is but it has a nice texture to it. I haven't used that pouch that came in the package. Not a big fan of it. Head on over to the acc forum to see which cases people like. As far as the screen protector goes the original one does not hinder touch capabilities. Also in the acc forum they discuss different screen protectors, you might wanna check out one of those as well.

Just wanted to let everyone know NOT to buy these screen protectors... I bought one for my XDA II about two weeks ago and it's real crap.
The visual quality is awesome, sylus is smooth; HOWEVER, the touch screen becomes really hard. You need to tap the screen hard before anything will happen. Also, if you get one spec of dust under the screen, that section of the protector will not stick to the screen and you'll get a big bubble.

It is probably the placement of the protector thats causing the problem, I suggest you see how close to the edges it is sitting, even a tiny part of the protector tucked under the edge can stop the screen working completely, I have heard nothing but good about this brand.

I had a G2 lying around for the Siemens SX56 and thought I would give that a try and see if it's any better. I installed it and it was a little too small (tuck wise), so it would move around slightly if you are playing games. I just put a drop of Super Glue in two corners (clean job) and it's perfect.

I have had no problems with the martin fields screen protector. I've tried to order a G2 screen protector a long time ago - waited two weeks and order never came, so I went with the martin fields. To get a real clean job, its good to have a piece of tape lying around - or use one of those Post it flags to remove the dust on the screen or the screen protector.
And putting superglue on your XDA II is insane. I highly recommend not to if you lack great hand dexterity. *imagines self* :roll:
I think it totally depends which you get... G2 doesn't "really" support the XDA II.

I bought MF and I don't have too much problem - other than my clumsy hands.
The tapping hard is not experienced as said here, but compared to without the screen protector (any one, not necessary MF), you need to tap harder & write harder. :roll:
As for taking the protector out and the dust, I learned the hard way -- use scotchtape to stick up the protector, use the scotchtape to stick off the dust, & don't use water or thinner to clean the sticky side -- use the scotchtape and gently peck on the sticky side. :wink:

I had the WRITEShield before the MFO's, and although they were great, the MFO's are heaps better. I have to say, I find the required touch to be much lighter than the WS's.
Many of the forum users over at MTekk love them too, infact this is the first complaint.

I've no problems so far with MF.
No hard touch screen problem...infact its same as before putting on the protector.
The MF is cool....only minor comment is it will get scratch after a while of intense gaming or writing. Comparable with G2s.
The PDA shop recommend me to change it after 6~8 months....depending on the scratch surface.
So far I've not encountered a clear type Screen protector that doesn't scratch.
The ones from Brando Brand are Matt finished but will last forever without a scratch on it.
I let the shop assistant (actually, he is the boss!) fixed the thing for me and it looked like a tedious task to get a perfect job. The screen need to be cleaned, apply it slowly from the top side and if there is a dust spot, remove with cellotape. I couldn't have done a better job than him!
hmm, that's really weird. I have to tap it at least twice as hard on the edges and three times in the center.
At first I thought my LCD was dead, but I removed the protector and the touch does work awesome.
No problems here either. I've been using MF on all my phones, SE P800/900 and now my Qtek 2020. Also tried Brando's protector but it's not too bright, so prefere the MF.
Don't get me wrong, I love the visual quality, but can't stand the touch of it.
Figures they'd come out with it a week before I'm thinking of picking up an Imate Ultimate 8150. But it's out for those of you interested link below.

If it is stretched all over the PDA, how is it joined/sealed? What about removing the batter cover or using the thumb wheel? Is it fixed like cling-film?
Also, the screen is recessed from the surround so if it is stretched around the housing and screen, then there would seem to be a gap between the screen and this cover, so what will the sensitivity of the screen be like?

looks like it would be a least 3 pieces - one for the screen, then one for the keys, and one for the back - which does not protect the sides. And the video doesn't show how it fits on the phone, it shows how it fits on the front of a ipod - so don't be a smart a*s. He was asking how it fits on this phone not an ipod dumb a*s.

Get life....yes the clip shows it being fitted to an ipod......if you gothered to watch the clip you would have seen that the piece for the back also does the sides as they wrap around.....apart from the size etc the actual method of applying this will be the same.
Next time smart a*s do your homework rather than mouthing off.

Lets get this straight....I haven't used this product...however when I saw the "link" I went to the manufacturers site to get a better understanding of it....
I watched the video and while it was of it being fitted to an ipod I got a basic understanding of how it could be fitted to a P3600i.
I didn't think it was "cling wrap", I understood that there would be several sections involved....including one for the recessed screen (yes, just like a normal screen protector) and I too would be skeptical of it protecting all parts of the phone.
There is a tendency in these forums for people to not search out information but to ask seemingly dumb questions.....
As this product is new for this model....why not just ask if anyone has tried it or ask the manufacturer for more information.....or is that too hard to do????

I bought it and had it send to Holland. Took about 1 to 2 weeks but ok I am not in a hurry.
The full body covers basically all the shiny black plastic plus the screen. The rest (middles of the sides and the front keys) are not covered. Also offcourse the camera, speakers etc are not covered. However, and this is probably the difference between P3600 and P3600i the front camara is covered by the shield blurring the image. Now I have already put it on the camera but the next time I would use a hole puncher to add the extra hole. I probably will use a sharp hobby knife to cut an extra hole (on the other hand I never use video conferencing).
The plastic is more stronger and thicker then normal screen protectors. Haven't tried to scratch it on pupose and guess what I am not going to do it. If a scratch forms by accident I will mention it here.
The screen takes some getting used to with the new cover. The plastic does not "slide" as easy as the original screen protector or the screen itself. Maybe this is just in the first period.
The application process it pretty easy if you just take the time. Takes about 30 minutes if you do it slowly. Only 2 minor bubbles on the back but those are not really an issue, the rest is perfect.
Hey for 20 euro's I think it is a good deal. No horrible rubber case or GPS blocking metal case for me anymore. Only downside is that if the phone is dropped now there is no protection. This is only against scratches.
Lifetime guarantee so lets see how often I have to send it back.
All in all recommended so far (but that is just after 1 day of use)

The edges that you can see in the pic don't seem to line up perfectly, how were the dimensions on the rest of the edges?
i've been thinkin of getting one of these since i saw them for ipods but that messy edge is scaring me away a little, also how are you finding the screen protector after a little more use?

Well the edges are more because of my talent I think. The reason why I showed you this is because at least you can see something. For the rest it alligns perfectly.
After using it for a while it still seems a great product. I accidentaly dropped the thing but no scratch at all. What you do notice is the slightly more pressure you need when using the stylo. Also the screen protector is not as smooth as the original screen making the sliding a little more difficult. Also the plastic sticks to your ear while calling. But all in all still recommended.

After using it a few months I still think it is definately worth the few euro's. Ok it sticks a bit when calling for a long time and I think I even managed to get a small scratch on it but I sort of abuse the fact that I have the shield. Store it with keys, never use a case etc.
No I have bought some useless accessoires such as aluminium case (blocks GPS) and the remote for mediaplayer but the shield I would really recommend.

I have an old Wallaby that has a scratched screen at the right margin; a protector was never used and apparently, someone used the scrollbar a LOT, violently so.
If it was just a little scuff, I'd just apply a protector to keep it from getting scratched any more (the screen is still reasonably responsive), but this time, there's a single "bump" in the middle of the scratch that would still make the sensitivity be off.
There's quite a few products out there promising to rejuvenate scratched screens, and I was wondering if anyone has any tips or user experiences to share;
Does Displex or any other such product live up to its claims? Is it worth it to try to rub-a-dub-dub with an abrasive agent, or does it merely lead to more damage in the end?

I've never used Displex on my mobile...cos I don't dare. Reason? I used it on my ipod...was so eager, I even used it on the clickwheel. Clickwheel became so cool and shiny...but lost sensitivity. (stop laughing)
So basically, if its a device which uses a touch interface, don't use Displex or any such cleaner (which although they claim are not abrasive basically are, cos they literally work down the plastic like a really weak acid). Of course, if your touch interface isn't imbeded on the actual screen itself but underneath it (hold to light, check for tiny dots...u see dots, its imbedded).

don't worry the screen is not messed up you just scratched the digitizer thats a thinfilm that sits ontop of the screen that makes it into a touch screen. they are not that much money 20-25 dollars pick up a new one
Okay guys first of all i know all the benefits to a screen protector, but on my old iPhone that didnt have a screen protector and the screen was fine, no scratches etc etc.... I was wondering do we really, really need a protector on the diamond? As im sure that without it it would be much smoother to use?
I applied my screen protector as soon as I unboxed my phone however was wondering of the opinions of people that a) didnt and b) took their protectors off and used the device.
Does the screen 'feel' any different without it?

Screen protectors are advised, 'cause you reduce the risk of damage to the screen itself (which will be expensive to replace). It will dull the sensitivity slightly (although less than on the iPhone screens as they use different technology.)

Diamond has resistive touch screen, iPhone has capacitive.
That means the iPhone can have a solid (glass) front to the screen.

Use the sticky side of a piece of tape to remove the old screenprotector.
That's the way the pro's are doing it. Use the same sticky tape to pick up small residue on screen before applying the new one.
I have PDA's more 10 years not the first but i still keep my old casio e-105 and since that a lot of them ...
For me it was all a big worry the screen scratches and so every pda had screen protector kit and i tried allot of them different brands different textures, glued , fitted etc...
Right now i look back on my desk and see a bunch of PDA all of them with beautiful screens none with scratches.. BUT.... BUT... I'm more happy to have 9 year old pda without scratches ??? don't think so....
I don't think i will be worst if one them had a screen scratch vs the issues a screen protector have, less sensitive worst view of screen etc...
In diamond is even worst because the screen don't have borders to fit the protection, so will add one more layer on top.......
Even if i have mixed feelings about it i will keep my diamond without screen protector...
maybe next year when i buy the new "whatsoever model" and put this on the shelf i will say damn scratch on the screen but so what.... its on shelf and the time i had keep it, i use that screen at full no lame plastics on top...

But the iPhones isn´t usable with a stylus only with fingers due to the influence in the static field of the capacitive touchscreen.
Well actually the Diamond got TWO touchscreens, it also have a capacitive touchscreen under the normal screen and under the touchpad (buttons) beside the resistive touchscreen on the surface of the screen. (sushilange fond that).

Maybe some company is smart enough to make a full body screen protector. (maybe it allready exist heavn't looked)
I have double feelings about this.
My Touch Screen wothout protections is starting to lose the top layer on the right side of screen (i never really got the hang of using that unnatural touch scrolling and kept using the scrollbar)

Yep, kind off it helps in many ways. Like even if I get multiple scratches It wouldn't matter as I can get the screen guard changed. But If I didn't had it at ones that would cost me more.
Though now a days its trend for Gorilla Glass and vise versa!
I do not use it anymore. I had a cover for my Galaxy S2, and also a plastic 'sheet' to protect the front.
In my line of work I had quite some rough jobs wich resulted in hairy situations for the phone. Eventually I switched jobs last year, and these days I sit behind a desk. There is no use for the cover anymore. The front itself can withstand most of the daily stuff.
The cover for the back etc. might be handy if you drop your phone, but did you ever see those phone-drop-tests?
Bottomline: Obviously it's safer, but I don`t think people really need them.

Well, I bought my xperia x10 USED. Seller told me that it has BIG SCRATCH on the bottom of the screen (btw, xperias screen is scratch-resist), and I told him that he has to lower the price, so he lowered price for 20€ ..When I bought it, I found out that there is a screen protector on it..So, I removed it, and I have a brand new phone..without scratch on the bottom of the screen ofcourse ..
So, if you are a seller, remove it if there is any scratches or something else..If you are a buyer, try to screw up a seller
Changed several of them already and my screen still doesn't have scratche
I've been using them on my epic 4g that I have had for the last couple months. But before that I didn't use them on my lg optimus v or HTC Eris.

I use no screen protector but I had one. There are no scratches on my phone now and I can wipe better. You have to be carefully without a protector.
I use a protector for 2 reasons. Firstly, for peace of mind. Yes, it's Gorilla glass which means it's less likely to get scratched, but there's no glass in the world that is completely scratch-proof, so it makes sense to cover it for that extra protection. Secondly, I use a matte (anti-glare) protector. It's good for reducing reflections and helping read the screen in brighter light, but it also stops fingerprints and greasy smudge marks.
Each to their own, but if I've got a £500 phone then I see no point in *not* chucking a few more quid at a protector.

In my opinion, screen protectors can be very useful. There are different types of screen protectors, that offer different benefits to suit your needs.
The first kind of screen protector is a "clear" type, which is obviously clear, that offers scratch protection. The drawback of this type of protection is, because of the clear, craystal like finish, it creates a glare like effect, making it difficult to see the screen in direct sunlight, or brightly lit rooms.
The next type of screen protector (my favorite) is an "anti-glare", which has a matte finish. This type of screen protector not only prevents scratching, but it also cuts out the glare, does a great job of hiding fingerprints and smudges. It also provides a better feel when touching the screen, removing that "sticky" feeling when sliding your finger across the screen. The downside to this type of screen protector is that it slightly takes away from the sharpness or detail of the display. (only slightly though). A fair trade off, in my opinion.
The third type of screen protector is know as a "mirror" type. This protector has a mirror finish, which actually looks like a mirror. This type offers scratch protection, and because of it's mirror finish, also provides a level of privacy, making it difficult for other people to see what's on your screen. The downside to this type of protector is, because of the mirror finish, it makes it extremely difficult to see the screen under any lighting conditions. It also doesn't hide scratches very well.

i had a screen protector but i took it off, i didnt like it, it just didnt feel good, so i bought a phone bag. i only take my phone out of the bag when im really using it. no scratches so far. id reccomend a phone back and no protetor, but its everyones personal opinion how to use phone
It depends... If you have your phone in the same pocket as your keys it's usefull to have one. When you have your phone in an case it's not that usefull.
I like screen protectors but my hands and fingers are so dam rough it scratches the screen protector up, so I go threw screen protector a couple weeks, the protector would just get so scratch up

If you are rough on your phone, then yes; else no.
I've never used one and don't have notible scratches, but then again, I'm always very aware of how I'm handling my phone, and when I carry it around, I'll keep it in its pouch.
