I've cooked my first Rom using Alex's tutorial but upon installing it, both times the device tries to auto-reboot, it fails, just stopping at a blank screen. I can reset my phone and it continues just fine. I did a quick search but don't see anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Sorry, misread the first time and answered a completely different question....
Which base ROM are you using? Some of the 6.1 ROM's don't auto reset after customisation, or is it stopping at some other point?

Could be radio related. Had the problem once
It's based on Alex.v5.WM61.HTC.3.03. I was following his tutorial though I did change the apps that are added. It died twice. Once after the initial setup when it wanted to reboot, and once after install my provider settings.
Another question I have is how do I get Ervius Package Creator to remember which packages I've added to a rom? I tried exporting the rom I just cooked but it didn't seem to help.

3.03 is *KNOWN* to have the soft-reboot freezing problem. I have not corrected any problems that were inherent to the ROM when releasing them as ROM folders.

this has been going on for a few months now, when i try to shut the phone down completely it just reboots itself. the only way to get it to turn completely off is by pulling the battery and leaving it out. as soon as i put the battery back in the phone it autoboots up. at first i thought this was a CM7 issue but in the past 2 days ive tested leedroids rom, honeysenceHD, and a few others and the phone still acts the same. its never been an issue but i would love to be able to turn the phone completely off if i ever needed to. someone suggested that its possible my bootloader is corrupted. is there any way to fix this issue?
This is a problem with the Advanced Power Manger, search for the fix.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
ok well can someone point me in the direction to fix this problem.....search finds NOTHING for a fix
what apps do you have installed can you list them? They can sometimes cause problems...
Make sure "Fast boot" is UNchecked under Settings, Power.
i dont see a POWER sub menu in settings nor can i find Fast Boot.
apps are as follows
everything that comes stock with CM7
Battery Calibrator
Beautiful Widgets
COveroid
Dev Tools
DSPManager
FasterFix
Linpack
Quickboot- just to see if it would turn the phone off and it doesnt
setCPU but not using it currently
Spare Parts
thats about it a few of those apps i think are part of CM7 but im not sure
Look for fastboot in settings, applications.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
theres nothing in applications that allows me to turn on or off FASTBOOT
ok so i was told theres no FASTBOOT option in CM7 so anyone else out there have any clue as to why my phone will not turn off and stay turned off when i power it down?

Well at this point, if you think that continuing to try other roms other than what you've already flashed won't help, you might just try flashing a completely stock image, with the stock hboot/recovery, etc., and see if indeed something went haywire with your bootloader, as you mentioned someone had suggested to you.
Try the RUU in the stickied thread, for example. The recent OTA ROM by Attn1 has the hboot removed from it so I don't think that would be a good choice for this attempt, because you want to get the stock bootloader back.
Now, I can't speak to the validity of that suggestion about the possible corrupt bootloader... I don't know either way whether or not that could be the cause, but if you wanted to at least try it, then my suggestion above would be the way to do it, I would think.
There would be no reason for it to continue to behave like this on a completely stock ROM, other than there being something defective with the phone itself.
It's a clockworkmod issue with daylight savings time. Change your date from automatic to a date before the time change (I just go to Jan) and your phone will shut off and stay off.
"Change your date from automatic to a date before the time change (I just go to Jan) and your phone will shut off and stay off. "
i dont really understand what you mean by change it to a date/time before the time change. i turned off the auto time but dont see where your talking about with setting the date change
I wasn't going to try to help cause I didn't like yer tone. You could say please and thank you for peeps time..

I just linked a guy with the same issue .. Yes its on another rom, but its the same issue....
Download the app....does it work? Problem solved if it does? Or don't.. i could not care less, my phone works normally......
it was a rom issue but guess u didnt read the thread to see that, that app is just another way to reboot your phone, i appreciate the effort but ive tried it many times and it boots/reboots the phone in the same manor the phone boots itself

so yeah you had a good point scott. i went ahead and got the phone all back to stock and problem solved, but its not what i want sadly. so i re-rooted the phone and immediately after the re-root i went to turn it off and there it goes again turning itself back on =(

So you have re-flashed to stock and the issue went away.
What rom are you flashing after root?
Did you check the MD5sum of the rom?
Have you tried a second rom?
Try just flashing to a stock rom like TCP;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982963
Edit, just read yer above post... None this is going to help. Lol
i havent tried flashing anything, i flashed it back to stock, rebooted worked fine. So i decided to just reroot it. its stil STOCK atm just rooted. its obvious that its a software issue id just love to know what and how to fix it.
When you're flashing to a new rom are you clearing all of your data every time? If not you might want to give it a shot when you try to flash to another rom.
I am new to xda. I haven't ran into a problem yet that i couldnt find a solution to....UNTIL NOW!!!
I have an incredible 2. It is rooted, and DID have a cm7 OS. Today, differentPps on my pho.e kept opening and then being foreclosed. Naturally, I rebooted my phone to see if that would fix the foreclosing problem. However, THE REBOOT MADE PROBLEMS WORSE. Now, my phone shows "no service." It shows "unknown baseband," "unknown phone number" and won't receive/send texts/calls. I can only use WiFi to use the internet. I tried factory reset, (through cm7 and the phone itself) I also tried downloading a new radio and cm9. Help NEEDED ASAP!!!! WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?!!

Yes, I've tried a couple times.
Try
Try hard resetting, which means clearing all data, and wiping cache (if it is that bad)
or
Try doing some of the previous steps again....
Hope It helps
I have same type of problem but after trying these instructions, I found the solution of the problem. Simply try them step by step and you will get results.

Tried hard resetting, wiping dalvik cache and cache partition. Still nothing.
However, slight change- after setting it back to stock, switched it over to cm7.2. Now, I have the roaming indicator flashing, but still cannot make calls or send texts. Before, while trying a new Tom, it would bring me to the same point, ^ but when I would select regular reboot, it would put me back with "no service."
It may happens.
Restart your phone and try then.

What instructions are you referring to? And I've tried, the most simple and generally harmless to extreme wiping and resetting everything I had. Let's say I'm just fit to be tied. This is a nightmare!!!

It happened to my sim card..no idea why..I was flashing different rooms and modems but finally swapped sim just to test ( I didn't really think that sim would be the culprit) but it worked on different..no idea as to why sim stopped working.

Posted this in the CM10 dev thread, but decided I may get some better help by posting here, and here's my OP from the thread:
so yesterday my phone randomly shut off and it seemed to completely reset my phone. It booted up fine with two or three apps missing and all of my settings lost. I didn't think much of it until today when I tried to fix it. I did a fully wipe because some apps had disappeared and wouldn't download from the play store and wouldn't restore from TiBu. I went ahead and did the full wipe, flashed latest gapps and my device started up. I began trying to restore my apps and what not, but at I was navigating the phone my app switch soft key and home key would not function. They vibrate when pressed but don't do anything; only the back key works. I went to settings and remapped the soft keys to see if it was just a glitch and nothing changed. Still no function, only vibration. I then rebooted to recovery and did yet another full wipe and this time tried to install aokp just to see if it was a bug with cm (yes I know aokp i built from cm but I had just downloaded the latest nightly to my phone and deleted the old one so this was a test of the new nightly). Still no cheese. I was then thinking to myself, screw it and at least try to restore some apps, but after configuring my google account and opening he play store i get a constant no connection, retry button. Most of the stock apps will not even open. I flashed a TiBu.zip to restore the app and great, that worked but restoring from in TiBu doesn't work now. I tried reflashing cm and essentially repeated the above steps without any luck. Any ideas? I can't test my data/phone connection other than the fact that after setting up my google account, my email synced and I was able to make a call because the browser won't even open. MY [email protected]$s didn't do a nandroid either
Help a desperate guy in need, please!!
PS redownloading cm and gapps right now on my computer in case of a corrupted download, but to have the issue on cm and aokp is suspicious. I'll have to wait for an hour or two because my internet speed is that slow...

Now I redownloaded CM10 fresh from the get.cm page and even did a md5 check and everything matched up, yet still no luck. another strange thing I've noticed is that my power menu, when I verified in the setting that all options for my power menu were selected, the only options that show up are power off, reboot and screenshot. I checked to be sure app permissions were correct and even fixed permissions from recovery. All apps that do open force close upon any activity, for example upon receiving an email in gmail, the gmail app force closes. I don't know if providing a logcat would be beneficial to anyone because I don't know how to read them.
I am currently waiting on a sense rom to finish downloading to verify that it isn't just aosp based roms, but my internet connection is terrible so the 600+mb file still has 2+hrs left. I am also downloading an ruu if nothing else works, but again with a 500+mb file it will take 2+hrs
Any help is much appreciated and I can provide more info if needed.
SOLVED
Sounds like it might be a kernel issue. Try flashing a different one.
If nothing else works, relock and RUU.

Hello guys,
I unlocked my phone using the following guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233513
Unlocking was successful. I did a few calls to make sure everything was ok and proceeded to install a custom rom. I tried Jelly bam first. Everything installed right and booted the phone ok. At the setup page it asks me the language as usual, but when I click start the phone says to wait and then it crashes and reboots. I tried another JB rom and did the same thing. I does the same thing with simcard or without.
Any ideas? I am going to try an ICS rom.
This is my first HTC phone. I've always worked on Samsungs
Edit:
Ooops I think I forgot to upgrade firmware. Let's see if that fixes it.
Thanks in advance

Please post your "exact" steps you took to install MOAR 6.0. I can tell you one thing, don't even think of doing a dirty install. Also, per @rompnit's install instructions, if you have problems, you'll need to install the full tarball. When installed properly, this rom is as smooth as a baby's behind :silly:

Believe me I've been through hell and back with this thing.
Installed full tar, recovery, flashed clean install of rom. I've done this so many times so many different ways because I kept having a reboot for activation pop up. Until I found a way to stop that.
I'm now running clean install for like the 20th time flashing.
Everything was just working fine after freezing itson service to stop the annoying activation pop up.
And now I can't make or recieve calls. Because it just closes.
The only call I can make is to voicemail
I'll be updating the user guide over the next few days, already have two sections done. If anyone has any links that successfully work with MOAR 6.0 (i.e. Lollipop) please PM me with them so I can post them towards the top. And as always, feel free to let me know if there's something missing from the FAQ that could be helpful to other members. Let the fun begin..........

After you install the full tar (this one), did you let it boot up and actually log into your account before then powering down your phone and go into download mode manually? Then odin your recovery of choice, reboot directly into recovery and flash MOAR? Android 5.0 can be very temperamental, but once it's up and running, it's very stable.
