Hi,
As the device isn't sold via Vodafone UK we wouldn't have an automatic internet set up available for the device, although we would have a generic copy of Vodafone's internet settings that you can attempt to install within the relevant menus on the handset

I am having a really difficult time setting up MMS on my VOX. I have Dr. Gonzo's 0.3 Rom installed. I setup the GPRS for internet use without a hitch, work perfectly I just cannot get a MMS to send. I have searched many sites and wiki's and I think I got it all setup right.. Here are my settings:

Hi all, myabe a little n00bish, however i contacted my supplier O2 for settings so i cant set up my SPV for MMS and internet browsing through GPRS, and they sent me all the settings listed below, however the setup in the SPV handset is so straight forward. Any help would be appreciated. Also should i delete all the old orange MMS and GPRS settings as it was an Orange handset?
Here are the settings i was sent. Basically need to know where to put the settings, and what exactly i need to enter. Thanks again

yeah.
you just select your country and provider and the settings will be installed automatically
I found that to get GPRS and MMS working at the same time on my vox with the settings entered by connection settings program, they had to be altered slightly.

With those settings both GPRS/EDGE Internet and MMS send/recieve work. I found the default settings only one or the other worked.
Hope that helps
Thanks for all that mate, however for some reason i dont get the "Connects to: o2 Active" option, i only have The Internet, Orange MMS, Secure WAP network, WAP network, and Work. They are my only options in the list i can choose.
Shall i delete or the Orange related settings?? Maybe this will help?
Also under the SMS Service option it asks SMS over: GSM preferred or GPRS?
Although my SMS are coming through no problems, but would this affect MMS?
Ok edit - MMS seems to be now working since i deleted all the orange connections, but still cant browse the internet so which settings affect this directly?

Have you ran the connection set-up program? That will put the o2 active options in, then you change the settings to what I have listed.
ah ok great, keep forgetting to do it once i get home. will do it tonight
thanks again for your help
mmm i just tried running that setup file on the handset, and after i selct where to install it to, i get an error "installation was unsuccessful. The program or settings cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions"
Ideas?
It sounds like your handset is still application locked, and you need to unlock it to install non-verified software. I don't have a link on how to do it at the moment, have a search for SDA_ApplicationUnlock on here.
I have made another modded Version from JF 1.42 RC33 Lite Edition
This ROM dont have any ringtones, alarms or notifications so get the Stock Tones Pack and Unzip it into SDCard so you can change it after Installation.
The Image have Following Feature.
Google Activation Process / Signup Process can be bypassed (ADP1.1 Style)
Activation also dont require SIM Card (ADP 1.1 Style)
Date Settings Defaulted to DD-MMM-YYYY
All Indian Carriers GPRS / EDGE Settings Includes
As Data is major Problem in India Activating Android G1 always require a Borrowed SIM which have Data Plan. so Wipping Android Setting Become Headache in this version you can also Activate and Link your Google or Google Apps A/c by clicking to any Google Apps. giving user name and password over GPRS or WiFi also.
To link your Google A/c Just make Wifi or GPRS Ready and then click to Gmail Icon and Signing by User Name Password then go to Setting / Data Syncronysation and Press Meny and Sync the Desired options u selelcted.

If you have a Phone which is already Activate then any ROM will work fine without SIM or GPRS / EDGE / Data but if you Wiped the Phone in Normal ROm it will not work without SIM and also Require Activation by Signing into Google A/c
This ROM can be used to over such thing and directly go to Android without Worrying
If Any buddy Realy want to Add his APN Setting into ROM
Please Share your Operators Setting
Name of Operator - Country - MCC - MNC - APN is least thing which is required

You just have to Rename the attached ZIP as
update.zip
and put it in sdcard root directory and go to Recovery mode and flash it
You require rooted phone to do that.

i live in the US so i dont have a need for this but it looks really cool!
I updated my phone. Thanks for that but i can't find any of the indian APN. I use idea here in Amritsar, Punjab but i have no luck. Can you post APN's for amsterdam, London, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, Italy and some other european countries because i have to go there every year for my business. If not european please add For Punjab Idea or Spice whatever they call it. Really like the skip activation method and really appreciate that. Now don't need to root again after a wipe.
Sounds great, I live in Romania and my orange credit card is empty so its great to flash without activating it later again.
now two questions.
can you also deactivate that myfav sends automatic emails to t-mobile?
Thats nerving also here in romania.
and for settings apn. if you like and make it also romanian confirm
just add APN:
Name: Orange
APN: internet
thats it.. quiet easy

Please note that in order to get settings marked by an asterisk (*) in the "Type of settings" field to work, you need to disable the other APN setting for that provider. Example: Telenor have two APN settings, one for MMS and one for Web. Due to restrictions in Android, only one setting can be used simultaneously, so if you want to use Web you need to edit the APN: field so that that pair of settings become useless. Ex. APN: "telenoredited" will not work and hence make the MMS settings work.
You can try to edit some of these settings so that you have all settings in one APN, but I have not tried this and do not know if it will work, but in theory it should, if the two different settings have the same APN fields in common.
Also note that I have only verified the O2 PAYG settings, as this I currently live in the UK. I will however verify the Telenor and perhaps the Netcom settings during Eastern in the beginning of April. These settings have however been reported working by other users of the internet.
Hope these settings will help
You can use 2 Different Setting in Android for Web as well for MMS, Just Create 2 Different APN Settings with Same MCC and MNC.
Just keep following
For APN of Web
type = default
and for APN for MMS
type=mms
Proxy Connection really dont work good for Android and iPhone as sony many Google Application may not work
So Please give me APN Setting for Telenor which dont use Proxy Address

Hi,
I tried to respond to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000824 ...but the forum won't let me.
So I purchased a Motorola Defy MB525 direct, Android 2.1 and I'm in Australia trying to get either the Internet Tethering (which seems to be USB/Bluetooth only on Android 2.1) or the 3G Mobile Hotspot application provided my Motorola using wifi to work for me.
I can connect to my phones IP address via USB cable (using the latest Motorola driver and setting the USB to developer mode on the phone) and I can enable wifi and connect to the IP address of the phone through my wireless home network.
However, when I activate the tethering option, I get the first message screen, then press ok. After that, I immediately get the message:
"Warning
There is no valid tethering APN
Please contact the customer service to update your tethering APN."
When I activate the included 3G Mobile Hotspot application I get an error "Cannot setup data lin, please contact your provider".

Can you access the internet on your phones browser directly using either of your APNs? It seems your problem exists because this is not possible. Tethering uses the internet connection from your phone to allow a computer to connect wirelessly.
I am from South Africa, here our APNs require a username and password, this could possibly be the case for you. Try internet as username and 1234 as password. Or just contact your service provider and tell them to send you the settings.
Defy Tethering
There seems to be a mix up in almost all forums where the term wifi is used. Home wifi is mixed with service provider wifi. Some American carriers website mentions the term "wifi" but it exclusively refers to internet via their network.
I have a Moto Defy, not rooted and recently updated to Froyo. I tether the phone to my laptop using Azilink and it works well on home wifi. I have not tried 3G hotspot as the charges are quite high where I live.
However under 3G hotspot on pressing menu one may find setup for "local" wifi with encryption like WEP and WPA for connecting the phone to laptop. This can be done even if the hotspot is disabled. But I could not get on the internet as there is no bridging mechanism between the network created by the above method and the home wifi connection between the phone and wireless router.
Can someone throw some light on the above please?
Surprisingly on a Chinese phone with Froyo usb tethring works well. While Linux detects "Auto USB" network, on Windows TAP-Win32 driver works well.
