Is possible hear radio without cordless for example with a Bluethooth headset?
Like other HTC phones with an FM radio, reception is dependent on having the wired headset plugged in as it is the antenna for the radio. Without it plugged in, you won't get any reception.
I suppose, however I have never tried it, that you could stream the radio over A2DP to a bluetooth headset as long as you have the wired headset plugged in as well to act as the antenna. Maybe you could wrap up the headset and keep it in your pocket plugged into the phone - seems like a pretty bulky solution though.
Hope that helped - good luck!
Thank You PSARGENT but I tried already and don´t work. Anyone knows any trick for it?
Also, if psargent's suggestion works, be careful that the headset you plug in must be one with a microphone built in (e.g. the headset that comes with the Touch Cruise) because it is the cable to the mic that is used as the FM aerial so a simple adaptor that just connects the audio outputs to a 3.5mm jack (e.g. the Boxwave adaptor) will not provide an input to the FM aerial.
Edit: I just saw that our posts crossed and that psargent's suggestion doesn't work.

This is the only part of the phone that I don't like. Why can't you use a BT to listen to the radio. Sure, I can see that it needs the wire for antenna purposes, but why can't you have that plugged in and listen via BT?
I install BTAudio, and hoped that that would solve it, but it didn't...

If you plug in a headset in the PDA, the microphone underneath the PDA is automaticly turned off (because it assumes you have a microphone on the headset).
Is it possible to prevent this?
If i use my own head-phones without mic, i have to unplug it if the phone rings, else i can talk!
Does anyone know?
GeeZuZz,
I use an fm radio cigarette adapter to play my music through my car stereo and when my phone rings I only have to answer it and my mike does not cut out, the caller can hear me fine and I hear them through the car speakers so I know this doesnt totally answer your question but using the headphone out on mine does not cut out the mike.

Hmm... if i answere the phone with the headset plugged in, they can't hear me. But if i disconnect it, and put it slowly in, they can hear me... in other words, theres a software restriction.
Any way to override this? I'll probably never use a headset anyway (the bundled one was crap).
GeeZuZz,
It is a hardware issue. If you look at your headset's plug, you will notice that it is divided into 4 bands.
1. earth(common)
2. Right earpiece
3. left earpiece
4. mic
When inserted into the socket, the bands actually physically cut signals to the speakers and mic in the device (more like a switch).
Because your headphones stll have the same 3.5mm shape, it will also cut signal to the devices on your pda and transfers the signals to your headphones that has only 3 bands (none for mic obviously).
from my experience, i think its up to the jack that you plugged in to the device, if the jack is a stereo (has 3 black rings), the device will think that a mic is present, thus automatically disabling it. but if the jack is mono (2 ring) the mic will still be enable.
Three black rings(4 bands) mean stereo phones + mono mic. Two Black rings( 3 bands) mean stereo phones only.
Hmm... are there any way i can modify the jack, so that it will not disconnect the mic? Like putting some plastic on the piece of the jack where the mic is supposed to make the connection?
Is it possible? sometimes i am walking through the street without the headphone, wanting to hear FM, and i cant...
does anybody know a way?
Wavelengths from radiostations are like a foot or more in length.. so you need an antenna thats atleast a foot or so to pick up those radio waves.
The phone uses the earphones as a antenna, so I guess you have to have it to pickup those waves.
mmm... well just have your headphones, conect them, and place them on your shoulder hanging to your back (it can be inside your clothes so no body see it) and put the phone on speaker (or what ever that its called on the radio program)
anyways the phone doesnt sounds too high, are you going to be able to hear it??

Yea the FM volume is too low to listen outdoors. Anyone has figured out a fix? I don't have that problem with Sling player.
I don't know why, but lately I put the usb>3.5mm converter in my phone and started up the radio, and it worked!
The signal wasn't as strong as with the headset plugged in, but it was decent to say the least. Only stations that already have bad reception don't work (naturally).
So yes, it is possible.

i always listen to stuff (audio and video) using a bt headset after converting all sound to it. i use a software called "bt audio" for that purpose. so, if anybody can find a way to receive fm reception without the headset, that'll be great.

Strange, it doesn't work with my Fuze. I have to still plug in a 3.5mm headphone to get it to work.
Anything change in the registry when you put that in?
It doesn't matter if anything changes in the registry or not. Do this: find an FM radio like one of those cheesy little things with the collapsable antenna. Take off the antenna and then see how many stations you can get. If you don't want to put forth the effort, the answer is "None". There's no difference. No antenna means no stations, period. It also seems that you can't just jam any old USB connector in there, also.
Well, my usb converter is very small and cheap, so I'm sure there's no antenna in there. But still my radio works fine with the converter inserted
It makes no sense, but it works.

I just stick my stylus in my 3.5mm jack and it thinks it has headphones, but the some stations are still weak
What about the TV Out cable?
I have a HTC original TV out cable as long as the headset cable. Does anyone know how to trick the device to see it as an antena for the FM radio? Thank you.
Confirmed - My fuze running Romeos latest ROM works with a simple 3 inch long mini headphone jack (2.5mm) adapter without any headphones. Works great on loudspeaker.

Same here, I plug in my chinese 3.5mm adapter and the radio works so obviously it doesn't need anything for an antenna. Someone must patch that software to get the FM to work without plugging in anything.

Actually that 3.5mm adapter has copper wire in it. Even though it's a short length, the phone still uses it as an antenna. Plug in a pair of headphones and you will see an increase of signal.
you can change the headset state in the registry and i ran the program with it like that and saw that i got signal but no sound was coming out.
The only way i can think of not using ANY headset would be a hardware hack to add some length of antenna to the USB port.
It's really down to physics.. here's a link for TV's: http://www.hdtvprimer.com/ANTENNAS/siting.html
You may be able to get some signal from a few cm of antenna, chances are you're not getting a very good one.

Could you tell me please where in the registry is the key for the headset state ?!
sure thing. its at hklm\system\state\hardware\headset. change to 1 to make it think you have headphones plugged in.
Hi Guys
i'm wondering if using the FM radio facility on my phone will work OK through to Bluetooth A2DP headphones? I know I will still need the cable plugged in to act as an aerial.
mine will not work as bluetooth headset when something is connected to it's headset connector
that seems to agree with everything else i've heard on other forums ..... sadly. Thanks for helping anyay
Hi I have a Samsung SBH-650 Bluetooth stereo Handsfree. I am not able to turn on the FM RADIO, it says "Earphone not connected.
Is there any way i can fix it or GALAXY S wouldn't support radio through bluetooth handsfree.
please provide some suggestions and helps.
I have FROYO 2.2.1

I think there is no way to have fm radio without the earphones.Actually earphones are the antenna for the fm radio.
I recall seeing a hack for this. Search the forums, this isn't the first time this has come up.

Thats what the manual/radio instructions say .

I wish i could listen to the FM radio over my Bluetooth stereo as well.
unfortunately it is not possible
the FM radio will not even work without a 3.5mm plugged in antennae (corded old fashioned stereo headphones, that either breaks apart, or are too cumbersome to carry around..... wires are just so retro)

Dont have a bluetooth set to test this but.
get a pair of normal cheap headphones, cut just the end off plug that into the phone then see if it works with bluetooth.
the reason it asks for headphones is it uses that as the aerial
It can work without them in theory but quality would be lacking.
it gets all staticky
i tried just plugging in an empty 3.5mm spare i had for random projects, and the FM apps does find it, and will start to play FM radio, but quality is worse than 1940s radio
LOL
Then the aerial is needed.
Cut the headphones off and so the wire into your jacket so when in your pocket you can play radio
Sent from my NCC-74656!
You need the headphone connected to act as the aerial...
[edit] My bad - didn't read thread[/edit]
This is what you need : http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/mw600?cc=gb&lc=en#view=overview
They are cheap and the sound quality is great (Hi-Fi), they have a build in FM-Radio. Using them with my SGS, 8 hours of music playback is not bad..
There is no any bluetooth/wireless headphone in the word by which you can hear the FM radio because the cord of wired headphone is act like a antenna/aerial.
But yes there is one solution for this which I tries on my several Nokia and SE P99i phone.Might this will work for you.
Get the 3.5mm headphone jack from the market
Plug this jack to your mobile phone
Now pair your Bluetooth headset
Now start your FM
Please let me know whether it worked or not.

But if you have 3G just use TuneIn Radio! It's free and got almost all radio stations worldwide!

Haha! Well at least your happy! How about buying an extra battery, battery pack or extended batteries?
I Swyped this on my Galaxy S
You're right, I'm happy having my favourite radio station over the bluetooth ... and I'm already using a momax 2700mAh battery.
The part with my battery being not happy is related more to the huge power drain that a constant streaming over 3G is implying in general ... nothing else. Watching a video streaming over 3G is even more power hungry .
Yeah.. us users are to blame , imagine streaming via 3G + bluetooth headset + internet browsing
I will try with this antenna...
I cant put the link, but you can browse:

I have been researching online about using car aux-in cable for making phone calls.
I heard that some phones work and some do not. In those cases, when it doesn't work, it means that the person in the phone cannot hear what you say, because by default the mic is muted when something is plugged in to the jack.
With HTC Sensation, does this happen? Is the phone mic muted when a headset/aux cable is plugged in to the phone? If yes, is there any workaround? What is the general solution to make phone calls via aux cable?
I heard that some people might use the griffin cable with mic, but since my aux port is located where the shifter is, I am not sure how the quality would be. Any idea?
Thanks

well, i hope this answers ur question
i have made calls/received calls via aux (when im listening to music in da car n get a phone call i dont uplug it, just answer)
i talk thru the mic normally and i hear the other person from tha car speakers.
so i guess the mic is not muted
From previous experience - though not with Sensation, as I'm all blue-tooth now, the following was true
If you plug in a normal 3.5mm TRS jack (stereo headphone / line-in / etc) the phone detects it as headphones and not headset, so the device realised there was no "in-line" mic, and used the phone's microphone itself.
A better option (which I did) was to fashion my own lead - using another HTC headset, but removing the two earphones, and soldering the cables to an in-line socket. This worked well, because I had a microphone clipped to me, with remote control for music (don't want to touch the phone when driving now, do we!!) and the stereo audio feed back to the car speakers. Cost me about £3 in total, including the second headset.
I would imagine this to be the same for the Sensation too, as all these sockets have various detection mechanisms, to make the right things happen, depending on what you connect.
Good luck, and safe driving!
