I've bought this device just now and it was in german. I've upgraded the rom with this file: http://rapidshare.com/files/18878892/UK_11200_131_11210_ship.exe
I followed every step in the guide. It works now, i mean it's in English and everything, but it thinks it's an i-mate! The bootscreen has a huge i-mate logo on it and all the customizations are gone! When it boots up it tries to load some, but they are obviously not for this device because they do not work.
HELP!!
Phones cant think
Its a customised version of Config that you hve loaded.
Just go to Start -> Programs -> uto Configuration and select a carrier that you use / select Default
It will install the new customised settings and your phone will reboot.
You're done!
Uhm i can't really find anything like that in Programs. :-s could it be hiding somewhere?
hard reset the device after backing up data.
"Auto Configuration" option will be there on first startup.
you can choose your carrier from there.

where to download - or doesn't exist ?
If you want to get access to the extended ROM you simply have to do perform the standard debranding procedure on you MDA Compact (or whatever brand you have).
Here is how it works:
1) Do a hard reset.
2) Go through all the initial configuration stuff (calibration of touch screen etc.).
3) At some point you will be asked to tab the screen to continue. Right after that the contents of the extended ROM will begin to install themselves. The trick is to tap the screen and immidiately after perform a soft reset.
Once your MDA Compact is done with the soft reset, you will find yourself being the proud owner of a debranded phone/pda. The external ROM will be visible. If you wish to install some of the things on the external ROM simply execute the respective CAB files.
I chose to install the caller ID application as well as the camera patch.
Have fun,
Lars
Hello,
Ok but if you don't want to make a hard reset you can:
go to your windows directory and launch loadvdisk.exe
just for info total commander see this file but the explorer of file not
yes thanks - but still i can't edit the ex-rom
Right, I forgot to mention that you can unlock the extended ROM without a hard reset. However, this is as I see it not particularly useful since everything on the extended ROM has already been installed if you don't go through the debranding procedure. Also as the name Read Only Memory (ROM) suggests you cannot write to it, so it is fairly useless to unlock it if everything on it has already been installed ... except if you want to extract the content of it to post it

I don't need to post - there is a lot already on the web. i need to change some preconfiguration with my own cab files for my company.
But it seams that there is no way to do this like with the 2020
Hi,
Hardware: Vodafone VPA compact/T-Mobile MDA compact (HTC Magician).
Problem: CAB files in /Storage folder are being deleted after installation - even if they are read-only!
This only happens if they are located in the /Storage folder. I did a hard reset and soft reset afterwards to get a non-customized device but the behaviour is still the same, so this doesn't seem to be a customization "feature".
Any ideas?
Use CabInstl to install cab's. It will let you choose where to install & got the option to keep the cab.

Thanks for the hint. It looks like a good alternative to the standard procedure. However I do need an automated mechanism (installing CABs after hardreset automatically) which can be used from the extended_rom/config.txt and I, lacking detailled information about cabinstl, doubt that cabinstl can be used in "silent" mode using commandline parameters. But I'll give it a try. Meawhile we implement a workaround.
thanks.
Hi guys,
I would like to know how do I hardreset my freshly flashed mda II. I'm using the helmi sp2 rom and I've got the following problem: all programs I have installed before remained still in storage after a successful flash operation!
I can't peform a hardreset under wm 5 because the camera button is damaged and does not work anymore! I suppose that is the error I made during the flashing process by not making the following steps:
qoute from flashing manual:
Select the options as follows:
(for selecting use RecordButton, change values with CameraButton)
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
Never made this step. So my qestion to you is how do I make a hardreset and get to this menu without using the hardware buttons?
thank you so much in advance for your help!
Start -> Settings -> System -> Clear Storage?
thx for response!
unfortunately there's no "clear storage" button. any further solutions?
the previous reg still remained...you have to fix that camrec button...
Ok I downloaded the file for my XDAIIs to upgrade it from an early version of WM5 to the latest one.
All went ok and it upgraded the device so all my programs were still there and working.
So the problem is there are duplicate icons in the program list (powerpoint and word ect..) but more importantly everytime I install new software they dont get added into the program list, but they are in the remove programs list and in some cases the programs will run (SOTI Pocket Controller only)
So what have I done wrong if anything or how do I get round it.
Thanks
normaly when people do an rom update they do a
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
in the bootloader to get rid of registrys and data from the last rom
which can easy result in the issues you are facing
ok that seems fair enough... is there something I can do with the current install or will I need to upgrade again.
I have taken out the duplicate shortcuts that were in the programs list so its just a case of getting new programs to display....
Thanks
it's result is that of the old fasion hardreset
== everything back to whats in the rom
Ok just done it.... thanks for all your help
this is a xda2s and when I press the power button and press the reset button for upto 10 secs the device doesnt factory reset.... but I am sure it did before:
1) am I doing that right
2) how do I change the settings so it clears the reg ect... if I wanted to upgrade the device again.
Thanks
i have a modecom freetab 9000 ips icg. i'm going to update it from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 (the autoupdate function doesn't see the update... strange!)
but, i also want to have my tablet rooted for real this time (currently in some applications it says 'this device is rooted', but i cant find supersu anywhere, nor can i use root functions.
since i first check what i'm doing, i ran through the flash.xml file that should be loaded in the intel manufacturing flash tool (MFT for now), and already saw some stuff i wouldn't desire to be, like the default language settings on polish and so forth so i changed everything (language, locale, dateformat set to dd/MM/yyyy, and my timezone)
now i saw all these options and i thought there must be more then just this; i must also be able to install extra software one way or another... and YES; MFT supports up to 10 apk's you can install additionally after flashing your device with the option "additionalAPKx" where x is 1 to 10 if you have set the option to enable the developers settings on your device...
Now; i want to install supersu with this option through MFT, but i'm looking for the optionname of the developer settings (like; ro.developer = "true") but i can't seem to find it...
So if anyone knows the optionname of the developer settings (and optionally 'install from unknown sources') this would greatly help me forward in my test.
if this works; then we have found another great, and EASY way to root devices with the original bootloader & rom still in place... except off course if this is already tested and found not to be working ...
