WM6 on Artemis: Phone turns on whenever I receive call or SMS - General Topics

Hi everyone! My Artemis running WM6 turns on eveery time I get a call or SMS. I would like it if it didn't, because sometimes I want my phone tio stay silent, and having it on when I don't know it's on can be a huge drain on battery life. I'm assuming there's a simple option I'm missing. Thanks for your help.

Bump (Is this allowed on this forum?)

This is a bit of an annoyance. I like how you can instantly turn the phone on or off, and I would prefer to have to stop pulling out the battery during the school day and have the phone boot for a minute or so. Is there any way to make sure your phone stays asleep when it's asleep?

Get a profile software. Some are free. Set the connection (phone) to off during the time selected by you and I believe it will stay put, unless you have a service the forces the phone call/sms through regardless.

I have Spb Phone Suite, and I can choose to reject all calls, but I don't think it works with SMS. I also can't seem to get it to automatically activate while the phone is asleep.

I don't know Spb Phone Suite but I believe with any paid application like this or PhoneAlarm you can get a FlightMode that turns everything off for a specified time and a profile to turn things back on. Sorry I cannot be of more help. That's all I know.

Automatic phone turn on

Hi to all, is there a way to switch on the HD2 at a desidered time?
I mean: from the phone totally switched off is there some software or mod that makes it auto-turning on?
So battery life could be extended instead of keeping it turned on during the night only for make the alarm clock ring...
On my nokia it was possible make it to turn on automatically and make the alarm ring, I think it's strange that this cannot be done on the HD2...
Thanks for your answers and sorry for my english, I hope you understood anyway
bye
Try CT Scheduler. However, if anyone else here has any idea about other programs that can do this, let me know.
I'm looking for something that does something like this:
1. Turn on phone every 15 minutes
2. Leave it on for 2 minutes (so that calls/text messages can arrive)
3. Turn off the phone
Repeat.
Try G-Alarm
Not to sure if it have the wake up function.
SKSchema is simply the best.
You can schedule what you want on your PDA and it runs great on HD2.

I think this is technicaly not possible because when the phone is off it is not possible to run software.
If you desire it to consume the lowest possible amout of power you may put the phone into flight mode and ensure no background apps are still running.
Some software such as Galarm will turn the phone into flight mode over night and dissable flight mode in the morning with the alarm.
I use phonealarm,
at night I set my phone to automatically switch to flight mode, so that I receive no calls, messages etc, and it uses virtually no battery power, but the alarm still goes off in the morning, and my phone automatically switches back on

Battery problem on Touch Pro - possible cause

Hi all,
My father bought an HTC Touch Pro some time ago; I think it was in 2008, as he needed a good phone, with the organization capability that WM has to offer.
The phone is in MINT conditions, really. It still has the original screen protector and no scratches can be found on it. He uses it a lot, but always has it in the leather case, and in a small pocket, which sometimes results in lost calls, as no one can really hear it ring . The battery is always fully charged, and after some testing I think it is still in good conditions.
The problem that he started getting is that after I installed some programs like GPS Tomtom and AGEPhone for SIP calling that he never uses (hehe), he started noticing the battery was discharging faster and that it would not last even 1 day, when before it would last about 3-4 days.
I uninstalled the programs, and the problem persists. Brightness is on 50%, wifi and any internet connection is turned off. No programs running in background, unless it's active sync that sometimes turns on itself.
POSSIBLE CAUSE - We noticed is that he has a lot of reminders, so the phone is constantly waking up. The problem is that it does not go to sleep afterwards. The touch screen is locked, so when a reminder pops up, the screen stays turned on, even if the backlight is not on, and just drains the battery completely.
Is there anything we can do, so that it (the reminders of meetings, birthdays and other stuff) would not wake the device up, or if it did, the phone would go to sleep after some seconds, so that it would not overheat and drain the battery in 1 day?
It is a quite annoying having to constantly look at the phone, dismissing reminders and turning the screen off, so the battery can last a bit longer.
I need to solve this problem, but my father will not agree with a custom ROM flash. Maximum I can do with it is upgrade it through the HTC tool, but I am not sure if it is worth it.
Here are the information:
Version de ROM: 1.90.406.5 FRE
Date de ROM: 08/20/08
Version de radio: 1.02.25.19
Version de protocole: 52.33.25.17W
The device was bought in Luxemburg and has a French windows mobile 6.1 on it, and an AZERTY keyboard.
Please help me with this issue.
Get tBattery and check to see the current draw under stead, idle conditions. With the backlight at 5, it should draw about 110 mA (there may be some spiking). Use the log feature, say for 10 min @ a time, with power-save options unchecked so the screen doesn't dim and it doesn't go to sleep. If the drain is high (constantly above 200 mA, let's say), then get a good task manager (hint: new dotfred's 3.3) and start killing processes, and see if that helps. If not, then try stopping some of ther services.
Thanks Farmer Ted for the reply, but I think I found the cause of the problem. I don't know why but after it wakes up, because of an appointment, it will not turn the screen off, even after 10 minutes and I have the power management set 30 sec off if not being used.
As the screen is locked, the appointment will not be dismissed by accident or pressed so it just stays like that, until the battery is dead.
Is there a hidden option to make the phone go back to sleep, or to prevent it from waking up, just making the led blink, as when you get new SMS messages and the screen is off, or when you get a missed call?
If there was I think it would solve the problem completely.
Thank you all for your help.
yes the problem is the screen it drains it faster than a hobo with a bottle of wiskey,
what you have to do it click on batter icon and get into the battery menu select advanced and elect turn back light off if device is not used for and select 10 second, then turn off device if not used for and slected 1 minute (its reffering to the screen)
then i use a program called touch pro tweak (its cooked into all energy roms) and there is a setting to wake up on call or text or notification and disable it by wake up it refers to turing the screen on
I have a simmilar problem.. I discovered what causes it... When I install certian programs, it changes the power settings.. namely, the power off when not plugged in setting... So, check out those settings... I have had this happen 3 or 4 times in as many months... then I notice the same issues with my battery.. after I go change the settigns back (for the 100th time) it goes back to pastign 2-3 days for me... (instead of less than 1)
Hi people, sorry to bring up this topic again, but I see no point in creating a new one.
I would like to ask if any of you would recommend me a good French ROM (as it comes with AZERTY keyboard) for this device that has good battery life?
Is it possible that a cooked WM 6.5 would use less battery then stock WM 6.1?
I have another problem, is there a way to turn up the ringing volume of the phone, in order to hear it even if it is in a small bag? It's already on max, but my father complaints the ringing volume is too low and he can not hear it.
And last but not least, how much does this battery normally last? Wifi off, bluetooth off, calling about 15 min a day, some SMS and a lot of reminders.
It can not go a day, max two days without recharging. It is always turned off when he goes to sleep, because if not, he will wake up with a dead device.

[Q] New app to switch on/off automatically your phone

Hi all.
I would like to know if there is an app to switch on/off your windows phone automatically. I miss it when i changed from Blackberry to WP. For example i often forget to switch off my phone at night so this app would be very useful for me.

I guess it is not a problem to write the aplication witch is able to turn of your phone. But how the hell could aplication turn ON the phone back, if it is tourtned off. For example try to turn on your PC with some kind of application. I guess you get the point.
Of course i get it, even if i'm not a developer. It would be great to have just an auto-switching off app. However, don't know how, blackberry has got it.
I would be really pleased if someone wrote this app to switch off the phone.
thanks again
I actually don't think blackberries turn off completely until the battery is either completely dead or removed. I know when a blackberry is "off" it still has the ability to turn back on when an alarm is going off so I would assume that it just goes into a low power standby state. However, when you turn off Windows Phone, it's off.
This should be posted @ [email protected] section.
I didn't do that because i must write 10 post before writing in that section
Actually, my PC will turn on at a given time, but I don't believe these phones can do the same. Also, if it does turn off at a certain time, you would not be able to have it plugged into a charger. When WP is plugged in, it automatically turns on. I believe that's a hardware design.
Reboot App Perhaps???
I DONT KNOW ABOUT A SHUT DOWN APP BUT HERE IS A REBOOT... PRE-MANGO
If you have pre-Mango (pre-7712+) you can use the attached .xap, its an app that was developed by someone here at the forums... I changed the icon for the start screen but that is all...
For shutdown, just hold the pwr button at this time... sorry... jejeje
I think what he's looking for (as I am) is a version of Phone Alarm or Pocket Phone Zen. They automatically turn things like WIFI, BT, Phone, etc. on or off at preset times. PA can also do that when plugged into a charger so BT will turn on when the phone's in the car holder for hands free. I haven't been able find anything in the Marketplace.
For restart phone on Mango try that app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1333740
I use for shut off/on power button.
In Blackberry when you press the power button off it does not get really turned off. Its in sleep mode which actually just closes the user state but the kernel keeps ticking and thats the reason any app in background hooked to kernel can turn it on which is actually waking it up from sleep.
Moreover in sleep mode everything used to get shut off i.e call it airplane mode. So if somebody can make a WP app which can just turn on and turn off the airplane mode, it should work for you.
Have a look at Phone Alarm for WM 6.x It is able to do so much more. Things I would like to see in an app for WP7 are:
scheduled on/off of WIFI, BT, phone, GPS, data connection.
scheduled sync of email at longer intervals like every 6 hours (WP7 max is 2 -not everyone has a data flatrate.)
Scheduled and location based volume adjustment. (quiet at home, loud in the car, etc.)
BT, GPS auto-on if charging ("Car" profile if charging, see next point)
Profiles that can be changed with one click. (for example "Meeting" profile turns off sound, reduces display brightness, turns off WIFI, turns on BT etc.)
doesn't have to be cost free but does need to be bug free
Cheers

[Q] Simple Tasker Aim - Just cant work it out

This is literally my last hope. I've tried so hard, but ended up having to come here and ask, which I don't mind, just feels like I suck, because I've given up lol
I have Tasker on my one plus one, and its doing great, I have current set ups doing such as:
Turning on and off WIFI when I like the radius
Headphone music app enables with insertion
Auto SMS for Night and Work
But theres one more.... that I just cant get my freaking head around......
I want Tasker to turn off my Auto-sync and Mobile Data when I turn the screen off, after a 5min wait period.
And then for it to re enable, for 5mins every 1 hour, whenever the screen is off, forever.
And to re enable Mobile data and Auto sync when I turn the screen on.
I am very close to it, but I just cant put everything in the right place to get it to work, although.... saying that, ive never got the Data to turn off in general via a task, so I'm probably screwing most of it up.
I hope someone can help,
Thank you for reading
Alex
Bump.
Could you Export your profile and send it to me? I'll have a look at it.

What is Sleep Standby-Optimization? Is this killing Wifi?

It says it kills the network connection when I am asleep? I don´t sleep at regular hours and how would my phone even know when I sleep? I missed two messenger calls from my mother today, she is in the hospital and it´s freaking important I take those. They were both forward pushed as missed calls when I opened the phone. I have checked every single setting including battery optimization and notifications, everything is turned on/off as needed.
This is just bizar.
PS: But I actually don´t know if it´s why I am missing those calls. Seen people having problems with Whatsapp, probably the same thing going on.
I feel sleep standby is the issue. Since I had the oneplus 6 I had that option off since, I was not sure if it turns off wifi.
