Setting PPC Wallpaper - General Topics

I was wondering if you could have a wallpaper as background and a different one for the start menu instead of using the same image?

Yes, you can, in fact many themes use different backgrounds for these.
You can change wallpapers in some theme editing program (search the forums, i don't remember its name), or simply replace the files in /windows dir:
tdywater_240_320.gif is the portrait mode wallpaper for the background
stwater_240_320.gif is the start menu background for portrait mode
tdywater_320_240.gif is the wallpaper for landscape mode
stwater_320_240 is the start menu background for landscape mode
Actual size of portrait images should be 240x294, and for landscape ones 320x214.
You can also use the same image for both landscape and portrait mode. then it's size should be 320x320, and its name tdywater.gif or stwater.gif (without dimensions in the name). If you try to use such image, make sure that you remove the landscape and portrait ones from /windows.
All these images should be in.gif format.

WM5 : Full screen wallpaper in Landscape mode DIY

When we rotate the screen to landscape, the wall paper will not show completely, the left and the right will not appear!
The method that I found, I post in Thai board : http://www.smart-mobile.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=985168&sid=bafba4b9a8b633b307c50230d8116889
For english version I'll post here.
I used Resco photo viewer to set any picture to be a wallpaper in my XDA Neo. Then, I found 2 files in Device\Windows stwater_320_240.jpg and stwater_240_320.jpg.
stwater_320_240.jpg is the same picture that show in landscape mode with 240x214 pixels (72 pixels/inches)
stwater_240_320.jpg is the same picture that show in portrait mode with 240x294 (72 pixels/inches)
From stwater_320_240.jpg, I know the reason why in landscape mode the wallpaper cannot be shown full!!! Because the size is not match to the screen on landscape mode!!!
In landscape mode the wallpaper size should be "320x214" pixels.
So I create two new wallpapers from one is size 240x294 for portrait and onother is 320x214 for landscape with the same resolution (72pixels/inches).
These two file can be not the same picture (I create each from differ pictures).
Then name the picture size 320x214 to stwater_320_240.jpg
and name the picture size 240x294 to stwater_240_320.jpg
Copy these two the files to replace in Device\Windows and Soft reset your PDA.
You'll see a nice wallpaper in landscape mode by your hand.
I've not try with WM2003 so I don't know it will work on 2003 or not.

Wallpaper for both landscape & portrait Sense 2.5 ?

Hi all,
I don't find a way to install a wallpaper which will work for both portrait AND landscape Sense 2.5 (from new 2.02 Leo package) :
I've try to use a "normal" wallpaper (480x800) but in landscape, there's a dark bar in the right (because the screen switch on 800x480).
I've try to use a 800x800 wallpaper (to make it able with 480x800 AND 800x480), but doesn't work either. A dark bar still in the right when landscape is activated.
Finally, I've try to install some *.cab(s) you can find in this forum, which are supposed to install both portrait and landscape wallpaper in Manilla. It didn't worked...
I can add a wallpaper when landscape (or portrait) mode is activated (Menu > home wallpaper > etc.) but it change allways the wallpaper for both mode. In fact,, the wallpaper is allways the same in landscape and in portrait.
So anybody has a good idea (or found a way to make it working) ?
I'm interested too for this!

change background in Max manila V2.81...
Wallpaper - there are 3 types of wallpaper here.
a. BG4all - this is the wallpaper which will automatically load up when you select through MENU/Home Wallpaper/Weather Wallpaper. Wallpaper will show on all tabs and is fullscreen on v2.8 onwards. If you leave it, it will not display anything. Setting is "B".
*****You can also now remove the BG4all wallpaper by accessing the Menu/Home Wallpaper and select "Remove Wallpaper". This will also leave the screen blank.
b. Full - the file is a 1024x768 size jpg called "MaxBackground.jpg". This wallpaper will fill up fullscreen and all tabs. It is used in 3 different functions.
* "P" - stands for panoramic. When this is activated, you can swipe left/right to pan the wallpaper.
* "F" - stands for full. It will remain still at where you have previously panned.
* "H" - stands for home only. This wallpaper will only show in home and the other tabs will have the default wallpaper (read below)
c. Default - this is the manila wallpaper that requires app like HDWall to create. Rather than using the latest file of 512x1024, I have reworked a fullscreen default wallpaper using the old filenames. If you are using HDWall, go to config and select profile "TouchFLO v2.5 BETA - No Compression - All Tabs".
* 4bfcbbee_manila
* 54612042_manila

i used hdwall with old sense version but i had a problem, when i install the cab and reset phone today bg instantly switch to the old animated wallpaper i had and the one in the cab its showed for half second before sense loads the old one..how to fix that? atm i load the pic through animated wallpaper but has a big quality loss

Anyway to combine these apps?

I want to be able to change wallpaper over a fixed amount of time using wallpaper changer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wallpaperChanger&hl=en and also have different wallpaper for landscape and portrait using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.livecubesfirst&hl=en \
Is that possible?
I believe you will need the source code for the first application, as for normal (portrait) settings, it will cycle through your selected images. But you want to have a different wallpaper for landscape so you will need to implement a feature in the code. Basically you will need to add a selector for landscape mode wallpaper. And apply the function when your device is changed to landscape it changes automatically.
You can try and look for an app that does this. But I doubt there is much you can do.
