Where do the deleted items go? - HTC Vox

Hi,
i was wondering where the deleted contacts, messages and other files go in Windows Mobile Smarphone.
Do they have a recycle bin similar to desktops?

I guess they go straight to heaven I haven't read about temporary bin or something..

Contacts simply disappear I think , but messages have a Trash folder. On Inbox, press right Softkey, choose "6 Folders", and there choose "Deleted Items"

Hi biktor_gj,
You are right. deleted messages (outlook and text) are stored in there.
Contacts.. and other files from folders ?????

They are removed completely, you *might* be able to find remnants inside the registry, depending on what application you used to delete them with.

[Q] What is PDU_log folder inside SD-card ?

I noticed inside my SDCard a folder named PDU_log. In there are files like sms114.pdu and so over. When i opened one of them with text editor it shows a sms that i sent. Is this a security warning ? Google gave me no answers and i found one thread in hd2 section but nothing was conclusive
Anyone? It bothers me a lot and i also noticed that if you delete the folder reappears again after reboot
What ROM are you running? I looked through everything on my SD card with Root Explorer and I don't have that folder.

I'm running RUU_Pyramid_S_HTC_Europe_2.08.401.1_Radio_11.59.35 04.00U_11.16.3504.16_M, and i can confirm same folder on my SD. All my text messages are in that folder. It look like sms backup. BTW i deleted all my text messages in inbox, but is still have them in PDU_LOG folder. I deleted PDU_LOG folder, after reboot i have him again, this time empty
I'm running InsertCoin 3.4.6 and also have this folder on my SD-Card. The messages are stored in cleartext (with a space between each character) and the files also contain the recipient's phone number.
I would really like to know where this folder and files come from as I don't like my messages being backed up automatically without me setting this up.
pdu_log
Same here, insertcoin 3.4.6, PSU_log reappears after deleting. Sms and mms backup with phone numbers inside. I noticed a strange behavior as well, as I just deleted that folder I instantly saw a download notification in the notification area, pulled it down it was blank and disappeared shortly after... I find that very very strange.
UPDATE:
I just removed my HTC Sense account and the folder has disappeared. Based on this observation I'd say it's syncing with your HTC Sense account, for what reason, I don't know as there are no related options under the HTC account sync settings... Interesting..

[Q] how to empty stock mail trash folder?

Everything is in the title
I'm finding using the tablet extremely pratical, that I'm accessing since a while my mails accounts hrough the stock mail application (imap setup).
Unfortunately deleted mails remain in trash folder, and I found no way to erase them permanently other then selecting them one by one and deleting them.
Not much practical procedure when having >1000 mails to delete
Any way to empty the trash folder with one click?
Thanks
work around found
I accessed the trash folder through imap with a different client, and was able to delete all items with one click.
Stock mail client then re-synchronized trash to empty
Sadly, this feature is not avail in stock mail app

exchange app help

Not sure if this is a known bug or whether there is a setting but when I originally set up my exchange account I accidentally added a favourite folder at the top of the inbox list. So when I open the app I see the 'favourite' folder then 'show 45 more folders' then my emails. I have even deleted that 'favouite' folder from the server but it just replaces that folder with a new 'favourite'. I have been through all the settings I can think of to remove it but this annoying folder just stays there. Even deleting the account and reinstating it again still shows this favourite folder at the top of my inbox.
Can anyone help in what I thought would be a simple removal procedure

How do I delete all device contacts only?

Mom gave me her S7. Synced with Google, all my contacts are in. Now I realize there are still 2000 of HER contacts in the DEVICE storage. Some are automatically linked to MY google contacts.
How can I delete all the device contacts? If I set it to view device contacts only, select all, and delete, it says "all contacts will be deleted from linked accounts" ... doesn't this mean it will also delete the linked Google contacts?
That always trips me up too. What I actually do is make a backup of my Google account contacts. Save them safely somewhere on a computer. Then blow away all the phone contacts. If the Google contacts online are messed up I re-import the saved contacts online, then re-sync with phone. My way may be overkill, but it works for me lol. There may be an easier way.
I think I found an easier way.
1. Go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager
2. Tap More > Show System Apps
3. Scroll down to "Contacts Storage" (NOT "Contacts"), tap it
4. Tap "Storage", Tap "Clear Data"
That will delete all contacts, including Google, but then within minutes Google contacts will get restored via Sync.
Export your contacts from contacts.google.com before deleting anything, I deleted my phone contacts and lost them from gmail too (Luckily made a backup first) - but when you select contacts to be deleted it should only delete the ones you have selected, no others
Personally I would have factory reset the phone when your mom gave you it, before adding your own account
So export from gmail
Delete from phone
If all is well that's all you need to do, if it deletes them all you have your backup to import again
To some extent,Whatever data can be easily deleted from the phone, it's easy to recover on the phone, isn't it ?
As you said , how to delete contacts from Android phone , what is more that how do your make sure these deleted data can not be recovered back any more ?
