Confirmation message box before sending SMS? - General Topics

Is there any way to enable confirmation message box when I click the left "Send" soft key on the display?
This can happen accidentaly because "Send" button is located just under the T9 button on the HTC Numeric Keyboard and I really don't want to send empty or incomplete messages...
Thank You

SMS "send" button accidental press...

for those who use on-screen keyboard on devices such as HTC Touch, the "send" button is very close to the lower side of the keyboard and it sometimes happen that I accidentally press "send" before I finish composing a message is there a way to either set a timer on the button (i.e. having to press it for 200 ms in order to send the message) ?
also, is there a way to delete all sent sms without emptying the inbox (apart from selecting all messages and pressing delete, of course...) ?

I don't think there is.. sorry. Its actually a pretty good idea cause I do that a lot too on my Tilt
ok to avoid this problem, i now use Pocket CM which is pretty good (except for a few bugs to be ironed out in next release), it requires a 250 ms "send"press
and by the way, if you want to empty only one of your sms folders ("sent" for exemple) without clearing the inbox, go get "inbox extender" at MoDaCo !

I've tried that before. It won't work.
before opening the message in the inbox folder, press and hold the message until the menu pops up. "forward" is one of the options there.
or tap menu>reply>forward

What he said. You have to highlight a particular part of the actual thread BEFORE you can see the forward. (He doesn't mean highlight the message in your inbox.)

But tapping the name will bring out the contact's detail menu. You will need to close the contact details to see the highlighted blue message. Anyway to prevent it from opening the contact details?
Sorry, I found it. You actually need to drag and highlight the sender's name and message..
This used to anger me to no end, as I forward a lot for work. I would try the highlighting and everything but still get the greyed out forward option.
The simplest option is to just open the message and simply press the up key once and it highlights the last message received in blue. You can then forward it. No need to highlight any text or name.
SMS forwarding in HTC diamond
YES it works.... on my HTC diamond....
open the SMS press the "up" key once, go to the menu and
"forward option is "un-grayed"
I have been trying for a solution since long... but this one worked....
thanks XDA

Text Message alert soft buttons

Sorry if this is an easy fix, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. When I get a new text message, the soft button on the left comes up as "reply" (the right is menu) is there a way to change this to "view" as sometimes I don't want to reply to a text, but do want to view the whole message.
Also, is there a way to add a shortcut (or change one of the soft buttons on the today screen) to start a new text message?
Thanks
intresting question got the same problem
I would like this too!
Check out this thread:

You basically should create a new shortcut as a program that has the command to invoke a new SMS. You can then use something like Schap's Advanced Config Tool to assign that shortcut to one of the soft keys. You can also assign it to one of the hardware buttons if you want.
You should also try searching. If you type "new sms shortcut" you will get many links to the solution.
Thanks, but that doesn't solve the main problem, in that when I get a new sms, the notification window comes up, and the left soft button is "reply" and the right is "menu" (which does not have a view option) so to view the message, I have to get rid of the notification, go into messaging, and then open the message. What I'd like to be able to do is when the new sms notification comes up, I'd like the left soft button to be "view" so I can just hit that and go straight to the message.
If the entire message is visible in the notification window it doesn't give you an option to "View", that's when you get "Reply". If you get a really long text message that doesn't completely show in the notification window, the "Reply" button will be a "View" button that will take you into Messaging to view the entire message. I'm not sure how to always have it be the "View" button.
gringolian, if you find something to change the reply to view, then let me know!

"Horizontal menu" keeps popping up when using keyboard

When I slide my keyboard out and press the "messages" button the text messages appear but when I wait a while or push a button on the keyboard the special "horizontal" menu pops up again and I have to start over with my text message. Is there a way to get rid of this bug?
yes very annoying!
anyone found a fix for this??
I agree and think this is a problem with WM6. Bump

Touch screen not working - how to send SMS with keyboard?

I have full functionality except the touch screen which means i can open the device and use the keyboard to do almost everything. I can get to the point to type an SMS but is there a shortcut key to send it? Since I cant touch send on the screen I have no idea how to send it
No. The only way is to install an application called "VirtuaMouse" and use the arrow keys to move the pointer to the left "send" softkey. you then just press "enter" on the keyboard or the round action button to send the SMS.
