TyTN II - Driver Details - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hey All,
This is mostly for general information as to how the driver writing process works for this device.
The chip inside is a Qualcomm and ATi on the same chip, which everyone probably knows by now.
Most of the chip is qualcomm with the ATi for the 3d portion, Qualcomm is just the 2d portion. The ATi guys write up the their part and send it off the qualcomm. Then Qualcomm packages it in their driver... and depending on the customer request choose to enable or disable the 3d pieces. (Think X800 v X850 on a software level).
The roadblock is between Qualcomm and HTC. HTC needs to get together with qualcomm to produce a set of qualcomm drivers with it enabled. From my understanding it's a case of HTC needing to ask and they will likely receive.

Oooooooook....
J

... You know what? from my understanding You don't understand much, do You?
afaik there is no chance that qualcomm will give extended support for it's chip to htc for free..... I believe that with full functionality this chip would be much more expensive resulting with even more expensive tytn II devices.
think about it.

In a certain way we have nothing more than a tytn I with a new coat on.. thats the way i see it.
When i got my tytn II in september i was a little disappointed to see that its almost the same and there wasn t really anything new except the internal GPS and his new look.
And its was costing me 545 euro without VAT

Seriously- Could you be more rude? If your so smart then come up with a solution. Otherwise, just help out and don't flame.

yupp.... sorry for being a bit harsh and ruff on edges.
next time I'll suggest to close such a pointles thread instead of trying to explain anything to op.
I thought, that at this stage every xda-dev member have knowledge of the situation (if not then read/search before posting) and the fact, that nothing in this world will probably make qualcomm or htc give us a free solution.
You know what? I'll stfu and now let's trash this forum bit 'mo... :/

Polaris features same Problems as Kaiser?

Im really looking forward for this phone, but after reading about the problem with the kaiser (which is the same device, just minor changes) i am a bit insecure if i should buy it.
I really dont care about gaming on smartphones, but the video playback issue is a big no go. Anyone of the lucky owners can test videoplayback with the cruise?
Im especially interessted in the playback of xvid/divx material.
thx to anyone who sacrifices some time on this.
you should spc what resolution the movie was in
there would be a world of difference between a 800_600 video
and a divx in 240_320
well the worse case would be 640x480, anything higher than that would end in the converter.
I posted on this yesterday in regards to the video playback. I hate to say It is worse than my Kaiser. So bad I cannot watch even a short clip w/out getting mad. This is before I even loaded other programs onto this! The overall device is good in my opinion. Very light! However the video/media was a big factor in me purchasing the Cruise. I am sending this back on Monday and settling with my Touch Enhanced and Kaiser. I'm very glad I didn't sell either of these before I got the cruise!
bummer... so i think ill wait see how it turns out. On paper the TC should support hardware acceleration for video playback, seems its the same issue that is pressent on the kaiser (missing drivers...)
Hmm interesting, I hope they update that with a new firmware version...

Well, that confirms it. HTC is now in the business of shipping new form factors (eye candy) and not improved devices. At these prices it's disgusting really. Before anyone say it has an FM radio, they've been putting those in gadget watches for more than a decade
This thread should be stickied before HTC enjoys another Kaiser-like buying frenzy
The hardware is same, the difference is only the Radio FM and the keyboard
get olipro and cmonex to rewrite the drivers and then the problem wont be there anymore.
I just read topic "Kaiser Video Driver Bounty" and if this is true for Polaris I am really scared now. I want to buy Polaris, but after that I am not sure...
So is the same true for Polaris or not? And I am also thinking about Trinity it also have same problem?
If for Kaiser there stil isnt solution, is possible that for Touch Crouise there will be?
trinity dont share cpu with kaiser and polaris so it's problems are it's own
yes trinity doesnt have the issue. dont worry everyone u are all overreacting. remember xda was created to also fix problems the manuf. didnt fix so we will fix this one. coreplayer developers have gotten the drivers working properly for video playback so same will be applied to trinity. also cmonex and olipro might get to work on some drivers if they are still needed after that.
I thoughht its more software problem of HTC not only CPU. So if I understand you, Trinity dont have this problem?!?
EDIT:
Thanks Pawel062 you were qiuck, so from your answer it seems I should buy Touch Cruise and you, smart guys, will fix everything other?!? :-D...
but my second question still lasts:
Can you please tell me than if Trinity will be better to buy than Touch Cruise?
I dont want to be OT, so can you tell your opinios here please.

dont worry about OT. no it is not better to buy trinity. the cruise is a upgrade in almos every way to it. like i said we will try to solve every single problem out there. the video playback if we dont have a chance to solve it will be by coreplayer team. the rest with the help of cmonex and olipro and rest of team should be no problem at all.
good, the video playback issue is the main turnoff for meright now, but if you guys can handel it i think i buy the TC.

Have they solved it for TyTN II? If it is so fixable, why did they have a petition going for HTC?
the petition was started before the coreplayer progress i believe and it was also to keep htc from doing something like this. everything is fixable if u know how, have the time, and have the resources.
the athena project has been able to concur almost every single challenge we had coming our way. we will do the same with the polaris if given the chance and devices.

I appreciate your confidence but I think it is not right to advise people that this will indeed be fixed. Unless you have a solution I can download right now, this is still an issue and you should not be telling people that they can purchase this device with peace of mind that there will be a solution, because in fact you do not know how or when it will be fixed.
Another thing to consider is that the price of coreplayer is still TBD. What if they charge more than $100?? As it stands, the price is reasonable at $21.95, but it is no guarantee that the price of the next version will not be more to cover dev costs. And it remains to be seen if it will fix gaming and/or camera issues. I will be keeping my money in my pocket until something better comes along.

ug u people always have to be so negative and question the developers. listen coreplayer has promised a solution to be available soon. they have not commented about any price raises about this or anything. if the price does go up it wont be much. no one will pay 100 for coreplayer and both of us know that.
the problem is know and how to fix it is being researched properly.
the truth is the developers could do the fix but theres a few factors. first is the time it takes. it takes a while to do a driver like this for a pretty much undocumented device really. people have jobs and lives. the second is no one is going to do this for free. thats why theres a bounty in the kaiser forums.
the bounty though i believe is small but people are willing to do it including cmonex. remember xda developers is ment to solve problems manufactures arent able to fix. so there will be a fix.
So if I didnt care about video playback whatsoever, would you recommend the phone otherwise?

Htc Plugin & Touchflo

Can anyone tell me how to get the 6 tab HTC Home Plugin & the Touchflo cube on a Treo 750 for AT&T? I have tried to find it but I just can't seem to, Thanks to anyone who can help. Also I have used Touch Commander, is it a good sub for the Touchflo cube?

I don't go bothering to insult others.
Its a well known fact that the HTC menu system may well be modularized and CAB'd per say but the effect of its usefulness in another hardware environment may well differ due to the differences in hardware. For an uneducated fool as you so call me, you apparently didn't think to take this into your almighty omnipotence before hitting the reply button and piece mealing together a few choice consonants and vowels.
Case and point - the Treo Picture Dial feature works in most variants of devices for Windows Mobile, but not all - therefore is unreliable and results not predictable.
Again, my suggestion stems from looking in the right place for the right developers. You have a Treo device, it would make more sense to look up this kind of information in the 'Treo Nuts' sites (and yes, they're called that). If you want cross collaboration, then bring the files from here to there, but the developers here aren't much involved with the Treo device as this site has primarily to do with HTC variants of devices (my experiences).
Windows Mobile may be Windows Mobile, but you also have to consider other things, OMAP processors, ARM processors, INTEL processors, hardware chipset vendors, hardware response buttons, system integration... the list goes on.
Feel judicially educated... for someone to insult a long standing member of this forum by someone registered for mere days compared to my 1.5 years of assistance and dedication to numerous developers here, your opinion weighs in as very little if not non-consequential sir.
If you intend on being as rude to other fellow developers, testers, or other well standing members here, you're going to find a very rude awakening to future questions. Consider it a polite etiquette reminder to those who you're asking help from to you, a person who in their 6th post hauls off and tells a contributing member of this community that he knows very little of the device he's owned for 2 years and has used about every developer's rom here.
Your response isn't necessary. Just listen - you'll mind well by that.
I see the intentions of your first message, Thank you

i-mate Ultimate 9502

I was checking some website's to find more info about the phone. And I've seen this:
Processor/ Chipset • 400 MHz Qualcomm® MSM 7200™
Does someone has this device. Does it have the video driver fix?? Can we get the drivers trought I-Mate??

Someone????????
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if you dug a little deeper, you would've found that the device still hasn't been released.
Actually none of the Ultimate line has been released as far as I know (and according to asia.cnet.com).
I'm sure we'll be all afire to pick apart the dll's on the phone if it comes with video drivers.

So when it gets released, is it possible to get the driver from there and implement it onto our device? Or is it just a "we can try".

9502
Hey... here in Australia the Tesltra web-site says that the 9502 is having it's world first launch here in Aus... in early March! So maybe the video driver can be grabbed form it after all.....
Telstra also too a full back cover of PC-Authority to advertis ethe device and the 8502 as well... so pretty certain they will be here soon....

thanks for that review. I had been quite interested before impatience got the better of me. Glad I didn't bother waiting!
Slow down guys. Nobody knows anything yet. Several devices use the MSM7200, a few with drivers (LG), none have turned out to be anywhere near a solution, let alone an easy fix. Nothing is for sure until cmonex, oli, chainfire, or a couple other dedicated Kaiser Gurus get there hands on it, see how it was written, what's required, & if it's even possible. Even with the drivers, do we know if the Hardware is there & unrestricted?

So tell us about your i-mate's performance.
Have you tried any games? Watched some videos?
The hardware is different between Kaiser and 9502 even if both are based on MSM7200.
LCD/video is different, Camera probably different, keyboard..etc and it is not like Kaiser and Polaris which are both made by HTC.
Cooking a ROM from different hardware is risky and might lead to a brick.
Please be careful.
Also, if they have the US version it has the MSM7201. The version of the 7200 minus the patent infringing features.

Dreaming the HTC Dream

Already many threads comparing newest gadgets, like diamond vs omnia vs touchpro vs xperia, even vs iphone. Typical 'what device after this' discussion. But i never see thread about the new incoming machine from HTC. Maybe i'm dreaming alone? LoL
Well then, what do you guys think about the rumoured android-powered HTC Dream? I read some articles about it on engadgets and pocketpcthoughts but it seems too little leaked information available.
Anyone knows or can predict it full specs? Will it be worth the title of 'Dream' machine?
For me, a non-WM pda might be called a dream after palm's turned-down point...

Infosync confirmed that T-Mo will release it soon in October!
Where's the enthusiasm, peepz?
Imagine what this can do, we saw some android porting thread in some devices forum, but no phone call function succeed. If this has been released, maybe we can dump and extract the rom? Or kernel, since its linux btw. Next thing you know, you can MAKE and COMPILE the kernel yourself....
I must be dreaming...
I'm dying here!
I have been dying for this phone to come out since I first heard about it in the spring. So, no, you are not alone. I have been trying to get comments since then too. The spec are available online and it will be released on October 13th. It will have Microsoft programs and other "cool" stuff. Been planning for this phone. I expected to pay more and am excited about the 200 dollar price tag. Woo hoo!

No update on the Kaiser - HTC 2009 leak

I'm sorry if I'm being redundant with other posts, but I want to share my frustration. From what I saw from 2009 HTC models leak, there will be no real Kaiser upgrade, meaning an improved device WITH lots of hardware buttons and Quad-band... Only touch-heavy oriented stuff.

Hope you are right, but it kind of resembles more the Dream, doesn't it? The Twin (in terms of design) looked more like it but it seems it doesn't have a keyboard and its purpose (CDMA+GSM) seems to be different. But then this is just speculation. Actually in terms of spec, I think the Xperia was the closest thing lately (but not enough to justify an upgrade IMHO).
Let's wait and see, hoping you are right and that the specs are really an improvement. Thanks.
