Hi all, as you all know, I host the guide to flash Tornado to WM6 in my free hosting website. Since day 1, the amount of traffic to the website is getting more and more.
Months ago, I would only reach around 40% of the 6gb free bandwidth allocated but recently, it has increased and this month, I have used up all the bandwidth allocated and as the result, my website is temporarily banned for this month. While its alright for this month as the website will be restored in a couple of day when next month begin.
However, soon, the 6gb of bandwidth would not be able to sustain for half a month based on the traffic pattern.
Hence, I am appealing to anyone who can afford to donate to help me pay for the paid hosting. I am only a student and do not have any credit card.
Note that the money would only be used to pay for paid hosting and not for any personal usage. If I am able to get a paid hosting, I would also host the latest ROMS so that it can be downloaded directly using HTTP and not via rapidshare, etc.
I hope that by keeping the guide online, many people can continue to receive the latest update on the ROM developed at xda-developers and many more can flash their phone without bricking their devices.
Payment can be done via paypal to karhoe at msn dot com
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,
I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost.com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?)
Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers?
I am now checking http://www.hosting24.com/ - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them about this question and they say something that "These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems".
What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month..
Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.
if your website is not that complicated then host it your self. it is really not that hard.
how would you host a website yourself
here are the basics. i have my server located at josefcrist.no-ip.org
it is not on right now because it is not hosting any thing but my personal ftp server.

This isn't in the right forum, BTW. There's an off topic forum around for this :-D
I've used godaddy for a while and they've been pretty good, you might want to give them a try...not the best, but good in terms of price, depending on what you're looking for.
Bluehost is known for such crap and paying 10$ is very high.
I prefer followings:webhostingpad.com or hostmonster.com
I don't know about webhostingpad, but I know hostmonster looks rather shady to me. I was looking for hosting a while ago and came across several places that sounded very good, but when I looked them up, for each one, there would be sites saying how bad they are and recommending other hosts, which had the same things said about them on other sites. ("review sites") All in all, the sites look like they were *very* similar, and I think it's just one business selling hosting under many domain names and trying to build "credibility" of one or two names by spitting on another. Look them up and see if you can follow a chain and find a pattern...I don't have any proof on that, but it's my $0.02
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right forum for this idea, but I have a webhost account that I already pay for and get 150gb of space and 1.5tb of bandwidth each month. I host 3 tiny websites on it and have a crapton of space and bandwidth left. In an attempt to give back to the devs on here for all their hard work, I'd like to offer to host ANY ROM for ANY DEVICE on my webserver , free of charge , with no strings attached. My way of saying thanks for doing kickass work all the time. If anyone is interested, send me a PM on here or email me @ [email protected]

Make sure that what you host lacks proprietary binaries, otherwise you could be subject to C&D's.

Thanks for the heads up kind sir.
If that hosting is your generic $10/mo for all you can eat plans, forget it. After the first few roms start consuming some serious bandwidth, your host will find a way to get rid of you. Simply because, most servers have a global 2TB/monthly allotment - so offering 1.5TB to a single account is just plain overselling and are screwed if you use it. I'm pretty sure this is the case because you stated that the websites are small, so chances are you haven't hired your own dedicated servers for them.
Not having a dig or anything, really kind thing to do, just don't want you going through the hassle then getting yourself suspended in the process.

Its godaddy if that makes a diff.... I'm still up for trying
I was thinking of something similar. Give me a little more time to finish up my site. I host my own site from my living room. So I dont pay host fees. Might be able to help out.
Well, I have web hosting service in Thailand.
But it is for Local P2P not for web, so they not offer me an International Bandwidth.
Things I need just 600 baht/month for additional IP Address and International Bandwidth (not sure for the price).
I have 180GB Partition for storage something but I can offer it for storage.
PS. International Bandwidth maybe very bad because I didn't co locating at CAT IDC. The next things is I can offer an unlimit data transfer.
PS2. 34baht=1USD

While we appreciate your gesture, your host will suspend you and you'll lose your data. This is an unfortunately fact, as you appear to believe that you have "unlimited storage" - something that quite obviously does not exist. The majority of hosts that offer this ("unlimited" plans), limit you based on the fact you cannot simply host large files to download, or will suspend you for ToS infractions of excessive CPU, either way they'll get rid of you so they don't lose money. Unfortunately, this is a well known practise called overselling, something we will all fall foul to when purchasing our first hosting package(s).
More specifically, "unlimited storage" is fair share and the more problematic to enforce. Unlimited bandwidth is easy, a full month @ 10Mbits = 3.3TB - a sensible amount. They'll just throttle the server to make sure no-one can use too much bandwidth, if they have to. Realistic servers are around $200/mo/ea and have 4-10TB of BW, even if you bought that, it isn't "unlimited".
Not to rain on your parade, or anything.
thanks benko ^^

already tested
I used 142GB
trust me i got lots of space
my hosting company responded when asked
Other Hosts: "UNLIMITED GB!!!!"
.... to which we had no choice but to reply ....
"UNLIMITED + 50GB!!!!"
Bump/update
To be quite honest... Your host is lying. There is no such thing as unlimited storage or unlimited bandwidth (Unless you're on a very expensive unmetered port).
Anyhow, i think i'v proven with the kitchen that my limit is VERY high
STILL offering this to developers
And now for members to a very good price

WhatsApp is dropping its subscription fees to access the popular messaging service. WhatsApp introduced the fees a few years ago, forcing new users to pay an annual 99 cents subscription after the first year. “As we’ve grown, we’ve found that this approach hasn’t worked well,” admits WhatsApp in a company blog post today.
“Many WhatsApp users don’t have a debit or credit card number and they worried they’d lose access to their friends and family after their first year. So over the next several weeks, we’ll remove fees from the different versions of our app and WhatsApp will no longer charge you for our service.”
...........
Recode reports that if you’ve already paid the 99 cents for the year then there won’t be a refund, but subscription fees will cease immediately.
.....................
WhatsApp isn’t planning to enable third-party ads within the service, and it’s sticking to its original principles. The founders of WhatsApp were strongly opposed to ads, noting back in 2012 that “when advertising is involved you the user are the product.”

How do you think??? How does WhatsApp make money from when is free and ad-free????

They had subscription fees? Funny how I was never charged for that since I got Android in 2013 ?

Yes, even thought we could( whatsapp.cm )use whatsapp freely now. They will get money from other methods.
They will be hard pressed to really make money on it. As they stated. Most of their users have no way of paying for it. Most people that use it are younger or in a developing country. Any chance they had was lost when FB bought them and lost a huge amount of users.
Hi, all members of the XDA community!
I'm founder of firmware.center (Free for all firmware download center) and many other FOSS projects: https://github.com/ZorgeR, like DroidFlasher (XDA).
Firmware.center project goal is to create a free resource for quick and easy access to firmware of any manufacturer and equipment, it's a Wikipedia for firmware.
We do not place advertisements, we do not require access fees, we do not limit the download speed.
Statistics at 19.04.2017:
more than 4000 firmwares downloaded every single day
566 881 users for all time
5.1 million page delivered
75 TB traffic every month
80% server IO load all the month
If you feel that our project is close to you in spirit, spread the information about it among your friends, or if you have such an opportunity, support it financially at Patreon.com or PayPal.
Server cost 110 Euro per month and the price increases every month due to traffic growth.
Therefore, we decided to take advantage of the help of our users due to high costs of project maintenance.
The funds will be used to cover the costs of the project. If we manage to raise enough money, we'll update the hardware.
If this topic was posted in the wrong section or violates any forum rules, please move it to the appropriate section, or simply close it. Just our project really needs community help. We will be happy with any support.

Hello, I know it is too much to ask now that you are just starting, it is just that I couldn't find any other way to contacto you. I really admire your work, it is the most complete firmware site I've ever been but the file I am looking is not there, or anywere. I wanted to know if it is possible for you to upload the Moto E4 XT1764 firmware, thank you very much for your attention.
Site seems to be down. Is this temporary?

Mmmm, Firefox says it can not connect to the server at firmware.center. When I try Chrome, it connects without a problem.
Thanks for testing.

We periodically reboot server to update the software. Usually we write about idle times in our telegram group - https://t.me/FirmwareCenter
