I have a Qtek 900. WM6 ROM 2.01.08WWE
If I start with a clean windows, after a reboot, I am able to login on my home wifi, as soon as I have logged in to another hotspot, it is impossible to logon on my home wifi.
At the properties of the Comm manager, it writes that I am connected and I have an IP-adress, but at the Wifi settings he stays in the connecting mode, so I am not able to use the internet.
I never have a SIM card in my Qtec, I only use it for navigation and reading my mail.
I had the same problem with WM5, and I thought WM6 would fix this problem.
Anyone suggestions.
Did you try to download and install WifiProfiles, then assign manually an IP? Maybe your problem can be solved by this..

Thank you, it works fine now.

Hello,
I have trouble to get my internet connection work. Normally i go to Start->Settings->Connections->Connections and rightclick on the existing connection.. Then my PDA connects. But after upgrading to WM6 my PDA does nothing.. I tried to execute welcome.exe again ( maybe two missing files) but this didn't work for me...The Settings for the connection are the same as i have used with WM5.
Pleaaase help me ? anybody?
Thanx
I found that if I have GPRS running with the Smart1 Rom, and I then disconnect it, I can only get it to reconnect by either soft-resetting the phone or toggling flight mode on and off. Did you hard reset your prophet after flashing the WM6 ROM?
WM6, Ie, GPRS
Yes, i made hard resets for several times now, but the internet connection doessn't work. Maybe a language problem?

Do you guys only get a "x" at the GPRS icon? I have run cabs to install network setting of my carrier correctly, but still unable to connect to the internet via GPRS. no matter using IE or MSN or or Worldmate
Nope.. My Device doesn't do anything at all. Normally i would get this message that my device is connecting. but i do not even get an error message. The same situation when i try to send/receive Emails...
???! quite annoying..'cause my settings ( proxy, Accesspointname etc. is 100% correct, because this are the settings that would work for WM5..

This is the same situation that I mentioned. Don't know how to fix on this Smart1 NEW rom v1.
So it seems to be a Bug.. I hope it will be fixed in further release. I am wondering that nobody else have this problem ?? I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299023, so i guess that my Network (O2) does not have a 100% functionallity..
Additionally i' ve tried the AKU 3.3 ASERG Rom. Here the Inet Connection works, but the ROm doesn't have this Look&Feel of WM6.. The Today Skin is like on WM5 ...maybe this can be improved?
I recently went through the whole spiel to flash Faria's new ROM to my Wizard, everything worked out great and I love the rom and all of its little goodies and doodads but there's one thing that does bother me and I'm sure there's a simple soultion....
Windows Live Messenger will not connect over WiFi, it always tried to get on my EDGE/GPRS for some reason, and when i used it with EDGE everything worked great? Any ideas or solutions?
Try connecting to messenger with the phone switched off but with wifi connected. It will use the only available connection. You can turn the phone radio back on once connected and it will still use wifi.

i had this issue too. since i NEVER use gprs (i don't have a data plan, do not intend to get one, and don't won't the bill if i use it), i reflashed and refused the carrier customization. without customization, my phone has no gprs connection configured and won't even try to connect via gprs.
I´m using TNT 19199.1.0.0 and Windows Live Messenger 10.6.0034.0800
I´m not able to connect thru Wi-Fi neigther. I´ve tryied disabling the phone radio and enabling the wi-fi only. Doing this, I can surf the web, and even log into messenger but on the internet explorer brownser (really bad), but still the Windows Live Messenger won´t connect. It would try to do it, even for some time (1 minute at least) but then it would give an error.
Even I can´t chech the hotmail messages using wifi, on the windows live messenger application, still i can log into hotmail on the web-brownser.
It´s seems that the Windows Live is trying to connect only using the GPRS data, regardless if there´s no GPRS data session, or even the Phone Radio turned off, and even with the nice Wi-Fi connection up and running fine.
Any different approach?
i used to have that problem, but sovled now
i did have the same situation
but i download another version which not add contact to my phone contact, it works perfectly~
no matter Wifi or GPRS, just talk anywhere~~
link please.
hi
im trying to install fring after hard reset.
it just show the logo , but dosent log in.
any one know anything about it?
same thing after soft reset, the fring try to conect and nothing hapend, just the boot logo.
thanks
Same thing...
I had a problem with Fring. First time i ran it, i connected by WiFi.
Then when i was in a pub with no WiFi, i wanted to connect by mobile internet, but it didn't work, even though the connection was on and working.
The only solution for me, was to connect back on WiFi later, then from there change the connection to Mobile Internet and add Mobile Internet to the connection group.
Apparently, Fring has some problems when setting connections and/or connection groups on start-up. Maybe you ran into a different form of the same bug.
Do you see the "Please select connection" screen? Or it doesn't go to there either?
Hey guy, i have the Omnia i-900 Samsung PDA Phone,
I have an issue, When ever you turn on your mobile? The Windows Mobile 6.1 instantly connects your phone to have 3.5G packet Data Connection ( Vodafone AU Internet)
This problemas has charged me over 260 dollars lol and i dont even use the net..
I know i can turn it off by, disconnecting the data connection, by pressing Disconnect on the Tab on top displaying the 3.5G+ Icon. But i think sometimes it sometimes connect back again... i ended all of the tasks as well
Is there a way to permanently disable 3.5g active data connection witout having to delete the vodafone setting? or soft-reset your mobile, without having to worry that your fone will connect to the internet if you dont want to...
I only want to use the internet when ever i want to, like on demand..
Thanks in advance guyz.
1. PDA should not automatically connect Data connection, except if U have some app in autostart which needs Data.
At least mine doesn't connect.
2. You might try to force only GSM connection. Try to disable HSDPA in Settings->Connections. Not sure that will help...
Oh, and does autoconnect happens after soft-reset too?
Start, settings, connections tab, connections, advanced tab, net selections (the first on top) and select in both windows the "office net". So it can use only the wi-fi connection. Confirm all and finally soft reset.
The names that i told may be different, because i have translate them from my italian rom.
I have the Diamond, but it had your same problem. With this solution, no more problems to me.
Ciao
There is probably an application that requires internet access. It could be a weather app that loads fresh data, Windows update, an IM app and so on.
Have a look around your applications (and settings) and I'm sure you will find the culprit
Im having an odd problem, where windows live does not seem to attempt to use the default Internet Connection settings on my device. I am connected to the internet, via 3G, i can download emails, browse the web etc. However windows live does not seem to want to use this connection. It signs in fine over wifi, but as soon as I disable wifi and try to connect directly over 3G, it fails.
The odd thing, is that it doesn't even attempt to open an Internet Connection over 3G before it fails. I would expect the sign in process to try and open an new connection but it just displays a connectivity error. I suspect it is trying to connect over an invalid connection, though there seems no way to tell Windows Live to connect over a specific connection like you can with regular mail.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I might discover the cause of this problem? The only change of note I have made before this error started was to setup an Exchange account with Googles sync feature, however I fail to see how that could be the cause.
Welcome to forums
Try reinstaling live messenger or use another version
It would help a lot to know what device you have
Sorry, thought I had my specs in my sig. runnign and Xperia on Stock Aussie ROM (WM6.1). Have tried reinstalling but to no avail...
I have the same problem with my Palm Treo Pro on Telstra Next G, and all effort so far have been fruitless, my main problem is that when the phone goes into sleep mode so does Windows Live/Messenger rendering the whole thing useless. No such problem exists with my Nokia 6120 which connects Windows Live thru Next G without issue. Just about ready to go back to Fring which also had no Next G problems.
