If i flash firmware, will it sim-unlock? - HTC Vox

If i upload a new ROM to my VOX/S710, will the simlock be removed?
Rubberducky

No, it's just upgrade your system, for sim unlock, you have to follow instructions here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355790
Bye.
And sorry for my poor english.

Why is there no application available to sim-unlock the phone yourself?

Application is not yet developped.
If you want, you could use :
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/
but you have to pay for unlock (i think...).
Bye.

If no application had been developed, how do the commercial services unlock your phone?

No free application developped for end users...
But jockyw2001 could find the unique 8-digits SIM unlockcode, see his post here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355790
and ask him for unlock code (follow instructions).

So are these non-free calculations done through a webserver that calculates the code from your IMEI? Like a T-MOBILE server or something?

Unbranding

Hi
Problably lots of people already asked this. Believe it or not, I searched the forum and i didnt sow that many information about it. I have a mda compact customized with t-mobile software. Basacly I want to take the T-mobile Stuff out, it dosnt even let me set up a gprs account for another operator.
Any help would be thankfull
Ivo
your best bet would be to get the device unlokcke, ( see the unlock tool in the general section of the forun for the unkocl all in one tool) and then upgrade the rom with that of an imate's or qtek's
hope that helps
Jim
Hi
thanks for quick reply.
I unlocked it already. Its just the t-mob crap i want to get rid off. where about can i donload the roms ?
thanks
found the solution ...
just upgraded it with an original firmware and the no_id file
thanks for the help
Ivo
...and where can i find the original firmware and the no_id file? :?:
I would like to have my Orange m500 clean too! Only with the applications i'd like to use.
Can this only be done with installing those extendedRoms? Its very difficult for me to find a clear tutorial about this.
regards
The ext-rom brands your magician. When you want to get rid of it just
- make a backup of calendar, contacts, tasks etc.
- hard-reset
- folow initialize procedure on screen
- soft-reset as soon as you get the standard WM background & before the customizatiin (=branding) starts.
You need to do this last step after every hard-reset unless you go for BIG Storage & completely wipe-out the ext-rom & get a storage folder of 27Mb instead of 7Mb.
Instructions for BS are to be found on the forum. No need to search for a special rom, you can do it with your current rom.
Cheers, M
thnx @ oltp
I'll give it a try

First:
I will NOT be held responsible for any problems caused by this tool.
I'm releasing the 0.1 version of the Wizard Unlocker. It's similar to the imei-check.co.uk unlocker (it patches the same bit), however it doesn't cost you £20 per bit  .
Version 0.2: New CID unlocking abitity
Credits for the 0.2 version go to SPV-Developers, namely: itsme, Arc and Arisme...
Version 0.2a: CID unlocking abitity FIXED
Credits for the 0.2a version go to Chan, who took care of the errors I managed to punch in the script when I packed it the first time... Thanks!
Version 0.2b: SIMlock abitity FIXED
Credits for the 0.2b version go to kpcomp, who found the missing GOTO End instruction after a SIMlock... Thanks!
Version 0.3: SIMLock ability redone for all SPLs
Credits go to Buzz_lightyear (Go buzz) for pointing out the obvious.
Now version 0.3a: Minor update, corrected Rapi unlocking
Credits go to everyone that reported problems in the forum
I can't stress enough that this work is heavily base upon the itsme tools, so my thanks to him. Also, spv-developers and xda-developers boards were an invaluable resource.
I would also like to thank all the people that supplied their phone info in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33479
Ok, now the instructions...
1 - Unzip lokiwiz.zip to somewhere in your computer
2 - Guarantee that your phone is connected via ActiveSync with the computer
3 - Execute lokiwizMSL.bat (on your computer! My inbox is filled with this kind of error)
4 - It will give you the SIM unlock code after it runs, just get a different SIM from the one your phone is locked to and insert the code...
5 - Have fun...
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q - Will it hard-reset my device?
A - No. It will do a soft reset at the end of the process for applying the changes
Q - I locked my device and now it shows only the SIMlock window
A - Get your phone showing the SIMlock window. Connect it via ActiveSync. Use the tool to get your unlock code
Q - How about the CID unlock tool? (for using any type of roms)
A - Doesn't work yet... Stay tuned
Q - I'm having problems with Unlocker not connecting to the phone
A - Disable all kinds of Antivirus, Firewalls and similar applications before running Lokiwiz.
thank you for your help and attention , i tried so many times but nothing happend, it shows : your code is.... , (no numbers)
Thank you
same here,
just comes up saying SIMLock Code......is your code but no actual code.

ROM flashing FAQ
ROM flashing FAQ:
Q: What is a ROM?
A: A ROM contains the operating system and often additional software which can be “installed” to your mobile device. Most ROM’s provided by the chefs (people who create cutomized ROM’s) just contain the operating system and additional applications. Shipping ROM’s (ROM’s provided by the manufacturer or official providers) also contain a Radio ROM and a bootloader.
Please notice: A ROM can ONLY be flashed to a device it is made for.
Q: What is a bootloader?
A: A bootloader contains information about your device. It is quite similar to a computer’s BIOS. Official bootloader also have a security option called CID (Carrier-ID) which allows you just to install ROM’s from the provider of your phone. So, if you want to flash another ROM, you first have to turn off this security option by “CID-unlocking” your device. Check the flashing instructions below on how to do this.
Q: What is a Radio ROM?
A: The Radio ROM contains the drivers for the communication devices of your phone. Some ROM’s need one or more specific Radio ROM’s to work properly. Usually the chef, who created the ROM recommends a Radio ROM. But don’t mind, if your Radio Rom does not match, you can always flash another without needing to flash the ROM containing the Operating System (OS) again.
You can check the version of your Radio ROM when you click Start > Settings > System > Device Information or booting your device (there will appear three lines of red text. The Radio ROM version is the number after the R:.
You can download Radio ROM's at the xda-developers FTP-Server in the Uploads/Kaiser/Radio-Folder. Username and password are both 'xda'. To install it, download, extract and execute it. Then follow the instructions on your screen. Flashing a Radio does not delete any files on your device's ROM.
To choose the perfect Radio ROM for you check this thread.
Q: What means CID(-unlock)?
A: All known providers add a Carrier ID to their devices. This CID is added to prevent a device being flashed with a ROM which is not from the provider and/or not designed for your device. Be sure to brick your Kaiser, if you try to flash a ROM designed for a Wizard.
To flash other ROM's, you have to unlock the CID. If you flash another ROM on a CID-locked device, the new ROM will not work properly.
Q: What means SIM-Unlock?
A: Lots of providers want to bind their customers. So they add a SIM-Lock to their devices with only allows to use SIM-Cards using their networks. If you want to use a SIM-Card from another provider, you need to SIM-unlock your device. This can be done by contacting the phone's provider (paid & sometimes free), using a service like www.imei-check.com, or using Jockyw2001's Kaiser SIM Unlocker.
Q: Can I brick my phone by flashing a ROM?
A: To be true… YES. But if you follow all instructions, it is quite implausible that your device bricks.
Q: Does flashing affect the warranty of my device?
A: Yes, but, as long as your device can be flashed again, you will find some help at jcespi2005's thread where you can find dumped original ROMs.
Q: What can I do, if i gain problems with the ROM i flashed to my device?
A: First of all you should inform the creator by posting in the ROM's thread if the problem is not described yet. Then you should wait for an update/fix or, if the issue is a showstopper for you, try another ROM.
Q: Which is the best/fastest/... ROM?
A: Nobody can answer you this properly. There are nearly daily new ROM's here and everybody has different demands to a ROM. If you want to know, which fits best for you, read the ROM description and try the ROM('s). Only you can decide, which ROM is the best (for you).
Q: I own an AT&T Tilt. After flashing another ROM, my hardkeyboard does not work properly.
A: AT&T uses another keyboard layout than HTC. To fix this, install the tilt keyboard fix.cab. You can download it at Dutty's Kaiser CAB Collection.
Q: What is the difference between a hardreset and a softreset?
A: A softreset reboots your device. A hardreset sets all settings back to the ROM's defaults. All of your data, settings and additionally installed programs will be deleted.
Q: What are *.CAB-files and/or how do i use them?
A: Cab-files for WINCE-Devices are different to the files you may have seen (e.g. on your Windows Installation CD). They do not only contain files but also installation information similar like a MSI package. To install them, just copy the *.cab to your Mobile Device and run it from there. Most shipped ROMs delete cab-files after executing, most cooked do not. To be sure, check the registry. If HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\nDynamicDelete = 0 (DWORD decimal), cab-Files will not be deleted after execution.
Q: I have questions which are not described in this FAQ. What shall i do?
A: First of all search the forum and the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com). Maybe the question has been already answered. If you don't find an answer, create a new thread. As i know from experience, the community will always try to help you as soon as possible.
Introduction to ROM flashing
Introduction to ROM flashing
These are the steps on how to flash your device the first time:
1: CID-unlock your device by following the instructions at pof's HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 - CID Unlock & Flash any ROM to your device (4 free)-thread
This needs to be done to flash a ROM to your device which is not created from your provider (or HTC if you own a device with HTC branding).
Additionally you may check persianowns Kaiser HardSPL Walkthrough Video.
If you are running in a white screen running HardSPL, please read this thread.
2: Search this forum for the ROM, you like to flash. Then download and, if needed, extract it.
3. Check, if your Radio-ROM matches the new ROM. If you don't find any information in the ROM's thread don't mind. You can update your Radio ROM later if you gain any problems.
4. Make sure, your devices battery status is NOT LESS than 50%.
5. Connect your device to your computer and wait until activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center recognizes it
6. Last chance to synchronize and/or backup files. All files and databases will be deleted after performing the next step!
(Optional: If you want to save your text messages and/or eMails, use a tool like DotFred's PIM Backup.)
7. Execute the .exe file you downloaded with the ROM.
8. Follow the instructions and DO NOT disconnect your device until flashing is finished.
9. Disconnect your device from your computer.
10. You need to delete the old activesync/Windows Mobile Device Center partnership, because it thinks, your device is not the same as before... and it is right ^^. Deleting an old partnership is only possible, if the device is not connected.
(Optional) If you want to change the name of your device, do that now by clicking Start > Settings > System > About > Device ID. Enter the new name of your device and click on Ok.
11. Connect your device to your computer, create a new partnership and synchronize. Then configure your device to your needs and if needed install additional software.
Congratulations! You succeed flashing your device!
Great FAQ....simple, concise, and informative
Well done
Excellent post bmueller77!

Let's see. I am already working on a more general FAQ version including info on Windows Mobile but, to be honest, a general flashing introduction would be much more complicated and i want to make it as easy as possible for newbies.
I think it would be better, if someone grabs this thing and would edit it for another device to keep it concise. If anyone is interested, just ask me via PM and i'll send you the whole including vbCode.

Got it. Thank you.
I have made this thread a sticky upon request.
I feel that this info should be ported to the wiki so that it can be found and edited by all.
At the momnet we have FAR to many sticky's in this section which makes finding anything hard to say the least.
Have a look at the BA section (in my signature) to see what I mean.
Aright, will add a general version to the wiki at the weekend.
Thank You but still have a question
Hi, I just got my HTC TyTn 2 as a present from my dad he got it from orange and got it sim unlocked for me. But I don't like it because Orange has their crappy stuff on it I wont the original stuff from HTC on it like HTC Home etc. I've got my phones detail in my signature can some one plz help i jus want to know if i can use it on my rom n radio version. Thanks.
thx
Super! Thank you!
this thread is awesome...it really help a newbie like me
the wiki is also very helpful
keep up the good work
I've been flashing ROMs for a long time. There is one thing I don't know. Does anyone know what is the reason behind stopping flashing RadioROMs at 95%? Whatever RadioROM I want to flash to my Vario III (keeping the standard T-Mobile ROM) it stops. In the RadioROM thread, there were several cases like mine. Can it be that for being able to flash another RadioROM you have to flash a custom ROM like Dutty or Schaps before flashing the Radio? I cannot recall such problems with Hermes.
Thanks for the guide. Also am not new to this I haven't done this in a while. ROM Flash went without a hitch. Keep up the good work.

So long as your phone is SIM unlocked as in you can use any sim card in it then you flash it exactly the same as described in this thread. I flashed mine no problems. Does that answer your question or are you just wanting the home screen without flashing? If so Im not sure if thats possible, I heard some people say that you can enable it on orange phones but I flashed mine before I ever tried it.
Excellent FAQ!
Now i can get my hands dirty with that so called "ROM flashing" .
noobie question, but how do i install a cab file? thanks

[REF] Easiest way to SIM unlock your Elf/Elfin even if it's "MCC+MNC = None"

[REF] Easiest way to SIM unlock your Elf/Elfin even if it's "MCC+MNC = None"
First of all, sorry for my bad english...
Here goes the best way I found to unlock all Elf/Elfin, even those with the deadly "MCC+MNC=None" (wich is my elfin).
I saw some people say that when flashed with "Elf_Elfin_2.11.0.0_MFG_ModuleBuild" the phone it's not SIM locked anymore, but after reflashing with another rom it got locked again.
I tried that myself and it was true, I flashed "Elf_Elfin_2.11.0.0_MFG_ModuleBuild", then flashed other rom (with only the OS part) over it and bam, was locked again.
So the locking part should be in the OS. After looking over the system files, I found two files (SIMLock.exe and SIMLock.exe.0416.MUI [my OS was BR Portuguese]) and thought "here is the locking problem" (because "Elf_Elfin_2.11.0.0_MFG_ModuleBuild" don't have those files in the system folder!). Then I deleted those files and it wasn't SIM locked anymore... but it didn't find any networks.
So I serached a little more (google is your best friend in times like this) an discovered that the file rilgsm.dll is responsible for the network... It starts and calls SIMLock.exe, if SIMLock.exe returns a valid SIMcard, then rilgsm.dll starts the network service.
So that's the diference between "Elf_Elfin_2.11.0.0_MFG_ModuleBuild" and the other roms, its rilgsm.dll don't have the part that calls to SIMLock.exe, it just starts the network service based on the SIM card you have inserted.
So I just took that dll from that test rom and copied over another rom and it worked like a charm!
Enough talking, here's what you gotta do to SIM unlock your Elf/Elfin (no matter what rom you have):
You will need this file (unlocked "rilgsm.dll")
- Extract the file you just downloaded to a temporary folder.
- Turn on your mobile WITHOUT the SIM Card.
- Connect your Elf to your PC (activesync).
- Find the files "rilgsm.dll", "SIMLock.exe" and "SIMLock.exe.0***.MUI" (the *** depends on the language of your OS) on the windows folder of your mobile and make a bakup of them (in case you want to SIM lock it again).
- Copy the extracted "rilgsm.dll" over the one on the windows folder (say yes when it asks to replace the file).
- Delete both "SIMLock.exe" and "SIMLock.exe.0***.MUI".
- Turn off your mobile.
- Insert any SIM Card (that didn't work before) and turn your mobile on again and enjoy your newly unlocked ELFin!
If you intend to flash some other rom, just copy the dll again and it's ready to go.
Hope this helps.
Great find!!!
For Rogers users who are using the regular stock ROM, it is probably a good idea for them to use the regular free unlocking method because rilgsm.dll is responsible for Rogers Name Display. Other than that, I hope it works well for everyone else!!!
Anyone else tried this?
yes, I have, did not work. phone does not have simlock.exe or simlock.exe.xxxx.mui on windows folder, and just replacing rilgsm.dll does not affect carrier lock. when inserting sim card from other operators, it still asks for subsidy code.
Tested phone is:
ELF010050
BSTAR502
IPL: 2.24.0002
SPL: 2.26.0000pof
99HEH077-00
Operator Tim Brazil
ps.: I tried as well when phone was with stock rom, and was the same thing.
br
Good idea!!
I haven't tried your procedure but I also know that OS contained in "unbricker rom" (test only rom) do SIM unlocking, so I believe this will work . I will try it soon in my free time. Thanks!!!
I'll try to reflash my elfin tomorrow and do some other tests with it, to see if there are any problems with some specific roms.
My elfin:
ELF010050
BSTAR502
IPL 2.24.0002
SPL 2.24.0000
99HEH077-00
Claro Brazil
I'll post something more tomorrow.
Sorry for the lack of testing before posting (newbie yet).
i would feel better by patching or replacing the simlock.exe file instead of changing the dll.
zerostuff, why don't you add a poll to this thread to see if it works for most people?
Thank you for the idea dsixda.
I sent the .exes and .dlls to a friend of mine and asked asked him if he can find the locking part in those files (because i'm just a normal user and don't know anything about hex editing and stuf).
And I'm still testing some roms on my elfin to see if I can find a working and a non-working way to unlock it (so far, all the roms are working).
thinking of buying a htc elf
hi all im thinking of buying a htc elf but its locked to orange is it easy to unlock and get rid of the orange start up logo .
would you give me step by step guide on how to do it ?
thanks in advance
As you can see, some is easy to unlock others no solution yet...
@ zerostuff
elfin ELF010050 BSTAR502 from Vivo Brazil, had the simlock.exe and simlock0416.exe.mui . I replaced those files with and small clock app, and replaced rilgsm.dll , and did not worked (error 'unavailable file', and then hang) . So, I deleted the simlock.* , and phone got into menu, but no signal.
indeed, this is a way to go, but still need improvements.
@ chester-lad-2009
search board, there are many topics regarding that. this topic is not for that discussion.

hi, i use onyx 4.43 rom and when i try to delete a message tell me "could not delete. i try in windows and in my elfin too using total comander and sktools. how can delete this files?
I've try on my HTC Touch 3450 (PT) substitute the file and i can't! And i can't found these 2 files...
Using Total Commander
First we move the rilgsm.dll to windows folder, then delete the two files SIMLock.exe & SIMLock.exe.0***.mui, and ignore the Warning! Could not delete 1 file(s)...
Then reboot the ELFin and it´s done....loooooool... No need to put codes...
Just doing those steps, it´s done the SIM_Unlock
Strange??? i don´t know, but work´s
Note: Tested with One PT ELF and One ELFin BRS, worked fine!!!
Great post works like a charm!
i needed to use another explorer since my original rom dont let me move or copy windows folder file!
i used WinFileCE.exe to do the trick , but it worked !
1 more thing , is it possible to cook a rom with this files inside!? because if i hard reset the phone it relocks it self by this method!!
These two files they realy removed???
I cant' remove this two files because the cellphone is using them, how can i stop process's on Windows Mobile?
Using TC I was able to copy rilgsm.dll to \Windows. But simlock.* are a different story and I wasn't able to delete them.
Anyway, using this version of rilgsm causes the phone connection to die: it cannot be set on from Comm Manager. And then after some time, Comm Manager throws two or three errors.
It's an HTC Touch from Claro, Argentina. The ROM is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442391
Code:
Touch version : Elfin
Device ID : ELF010150
CID : BSTAR301
IPL : 2.24.0002
SPL : 3.07.cmonex
ROM Version : 3.07.720.03

Page Pool : 12 MB
RAM Size : 128 MB
ROM Size : 256 MB

Any information you guys want or some tests that could be run in the device, just tell me.
Cheers.
Not worked Efl 3450 ( 64/128)
The idea was great, but not worked with Efl 3450 ( 64/128)...
My device was patched (IPL 2.27/SPL 2.28 cmonex) and Rom ELVES ROM V5.0 - CE OS 5.2.2021.
No files found in windows dir "SIMLock.exe" and "SIMLock.exe.0***.MUI", so i just copy this file (unlocked "rilgsm.dll") to windows dir and i did a soft reset.
Result: deviced hanged.. new soft reset: boot ok, but no radio ( even trying to turning on manually), just wi-fi working..(nice to make calls from skype )
I don't have any clues about how to bypass simlock..
Any help will be appreciate.
Cheers
RILGSM.dll is not locked/unlocked
The thing is, that file controls GSM<-->PDA radio functions. As you took RILGSM from a "test" rom (is unlocked one)
When u sim unlock a device, it doesnt overwrite RILGSM with "unlocked" properties
The solution will be rewrite a RILGSM.dll file, and write a SIMLOCK.exe file with spoof properties to make think device is unlocked

Few questions about HTC Arrive

Just got an Arrive from sprint and I havent been to keen in the windows 7 series. My last phone was HTC Touch Pro 2...
Wondering how to unlock or jailbreak on Arrive kind of confused compared to how easy it was on W 6.5 Thanks also sorry for being a noob
Also I updated it to 7.5 Mango
Hi,
I am also a former Touch Pro 2 user. The flashing is still very easy. Check out our subforums for HTC Arrive/7 Pro at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1083
Step 1: Downgrade.
Your version of the phone is too secure for flashing custom ROMs. Downgrade using one of the stock ROMs in one of these links:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427907
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_7_Pro/Shipped_Roms
Step 2: SPL
You're going to want to use this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16189671
Follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16189677#post16189677
Step 3: Custom ROM
Choose a ROM to install for Gold_C/GoldC/Arrive from this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1086
The stickies are very outdated and new members aren't allowed to post in development sections so it's very difficult to help unless we've been on XDA for a while for another device.
Thanks also have another question...
Whats the difference between unlocks ex. Interlop and Developer
I just want to dl some free apps that i dont have to pay for thanks alot
developer unlock allows you to sideload 3 apps, interop does not have this restriction. Also, interop apps can access restricted areas of the phone (file explorer, registry, etc.)
Free apps can be downloaded from the marketplace.
There's a good explanation of the unlock types on a thread in the dev&hacking sub-orum, but the basic gist of it is as follows:
Full-unlock: All apps run with full permissions, can sideload and run anything even native EXEs and drivers. Requires a custom ROM (and therefore bootloader unlock) at this time.
Bootloader-unlock: Allows flashing custom ROMs. Has no impact on the running OS. On HTC phones, generally requires SPL downgrade via GoldCard. See HSPL and MAGLDR.
Root-unlock: Specific apps can run with full permissions. Does not currently allow native EXEs. Known methods require Interop Unlock, and usually use WP7 Root Tools. Expected by most modern homebrew libraries.
Interop-unlock: Allows sideloading all apps, and apps are allowed to access high-privilege system components (drivers, etc.) Currently requires device-specific hacks; sometimes can be done without dev-unlock first. Can be sufficient for registry and sometimes filesystem access by older homebrew libraries. Required for WP7 Root Tools.
Dev-unlock: Allows sideloading a limited number of apps. Apps with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES can't be loaded or run. Available officially from Microsoft (developer account or "AppHub"), or unofficially through some device-specific hacks. Used to be available from ChevronWP7.
Thanks I used the Lead Rom on my HTC Arrive... Thanks for the info once again
