Piece of S*#% -or- Issues with Hotsync Jack and Mic - Palm Treo 750

To anyone who knows of such things:
#1- My hotsync port chose to remove itself from the phone proper. I had the phone hooked up to my computer, went to remove the USB cable and as I did the port came out of the phone still attached to the cable. Is there anything I can do about this as AT&T as well as Palm say it is not under the usual warranty?
#2- My mic stopped working this morning. I can hear the fellows at the other end but cannot be heard by said fellows. If I plug in the wonderfully annoying earbud/mic it is as if nothing is amiss. I would prefer to avoid having to constantly be using this method to speak with people.
I have done a hard reset which was to no avail.
Any help with these issues would be much appreciated. Indeed.

Wizard giving shock

Hello Freinds,
I dont know whats going wrong, but whenever i connect my wizard with usb it emits electric current, i checked the usb with other phone and everything is fine.
Seems like some problem with my wizard.
Anybody know wats wrong??
Probably non Wizard Cable
I have the same issue.
I'm not using a wizard cradle but a mere Motorola V3 cable.
It seems now the MiniUSB is a standard around now.
But it seems the MiniUSB cradle that is coming with the wizard or same cables do not have this issue.
Aldo
Same here, i'm not able to have a call while i have the phone connected with USB or charging. I don't know why but it gives shocks...
Hmm...
About the calls but was active sync connected when you couldn't get a call
please give us the radio ROMnumber and OS also
Aldo
Ive had that problem also and i dunno about anyone else but i simply took out the power cord and plugged it in again but facing the other way (im guessing u have a simple 2 prong cord without that middle round prong like i do). Im think it is something to do with the positive and negative thingy (yes i know practically nothing about electronics i dont need to be flamed for it) simple but it worked for me give it a try and tell ur results
Actually thats not the problem only with usb but also charger, today i tested with charger and then also the i get the shock. I think theres some problem in the phone usb connector.
Well tommorow i will give it to service centre. Lets see...
shock
Well this is a problem that I had too- especially if I touched the damn phone barefoot.
The issue seems to be related to proper earthing (grounding) of the electricity supply.
@samy 3660- This is especially true in India since the US or European connectors do not have the earth pin for Indian sockets
The problem goes away if you put in proper earth terminal (for charger) or ground the PC case properly.
I had the same problem with my laptop at camp in Croatia, whenever I connected power supply I got shock from any metal part of my notebook. in other countries later it was ok, next year at same camp same problem so there could be problem with your electricity, sorry my english

PLEASE HELP!!!Treo 750 and audio socket problem

Hi guys! Hope you can give me a hand on this...
I´ve been got my palm treo 750 since last March and everything goes really good with it, in fact i love it, but 2 days ago i plugged the headphones in it and only could listen through the speaker of the treo. I tried it sometimes more but nothing happened, the only way it works is to plug the headphones and do a soft-reset, when it starts i can listen to music or whatever through the headphones, and when i disconnect them and turn it off for a while, it happens again, so i have to do another soft-reset with the headphones plugged to listen though the headphones again.
1) I suppose it´s a hardware malfunctioning stuff, but maybe it´s not copmletely broken and could work fine with a soft appl, is that possible?
2) If not, does any one have specific photos and info about how to do the surgery?
3) In case i do the surgery, is it possible to change the socket from 2.5 to 3.5 mm? I mean, it´s only a hardware situation or do I have to install or change something in the treo´s software.
Anything would be great except take it to the technical service bc it could take a very long time to get it back, and i use to need it daily.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE
You may want to take a look at this site...

Also, I had my headset jack stick and I used WD-40 lubricant applied to the inside of the jack using the headset plug repeatedly dipped in the WD-40 and inserted in the jack.
I've had no problem since the WD-40 released the stuck jack and my audio was restored.
Good luck, either way!

hello, thanks for replying, but it´s the same way to fix it on treo 750 (700w)? I would prefer fix it by myself bc I don´t even kive in the US so, and my treo still as warranty, but dont want to send to technical service bc this could take a long time.
is there any application such as headcold v1 but for windows mobile?
I think in my case could be repaired by software bc when I do a soft-reset with the headphones plugged it works perfectly again.
SOLVED!!!
I just used WD-40 to clean the audio socket but i think that was not the solution. the thing is very simple.
From my point of view I think when the handheld is turned off, you should plug the headphones, and turn the device on with the headphones plugged in, and this should work.
my problem was i used to plugged them in when the device was on, and in this situation the socket does NOT recognize the headphones properly, so just plug them when the palm is OFF.
sounds a silly thing but in my case it worked
hope this help anyone who needs it

usb connection with pc suddenly dead

Hello suddenly my nexus s stopped connecting with data with the pc it only charges, tried with 3 diffrent computers with diffrent os , no menu popping on nexus and nothing connected on the computer(like i didnt connect anything), i removed the battery left it for some time installed stock rom still nothing. It was acting normally for a second and the other it stopped any help appreciated!
Are you sure you're using the cable that came with the phone? I have an LG Wink featurephone here that uses the same connector at the phone end -- its cable will charge my Nexus S (using the computer, obviously, but also when used with either the LG or Samsung charger) but no USB connection happens when I use it. Only the cable that came with my Nexus S provides a USB connection when I connect to the computer. I guess there are pinout differences between the two cables.
If you're sure you're using the right cable, I would guess that it's gone bad if it doesn't work on any computer. You can buy an (overpriced) replacement from Samsung or maybe a cheaper one on eBay or at a retail store. If the latter, be sure the seller lists it as compatible with the Nexus S.
it happened with the original cable ppfff i dont know...
same problem

Hi
I have the same problem
I have no idea what the problem could be.
We are not alone with this problem: code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=13553
Now installed stock rom as well but still the same problem.
If i starting the NS in the bootloader mode the phone is not recognized by the computer.
It would be great, if someone knows a solution!

My phone charges just fine. And my USB connectivity was fine until I manually installed 2.3.4.
~I had usb connection problems after upgrade to 2.3.4 a bit different but I managed to get the USB back by formatting the SD card.

I was on 2.3.3 when this happened, i tried to flash 2.3.4 then and again it didnt work but the strange thing is that when i was moving the mini usb the first times up and down it was shown for a moment as a broken usb device. Then this stopped and was not shown at all on the computer and finally the phone charged super slow when connected to electricity
Beginning to believe that it is a physical prob with USB connector on phone. It seems to start/stop charging when wiggling usb on phone but no mounting. Doe anyone know best way to resolve , T-mobile but bought from Best Buy? so to Best Buy? FOR SUPPORT /EXCHANGE? suggestions?
I've seen loose connections before. My suggestion ain't the cheapest but the plug, on the cable end, shouldn't wiggle. I went to a corporate sprint store, the ones that actually have working display phones, and got their usb to micro usb data cable. The thing with that cable is when you plug it in the phone side, it goes into the jack firmly. You can almost feel the little locking tabs click into place. There should be no play or wiggle with that cable as long as there's no damage or abuse with the jack on the phone. IMO, that's a good data cable. It's never given me problems before.
Also, sometimes the cable is only wired for charging. A true data cable will be wired correctly and be able to both charge and transfer data. Usually the cables that come with the phone are crap quality. I don't know if my suggestion will help but it won't hurt to have a good cable for data transfer and flashing. The last thing you want is a flaky connection from a cheap cable when you're flashing roms. Russian roulette with bricking a phone in a worse case situation.
Did you try reboot the computer and the phone? How about a different usb port? How about unplug any other usb device in case it's conflicting for some unknown reason? It sounds like so many people with windows 7 are having problems. Usually always happens with a new os that's released. Xp, for flashing devices and programming different hardware devices, has never given of a problem. I have a small partition with xp on it just for that purpose only.
off to Samsung for repair for me...
After time on phone with them and a factory reset belief is that the usb connector is defective. BTW Best Buy just hands off to Samsung 1-800 #
So Back to a barely functional G-1 for a while, glad I could find it!
So is Samsung or the carriers replacing or fixing units?
My USB data died shortly after 2.3.4 ota update.
Wifi FTP is fine for data transfer but I want USB debug to work...
Shame on google and Samsung, this bug has been around for months.
no shame on anyone...
I went through a factory reset with Samsung on phone that isolated the problem to what is apparently a loose usb connector, nothing to do with software... only hassle is sending it in for repair, as` mentioned problem needs to be dealt with Samsung customer service (not carrier or Best Buy), they were fine on phone...

USonic and adapter issues

Hey everyone,
I'm writing to you all because I could use some some help or diagnosis because I really don't know what's wrong here.
Okay so first thing first, I've been using this phone for 4 months now, and so far, I like it.
So I've been using the USonic for listening to my music. Except that since a couple weeks, the USonic has been acting weird.
One side isn't working correctly anymore, the sound is weird (not loud and.. just not natural) and the microphone isn't working.
But fortunately, the sound is working decently if I plug them on the other side (although it doesn't sound as loud as it used to..)
One time, both sides weren't working at all (Accessory not supported in the settings) but after a cleanup of the USB port, it went back to the "one side only is working"
Okay so I thought that MAYBE my USonic were just half dead.
So I decided to use the adapter (which I barely used)
It sounded like it was working correctly but then I realized that while I was playing music (or even when they're just plugged in), the adapter disconnected/reconnected (the earphones icon disappeared/reappeared and so is the warning message that says that the adapter will draw power)
I noticed that it occurs when I touch the adapter a little bit, so it can work if I don't move at all, but that's definitely not possible given that I mainly listen to music when I'm commuting.
For instance, putting the phone in my pocket and walking would trigger the issue.
So now I don't know, either I'm very unlucky with my accessories, either something's messed up with my USB port.
I originally wanted to send it to HTC for repairs but before doing that, I decided to be honest with them and told them that I unlocked the bootloader, so I wanted to know whether it would void my guaranty or not. And apparently, it does (in France)
So I'm not sure if I want to send it to repairs and pay a lot (for an issue that has nothing to do with unlocking the bootloader)
I also could buy a new adapter on HTC France but it pains the living hell of me to pay 16€ of shipping. It's just unacceptable.
So here I am, clueless on what do to. So I'm requesting your help, dear community.
What can I do? I did a factory reset already, I did go back to a RUU already.
I did clean the USB port and it looks clean but if you have any effective method on how to clean it, I'd be happy to hear about it.
If you know any place where I can buy a working adapter (which seems complicated) for a decent price.
Unfortunately, I can't buy Google pixels ones since Google doesn't sell anything in France.
Thank you very much for reading my misfortunes and I thank you for any help,
EDIT: Forgot to add that I have absolutely no problem with charging or transferring data with the USB cable.
Same problems
I have similar issues with mine (unlocked US version). My USonic headphones, charging cables and data transfer all work fine. When I first got the phone I had no problems with the included adapter, I even bought 2 more to keep as extras and they all worked fine.
About a month ago I plugged in the aux cable in my car and the sound was coming out of the phone, there was no headphone icon and it was not recognizing the adapter. Later I tested out the other adapters with no success. My wife has a U11 as well, so I tested all of the HTC adapters on hers with no problems which ruled out that my adapters were faulty.
I did a support chat with HTC who of course suggested that I factory reset my phone, which didnt work. Then they suggested I do a RUU, which also didn't solve the problem. The port is clean, no dust or lint.
On the google play store reviews for the "Audio Jack Toolkit" app many people are reporting the same issue. I just haven't had time to send the phone in for repairs at the moment.
You're lucky that I am seeing your post.
I'm in France as well and I have experience with HTC support team & repair center. But I don't have any problem with USB C connection in no matter what situation on my HTC 10 & U11.
I suspect that some pins of your USB C port on the U11 is not working well, so that you can't listening to music well but meanwhile you can charge it normally.
To test if it's a problem of the adapter you bought, just plug the adapter to any other USB C port phone, to see if it's working. (Yes, HTC headphone jack adapter works for most other non-HTC phones with USB C)
And, I'd say you should grab your chance to send the machine for repair if it's really a hardware (USB C port) issue. Even that you removed the warranty, but you should try. Because it's Cordon electronics who repairs the HTC phones in France, not HTC official staffs. Even if they found you don't have your warranty anymore, you should also be able to pay them to repair (the warranty just covers the repair fee, not means HTC strictly refuses to repair). You can't just live with it or spend another 800 euros or more to get a Pixel 2.
Anyway, you're welcome to reach me out on PM so that we may talk on twitter or other platforms. XDA is good for sharing developer stuffs but not for friendly chatting.

Little update. I sent my phone to Cordon electronics with both accessories.
I just received it today and not only they only gave me a new pair of HTC USonic (I did put the adapter on my package and yet I received nothing from them) but the best thing is that my screen is now cracked!! Wow.
I don't know how I'll ever prove that I sent it without it being cracked but I feel that I'm pretty much screwed.
I know that this is independent from HTC but honestly I lost faith in the company :/

WTF...Send email to HTC support with photos.
That's just ridiculous...
Keep me updated, I'm HTC elevate & ambassador, I can't just let things like this happens. If you want, send me a PM with all the details/photos, I'll see what I can do.
You shouldn't have to do this but I suggest recording everything you do from now. Record yourself boxing up the phone, etc. It's something I always do after horror stories of repair centres returning damaged phones.
Audio Router.apk is the solution
I just had the same issue with my Usonic headphones. They would only work if I gently pushed them in and any movement caused them to disconnect. Charging worked fine. I used a needle and cleaned out all of the dust and pocket lint from my USB port and now they are working perfectly!

HTC U11 Bad microphones and loose charging port

So guys, I need some help...my HTC U11 suddenly stopped to record voice/sounds (whatsapp, fb messenger) not even working with stock recorder, then people could not hear me when making calls. Restarted on safe mode and run all the diagnostics but it didn't pick the voice in any way, some weeks later also the charging phone didn't recognize type C earphones neither the type C dongle, I had to move it a little bit so it can connect normally...but it worked normally with the charger (a bit strange) So I took it to repair since is not under warranty anymore, everything works OK, phone turns on, no screen damage, camera, performance, all fine except the issues mentioned above. Thing is, technician said he replaced all microphones but the problem remains, also the charging port is loose (that I can understand) but he says that in order to make it work he would need to replace the whole motherboard, but it looks to me like too much since the phone is not dead at all. I'm no expert but it looks to me I am right, wouldn't be just enough with microphones and charging port flex replacement?I I sincerely hope some of you can give me a better idea or if I'm right or not, since of course replacing the whole motherboard would increase the replacement cost. Thanks for your help.
Why is it not under warranty anymore?

I'm from Perú and bought it from an external source since it is the 6 GB/128 GB version (tried to contact warranty but HTC said it was supposed to be seen by the origin country (phone was bought in Hong Kong) so you know, just by sending it over it would really cost a lot.
Send it back and get a refund. I highly advise you don't pay for anything and contact the supplier. They might cover the costs of postage if you ask nicely. If they don't, the cost of packaging and posting to HK won't be anywhere near the cost of the phone itself, or the cost of a motherboard.
Once you have your refund you can buy another phone from a location more reliable and closer to home as the 6/128 has now gone worldwide.

Dude!!! Yes!!! Same issue here. My phone doesn't recognize when it's been charged, and it only charges to 87% and the led light doesnt turn red at all. My mic isn't working either. When I make calls I have to have it on speaker so the other mics kick in. I have already replaced the charging port which also includes the main mic but no success. Hopefully someone will be able to help us. Other than that, u11 is great.

Hmmmm, I have to say i have some similar issues, except for the MIC problems. Connecting the official charger + cable does not charge the device. Nothing seems to happen. Connecting the official HTC USB-C headphones also does nothing. However when connecting the charger or the headphones and restarting the phone does work (i.e phones charges, headphones detected).
As said I do not have issues with the microphone. Seems software? Reset to Factory settings?
