Letter Recognizer - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hey guys,
I've searched everywhere. It is annoying me to the point that I might use the older rom again. I just can't find any letter recognizer that is missing from Taxist's rom. Has anyone had any luck finding some sort of cab file with it in it?
PS Yes I've used other programs but I just want the letter recognizer back
Thanks heaps

How to change the hard keyboard to Chinese mapping?

Hi there all, I have searched and read and then searched some more, even on other forums but (probably due to my technological stupidity) I have not found an answer... I need to use Chinese sometimes when emailing or smsing etc and I like to use the hard keyboard if its going to be a long one (amazing how quickly I got to like the qwerty keyboard)... now I have AEKmap so I can quickly change from the English one to a Chinese one (or so I thought) but I find that it does not have a Chinese keyboard listed in the options (just the default and a couple of Russian options). I have CEStar installed and also the d-ear Chinese sip as well as the 10 Key d-ear sip... but still cant find an option to enable the Chinese mapping for the hard keyboard. Am I missing something obvious (all to likely given my skill with tech stuff) or do I need to find a Chinese keyboard map? thanks for any help anyone can offer...
CE star is a solution but it s not free
and the logiciel bug my HTC wizard and Kaiser (hard reset)
Thanks but I already have CEStar but when I slide out the hard Kb it wont let me choose a Chinese layout and I can not type in pinyin... (wont let me choose a sip), would sip change help here?

install CESTAR or A4 pinyin input for Kaiser
then, open up your registry editor
go to HKLM->HARDWARE->DEVICEMAP->KEYBD
change curlang to 0x804
restart your kaiser
slide out your keyboard, the Sym/Tab button should allow u to switch to chinese input (if yours is a Eur/US device)
if yours is a Chinese APAC device, then you should see a chinese character at that button.
the button is on the left of the space bar
I have CEStar and it works perfectly for me. as long as you select the chinese mode, you will be able to eithe type in chinese with the keyboard (slide-out) or type with the stylus (regular)
Ruffruff... thanks for the advice, if I make this regedit will it be chinese layout all the time or can I select between default and Chinese in AEKmap?
Zcsx1985 yeah I sort of worked it out, I had to select the sip in portrait and then when I slid the keyboard out it worked fine...
Actually now that I have done that I can bring up the sip switch thing (little triangle next to the keyboard symbol on the screen) after sliding out the keyboard which I couldnt do before and now its all ok... well so far... cheers

Hi Shadow, how did you get the d-ear sips to work? Any special configurations necessary?
I have not managed to get them to work properly. when i type any messages, it appears right on my kaiser screen but when sent, my client will receive a whole page of question marks.
Did you overcome that issue?

I didnt do anything special, just install and then use... is your clients phone set up to receive Chinese characters cos thats the only reason for them not being able to receive them I can think of.. of course I am not too knowledgeable about such matters so it might be something else... if it is perhaps try uninstalling and then reinstalling... plus I am using a cooked ROM not stock...

I have an English ROM, how can I get Chinese MENU (switchable to English) and Chinese Pinyin input...? Thank in advance....
I'm using a WWE ROM and after I installed CE Star and the input method, it works great without any registry modifications
but one thing that bothers me is everytime I need to open the soft keyboard, press the "Chinese" symbol" once, then I can use the "input switch" button on the hardware keyboard to switch between typing English and Chinese ...
Tony as Kw31 says, CEStar is my main IME and it works fine, only conflicts with MS reader when its in Chinese mode (and also Pleco2 but thats another program)...

Weird problem with hardware keyboard

I was just wondering if any1 else has experienced this problem of when typing away happily at full speed there message ever ends up like this
"thisi sa n examplem essage"
point im getting at is that my space bar seem to occasionally put the space a character too late this has happened to with both duttys hybrid 6.1 rom and sleuths v3 rom
anyone had this problem and fixed it or has any ideas how I cud implement a fix?
i tried search but as its an odd problem i was 100% wat to search for so sorry if i missed it.
I do but it is not that severe. I believe its a wm6.1 issue
Space bar issue previously brought up

This has been brought up here and here, but I have not yet seen a diagnosis, let alone a cure. This happens to me occasionally also. I think that where and how hard I press the space bar has some influence on this, but I'm not certain.
Perhaps this thread could be moved into one of the threads containing the posts mentioned above.
[RE: searching - I used the Advanced Search, looked for Posts, not Threads, and searched for "keyboard space problem"]
This is, I believe, an old bug with XT9.
Just look for a disable XT9 cab (dutty had it somewhere). I used it many times to fix this.
Be aware that, by disabling XT9, diamond or touch keyboard wont work.
ah yes! I have been getting this problem too! I'll try the disable xt9 and report back...
i've been having the same problem, not sure why exactly but only happened when I flashed Dutty's latest rom. I found the only way around it is to type slower, which doesn't match my style of texting

thank you i shall try this in future i just searched threads without noticing and go no results obviously as ppl would word the problem differently....just getting the disablext9 cab now. thanks again
this is def xt9 interferene
either disable it
or try going to settings buttons and making the delay before repeat shorter
its a Xt9 issue. as long as you have a software sip that uses XT9 then you would have that keyboard lag... i dont think changing the delay periods would do anyting...
to fix this you need to download and install dutty's disable xt9 cab and install it. it would fix the hardware keyboard problem, but in return you wont bealbe to use the software SIP keyboard. the Xt9 would be disabled so essentially you can type right.
i believe L26 is fixing the daimond keyboard to work right. if it is successful this then we might be a step closer to having a solution...
Guys, I suffered that issue, I flashed HardSPL v.3.29 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=396922), as yet writting sms and notes, keyboard and space character works correctly
-- post repeated --
i had the same issue. really annoying. upgraded to spl 3.29 and l26 v8 and its gone completely. no space bar lag at all.
as an aside, l26 v8 is by far the fastest rom i've had on my kaiser and i've tried most of them
And will it accentuate characters through Fn + Space shortcut with HardSPL 3.29?

yes SPL has nothing what so ever to do with the characters that are cooked in the rom lol
FYI, the problem is gone in L26 V8 because XT9 is NOT installed in that rom.

Qrek 9100 keyboared US to SE in BRIGHTPHONE

I have installed S.I.V.'s BRIGHTPHONE rom (great thing btw, thanks!) and enjoy using it. One problem though is that I get the US keyboard instead of the Swedish 041D, which it originally came with. Typing with it is almost impossible finding the letters ä,ö,ü,å. I tried to find the Registry or file .....\keybd\Locale to change keyID, without success. Can not find Total Command inmy wizard either. Anyone who can help? All suggestions are welcome and highly appreciated!
Thanks!

There is a wiki page that deals specificaly with that. I have not had to change the keyboard locale... so I am not too familiar with that. Also BRIGHTPHONE does not have additional language file in it.
That rom is so old and so slow. you need to upgrade anyway.
Thanks siv
Ok, I just liked the functions and look but consider to upgrade to ANGEL. Thanks for your reply and THANKS for all your work with the ROMs. Good work.

Word Completion Help

I realized that I know almost NOTHING about my phone!! My word completion is not working correctly...all the websites I've gone to say something about changing the registry values...but I have NO CLUE how to get to that, let alone change it! Please someone explain this to me step by step! I had the Tilt before this and I loved word completion! Thanks

There's a fix you can find somewhere that disables T9. That's what causes the Fuze's weird word completion. However, by using this fix to get the Tilt's style of word completion you will lose the hardware symbol key (it won't work anymore). I will upload the cab later. I think I need to download it again

I am kind of new here but I did find setting about word completion
start/setting/input/option/T9 setting
there are some check boxes that say word completion try enabling or disabling them and see if that helps.
There is a program called total Commander that has a registry editor just Google it to find it
To the best of my knowledge there is no working solution.
I tried the registry changes ages ago that turned off the crappy t9 but it fecked up the full size software keyboard, when I clicked on the numbers tab it refused to go back to the abc option and I had to hard reset, changing the reg keys made no difference.
Other tweaks ended up auto completing words even when I didn't want them to.
Hope you get lucky, if you do, please post back
here's the solution: http://www.fuzemobility.com/autocorrect-and-autocompletion-solved/
Opps
I lied- sorry- it is fixable
haven't checked the link above but here is a soluion that i had tried previously and it now works perfectly.

read post 65 and 67
This solution will require free and instant registration with ppcgeeks to download the cab file but you just transfer it to your phone, navigate to it and click on it- no need to play with the registry.

How do I restore the Block Recognizer

Hi all!
I have just updated my TP2 (Verizon) to WinMo 6.5. The Block Recognizer has disappeared. Verizon's response is a resounding "oh well".
I understand there is a registry entry that will restore the feature. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?
I am desprate, my fingers are too big for the on screen keyboards.
Thanks for advance.
Uncle Eric
Im guessing you also dont like using the slide out keyboard (which i am happily using to type this). I dont know the reg edit for the block recognizer but i can suggest 2 soft input panels u can try. One is Spb keyboard (not free) which has a much bigger onscreen keyboard. There is also my favorite solution for onscreen keyboards....Swype. Its free because it was pulled from the rom to another HTC phone and is compatible with the tp2. If u want the cab let me know. Do a google search to find out how it works. I believe it is a much more efficient way of typing onscreen. If ur not interested in the cab then maybe someone else can throw their hat in as far as the reg edit. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the response.
What I really want is the feature in WinMo 6.1 restored in 6.5. The Verizon Imagio has this feature, I guess, because of the lack of a keyboard.
I like the "Palm Grafitti" type input, I have been using it since the first Palm device shipped, before WinMo or Windows CE even existed.
I am told there is a registry entry to fix all this, maybe I need to find an Imagio and look at its registry. I do know it is not just a 1 or 0, its one of those long {xxx-xxx} type entries.
Thanks again for the suggestion, but it does not work for me.
Uncle Eric
htc has a hotfix for this "HotFix RHo09076". it is on the htc site. it reinstalls the block recognizer and transcriber.

This hotfix does NOT work for the Verizon phones; I'm unsure for others.
I do know that all verizon did was disable the registry value for a few of the SIP(block recognizer and transcriber) and left all the dependent files alone(dll's, registry entries, etc.).
If you're comfortable with a regedit then here's what you'll need to do:
Letter Recognizer
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" - Disabled
Block Recognizer
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" – Disabled
Transcriber
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F0034DD0-2AD4-11d1-9CB0-E84BE8000000}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" - Disabled
it worked for my verizon tp2 with update to stock wm6.5
I found the registry entries and made the changes.
Unfortunately, this does not make the block recoginizer selectable.
On the menu that selects the keyboard, etc, there should be a selection "other input methods", after selecting that menu, the menu to select "block recognizer " appears.
I suspect there is another step here to add the "other input methods" or "block recognizer" to the selection menu.
The menu is located by pressing the up carret that is next to the keyboard icon.
Thanks
Uncle Eric
I found the Block/Letter Recognizer hotfix. It was on HTC's UK site. Can't post links yet, but it's at:
htc.com/uk/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=822&news_id=435
Problem was, when I went to install it I got an "unsupported device" error. So I edited the XML and made a CAB.
Hope this helps people out, I spent the better part of an afternoon looking for a fix and couldn't find one.

ScottSNX - you are a LIFESAVER... I thought I was losing my mind - because I know when I was in the verizon store I saw the block recognizer on the htc imagio and a friend of mine had the touch pro2 (but maybe windows 6.1) and it was there - which is one of the reasons I bought this device. I was pulling my hair out trying to find a solutions - thank God I came upon your post... This definitely works.. it literally took me 1 minute to download and it installed and worked in 30 seconds. I can't thank you enough!!!
Thanks ScottSNX
I completely agree. Thanks ScottSNX!

on my device. Now, I can choose block recognizer, but it doesn't work. Any help for me, please

Are you using a custom rom or have you upgraded to the new Sprint rom that HTC released a week or two ago?
Will this work for the Sprint Touch Pro 2?
Thankx for the HD2 Fix

Your .cab file did the job for my HD2. Dude, you rule!
Awesome
Thanks ScottSNX my block recognizer is up & running. Great work!
It works.
My Tmobile TP2 does not have this issue. A friend got one from Verizon and I "fixed" it with the .cab file.
Thanks ScottSNX!

Thanks for the fix. Believe me I'm glad someone did this, I'm lost without my block text!
Only, now, I need someone to walk this old man through how to install it.
I've downloaded it to my PC and tried to copy it to the phone. Won't copy.
I've downloaded it using my phone but when I open the folder I saved to, no file.
I'm sure it's simple but if you don't know how, it's frustrating.
Thanks again.
Works great
I installed and it works great. Now I can take notes again. Was a little rough using the board. Thanks for all the effort

Bump!
(Version MR1 just installed)
Have you connected your phone and computer (USB) using Microsoft ActiveSync? Find in the ActiveSync window the Explore utility...should be one of three selections available in a toolbar just below the standard File/Edit/View... toolbar.
Select Explore...and you'll see a typical Explorer view of your phone and its files.
Now, you can drag and drop the .cab file, for example.
Go now to your phone file explorer, find the .cab file...and run it. Voila!
My only question now, is -- I seem to recall that there was an on-screen keyboard with smaller keys than any of the keyboards now available. Is this another "enhancement" in 6.5.
Many thanks to Scott...on behalf of all of us (both of us? -- tee hee) who use the stylus for something other than just tapping. Letter and block recognition is awesome. If you haven't tried it in a while, I urge you to do so...it has come a long way!
