New phone, nothing installed, happily synchs with outlook. However, when using file management > Browse contents of your device I see the phone but not contents at all.
Vista 32 Ultimate, all the relevant patches. WMDC 6.1.6965
Any suggestions?
ah, interesting.
I noticed that "temp" and "windows" aren't visible - Vista Home Premium, since you were wondering.

this happens to me & I'm using Windows XP.
Windows Vista will not allow viewing of the windows directory on you phone. This is a 'feature' that MS thinks we need to keep us from tampering with our own devices. (I guess). XP should not have an issue using the latest version of active sync.
You can use the Total Commander's WinCE plugin for that...

"Windows Mobile SMS Sync allows you to sync or backup the text messages on your Windows Mobile Smartphone or PDA with your desktop computer or to an SQL database. The application runs on Windows Mobile 2003, 5.0, and 6.0. Also included with the application is a Windows Desktop application for viewing and searching the text messages that you sync.

It works, only I don't know where the backup messages did go. I can't view them in the desktop app.
Hmm, just found it after reading the manual
Watch it. The SMSlog.csv is locate in \documents\SMS\ on your device.
However. I don't see "my device" when using the "open" command on the desktop app.So I can't import the SMSlog.csv or I have to copy the file manually from the device to the pc. Meanwhile I did and it worked.

I´ll try it
Hi,
I'm new to the forums, would like to say that this site's an awesome resource... I'm pleased to have stumbled on it...
Have just got hold of an XDA Zest and having trouble getting Windows Mobile Device Centre to recognise it as a device.
I've downloaded and installed the 64 bit driver (as per FIG 001). I've restarted several times since install, I've re-installed a few times already..

Just can't get it to play ball... It's not recgonised as a mobile device in device manager, however I can confirm that I can browse the phone's storage card as a regular device.
Any suggestions?
I've already had a good old poke around the forums, see numerous threads about connectivity issues and 64bit vista but none that relate directly to my problem...
Thanks, in anticipation...
Ok - found the problem, was me being a b*llend. Issue was that my USB settings on my h/s had been set to memory card ony *blushes*
Hi all,
Is anyone out there running Vista able to use NBHUtil.exe successfully?
When I run it from my home computers it says it finishes, but there is no output file.
I've got no antivirus, and UAC is disabled. I run it as Administrator and have even tested it physically logged in as Administrator.
I'm trying to make my own boot splash screens - which I can do on an XP machine, but I can't do on any of my Vista machines.
I'd like to be able to make some splash screens at home w/o having to take them into work where I use XP.
PS - I also can't get an output file using Windows Server 2008.

Same issue here, any fix?
I haven't found a solution. After hours of searching and testing, I gave up and just reverted back to XP on a spare comp. I think that kitchens can handle the conversions, but without a manual, I'm not interested enough to tinker for yet more hours to figure it out myself.
Until someone actually posts that NBHUtil.exe works for them on Vista, I'll assume it doesn't.
Same exact issue here. I noticed I wasn't getting an output on Windows 7. I tried elevated permissions, admin rights, and compatibility mode. No dice.
