I was wondering if my AT&T 3g sim card (from tilt) would a. work in a blackberry phone, and b. will I still have my unlimited data etc. I believe the plan is called PDA personal max or something.

it will work but you may have to change the data plan(not sure as i dont have att). just call costumer service or wait for the answer here

im not sure what the personal max plan is... but if you look at your bill check and see what it is using for data, if the billing goes to wap.cingular ... see if you can set up a blackberry connection using this:
access point name: wap.cingular
user name: [email protected] (must be in caps)
Password: CINGULAR1
domain: wap.cingular
if this is your plan and you are accessing the internet using this connection it should still work the same as your tilt.

TMobile EDGE/GPRS Not Working

I just flashed my HTC Wizard with Core 2.0n. Its a G4 Locked wizard with TMo in the USA. I have the full PDA $30 (Or is it $20) a month data plan. My GPRS settings are as follows
Proxy
216.155.165.050:8080
Authentication
Tried both CHAP and PAP
Modem Thingy
wap.voicestream.com
I have tried to put the ip as follows
216.155.165.050
216.155.165.050_
216.155.165.50
216.155.165.50_
The line means that there is a space after the last digit. When I try all these settings, I get different errors in IE - It either halts on "Locating", or says the page was downloaded but corrupted, or the page cant be accessed. Also, I tried running the cab file I found on the forums, but that wont work either. Also, when I send/recieve mail, it says it cant connect with current connection settings.
Someone please let me know how to configure the GPRS!
if you're paying full price, then you probably wont need the proxy. so disable the proxy!
and I think you will want to use
internet2.voicestream.com
if that didnt work
internet3.voicestream.com
wap.voicestream.com is for t-mobile winwap service
Definately fix the IP address to end .50 (no spaces)
--M
if you have the t-mobile total internet plan then you don't need a proxy at all. also replace wap.voicestream.com with internet2.voicestream.com.
okay first thing is first... like everyone said get rid of the proxy.
second contrarty to what everyone is thus far saying, don't change your access point name to internet2.voicestream.com just yet.
Do the following:
Start----Settings---Connections----Connections---Manage Existing Connections----Delete what you have there----Create a New connection and enter in the following info:
Name: T-Mobile Data
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: wap.voicestream.com
Leave user name, password, and domain blank and click Finish.
Try connecting now. If this works your set; if it doesn't work then edit this and try using internet2.voicestream.com for the access point name. The thing is that if you use internet2 and you want to use the T-Mobile mail triggers application you won't be able to as it is not supported by default on the internet2 access point.
As for your MMS settings it should be as follows:
Server name: T-Mobile
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port Number: 8080
Server Address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect Via: T-Mobile (whatever you data connection is called)
Sending size limitation: 300K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0

Oh guys . Thank you for ur help. I will try what u suggested and will tell u tomorrow (I dont have strong cell signal at my house)
I never knew i didnt need the proxy. The tmobile wireless configurator said I did I guess I'm just stupid.
Also, just wondering, I have the Core 2 rom. My battery life goes from 100%, 99,98,97,96, then 5%, 4%, then shuts off. It just misses all the numbers in the middle. The Core 2 Rom thread is 50+ pages long, and I cant find a sure answer. Any suggestions as to how to fix this? Thanks again.

wap settings
You have to setup a connection
you can either use
wap.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com
add a new connection
then when it asks for a apn use either of the ywo that were aboved mentioned
no username or password
I removed the proxy then set the wap thing to internet2.voicestream.com. I also tried wap and internet 3.
I reset the connection, but when I boot up PIE, it says connceting. Then after establishing a connection, it says
The answering moden has dissconnected. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings.
I did remove the proxy and set the WAP thing properly. What do I do now?
Here is the breakdown for t-mobile USA
If you are paying $29.99 this is the internet with a hotspot login account. With this, you simply make a profile with NO proxies, and access point: internet2.voicestream.com . With this setup, you can use your phone as a modem for your laptop.
If you are paying for $5.99 T-zones, you can browse the majority of the web but a few sites are not accessible (i.e. cannot connect to sites such as www.myspace.com) and cannot use this as a modem. In this case, you NEED to have proxies. access point will be wap.voicestream.com with proxies:
216.155.165.50
(.050 is INCORRECT)
HTTP port is 8080, the rest will be the defualt value it suggests.
wap.voicestream.com will NOT work unless you are using the $5.99 t-zones (which they tell you will not work if you ask them for it (b/c they want you to pay more); but i assure you it does)
But for broader internet access, the $29.99 plan will be ideal as it has no website restrictions (though i haven't run into many other than myspace.com with the $5.99 plan)

most of what you posted is correct. however you CAN use the phone as a modem with the $5.99 plan. you just have to specify the proxy in your browser just like you do on the phone.
you also skipped the part about the BB plan for $19.99. it's a trick but it will give you full internet like the total internet plan but for $10 cheaper. it uses wap.voicestream.com and no proxy. you have FULL internet capability and can tether.
I still am having the same problem. What type of authentication do I use? PAP or CHAP?
two things
wap.voicestream.com does work no matter what
make sure when setting up your connection that you select the one you are testing as a defalt or the later will happen. Also you can click and hold the connection name down and say connect.
Lastly call t-mobile and verfiy that they did accidently remove data. Trust me happen more often than not

A patch was posted on May 9th that blocked out and patched the free wap internet. Its a pity. But even if you use the proxy, the websites that were blocked on your phone would still be blocked on your computer becuase you're using the same proxy ports. The reason i didn't mention blackberry is cuz some idiot is gonna read it and ask a t-mobile rep about the blackberry plan for their MDA. I personally have the blackberry plan, but i dont need some stupid noob to mess it up for me and the rest of us. The last thing we need is another internet patch!

oh i know all about the patch as I work for them. ya the free internet is gone but you can still tether with the $5.99 with the proxy. you make a good point that i failed to mention though as it's going to have the same port restrictions that you would have on the phone....so just basic HTML and email.
personally I don't see how they can stop the BB plan from being used on a MDA or any device for that matter. Trust me, t-mobile knows about that "work around" but as of yet, they haven't done anything about it.

It's all about user perception. The general user will select their device on mytmobile and see what services tmobile "offers" for it. The general user assumes that tmobile is only showing thm what will work with their device. The rest of us know otherwise and chhose our device according to the services we "know" will work with whatever device we choose.
While it does suck that the "free" service is gone, thats just what it was, FREE. Oh well. I'll just keep paying $5.99 and using the proxy. As it has been said before, most sites will work and as long as PUSH from my exchange works I could care less about browsing.
Try this
Change your gprs authentication setting from chap to pap.

yep. one thing that does piss me off about the $5.99 plan is that MSN/Live Messenger won't work. I guess it uses a non standard port so I would need the full data plan for it. Unless you guys have a work around for it or maybe a program that you can specify the port or it uses SMS instead of data.
Chap to Pap!
In the USA, I beleive it should be Chap!
What should it be? CHAP or PAP?
Also, I have a really low signal strength around my house. I wanted to know if theres a good but small antenna I can buy to plug into the antenna port on the back of the phone to get better reception.

Fuze ims.cingular?

I did a google search, and couldnt come up with anything.
My Fuze randomly changes from wap.cingular to ims.cingular in the internet settings, and it ends up not being able to connect to the internet. This is draining my battery during the day, since I think my email keeps trying to connect throughout the day, but it doesnt work.
Once I go back to the settings and change it back to wap.cingular, everything works fine.
Anyone know whats up? And anyone know if I can fix this?
Thanks
I do believe you can just remove the ims.cingular settings if they aren't working for you.. .but on ATT both of mine work....?
Kewlj1313
p.s. - i will check and get back soon!
Its not an IMS setting...my MEdia net "account" setting switches to ims.cingular when in the past with my unlocked phones Ive used wap.cingular.
did you put your sim card into an iphone??? i had the same thing happen to me, it got real annoying. i just called in and made sure there was nothing iphoney on my account. they said there wasn't. i had to keep changing the settings manually after every soft reset, and the problem randomly went away after a few days... something else odd i noticed was that the youtube app and PIE dont work...

Did you install the modified Slide 2 Answer phone canvas? I had this issue after I installed that dialer.
Nope to both of those.
I just went in the settings ind put wap.cingular as the access point name, and wap.cingulargprs.com as the username, and whatever it was as the password (as opposed to just leaving it blank like some sites say)...I'll see if the problem comes back tomorrow.
Leave the username and password blank
This exact same thing has been happening with me as well. I'm on the stock AT&T rom but the only thing I've done is go through the custom setup guide for 'noobs' as provided by tyguy in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459335
I don't know if this helps anyone figure out what's causing the issue or not but just wanted to toss that out there.
Driving me crazy
I'm having the same issue and its driving me crazy. I actually have it switch to two different settings; my original, working settings are:
ap: wap.cingular
u: CINGULARGPRS
p: CINGULAR1
When it switches it it either changes the ap to ims.cingular (and possibly erases the username or password), or it leaves the ap as wap.cingular but changes the username to [email protected].
I've installed S2U2 and turned on the slide to answer feature, if that makes a difference, otherwise i'm running a stock AT&T ROM with normal applications installed.
Anyone have any ideas?

have you ever been able to tether via Bluetooth using those settings (CINGULARGPRS and CINGULAR1) in your dial-up connection setup on your computer, or do you just do USB?
i have not tried these but i have tried [email protected] and CINGULAR1 as folks on these boards suggest, as well as leaving both blank (AP is wap.cingular in both cases) per AT&T's advice (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-...le=en_US&_dyncharset=UTF-8&solutionId=KB41984)
no success in either case so, i'll give these a try...
Some other correct settings ( May help...not sure )
APN - wap.cingular

Pass - CINGULAR1
APN - isp.cingular

These all work for me , and depending on the area im in , one may be faster than the other. I also will note the the isp.cingular is generally for the PDA Tethering plans , and may or may not work for people ( Some say they dont have the plan and it still works )
Hope this helps someone

thanks, pyraxiate, i will try every one of these again!
by the way, which dial-up number are you using?
i've tried several with no success:*99#, *99***1# , and *99***3# (at&t says the latter is for Samsung phones)...
i also tried dialing these numbers directly from my Fuze, and got a pop-up msg saying "function anavailable".. are you able to dial any of these numbers directly from your phone, do you hear any modem tone?
this is so strange that everything works when i tether via USB but nothing works via Bluetooth!
try deleting the media net setting "account" all together and then re-setting it up again. that might help...?

GPRS and WAP settings needed for ROGERS

Hi, i have purchased i phones from China, everything works except using my data pack. I cannot configure the GPRS and GSM...Can anyone help...
The GSM data needs Account name, NUMBER, USER NAME, PASSWORD, LINE TYPE (ISDN OR ANALOGUE TO CHOOSE) PRIMARY DNS AND SECONDARY DNS.
THE GPRS ASKS FOR
ACCOUNT NAME , APN, USERNAME, PASSWORD, AUTH. TYPE, PRIMARY DNS AND SECONDARY DNS..
PLS. HELP
THANK YOU
APN: goam.com

The other things you can google.
Unfortunately, even with those settings, WAP will not work. Rogers has recently locked out all non-Rogers phones from using their unlimited WAP plan, requiring you to buy a $5 data day pass, or sign up for a data contract.
I have a data pack on my phone??

unlocked tp2(sprint) on tmobile- no web??

ok the sim unlocker worked!! but i have a problem... 2 actually
#1 i used a prepaid tmobile sim and i talk an text but i cant use internet, i dont think when i select the network im using that it downloads all the settings it needs so what or how do i set the internet to work? added info: the card has 3.00 left on it i dont know if i should get a talk text and web plan on the sim and maybe thats it, i dont know. also i tried ATT sim and all the network settings downloaded and everything worked, the only thing is that card was a regular sim not prepaid with talk text and web on it. so i dont know if it matters.
#2 i used the unlocker and in step 3 i didnt do the cid unlocker i only did sim, and security unlocker. is there a way i can cid unlock without doing the whole 3 step program again?
You need to ask your carrier or google the data settings because the phone does not download them

Where do I go about entering this information?
I'm going from a T-Mo dash 3G to this flashed and unlocked Sprint TP2. I have the voice and text working, but not anything DATA related.
Direction is appreciated, thank you
actually all u do is call tmobile and tell em u switched to a tp2 and they will configure it for u. thats all i did and everything worked after that
I just called them
The gent who I spoke to said it should take effect within 2-48 hours.
It made me curious, so I asked him if he punched any provision or if it just "happens" over time. He said the latter, said to call back in 3 days if no luck so we can manually punch it in.
I'm too impatient to wait for t-mobile
Thanks for the tip though I appreciate it. Anyone else?
settings
it will generally take effect within the 2 hours or sooner in most cases. if it dont just call back and ask tech support to do it manually with u. mine was in 10 mins

Did you keep power cycling it? Or did you just let it do its thing normally?
I keep doing a power cycle since that's what the CSR Recommended, and now when I log on to the browser, it flashes a G instead of the E for a split second, but then I get the "Cannot Connect, dialed #777" error
Am I getting close?

[Q] Can't get Internet working with Prepaid SIM on Skyrocket

Hi,
I bought a new Skyrocket and Internet is working fine with the new connection I got with the phone.
But I am trying to use another pre-paid AT&t SIM card with the phone, everything seems to be working fine except internet.
I can't get internet working. If I put the postpaid SIM back it works.
I already tried the wap.cingular setting, but no luck.
Thanks.
Its an lte phone even on at&t you have to call them and tell them u have this phone or u will have no data. I had the sgs2 bought the skyrocket put in my sim... no data i could make calls a but no data. I called them they had to change stuff on the account because of it being an lte phone. A quick 5 minute call to them and i was good to go.

A call is really not necessary. The fastest thing to do is to add an APN setting as the setting already there is for 4G LTE only. Add the wap.cingular setting and apply it, then your all set.

The reason I am trying to use prepaid on Skyrocket, because I am on unlimited plan on prepaid no.
