Different email notification per account - Palm Treo 750

Is there a hack to have a different notification/sound for new mail based on the email account?
Just as you can have a different notification based on know caller or unknown caller, I am looking for a way to have a different email notification based on which account the email comes into.
Thanks in advance

I'm looking for the same info. I have 3 different email accounts I monitor on my Tilt. My Yahoo, my daughter's Yahoo and my work. Regardless of which one comes in, it has the same sound. I would like a different sound for each one, so when I hear it, I can determine whether I need to check it or not. I did a google search and didn't really find an answer to this. Thanks!

I'm also interested in something like this. Any luck guys?

Same with me!
I am trying to change the email notification so the standard email account has a different sound than the corporate account. When I try to change the settings (Email Settings > Notifications), it is a global change.
Can I not have two different sounds for the email accounts that are from two very different entities?
Thank you in advance.

Just a thought, I've never tried it as I don't do Outlook email on my phone, but what if this email address is the same one linked to the person in your contacts? would that specific Contact then have their unique sound for any notification from them?

mail2web change reply to email address

I setup a mail2web email account with push access to my Cing 8125 and it works beautifully. I'm using this mostly, however, as a way to reliably get my gmail, so my gmail is forwarding to this address. I don't really want another "active" email address to give out, so I would like to be able to reply to the forwarded emails and have it appear as though it came from my gmail. I read mail2web's knowledge base and didn't find anything. Anybody know of a way?
I also need to know how to do something like this with outlook and pop3 adresses. I've got 4 emails set up with outlook and they all sync to my device just under "outlook email" that doesn't bother me. But what does is when someone sends me and email and i reply with my device, sync, and then later figure out that it replied through and email that it wasn't sent to.
I have different adresses for different people/occasions etc. So i don't really want a person thats emailing me on one account to know of my other account.
Looking to do this as well. Any ideas?
Did anyone find a way to do this? I would like to use mail2web service but I don't want to confuse people when I reply from @mail2web.com instead of @gmail.com
Thank you

Problem with mail client: can't create accounts

This is a weird one.
I've a number of POP and IMAP accounts set up, as well as Hotmail in the mail client of WM5 (latest O2 release). I've had no problems creating accounts in the past but I now find that the option for creating new accounts is greyed out. All the existing accounts work fine.
I've not done anything to alter the operation of the mail client other than install Saman's SMS Delivery Receipt Fix.
Has anyone seen this problem before? I've not been able to find it discussed elsewhere. Any ideas how to fix it?
G
Further investigation suggests that the problem is that I have reached a maximum number of e-mail accounts: 4. If I delete an account I can add a new one. It doesn't seem to matter if it's an imap or pop account.
Does this sound right? Is there a hack to change it?
G
I saw a document on www.microsoft.com that said you could only add 4 additional accounts. Sorry I can't find it atm.
Then again, on this site, someone else reported the same problem and there was a reply that another poster had >4.

[Q] Sense 3.0 Email Questions

Now that people are getting their new phones I would like to know if Sense 3.0 has any improvements in the email application, specifically when using IMAP.
Firstly I would like to know if the email app now supports IMAP IDLE, which may be listed as Push.
Also I would like to know if you can have multiple "From" addresses per mailbox so that I can choose who to reply as.
Lastly I would like to know if you can have an auto BCC for each mailbox.
Thanks.
I guess I asked too soon.
Bumping.

Just a quick reply to this
1) I have my google mail set up in htc mail as an IMAP there is no option to set the update schedule for push mail. I cannot see any other option to set it up for IMAP Idle so I assume it does not work with HTC mail.
2) I have both an exchange activesync mailbox and a google email mailbox set up in htc mail. When you compose an email there is an option on the top to select the from address you are sending to.
3) In the send and recieve settings for each mailbox there is an "always bcc me" option. I just tested it and it looks like it will only automatically bcc to the same account you are sending from. You do have the option of adding other accounts when you are composing an email.
Hope this helps.
one more thing abt the new Sense email app;
is multiple selection possible for ex. to 'mark as read' or 'delete' purposes?
(asking as a potential Sensation owner soon)
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yes this was implemented in sense 2.1

Thanks for this. It's a pity that HTC decided to add eye candy to Sense instead of working on useful features like IMAP IDLE.
I just need some clarification on (2). Does changing the From address change the account or can you have two accounts with multiple from addresses?
Thanks

I don't understand what you mean but from what I gather it changes the account you send from. Only one from account can be selected.
I don't know if it is new but the Sense 3 Mail program also supports multiple exchange accounts.
Extra exchange accounts must be added from within the HTC mail application.
Now I can use my personal and work exchange accounts on the phone at once. 1 up over my Touch Pro 2.

Ahh. OK. What I was talking about was using it with an account that is a catchall. account
Say I have owned domain custom-roms.com I could have any email that was sent to any address at custom-roms.com all come into one mailbox. So email sent to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] would all come into the same mailbox which could have the default address of [email protected].
However when it came to replying, say I wanted to reply to an email sent to "kernel" but I didn't want to reply from the default address of "admin", with some mail clients, like K-9, I could choose to use one of the other "From" addresses even though they all belong to the same account.
Ok I see now, setting the from address to an alias set up to the account.
In that case no, from your example you will only be able to choose the [email protected] account. The from addresses you select from are derived from the mailboxes you set up in HTC mail. It is not a text box which you can edit but a list you select from.
The only way to do what you want is to set up an actual account for each of those emails, not aliases and then add each of them to HTC mail. not really what you were looking for though.
I have a question. On my G2 I was able to press a button at the top of each email to "Show Pictures" to display the embedded images and content. I can see it when I bring up my Google account emails, but not my normal POP3 email. As it is the only thing I can view in my emails are just words and links. Is there anyway to fix it so I can view images on there?
Thanks for the help!
exchange calendar sync
Hi,
I am using my phone with my company's exchange server. Since I bought it 1 week ago i never managed to sync my calendar. it tries for about 2 mins then it tells me socket timeout error.
i did a lot of search in the forums but none of the recommendations worked.
strangely my galaxy tab has no issues at all, working just fine.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Cheers

[Q] Show all emails

I have several accounts set up on my phone, all send and receive ok, but when I open up any of the accounts (except the exchange account) they only show unread mail. Any other mail in the inbox is not visible, although when on my computer outlook displays all inbox mail. Only had the phone a few days and cannot see what I settings I need to change, cannot find any threads relating to this.
It's a pain because I cannot lookup previous emails for info. etc.
Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction
IMAP vs POP
I am assuming that you have your outlook set up to access your email account using POP which causes Outlook to physically download and remove the data from the server. If you change your Outlook settings to use IMAP instead then the data will live on the server and you can access it from your computer, your phone, another computer using web-access etc.
To get this set up you can search the web for IMAP directions for your specific provider and outlook along with your phone.
Hope this helps.
Bob
Try to increase the sync duration for the seperate accounts. Are you going to individual accounts or trying to look at it from the combined view. Removing the account and adding back might help too.
Thanks for the replies, I had worked around the problem by forwarding any email from the 2 problem accounts to gmail. However they are POP accounts so will try altering to IMAP to see if that cures the problem.
Thanks again

[Q] Email notifications on a per-sender basis

I know that Gmail app permits to have different notifications for different email folders (labels) so that for example I can decide to be notified for every mail, except for the ones from Groupon that go in the 'Groupon' label.
I'd like to know if there is a way to obtain the same result (I want to get sound notifications only for emails that come from some people) with other email apps different than Gmail.
With Android Email it doesn't seem to be possible, it's a notify all or nothing. The same is for Outlook.com and for Yahoo Mail.
Do you know if any app other than Gmail has this option? Am I doing something wrong?
