Orbit 2 SMS Delivery Reports - Touch Cruise General

Is it just me or can you not activate delivery reports for sms on the Orbit 2 on O2 UK network?

try schapps advanced config tool

There are two parts to this....
1) You CAN enable delivery reports on the O2 version of the TC, using a reg hack or cab file.
2) However, it won't work on O2, as the network doesn't do delivery reports the standard way. The only way to have a delivery report is to enter a code at the beginning of every sms. (I think it's #0#)

You're probably right, I've never tried it.
Such a shame that a network as big and as established as O2 (or Cellnet as it was), doesn't have such a basic feature, that was one of the first in GSM.

Very True!
Multi Billion Pound cellphone company cant get a simple thing like sms delivery correct. Its very pathetic!
I hope Vodafone UK come to their senses and add the touch cruise to their line, having the kaiser just isnt enough of a choice.

works perfect on my Orbit 2
I have Orbit 2 in O2 and have no problem with delivery report.I just used that simple cab and problem solved.Hope it will works for you

why dont u use the build in function?
Hi there!
I always use this function, on every cell phone, and on the o2 xda orbit 2 its the same, as on every xda i had before.
Open Messaging, when you got the overview(SMS/MMS ; Outlook E-Mail etc), hit the Menu Button, hit Options.
Now you can see a list of your accounts, where u can point on sms/mms.
In the next dialogue there is a checkbox "übermittlung von Nachrichten bestätigen" ( confirm the delivery of messages ... my translation, got a german wm6). Works well for me, never had to mess with any registry keys.
I Hope I could help!
Greetings from Germany.

Problem is that this checkbox was only in Orbit. In Orbit 2 UK only thing u can do is changing MMS options not SMS.Or maybe I`m blind and I couldn`t see it
Anyway I checked four times and there is no "Delivery" option in my Orbit 2.Only option is "Use Unicode when necessary" and I`m sure that is not the one we need.

yups, I agree..THe delivery report option is only for MMS and nowhere for SMS
Do anyone has a clue on this ?

I've just taken possession of an Orbit 2 unlocked and on Vodafone (albeit that is not relevant). I had same problem with SMS text delivery reports i.e they were NOT happening. I followed information at: htcwiki.wetpaint.com/page/Advanced+Configuration exactly to the letter and it all worked fine. Once the Advanced Config program is installed you can select the "messaging" configuration section and amend the settings for enabling "Delivery Reports". Works finefor me plus the Config program is a boon! You have to register on the initial download website but it's free and also useful as a good-to-know site. Hope this helps others.

Send Multiple SMS Problem :/

Guys!
when i send a msg to someone, very very often instead of sending 1sms it sends several, ranging from 2 to 6 even.
so heres the story:
1. write sms to a friend. = 1 sms less than 160char
2. send sms to friend
3. receive delivery report, or even if option is off, no matter.
4. get a reply from my friend that i sent him the msg several times.
- this is not isolated case, this has happened with numerous numerous numbers. from different networks and different numbers etc. so theres a problem i think. whats wrong?
Are you using software like SBP pocket plus, to really close apps? When the mail program is closed to soon it resends the message!
If this isn't the case i got no idea.
Regards, M
nope not spb pocket plus.
i'm using wisbar advanced 2 and i have spb time installed. do you want a list of all the applications i got installed to check it out?
how bout a situation when i just choose NEW - > MESSAGE (from the today task bar). finish writin. click send and of course it closes it. what bout then? does it also count as too soon closed?
Not sure what is counting as 'closing too soon'. I never faced the prob. myself though I'm trialling SBP pocket plus. There are more posts/theads about this particular problem, maybe a search can help you as I only tried to pass info through that I've read on the board.
Regards, M
Ps. locatation Hospital sounds not to good.

but i'll take that into consideration and perhaps change it thx mate!

Add VOIP to Comm Manager (WM6)

Just for reference I am using the Most Beautiful edition rom.
Navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/CommManager
Do these following steps... (without the quotes)
Change "SuppordedFunctions" to 9 (if only at 7, I will show how to add IR as well)
If you DO NOT have IR in your Comm Manager:
Add a new key and name it "7"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "IR"
If you already have IR, then add this to get VOIP:
Add a new key and name it "8"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "VOIP"
There you have it. Now you have 9 settings in the Comm Manager. I do not know exactly what it does yet, just wanted to post my findings. Someone can maybe clean this up a little and add it to the Wiki if they find it helpful.
I just enabled this and it does indeed give you an 'IP Phone' icon, plus if you click the settings there is an IP Phone option. Neither actually do anything except make it beep....
I just put a sniffer on to see if there was a DNS lookup for a SIP server or anything when you click the Icon, there isn't I assume this will be something that is provided with your GSM contract and will be pushed down to the phone via OTA. If you click Phone Options, then services and get the settings for Voice Mail & Test Messages there is an option now for 'Internet Voice Mail', this is greyed out though.
Andy
at least it's possibly one step closer to figuring out how to get it to work... or at least how to turn it on and off when it is working.
I just tested this on the PDAVIET3 WM6 ROM. This brings up the Error message:
Comm Manager only supports 7 Entries. -> does NOT work.
In order to find out what is causing this please let me know where to check the Version of the Comm Manager(already have a dumped pdaviet3 rom on my pc at home.) so I can compare it to the Version you have.
I hope we can get this VOIP Service figured out soon

Look here
On the other thread about the Internet Calling in WM6 thers is a link to the MSDN site. If you dig about on here you can find lots of information regarding this; I thought this was interersting:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb330889.aspx
Unfortunately I don't have a SIP server so all I can do is sniff the network and watch the phone attempt to connect to the SIP server....
Andy
My Comm Manager version is 1.3.2.0
I also have a copy of 1.0.3.0 which I believe is from the 2.25.11 cingular shipped rom.
someone post a screen shot of the voip button please
The one in the linked thread now comes up with 8 functions at most. Has anyone got a rip of the Most Beautiful one?
I do.. here you go
Also working on getting a screen cap of the button.
Hmm that file isn't working for me, the 7 button that was integrated into Orwells worked with 7 max, the 8 button from the linked thread worked with 8 but that one just refuses to run, I'm on the clean WM6 ROM.
I made this cab with trojan9x's attachment and it worked for me
Here is the screenshot
Still no dice, I think a dll or something is needed for the Orwell ROM. Thanks anyway guys.
Here's how mine looks.

Cab-file works for me @ WM6 MB-edition (thnx guys). But unfortunately when I click on settings>ip phone, nothing happens..
good one..
maybe someday we'll have x10 or more buttons to come..
hehe..
Great Find Trojan9x. It pushes us one more step closer to understanding the "Internet Calling" Feature.
@ TROJAN9x:
I tried adding these Registry settings on my HERMES with WM6 and it says that only 7 is supported. Do you have ny clue about HERMES and it's limitations or do you think there might be another setting for this?
But it works fine on my Wzards.

Sending anonymous sms

I've been looking for an application for my pocket pc that can send an anonymous sms but also be able to pretend that it came from someone else.
I enjoy messing with my mates
Anyone got any ideas or know anything about how this could be possible?
I don't think that can be done from your mobile. you best use a internet based sms company. I think there are some sites that send free sms
I think VJ has sumthing on his website.
I think it's called Class 0 SMS. I know for a fact that you can't save a Class 0 SMS but i'm not a 100% sure abou anonymity.
www.vijay555.com
thanks for the info, ill go take a look.
Hi, in Portugal I use *conf# before the sms.
Ex: *conf#Hello, how are you?
Hope it helps!
If you do not like command line tools you san take a look at brand new Hush SMS here.
Thanks for all the info.
I tried Hushsms and it works great, I can have quite a bit of fun messing with my mates.
It would be awsome if it had a feature to send the sms to 1 friend make it seem as if it came from another friend but for now I can still have quite abit of fun.
The other little issue is that you can only send the sms anonymously to someone with a pocket pc phone....on normal phones your number comes up.
*conf# seems only work in your country.

Hey Please tell me how u got it working
It keeps showing my no on my Friends Ppc Phone
wht do i do so my no doesnt show on his ppc Phone
The only thing that you have to do in order for your number not to to show up on your friends PPC is to make sure that you tick class 0 before you send the sms.
What happens if you send to yourself?
Are you sending to a PPC or a windows smart phone?

I have a Tilt & sending it to a Tilt also
I go to Programs then click on HushSms Icon
It opens & i Tic the class 0 like u said
Type a Hi in it & then can chooe who u want to send to from ur phone book
& the no appears like this eg: (212) 123 4567
do i need to type the No in like this :- 001 212 123 4567 ?
& for International :- 001 44 12345 67890 (Thats uk CODE)
BUT I TRYED THAT TOO DOENT WORK
did not have gaps like above,
Above was just to explain to u so put gaps
As far as I know it shouldn't make adifference How you type the number as long as you tick class 0.
The reason is that the class 0 sms doesn't come through as a normal sms, it comes through as a message from network. Example. When your battery is going flat a message pops up at the bottom of your screen to let you know, then it just disapears.
Maybe the Tilt doesn't support class 0 sms.
Do you know anyone with another ppc phone that you can try send to?
There is another app called flashsms that does the same thing, maybe give that a try.
Let me know if you come right otherwise I will try investigate a bit more into why this is not working on the Tilt.
I just found this in another thread that might explain the problem that you are having.
I don't know if it's true or not but this is what this guy says.
I personaly find it hard to believe but I suppose it could be true.
"your operator can modify setting of the messages you are sending and autoconvert class0 messages to normal SMSes and this not a problem with HushSMS app, but your operator."
If you want to have some fun with anonumous sms send me a mail and ill give you a link to an interesting site.
I would prefer not to post it on the forums as some people tend to use this sort of thing for other reasons besides for having a little fun with your mates.
*ri# Hello works for sending anonymous sms in/with my country/operator (Romania/Orange).
Well doesnt work on Tilt
was fun while it lasted that it might work
try *h# message
this also works in portugal
I also tried hushsms with my provider Orange NL, it doesnt work.
It sent the messages, and the customerservice saw the messages in the system, and I have been charged for it, but they don't arrive!
try this!
I have sent anonymous messages to NL via service called SMSGANG.
Try: http://www.smsgang.com

I could'nt get that working either.
The easiest way is to use SjPhone client. The interface is a bit dated but it works. Another option is Sling, but its sound quality is atrocious, although the interface is better.
Not familiar with "sling" could you plz pass me a link? thnxs

I have also got a Ameo 16G from T-Mobile Germany. You dont want to install an extra program, because WM6 support VOIP according to Microsoft. If you cannot find the function, just because the device producer has bloced it. I have installed a plugin for SIP setting, it was called destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config.cab, if you cannot find it, pm me your email address, I can send it to you.

I had tried this before but it never worked for me. I think it may work for extremely limited ISP.
Are you able to make call with it and have good voice quality at both ends?
I have tested it on WIFI, it can work on my x7510. Afer installation, there is a new program named sip config tool in your programs, there you should input SIP informations, such as SIP server user name password, next step you can find a new window at the telephone setting named internet, here you can choose when to use VOIP. But I do think, the voice quality of the VOIP can not make me satisfied.
if you install Skype for PPE, it automatically does VOIP, either WiFi or 3G
I now use AGEphone mobile, which has good skin, user interface, and voice quality.
works great

O2 SMS Reports on HTC HD2

Hi
As you know o2 doesn't have delivery report as standard. The only way can have SMS delivery reports is by having to type *0# each time you send a sms. Is there a way to have *0# (followed by space) in HTC SMS as default?
Hence everytime you are about to send a text out, its allready there by default, it save you the hassle of typing each time and also have delivery report as normal just like other networks.
thanks in advance.
To my knowledge there isn't a signature as such you can add.
You can however add it as quicktext (see menu) which would enable this to be inserted in a couple of clicks.
well nearly perfect
you can add a signiture
all messages => menu => settings => options => menu => signature
all done then enter *0# and it will appear each time + 3 returns.... cannot be perfect

are you supposed to add the *0# to the body of the message or as a prefix to the number?
also if setting as a signature would i be correct in thinking that the "New" "Reply" "Forward" boxes need checked?

Hi
Yes your suppose to add *0# (# must be followe by space) to the body of the text. Meaning the start of the actual text b4 you actually write your message.
And if signature way yes New, reply, forward needs to be checked too.
Hence everytime you send a message the *0# is allready with in the text msg and you then just write the text as normal. But also receive a delivery report for the text after sent
thanks in advance

Hi Chris10230
Reason was asking was bcz as you know there alot of o2 customers out there and surely loads of them would have lot to see this feature on their htc hd2. Hence thought may be so sum1 may have something sorted now.
Anyways never mind we still got the signature way, its not too bad.

I have my own HD2 on O2. MMS is set by default to give delivery receipt and always does. I find it a waste of time, and have switched it OFF. SMS even if set in Options to give receipt does not.
Using the signature method, receipt only works if I delete the line feeds before the "*0# ". In other words, the * MUST be the first character of the message. But getting a receipt for every message I send would soon drive me batty. I only want occasionally to know someone has had a message, so quicktext is probably best for me, or just remembering the key strokes required.
Thanks for the *0# trick! Much appreciated was wondering why they weren't working. It's now nicely set up as Quick Text from the insert menu.
Cheers
