I noticed inside my SDCard a folder named PDU_log. In there are files like sms114.pdu and so over. When i opened one of them with text editor it shows a sms that i sent. Is this a security warning ? Google gave me no answers and i found one thread in hd2 section but nothing was conclusive
Anyone? It bothers me a lot and i also noticed that if you delete the folder reappears again after reboot
What ROM are you running? I looked through everything on my SD card with Root Explorer and I don't have that folder.

I'm running RUU_Pyramid_S_HTC_Europe_2.08.401.1_Radio_11.59.35 04.00U_11.16.3504.16_M, and i can confirm same folder on my SD. All my text messages are in that folder. It look like sms backup. BTW i deleted all my text messages in inbox, but is still have them in PDU_LOG folder. I deleted PDU_LOG folder, after reboot i have him again, this time empty
I'm running InsertCoin 3.4.6 and also have this folder on my SD-Card. The messages are stored in cleartext (with a space between each character) and the files also contain the recipient's phone number.
I would really like to know where this folder and files come from as I don't like my messages being backed up automatically without me setting this up.
pdu_log
Same here, insertcoin 3.4.6, PSU_log reappears after deleting. Sms and mms backup with phone numbers inside. I noticed a strange behavior as well, as I just deleted that folder I instantly saw a download notification in the notification area, pulled it down it was blank and disappeared shortly after... I find that very very strange.
UPDATE:
I just removed my HTC Sense account and the folder has disappeared. Based on this observation I'd say it's syncing with your HTC Sense account, for what reason, I don't know as there are no related options under the HTC account sync settings... Interesting..

In searching the forum for a way to backup and restore MMS, I have stumbled upon a method that allowed me to restore MMS on a different device.
This was my starting point, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332508
According to him the MMS has a .dat file that is expanded when you edit or view an MMS. Someone with more knowledge then myself can probably take this to the next step. My process is very time consuming per message.
That being said here is what I did to get this to work.
Performed a backup of MMS using PIMBackupv2.8, no attachments selected to my storage card.
On the new device I restored the MMS. At this point I was in the same boat as everyone else, I have the message showing and a size but opening the messages shows nothing.
I transferred the .dat files from my old device to \My Documents\UAContents\MMS UA on my new device.
On the old device opening a specific MMS expands the 50569.dat and a folder with the picture, contents is created only while the message is open.
On the new device I selected the same message, and checked back in the UAContends folder. An expanded .dat with nothing inside is created.
On the new device a .dat named 3019.dat was created when I opened the message. I renamed the 50569.dat to 3019.dat.
I tried again opening the message, and sure enough the picture and info is back. I closed the message and tried again, still works.
I have been able to restore 56 MMS on my new device using this method.
Hope this helps someone.
Hi guys, sorry for my poor english. I have a problem, i can't send sms or view it. When i click the icon of the sms in the today screen, doesn't appear anithyng. When i select a contact and try to send an sms, doesn't appear anithyng. Help Me Please!
Thanks
Can i delete the sms trough file explorer? Where are the sms in the windows folder?
I had that problem too or at least a similar. I found out that the reason was that the system had created two folders for e-mail attachments. This apparently lead to some confusing on which folder to use and thus the whole thing refused to start.
After deleting both folders everything worked as a charm again The folder then gets recreated next time it needs to store an attachment, so no worries there!
How can i delete this folder if i can't access to outlook/sms window?
weird timing, I just posted the same problem just now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=486297
Snapphane's fix worked for me, or at least it allows me to access the mail part of outlook so far (I have not re- set up the email accounts- it looks like all of my mail has still disappeared).
I went to the storage card with file explorer, and deleted a folder called something like "inbox.msi.233406...", and now all of a sudden I can get into the mail fine.
Thanks snapphane, and lets hope it keeps working!
but i haven't mail, i have only sms and they are in Phone memory...
EDIT: I've solved with your solution!!! VERY THANKS!!!
thanks alot for your solution worked for me fine thanks alot
No such folder
I've the same problem, but there is no such folder
can you give more more information about the how do you solve it ?>
thanks in advance
Hey Guys - I have a huge Problem ...
I was playing around with SKtools and "optimizing" the registry ... I dont know if this has anything to do with it and its the first time i'm posting here for a Problem ..
following problem : in Manila tag "messages" there are no more messages - all my sms are gone and im not able to create new ones ... i also cannot access "messaging" in start menue or settings...
same with mail accounts - cannot see mine nor create or edit a new one ...
can anyone help me please ? is this just a broken link somewhere ? Are my messages still eventually stored anywhere and if yes where ?
i would really appreciate your Help
sorry for my english
It could be registry errors.
Try to restore your backup.
well ... i dont find any option for a backup in sk tools concerning automated optimisation of the registry ..
then hard reset is another option...
next time install a proper backup tools like Sprite Backup & backup regularly
well i know
it seems that outlook is broken - is there a possibility to manually search the files/folders where sms and mail messages are stored ?
As long as your WM not discarded all the corrupted data may be you still can get it.
but I'm not sure b'coz I have never try that before.
yes - thats what i thought .. the data might still be present ...
does anyone know the folder / file where sms and mail messages are normally stored ? also I cant't find the "tmail.exe" in my System - does this have to do anything with it ? Is someone out there who has a little background knowledge ?
I had the same problem. It was fixed by going to the sd card and deleting some folder called ~"Inbox.1234123" or something.
Its some error b/c of having 2 different folders for storing attachments. Deleting that folder fixed it for me. It still pops up every now and then, i go and delete that folder, and all works perfect afterwards...

Brilliant. Had this problem and two of these files (as I'm on a mac I only have my contacts etc backed up, but not my entire system)
Thus removing these two files saved me a lot of pain.
Thanks!

Not sure if this is a known bug or whether there is a setting but when I originally set up my exchange account I accidentally added a favourite folder at the top of the inbox list. So when I open the app I see the 'favourite' folder then 'show 45 more folders' then my emails. I have even deleted that 'favouite' folder from the server but it just replaces that folder with a new 'favourite'. I have been through all the settings I can think of to remove it but this annoying folder just stays there. Even deleting the account and reinstating it again still shows this favourite folder at the top of my inbox.
Can anyone help in what I thought would be a simple removal procedure
