Hi everybody,
Hoping someone can help with this.
Tried searching, but couldn't find anything.
On WM5, in week view in the default calendar, I could tap on a block appointment and the top bar would show what the appt was.
However, ever since upgrading to WM6, in week view in the default calendar, whenever I tap on a block that represents an appointment it would automatically open up the appt. I don't want that. I just want to see what the appt is in the bar. If I use the d-pad it would highlight the appt and show what it is without opening up the appt.
Anyone know of a fix to this? I don't want to install a 3rd party software as I was quite happy with the calendar the way it was.
I couldn't find anything in the options in Calendar...

When I reset and sync my XDA2 there is no highlight in the calender to show an entry. When I go into the day view I see the entires, mostly birthday and anniversary entries and a few meetings etc.
Is there a way to get them to be highlight in the month and yearly view as in Outlook 2000 on my PC. It should show a wee triangle or square on the PPC Outlook according to the book.
Its used a lot by me to review the month and see the dates that are highlighted.
Please help asap,
Thanks,
IrishLad
i believe if they are made as birthdays and such in contacts then they always display like that
They used to display the boxes on the monthly view
They used to display the notifications boxes under the monthly view before I reset and reinstall the XDA2. I'm 90% sure they did.
A triangle for the mettings and a box for birthdays and anniversaries.
So can anyone confirm this?
well mine dont display birthdays and such under the calander
and i get a triangle if the meeting is not for that long
and a square if it's an all day event
not sure why birthdays are not shown
Strange
I am very sure it used to until I reset. Must have just been the meetings I could see then.
It is very useful to be able to review the mouth view and see dates that have entires. Just gonna have to manually check them in advance or change all my reminder dates.
If anyone else has any ideas if this can be done let me know.
Thanks
Birthdays wont display any shape because the STATUS field is by the default FREE. If you try to edit the STATUS field of a birthday entry into something that is not FREE, then it will display a box.
Now, if anyone of you knows how to configure your outlook or XDA wherein auto-generation of birthday entries from Contacts to Calendar will have a non-FREE status, please let me know so we could all see birthday indicator in our calendars. Then everybody's happy
I had them all changed in outlook to Tentative, so they would display an empty square.
two things happened :
- installing Pocket Informant & de-installing
- a hard reset
and then I noticed they were all set to free again & synced to outlook, so I had to change them all manually again.
if you shell out for a program such as KitaraGenesis, you can have a today screen plugin showing all kinds of different events / birthdays etc. It works through the Cal database so anything you put in Outlook's calendar will show through in KG. I bought it a year ago and I think it's great. It even links tasks.
Cheers
Anthony
Make sure that you sync the past 4 weeks of appointments and don't have any category filters on.
I use PI myself, I can recommend that for your needs too.
Cheers
Hi everyone. I maintain all birthdays and anniversaries for my contacts in the contact details. But somehow, they automatically become reminders. How can I set the phone up (including Outlook on PC) to not to make reminders out of birthdays and anniversaries, but still have them in calender as annual events (without reminders)?
Using Kaiser, WM6 (Alex's Clean ROM); PC has Vista, Outlook 2007.
Not positive about Outlook 2007, but in 2003 (which is where I'd change them), once you open the calendar hit, there is a "reminder" box which, if unchecked, will not provide a reminder for the event. You'll want to make sure you open the series, not the individual event before unchecking the reminder box.
That's just ur way of saying you don't wan't to rember you'r anniversarie lol..

Thanks debs, but I already knew that method of disabling reminders, but the problem is that it has to be done for all of them one by one, which is very annoying if you, let's say, hard reset and restore your contacts, it syncs with outlook and then you have your reminders again; or let's say you add new contact in either pc or ppc, sync and another set of reminders.....
I was looking for something that would disable the automatic reminder.
I use SPB diary for these events to be displayed on today screen, so don't really need to reminded at midnight that someone's birthday or anniversary is coming up!

I have the same problem. The main problem is not that it reminds me. I need it to remind me. But I don't want it to remind me at midnight. I want to be reminded at 10 AM for example.
And you are right, we should be able to set reminder for a category of reminders such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, etc..
Anyone has a solution for this?

Hi Damac,
You've probably figured this out by now, but ...
1) In Outlook: Tools -> Options...
In the calendar section there's a checkbox for default reminder. That needs to be unchecked to prevent any new calendar items from getting a reminder. Unfortunately this affects all new items; Birthdays, meetings, etc. You may wish to leave this on and just periodically kill off the annual events that you don't need a reminder for.
2) In Outlook: Calendar mode. View -> Current View -> Annual Events (or Events).
This will show a table of all annual events.
Right click on the heading bar (Subject, Location, Recurrence, etc) and select field chooser.
This will open another floating dialog with extra fields that can be added to the table.
Find "Reminder" in the field list and drag it to the heading bar in a suitable spot.
Now any event that has a reminder will have a little alarm bell icon in the reminder field.
You can single click each of those icons to turn off. It's easier than it sounds and most annual events you won't want a reminder for anyway as the alarm always goes off at midnight!
3) On the PPC: This is for a 6.1 version, but it's similar on all of them.
Start -> Settings. Personal tab. Sounds & Notifications.
Sounds tab. This section alows you to turn off sound for all alarms and notifications.
Notifications tab. Select the 'Reminders' event. This allows you to choose the sound that plays and also whether the sound repeats, light flases & vibrate.
Since I do want to be notified of important days, I've just unchecked the repeat box. There's nothing more annoying than being woken up at midnight by a constant notification alarm about Aunt Bessie's birthday. I can put up with a single alarm, but not a repeating one!
Just like the previous poster, I'm also looking for a way of getting the all day events notifications to activate at a time other than midnight...
Cheers,
Anthony
Anyone got a solution to this?
I want it to remind me at a time I select too. Not midnight.
*push*
Me too. Same problem with annoying reminders at 23:45...
Greets,
Puschel
When I was still using the IMate Jam (can remember the operating system) it had a option to set the reminder time for all day events.
Why did they change something that worked.
I wish I can get that code of the imate en add it to my HTC Touch pro 2 (WM6.5)

I'm like yourself, I want to be reminded of families birthdays, anniversaries etc but don't want to be reminded at 12.00am.
To stop this I sync'ed my device with Outlook and then changed the reminder notification time to 0.5 days for each birthday/anniversary
Tip, when you open a birthday/anniversary....make sure you click on 'open the series'
Also, you can change the default notification time so for any new birthdays/anniversaries the default time will be set to whatever you choose, i.e. in my case 0.5 days

Thanks. I am doing this already as a work around. But I want the reminder to ring on the day of the birth day not the day before. The Imate Jam (WM 2003) had a setting " all day begin at .... "
My employer uses Intellisync to provide access to corporate e-mail on pda's. It took some doing, but it is now running properly on my Fuze. However, Intellisync places the e-mail in an odd folder called "Outlook E-mail." This folder does not show up as an account in Messaging and can't be accessed by the email tab in TF3D. I can only get to my e-mail by using the right arrow to scroll through accounts, opening the Intellisync client or opening the "Show" tree view and selecting the Outlook E-mail folder. Anyone have any ideas on getting WM6.1 to see this as a real account?
Another odd thing about Intellisync is that it won't scroll. That is, within the client program, if a page is longer than the screen, I can't get to the unseen part. I move the slider down, and it just pops back up. I press the down arrow to scroll down and nothing happens other than the down arrow momentarily changing color. I assume this is some weird remnant from the process of porting from Symbian to WM6. Anybody know what is going on?
Thanks to Mango's multiple calendar support and Windows Live Birthday Calendar, my friends' birthdays show up on my lock screen and home screen, and i didn't have to do a single thing (beside keeping my contact list synced and organized), which is great. However, all the birthday events come with a default 12-hour reminder, which my phone notifies me, and its annoying. How do i collectively disable the reminders for all my birthday events?
Same thing has been happening to me. I think its Windows Live Calender setting/issue. Unfortunately, I don't think you can collectively disable them. I think the only way to get rid of it is to go into each birthday in your windows live calender and turn off the notification for that individual.
I found the solution (running Mango 7.5), you go into the Calender, hit the "..." on the bottom right, go to Settings and you can choose to disable birthdays or all of Windows live reminders on the calendar as well.

Thanks.. it worked for me too.. I am not sure what is the default.. I have two HTC Titans, one had it On, and other off..
Disabling the Calendar altogether is another story. It was asked if we can disable notifications for any single calendar or event.
As for disabling notifications of a specific calendar, unfortunately it cannot be done on the phone. You will have to navigate to Calendars in Hotmail and manage notifications from there
You will be presented with options when you select a single calendar and you can easily manage all your notifications (add, edit or remove). You can even send Hotmail to send you notifications via Mail or on your devices via software reminders.
I have personally tested this but have realized that even though i Disabled notifications for the Birthday Calendar of mine, notifications are still pushed to the device.
each account (settings->emails and accounts) has an option to sync contacts, emails and or calendars, right? can't you just can't you just remove calendar from sync settings..
My S3 had a menu button to the left of the Home key, and one of the choices offered was to sync the calendar. (I have it linked to an Exchange server). In the S6 there is no menu button next to the Home key, and while the calendar has a menu icon, there is no option to sync manually.
The only way to sync is through Options/Accounts/..., i.e. one has to leave the calendar, sync and come back.
What am I missing? How can they just drop this essential option? Even with a sync schedule one often wants to make sure everything is fully up-to-date when using the calendar.
Related question: is the Calendar program from Samsung or is it standard Android? I know Google offers a Calendar app on Play.
Did you ever get an answer to this? Because I am having the same problem.
As you can see from the thread, no one answered. However, I downloaded Google Calendar from Play and it is different from the calendar that comes with the phone. Both appear in the list of apps with the same name (Calendar) but different icons. The downloaded app does have an option to sync.
Thanks! That worked. I just think it's irritating that they would do away with that feature.
