Hi all
I have a company and want an application to install on my phone (HTC S730 WM6 smartphone) that will allow me to send an sms message but specify a name rather than a number so the receiver does not see the message been sent from a number but rather a company name.
I had an application like this several years ago (think it was called planus) but the company closed down a few years back and I have not needed it however now i do.
I've looked through the site and seen sites like voipbuster, voipstunt etc. is there any application that will let me specify the sender name.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Hi all!
I was` just wondering is there any program for WM like the one for symbian phones called Valentine SMS which allowes you to change the number of a sender of a message? For example I send a mesagge from my phone and person receiving will see totally different sender...
I never used that Valentine program but have read a lot on the net about it.
Something that works like that website:

Hi
I was wondering if somewhere out there any one has come across with an APP which can read the contents in an SMS and do an action based on the content
For example
Receive a TEXT MESSAGE (SMS) from
Mike <+1234567890>
Content
"Hi Mike my friend Alice is looking for the address of your firm can u send her your business card her number is <+9876543210> and she is waiting for your contact information."
<End of Message>
Commonly available FILTER programs like MAGICALL, etc
Wud normally recognise and reply with a predefined message a specific contact or a list of contact in this case it wud reply to MIKE <+1234567890>
My requirement is to reply to the number contained in the SMS
in this example
ALICE <+9876543210> with a pre defined message.
Any one out there have a similar requirement. Kindly join in and pipe up
Else its me all alone
Any help from any quarter is solicited
Sadly my core strengths are DATABASE management
So i cant really write a program based on WM5 or WM6 or dont know how to or where to start as well.
Regards
Al
It seems that u have been asking this in a lot of threads including mine.
I dont think this is a common requirement.
Besides the logic to code this would also be difficult as there could be many nos besides the actual phone nos to interpret.
I am very busy with my website, callfirewall etc right now.
May be later, I'll give it a shot if many people ask for it.
imho wm5 API could do that. it can search for the message content for particular words and then do something if it finds those words contained in the message.
"imho wm5 API could do that. it can search for the message content for particular words and then do something if it finds those words contained in the message."
but it would require a flag to be set for each msg where the action had already been performed otherwise it would keep doing it over and over
also it's a pretty wack'd security breach if the "protocol" became known and no only from contacts functionality was added
in a nokia handset
in a nokia handset when u press the green dial key while reading an sms it shows the sender number the number inside the sms
basically
i program on VISUAL FOXPRO
if u use a function call val("hi worl 9845098450") it wud return 9845098450.00
i wish i knew how to access i cud do string manipulations fairly easy
send me in the right direction n mebbe i cud get far
rgds
Al
For eg. if the sms is
"Call xyz on +2345566 at 16:30 hrs"
now there r a lot of issues,
1. getting the '+' with the no. there can be problems calling the no without the '+'.
2. it will also interpret '16' and '30' as nos.
The program has to be coded keeping in mind human mentalities of sending such smses.
Thanx for the prompt reply shailesh
The messages i receive are generally in a fixed format and are generated from my e-commerce app and the format is
"Call Mr xyz at 9812354321/08066661234 immed looking for your company, additionally it has a mail addy also [email protected]"
Any help or send me the required direction

hi everybody,
I have started facing a new kind of a problem with windows ROM 6.1 version. in this version when, if in a contact more than one number is saved and a text message is recieved from any number of that contact, nobody can figureout from which among the two numbers it is from!!! for eXample:
If i receive a message from a contact named DAD having three numbers in that contact namely 1. office number,
2. Airtel mobile number,
3. Vodafone Mobile number
then it is impossible to enquire that from which among the three numbers did actually the message came!
Is there any way of removing the CHATBOX type of view of 6.1 version ROM and restoring it to the initial and original type of view? if anybody knows the way, plz reply.
Thanks
yeah im looking to remove that from sms aswell
when i try to find a word in a sms and the filter does not find it
want normal sms view, dnt like wm6.1 sms system.

Treo 650, WM 6.1, ActiveSync with Exchange 2003.
Contacts pulled/queried from Exchange global address list contain a slash separating the area code and the rest of the phone number (e.g. 404/123-4444). When I attempt to call a number with a slash, the dialing sequence halts at the slash, but still tries to make the call (e.g. the phone dials 404 and activates "send").
Before someone states the obvious like try to import as many contacts as possible to my personal contacts and replace the slash, let me say this is not practical. Also, my company predominantly uses Blackberry for its handheld needs and this does not cause issues for those devices, so I cannot ask that the company go in and change the phone number formatting for 50K+ entries. Lastly, I have tried searching xda and the rest of the interweb to no avail - feel free to search-slap me with a valid search link (one that is properly formated url including search string) if you know of one that has relevance to my plight.
I've tried changing regional settings hoping another country setting would "interpret" the slash to no avail so far. Tried other contact software, hoping there would be a setting for controlling "special characters", but nothing yet.
xda-developers, you are my only hope
Thanks in advance!

I'm sure there are services, but those aren't standard text messages. They don't come from your phone number- rather, you send your message to a third party (the service) and their gateway sends it for you.
There are a lot of services that offer it for "free" (usually on a limited trial / adware basis), and a whole lot more that offer it for cheap, bulk rates (e.g. a cent or two a message).
A lot of them are available for Java- you can take your pick by googling "free java text message" or "free text message windows mobile."
I can't recommend any specific one, but note that they won't be text messages coming from your phone- and in some cases, you won't be able to receive replies. Lots of services are one-way or glitchy at best.
Just to let you know:
Betamax Voip services such as the one I am using, Voipdiscount does provide the service you are longing for. The SMS' sender number that shows on the receiver's phone IS your phone number.
There is a condition for this though: when you first register a mobile phone number (you only have to do this once), they automatically call you back and have you entering a code to make sure you are not faking someone else's phone number.
Once they've made sure you are the owner of this phone number, you can keep sending SMS from the internet and they just look like any SMS you've sent from your mobile phone.
Enjoy!
I searched on Google and tried all the websites but none of them shows anything about registration.........and some other sites even said Betamax is a fraud or something....
can u link me the proper page plz?
basically, that GOGII program contacts their systems for the purposes of sending a text message, if you were to get hold of the binary application, you could figure out their SMS server on the internet and then write your own program to send SMS messages - you could do it from a PC, PDA, whatever has internet.
anyone got a jailbroken iPhone handy?
i dont know if there is a wm version of icq, i used to txt ppl with icq all the time! they dont even have to have icq, u just put their # on a contact and use the sms service
most wireless providers have a web form for sms, tho usually restricted to ppl using that carrier and almost always annoying captcha ugh
hope this helps!

Betamax is not a fraud, I've been using their service for 3 years now, I would have noticed!
the proper link in my case is: www.voipdiscount.com but there are pleinty other sites belonging to betamax. Each has different discounts to call different countries. You should check them out and compare to know which one fits your needs best.
