How can I go about removing this app? It's in the core rom it seems (DCS v1.5), and I've deleted the S2U2 key under Software in the registry but it still wants to open when the device starts up.
(It's a nice app if you like that kind of thing, but it makes no sense to slide THEN put in your pin number to unlock the device. )

Not such a smart move. When weighing security versus pointless animation, security would be the best option.
Well... then you disable S2U2 at startup, it's easy if you read a little!

Okay okay, so I'm stupid/lazy. Found out! ;-)
Probably stupid for going straight to registry without thinking about other options.
Thanks all the same, sarcy sods. hehe.

I thought I could do something like "cdial.exe 1234567890" but that doesn't dial the number.
I would love to know this too. Anybody? I am beginning to think it cannot be done via shortcut because I have been searching for a few hours for an answer.

Bummer. That's what I want, but it doesn't work with WM5.
From the official site:
WM2003 and WM5 phones compatible.
These tools are used with the PocketPC Phone Edition to make an SMS, Email or call from the command line.
This software is a replacement for my old tools, VJSMS and VJDialer.
This replacement is hopefully now Windows Mobile 2005 compatible. This new release features...

No, it seems to be just a .CAB file with extensions like .001, .002, etc.

No, but I got the MyFav thing in WM6 to work, so that basically gets at what I wanted to do: push a button to dial somebody.
why don't you use speed dial?
Yeah, that's what I was going to say. It's so much easier just to use Speed Dial.

Right, with speed dial, i have to remember things. I wanted a little button on my home screen that i could navigate too, press, to dial, like it was on the Treo.
MyFav does this for me now.
WM's phone book and speed dial both suck. This is how I do my own phonebook/speeddial, very easy, simple, convenient and universally accessible (locally or online).
Create an empty txt file and rename it to MyNumbers.htm. Add lines like this for each #:
<a href=wtai://wp/mc;123-456-7890>My Home Phone</a>
<a href=wtai://wp/mc;#737pppp1pp1234567890#pppp1p3>My Account Balance</a>
The first line is self-explained; the second line show how to check my account balance (PagePlus prepaid) by inserting automatic pauses and pin presses. This is obviously ideal for calling card dialing. wtai means wireless telephony application interface, supported by most phones. wp means public library is used and mc means make call function in that library. Another useful function is ap (add speed dial), which prompts you to add a # into your phonebook. More details here:
http://support.avaya.com/elmodocs2/avayaip/46xx/WTAI_Tags_Sample_Code_ver25.pdf
When you click on this file or its shortcut, your default browser will open this page and then you can click-n-dial. Of course you can place this page on your website, then you can use it with any your handhelds. I attached a sample here (rename it to .htm). If you have a ASP web server, you can use my XinNotes for phonebook/speeddial and any notes:
http://www.fixup.net/download/xinnotes.zip
<a href tel:1234567890>1234567890</a> is all you need
You might want to try callface, you can edit the calface.html and callface.html as you like.

Lo all, great phone this, I really like it.
One thing that bothers me though:
When using a listing like the WMphonebook, when I scroll down and select an entry and accidentally press the one next to it and then press "return" I'm at the top of the PB-list again. Meh.
Anyone know a tweak or program to make it remember the last position in a long listing? Both Phonebook and filelistings would be useful f ex.
Also has anyone got a way to Cut/paste w/out an extra program or do i need a separate program for that? Try f ex copying a phonenumber from Contacts list and try pasting it into another application.
Cheers beforehand,
Paul

i do this by switching to WinMobile standard keybord and Ctrl+X, C, V
Cheers, how can I switch to the standard windows keyboard? Only got the numbers and the Qwerty ones?
After looking alot around the net I found Fingerkeyboard which gives a nice layout keyboard and Cut/paste-functionality wherever there is a SIP.
Can recommend it.

Somehow I can't seem to find the Question mark on iot though.
Still It can be fixed.
Anyone found a solution to returning to the same spot in listings?
Bump anyone?

Hi jonas, can you please describe exactly the steps you do that doesn't work? Because I tested several times here on mine and cannot get this case. Note that "SaveSettings" will be called whenever you close the application (pressing "X" but holding pressed for a short while) or exit from the main menu. Is not called if you smart minimize it (if you just press "X", and the app is still running in the background). Hope this helps you.

Thank you jonas ...
I understand now your scenario. I really think that windows mobile doesn't do a "clean closing" of the applications, otherwise the application would have call ed internally "SaveSettings"...
In any case, I will investigate this and will fix it in the next version.
Good!
I will test it!

It works ! You must as you say, close the app once to save config., not just start it upp and close your phone.
Anyway there may be a version that works with Omnia?
yes please....
Is this possible...res is 240*400. I have been looking for something like this for a while.
With Titanium, this kind of app makes very good sense.
Hello guys... those with omnia phones...
I can adjust WPChanger application for Omnia, but I need more information since I don't have such a mobile. What I need first is to detect the registry key and value of the wallpaper.
Can you do that for me? Thank you.

For example... HTC registry key and value are: "Software\HTC\Manila", ;"HomeBackgroundPath". Of course this is the place where the pre-installed TouchFlo3D application on HTC keeps the wallpaper settings.
Try to find it out for Omnia and drop me a line here... Thank you.
well its for just the main today screen...i know that thru that reg it will modify that.
but not everybody runnning Manila (i do ).
Didnt realise that you did this thru Manila, i assumed it would be thru windows. Can you not make it so? i tried to look for a today registry with no luck, and a lot of other places. So i am stuck.
If not, i may have to make it, oh and learn how to do it also
Thanks

You can try with one of the programs mentioned above, associated with a mortscript that emulate the keypress or tap needed: than you have to put the script in a notification activated when you need.

If you are able to install mortscript and associate a script to a notification (thing that I cannot made for you "online"), tell me what program you would use, and I can write the script for you.

Looking at the xdashutdown thread I see that you can call it with parameters, so you don't need the script mentioned above!
Simply create a link to xdaShutdown /shutdown, and assign it to a notification (I use memmaid to do this for other purpose)

I'm looking in memmaid yes, dinarsoft), but I can't find how to create a notification for all the day... maybe I remember wrong...
But there is another solution, (maybe better) that I've used in the past: RunEveryday
It's very simple, absolutely NOT graphically nice, but perfect for your needs.

Ok so I was uninstalling stuff from my phone and I ran across 2 things that wont completely uninstall.
One is called "Co0kie's Home Tab"
and
"no2chem nueLED"
and
"Wei Enterprises nueBattery for CDMA..."
When I try to uninstall them it says
"(Program name) was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?"
I click "YES" and it will go away for like 5 seconds, then it's back on my programs list...
Any help? I'm thinkin it's something to do with the registry, like I need to remove entries, but don't know which to remove and hard reset is out of the question as my phone is flashed for Cricket aka MetroPCS.
TIA for any help, suggestions, and/or advice.
This might help

Good luck mate!
I had same problem a little while ago and was to told to dl SKTOOLS and run "clean" and it did the trick, it gets rid of obsolete files and files that are unnecessary. you should also use sktools to uninstall programs as it does teh complete job the first time unlike winmo.
hope that helps.
Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna give both apps a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
