PTT Uninstall - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hello all. I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere...
I have tried the PTT feature on my Tilt and dont like it and have had it removed, but I cannot get rid of the PTT icon in the title bar. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Even if I turn off the PTT it just goes to a solid blue circle but nothing I've tried have I been able to get rid of it.
Thanks.

Flash your phone with a different ROM. I don't recommend this but theoretically if you get a registry editor maybe you can delete the registry for push to talk and then you'd be fine. I"d probably look for a cab to do this. go to google.com and type in Dutty it should give you a link for a website and I may be slightly off but its like dutty lives in eu or something like that. Click on that link and he has a couple of cab files maybe he updated some new ones

Actually all you have to do is kill the PTT service. For a noobie, the easiest way is to DL the trial of the BEST utility S/W called SK Tools from SKKV Software. In that proggie you can kill the service & the assign the button to something useful using the standard button settings in Start\Settings\Buttons.

Add VOIP to Comm Manager (WM6)

Just for reference I am using the Most Beautiful edition rom.
Navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/CommManager
Do these following steps... (without the quotes)
Change "SuppordedFunctions" to 9 (if only at 7, I will show how to add IR as well)
If you DO NOT have IR in your Comm Manager:
Add a new key and name it "7"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "IR"
If you already have IR, then add this to get VOIP:
Add a new key and name it "8"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "VOIP"
There you have it. Now you have 9 settings in the Comm Manager. I do not know exactly what it does yet, just wanted to post my findings. Someone can maybe clean this up a little and add it to the Wiki if they find it helpful.
I just enabled this and it does indeed give you an 'IP Phone' icon, plus if you click the settings there is an IP Phone option. Neither actually do anything except make it beep....
I just put a sniffer on to see if there was a DNS lookup for a SIP server or anything when you click the Icon, there isn't I assume this will be something that is provided with your GSM contract and will be pushed down to the phone via OTA. If you click Phone Options, then services and get the settings for Voice Mail & Test Messages there is an option now for 'Internet Voice Mail', this is greyed out though.
Andy
at least it's possibly one step closer to figuring out how to get it to work... or at least how to turn it on and off when it is working.
I just tested this on the PDAVIET3 WM6 ROM. This brings up the Error message:
Comm Manager only supports 7 Entries. -> does NOT work.
In order to find out what is causing this please let me know where to check the Version of the Comm Manager(already have a dumped pdaviet3 rom on my pc at home.) so I can compare it to the Version you have.
I hope we can get this VOIP Service figured out soon

Look here
On the other thread about the Internet Calling in WM6 thers is a link to the MSDN site. If you dig about on here you can find lots of information regarding this; I thought this was interersting:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb330889.aspx
Unfortunately I don't have a SIP server so all I can do is sniff the network and watch the phone attempt to connect to the SIP server....
Andy
My Comm Manager version is 1.3.2.0
I also have a copy of 1.0.3.0 which I believe is from the 2.25.11 cingular shipped rom.
someone post a screen shot of the voip button please
The one in the linked thread now comes up with 8 functions at most. Has anyone got a rip of the Most Beautiful one?
I do.. here you go
Also working on getting a screen cap of the button.
Hmm that file isn't working for me, the 7 button that was integrated into Orwells worked with 7 max, the 8 button from the linked thread worked with 8 but that one just refuses to run, I'm on the clean WM6 ROM.
I made this cab with trojan9x's attachment and it worked for me
Here is the screenshot
Still no dice, I think a dll or something is needed for the Orwell ROM. Thanks anyway guys.
Here's how mine looks.

Cab-file works for me @ WM6 MB-edition (thnx guys). But unfortunately when I click on settings>ip phone, nothing happens..
good one..
maybe someday we'll have x10 or more buttons to come..
hehe..
Great Find Trojan9x. It pushes us one more step closer to understanding the "Internet Calling" Feature.
@ TROJAN9x:
I tried adding these Registry settings on my HERMES with WM6 and it says that only 7 is supported. Do you have ny clue about HERMES and it's limitations or do you think there might be another setting for this?
But it works fine on my Wzards.

Enabling PTT Funtionality in WM 6.1 ROMS

I knw this maybe a VERY stupid question but can the PTT application and button be reenabled under any of the cooked rom's. I have done much Googling (MUCH) and except for CHANGEING THE PTT Key MAPPING and can't find any info or .cab file for enabling that function. Thanks all. Very long time reader but not poster since I like to figure stuff out on my own IF possible (lol)!
I tried this in general forum with no response. PTT works in 6.0 but it seems like all 6.1 ROM's have it disabled? Am I correct?
Simply, I need to use the PTT functionality but would like to use it combined with using 6.1 ROM's if i can...
I've been looking for the same thing for a while yet. Seems like the only way to get it is to wait for an official ATT 6.1 ROM. I have hope for the new one that came out but haven't flashed yet.
PTT is not in most roms, not just disabled. Kyphur was working on a cab for PTT a while back, but he stopped because of the lack of PTT users that were available to test.

Not a lot of interest in PTT
I would agree that most people do not need or want PTT, but there are a few of us that do, and I can confirm that the new ATT 6.1 test ROM does, in fact, include PTT so there is finally an option for those few of us.

Thanks all for your fast responses. I am also one of the few to utilize PTT for personal and work. I also just in the last 5 min also confirmed that the 6.1 Test AT&T Beta does have PTT and does function good. But to be able to install a cab so we can utilize it in all kaiser rom's would be great. Will keep on reading and checking and posting more!!! Its a good feeling to not feel alone in this kaiser universe lol...

I too would like to utilize PTT feature I am installing the ATT Test Rom now and will see how everything works.
you can only use the ptt function in att based roms. no one has hacked the ppt function to be used in non-att roms.
edit:
@ Laurentius26
PTT=push to talk, basically a walkie talkie like funtionality
Aha... that sounds cool!
I will look into this soon as I finished my ROM.

Try this cab and let me know if it works. It should assing PTT to the PTT button.
why do some post "suggested" that this is free ??? ( just install & use/test ...etc ) ... ???
while this post by "mchapman007" with info from the WIKI suggested that it's a subscription based service ??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381104
I tend to believe it's a subscription service ... because if it were free, the phone company could be losing some money ...
and how do you initiate a conversation ??? ( privacy ?? ) ... or does one talk and evryone within range can listen in like walkie talkie ??
here in Canada, we have "TELUS/MIKE's network" ... they have their own phone type and service specifically for that purpose, gears towards business/industrial ...etc
UnicornKaz, PTT is definitely not free. Push to Talk is a service that AT&T provides for around $10 a month. Official Tilt roms have it assigned to 40C6 or the PTT button. I personally don't use it, but I think it's a lot like Nextel/Sprint's walkie talkie service.
I think because it's an AT&T only service and not many people use it, no chef puts it in their custom roms. I haven't seen to much demand for it.
By the way, anyone try my cab? Does it work? I see 2 downloads so far...how about some feedback.
It would be cool to have a kind of VOIP walky talkie.
My girlfriend and I are having both a Kaiser

A little something from AT&T;

Not sure if I'm understanding you right, but if you already had PTT why did you install my cab? The cab installs correctly (make sure you reboot after install) and runs the program (you will get a prompt warning you that you will be charged). Just don't know if you can communicate through it (any results? anyone?).
thx

Google Maps Tab

Anyone know of a way to get the Google Maps search tab back into TF3D (like the Manila2D tab from the Tilt)? Thanks
im wondering the same thing
i flashed romeos its not there either
MAPS TAB
I have been asking for a MAPS SEARCH TAB on Touchflow for weeks.
wouldn't be that hard to just jabe a tab and google maps to work... use a tab you don't like or don't use, change the two icons for it, in the manila for the tabs, change the link to externallink "googlemaps.lnk" and itll run google maps, but if you want it in tf3d... i can't help lol sorry

I was just reading the Wiki page. Under tips it shows a file to add tabs. Not sure if it can be done through the file but you may want to look there. I am looking to remove the AT&T tab...
Why not remap the PTT button...
I use the long press PTT button to get into Google Maps. There are links all over hte place on how to do it. Works great.

There never was a Google Maps tab in TF3D, so you can't "get it back" and currently nobody has created a workaround. So unless someone decides to take the task upon themselves to create a way to do it, then you're out of luck for now.
I seem to recall a Google Maps tab on one of early Manilla ROMS for the Kaiser. The tab had a input box to search for an address or business.
Why Not Use The Soft Key?
Since no one was able to fix you up as you wished, how about the option of allocating the right soft key in the home screen to Google Maps?
This can be done using DiamonTweak, section 14 of that useful app.
Good luck.
Thanks...I guess the answer is I can create a shortcut but I can't get the old Manila2D page unless someone writes it.
So, I can map it to PTT, long press of Phone or the home soft key but I'll probably either keep it on the programs tab or add it to the internet tab to launch gmaps (following these instructions: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=657).
My long and short press PTT's are already taken up, so it would be a huge help if someone could make this happen. I've seen others with custom tabs on the touch flo 3d, so I know its possible, I guess no one has got around to putting it together just yet.
From what I understand you'd have to cook it into the rom, I have no knowledge of this yet but give it some time.
Generalizing, I really thought it be sweet to add as many tabs to tf3d as you please, once my roommate returns from japan we may have to undertake this challenge.
if its possible...

Can someone please post NaviService.dll from a European HD2?

I've found that this dll controls the default navigation software in apps such as Navipanel and Footprints. On my Tmobile USA HD2, Telenav is provisioned as the default navigation software, but I would like to use Copilot instead. I've managed to hack a way to start Copilot but the commands in navipanel and such are hard coded to Telenav. I believe that the dll from any HD2 that has Copilot preinstalled will fix this. Thanks.
Adam
I am trying to do the same thing. I tried installing the cab found in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=639964&highlight=navipanel with no luck. It's still pointing at telenav.
I think I've found out what we actually need. can someone upload \windows\alksdk.dll from a European HD2.
then set up the following registry value
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\NaviSW
"SDKModule"="\windows\alksdk.dll"

Hello,
here you go. Hope it helps !
Thanks, things are progressing on this. All of the buttons are enabled now and they open copilot. but they all open copilot to the map screen instead of opening to the appropriate feature. I'm going to keep working on this but if anyone has ideas let me know.
Thanks for the heads up. I too got mine to the point where CoPilot starts up but doesn't do anything specific. I think that we should look into the registry settings on a stock Euro HD2 and compare it to the ones on our TMOUS HD2's because that might be all thats keeping CoPilot from receiving the specific commands. But I don't exactly know how to do that. Is there such thing as a registry dump?
Adam
I use mobile registry editor v1.1 to look through the registry on the device but there are many programs built to do that. PHM Registry editor has an option to dump to .reg files.
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/S...try/PHM-Registry-Editor-Pocket-PC-20041.shtml
If someone can get us the dump of a stock european rom's registry we can see what's different. Otherwise I can flash over to one and dump it.
So as I understand it we are going to need some help here. because the T-Mobile USA phones can not flash to a european stock rom.

Is there a reason why you give download links for the apps as opposed to going to the official download sites for the apps? Is there a difference?
Thanks for the instructions, I have installed this on my HD2 with the latest stock HTC ROM.
I have followed them to the letter, but I cannot get the final setup to work.
It prompts you to click the Vlingo button and say "Search cinema tickets"
I long press the send key but nothing happens . I have checked the processes that are running after I have pressed the button and I can see:
vlManager.exe
vlingoVoice.exe
Any ideas?
Thanks

It doesn't work very well at all and its completely messed up all of my hardware buttons.
Do not bother giving it try. Just have to wait for Google to release their voice control solution on WinMo
really annoyed now - prob going to have to do a hard reset >:<
Finally installed and working (sort of) on the HD2
I followed the directions in the first post but could never get the long_press send key to function with the app. It just stopped functioning with voice command. The directions did allow me to assign the Button one which I created by the reg edit. This allowed me to at least get to the point where you push the long send and say "search concert tickets" but the listen notification bubble never appeared. I just clicked on OK to close.
I then made a quick link to Vlingo.lnk in /program files/vlingo. The first time I press the quick link I get the screen again asking me to say "search concert tickets" and I click ok. From that point on the quick link opens up the "Listening window" and the program functions normally. It is set to close with key or silence, so it will close after you speak if there is not a lot of back ground sound. Just get it to search for anything and then open menu/home at bottom for help, options etc. Do not set to close with key only as the key does not work.
Messy but it works. Here is a not very good icon if you need one.
UPDATE EDIT: Not working for SMS. It says it sends the text message and it shows in text program as sent, but they never arrive. It will do searchs. Don't waste your time!
Trying to get icon to upload as png but it is getting
changed to a jpg image by the uploader? Sorry!
i am looking for a software i can use on my hd2 that, as im driving, i can dictate some notes and print the text files out later to put in files.
maybe this is not the best?
i am also using voice command on the hd2 so i dont want that messed up.(unless there is a better option).
a couple things that i dont have tweaked (dont know how) is to have the voice command announce phone calls as " john smith from mobile" like it did on my old phone. (it just rings here). Also, would like appointments mentioned rather than just the tone as i used to get.
thanks in advance

I did all of this except I copied every value from the existing key called 40C6
into key 40C1 and modified the string to read "(Long hold Send key)" without quotation marks.
When I started Vlingo it skipped the button setting page and went directly to the voice test (search concert tickets) page.
It works but it will lock-up when I stop using it until I power down and back up.
You will have to forgive me if I type anything like a noob cause I am.
tried everything and am wondering if someone has a piece of advice

does vlmanager.exe need to be running first ? I wonder if someone found a different version of a vlingo cab that works. I am on the elegancia rom and am curious if the people who have managed too get this to work could mention their rom versions. thanks to all.
There is a new WVGA version that came on the new Tilt 2 ROM in Rhodium section. I have been trying to make a cab, but am having issues getting it to connect to the server. If anyone can help me review and modify some of the libraries or dependancies, we can get a new working version made for WVGA devices.
Hey qpr1991, great info. What hd2 do you have - UK or T-mobile? What ROM do you use? Do you know the build-number of your windows 6.5? Do you know what radio you are using? What network are you on? I have to still use my old smartphone because I can't get vlingo to work on htc hd2 yet. I've followed your instructions many times and I am sure they work great, and I am willing to adapt my hd2's configuration to match yours enough to get vlingo working. If you are still around I'd love to hear from you. IF ANYONE GOT THIS TO WORK I'd like to ask you the same questions and maybe we can all cobble together a config that works. Thanks all.
How I finally got Vlingo working on HD2
Pick the Android build of your choice and install it on your HD2, Go to the market and download Vlingo. Works like a charm and you can play Angry Birds in the time you save trying to get it to work in WinMo.
I see Johntheboatcat has a T9193 hd2 - I wonder if qpr1991 also has the T9193? Maybe that's why you guys got it 'mostly working.' I'll look into this, and see why a rhodium and a T9193 would work but not the T8585. I'm still interested in seeing Vlingo work on the hd2. I would love to help with that rhodium cab - I don't know what I could do as far as getting it to connect to the server properly other than regedits or swapping files or .dll's with other cabs to see if that would work. I can also write mortscripts to stitch together partial functionality into something that works. Thanks again.

Hi Johntheboatcat: is that the WinMo Rom you were using when you had partial success with Vlingo? If not, do you know what it was? That's good advice about the Android version of Vlingo. Vlingo is one of the first apps I put on an android build - it is great.
I have the tilt2 with stock rom, vlingo works well, installed plus and still works great. I can say "text ??????" comes up fine, press and hold talk button again, speak my message still works great. but when I click on send nothing happens. I can press and hold talk and say "search for free to air" still works great. just won't send a text message.
