ActiveSync Exchange Policy Causing Hard Reset? - General Topics

I'm wondering if you very smart folks can help me out. I had to hard reset my phone three times today!
On Friday, I established a relationship on my touch dual with my work's exchange server for me to sync wirelessly to work for emails, tasks, calendar, etc. In order to do this, exchange forces a policy onto my phone to enforce password on the device (at least every 15 min).
What I found today is that the phone will freeze on the password screen and nothing will unfreeze it. A soft reset sometimes prompted me to see if i wanted to boot in safe mode but it never responded when i tried to do it.
It SEEMED to happen when I was connected to my laptop via USB when the phone tried to sync with the exchange server at work. I wonder if the Vista's WM device center was interfering with the wireless ActiveSync sync with exchange??
Very frustrating and if anyone can tell me how to avoid this, I would appreciate it. Has anyone else encountered this?

Treo Auto-Connecting to the Internet

Does anyone else have a problem with the Treo auto-connecting to the net? I have no other third party programs installed. Is there a fix?
you might want to check Inbox and Activesync.
Yes, I have already checked both the Inbox and Activesync. This happens even when I don't set up my email nor my exchange push. The Treo will just function regularly, and then all of the sudden, it continually tries to connect to the net. Even after a soft reset, it will boot up trying to get an internet connection.
how about the fake server trick for AS?
I think I've isolated this to either the beta installation of Windows Live or Pocket MSN
they just released the final version of Live a couple days back:
http://wls.live.com
good luck and FIGHT ON!
It could very well be Windows Live Messenger trying to sync your email/contacts. Check the sync settings in WLM.
Did you manage to find the problem?
I have similar problem that each time a do a syhc to my pc, somehow my email will auto sync wirelessly (3G) even though I have not set it to sync

Activesync acting up - Guest account only

For some reason this problem keeps coming back..
When I go to Activesync on my 750 it shows a different screen that says "To sync with a desktop computer, install ActiveSync on your computer and then connect this device."
When I plug in via USB or to go Menu/Connect via Bluetooth it starts to connect (open ports, establish connection, etc) but the desktop pops up a warning that says "Synchronization cannot be completed successfully..."
This appears AFTER I have already synced the device once or twice and the profile already exists on my desktop.
This happens regardless of syncing with bluetooth (which used to work) or with USB (which also used to work).
I reinstalled ActiveSync 4.5 on the desktop. The original profile was wiped away, and I was able to sync with the device again.
Now the problem came back..!
Any idea what this is? It seems like a device issue because I can never get to that normal "spinning arrows" screen on the device, only this warning screen.
Your help is appreciated!
- soft reset, no help
- reinstall activesync on desktop, no help
ok got it... deleted the profile on the desktop (disconnect device, on desktop go to File/Delete Mobile Device)... soft reset device... reconnect device to desktop...
how do i delete the profile from the device, i think that is corrupt? keeps doing the same thing.
Can you try to go to settings/connections/USBtoPC & disable advanced network functionality?
"synchronization could not be completed"
sorry, wrong thread, can't seem to remove
Update: Okay so I know how to fix the problem (delete profile from desktop, soft reset device, connect via USB)... but the problem keeps coming back.
It seems like the profile keeps getting "lost" on the Treo because that screen that I mentioned (without the spinning arrows) keeps coming back and it should only appear when there are no profiles on the device.. am I right?
Also seems like I am the only one experiencing this issue, I guess.
not the only one ive been trying for days to fix this issue and now my phone hard reset itself and wiped all my contacts/appointments etc. hmmm....... did you have a happy ending?
ActiveSync is not finding my profile?
"I know that this is an old thread" and I am bumping it anyway.
I am now having the same issue a HTC touch pro.
I cannot seem to find an actual solution to this problem, having to delete my profile every two days is not what I would call "a solution".
I cannot seem to find anyone that can help me on this issue, nor can I find the thread is it seemed to address this with a solution - only more questions.
If anyone could help me out here it would be much appreciated, thank you.
my symptoms:
contacts, appointments, notes and tasks are all missing from my phone.
Upon connecting ActiveSync, computer and phone both believe that synchronisation has occurred perfectly. In hindsight I am wondering if it has got something to do with the phone creating a new, blank profile in synchronising with that?
We in you try to change the settings so that it will synchronise them again, all of those checkboxes are locked so that they cannot be selected, almost like you are in the wrong profile and outlook is preventing you from syncing with a profile.
The only "solution" that I have discovered to this thus far is to delete all of my Outlook profiles, and then begin from scratch again

Freezes while syncing

Whenever i cradle my device and start to sync, when its "looking for changes" - it freezes.
It still syncs, but i can't do anything while it does.
It happens everytime i configure my exchange account, and usually when i cradle my device. Does not happen when i sync with exchange only with a GPRS connection, or when i cradle my device without the exchange server configured.
It must mean the combination of the two is causing this freeze.
It happens on every rom i tried, including wm5.
Lately it got even worse, so i decided to treat this problem once and for all...
Could it be that maybe some item is screwing up the sync?
I have only 260 contacts, and 20 appointments (13 recurring - for birthdays...).
Does anyone have an idea how i could trace this problem?

Changing Activesync port

Hi all,
I'm trying to set up Activesync to connect OTA to my company's exchange server so I can get my mail pushed to me.
I got the connection deets from IT, but they included a non-standard port, 8993, as part of the URI. I thought, no biggie, I'll just stick them into Activesyc, MS's well-established Exchange connectivity bridge.
But no luck. It sits there for ages then times out. I can access this URI fine from my PC. I can rule out the ISP (O2) as I can access it via telnet from the device. Which leaves Activesync itself. This is backed up by the occasional comment on obscure web posts.
Does anyone know how I can set Activesync to use a non-standard port for its Exchange connections? I don't mind going into the reg but I imagine there must be an easier way to do this. Lots of businesses with draconian IT policies must have this problem?
Kinda important as I just ordered a Touch Pro, and I'll have to cancel that posthaste if I can't get Exchange syncing going on..
thanks!

Exchange Push Email when ActiveSync is not an option

I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for what I can install on my Tilt to allow me to connect to Exchange. Unfortunately, my company uses BES, and therefore can't be bothered to make the little changes necessary to the Exchange server to support ActiveSync. They just say, "Get a Blackberry", but won't expense the cost of getting one. I installed the Blackberry Connect on the Tilt for awhile, but it's so inconsistent that it's virtually unusable. Any time a data connection is requested for anything other than Blackberry, it disconnects Blackberry, forcing me to close every data connection, then restart Blackberry Connect. It's insane.
I've done a bit of research, but everything that comes up stupidly seems to require connecting the phone to a computer, or leaving the computer on and having a service running while I'm away. Neither of those are workable options for me, since when I'm on the road, I probably won't have my laptop on, otherwise I wouldn't need my smartphone at all.
So in the absence of those options, is there any other way at all to connect to Exchange? It doesn't have to be Push, but I don't want more than about 15 minutes of lag time.
Any ideas?
If you have OWA access to your Excahnge server then Seven beta may fit your bill.
I do have OWA access. I'll try it out, thanks!
