flash raw rom - HTC Vox

I have a no brand htc s710 with 1.15 italian-english UK-english US rom. I'm going to flash with 1.27 ARA rom in the next days. If i will want resume my original rom in the future i think i can flash the one i found on ftp xda site that is just the same of my original rom (1.15 italian-english UK-english US). I downloaded it but it is in .raw and comes with 3 .raw files. What is the tool to flash the raw roms? Can i use the USPL tool or there's the need to convert it in .exe??

no one can help me??

You have to extract the raw! Look in the wiki on how to dump the ROM. There you will find this line:
E:\Documents\itsutils>pdocread -w -d DSK1: -p Part02 0 0x3567000 Part02.raw
It extracts the raw from the ROM into a folder, you just have to adjust it to the location of your *.raw files! But I don't know how you get the 0x3567000, because that was a different number for my ROM, so I don't know if it is the same for your file! Then you get one folder with all files and you can sort it with pkgtools. Look in the Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Vox_HowToDumpRom

ok..thank you! So after running pkgtools i'll get the SYS and OEM folders but, ok, but...how can i flash this extracted rom to my phone??

I have never done it, but it should work. But you should ask Dr Martin Gonzo.
Get the kitchen and replace the SYS and OEM folder and build a ROM. But first ask in the kitchen thread!

ok thank you very much! But i'm surprised that people who flashed his vox didn't face this problem yet. Don't you feel the need to be able to restore the original htc rom, one day, just in case, to benefit the htc support?

You can't flash the .raw
But I found another way to dump and flash a ROM.
You will need a special USPL which can raw dump to SD and Winhex to read the raw dump to file. Tomorrow I will post the details.

Yes, I know, I can`t flash .raw file. Above I posted steps I took to create a .nb file from .raw and error I get.
Please take a look.
Other way, can I use:
Code:
pdocwrite -w -d FLASHDR -p Part02 0 0x3586800 Part02.raw
to flash part02.raw to device? I know it`s not save, but will it work?
The .raw files I have come from other Vox with diferent rom version, that`s why I want to flash it, so I`m not iterested to dump my rom.
Thank

Cooking Recontructed ROM - same size ?

Hi,
I am cooking for my perosnla use a anew ROM; but have some problems with it. Using the VF_UK_3.08.161.0_radio_sign_25.74.40.02_1.64.08.21 ROM and KaiserKitchen provided by Alex.
What have I done.
1. Extract RUU_signed.nbh and edited OEM\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat for changing the program folder and the links.
2. Cooked and flashed a new ROM. Works fine.
BTW: Many thanks for this forum !!!
3. Installed new CABs (approx. 20 new Cabs)
4. Dumped with pdocread.exe the files Part00.raw, ..., Part04.raw.
5. Put RUU_signed.nbh (from point2), Part01.raw and Part02.raw in BaseRom folder and extract them. (I took the option b from the extract menu).
6. Cook a new ROM.
But this ROM has the same size like the ROM from point 2.
I thought Part01 and Part02 includes my new installed CABs within the OS.
I have searched the forum, but I have found unfortunately nothings which helps me.
Any hints, any tips ?
Many mans thanks

as far as i understand,if you dump a rom you dump the "base" rom, not the installed cabĀ“s.
if you want more programs in your rom you have to put the oem-packs in your kitchen!
The dump include OS (OEM, ROM & XIP data), Radio, SPL. The dump is reading rom files.
To add things you need to create packages for them. Read the wiki or thread about package maker.
Thanks to all .... I thought I can go this way.

I think you can. We talked about that, and I think it would be better option to do that way, because it's faster to include all progs, tweaks and release a new ROM. Also I think most people rather likes to create OEM packages, but dumping full ROM would be excellent option. This days I think I will have some free time to try that. Like "austinsnyc" told me in some older post, IMGFS tools could be help us to do that.
There is link what we talked about:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376685
We can help each other in progress. If we will be successful I will create tutorial.
Let me know how that works out

where are .dsm files?

Sorry for my English ...
I'm trying to learn how to build a kitchen and I followed the BEPE's guides perfectly but I have a problem:
When I use "NBHextract.exe" on "RUU_signed.nbh" the file that I get is "00_OS.nb" and not "OS.nb" as in BEPE's guide, same for the file "00_OS.nb.playload" has the same characteristics, and I know not explain why.
Also, I can not use in any way the "packagebuilder" tool to rebuild the "xip" folder because after having dumped "00_OS.nb.playload" the xip folder that I know, does not contain within it the file "*. dsm " essential to the operation of the tool.
can someone help me? (sorry but I translate before answering for now)
Thank you!
PS: other problem..
When I use "Dump_800" on "00_OS.nb" the files that I get are "00_OS.nb.playload", the IMGFS folder and the IMGFS.BIN.
This IMGFS.BIN was to be automatically erased at the end of the process of dumping, but strangely still active and has a size of about 63 MB, and in the prompt window, at the end of the process of dumping, i read this:
C:\xxxxxxxxxx\IMGFS.BIN
Access denied.
Where I wrong?
Thanx 4 all..
Any idea?...
Anything?...
That relief, then I am not the only one who does not understand anything!

What rom are you trying to dump? if it is a custom rom....built by the new kitchen, it won't be dumpable. You will have to get a base from a chef or dump a factory rom.

I downloaded this "RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship", which should be the Official HTC ROM for TYTN II (my device), but I have the same errors described in the first post using the BEPE's kitchen!
What do you mean by "You will have to get a base from a chef?
I do not believe that any chef would give me his base, should give me the entire folder containing the kitchen built! Or not?
sorry for my english...
I try to dump the various types of ROM, but I always make the same mistakes! I do not know how ... believe me I tried all possible solutions!
But I do not surrender ... sooner or later arrive at a solution! Even at the cost of start over with another kitchen!
How many kitchens are there? tell me if you know there are others beyond that of bepe?
I am having the same issue with Bepes kitchen - I have the official signed rom from Sprint for the Mogul and every time I try to use dump_800.bat on the OS.nb file, it fails and says access is denied...

There is KaiserKitchen by _Alex_ or KaiserChef by mbarvian and a few others - They both exist on the Wiki.
If the IMGFS.bin won't delete it's not that bad, just try and delete it afterwards.
If you are getting 00_OS.nb it might not be the orginal nbh you are dumping. I get 03_OS.nb when I dump the 3.34 HTC Kaiser ROM (which I rename to OS.nb before dumping). I also get 00_Unknown.nb, 01_SPL.nb 02_MainSplash.bmp (and .nb). Do you get any other nb files?
What the link for the ROM, and why are you using that one for the base? There are newer builds (like the 3.34).

There are a few tutorials on porting the SYS and XIP. The concept in bepe's kitchen videos is the same for the SYS in most kitchens (be aware of resolution and language specific files).
For the XIP, have a read around, there are many threads and tutorials on how to do it. But normally the XIP and SYS versions should match (or be very close).

Customise "chef friendly" ROM?

I apologise up front if this has been answered elsewhere, but I have searched high and low without any luck...
A number of ROMs are so-called "chef friendly" ROMs, i.e. they can supposedly be extracted with the .dsm and .rgu files intact, packages neatly in folders, etc.
I would like to customise one of these for myself, but I'm not having any luck.
I am using Alex's kitchen to extract the ROM, and I've tried these methods:
1. ruu_signed.nbh in the BaseROM folder, option 'a' on the Extraction menu.
2. Cooked ruu_signed.nbh in the BaseROM folder, and dumped part01.raw and part02.raw from the cooked ROM, using option 'b' on the Extraction menu.
3. Shipped ruu_signed.nbh in the BaseROM folder, and dumped part01.raw and part02.raw from the cooked ROM, using option 'b' on the Extraction menu.
I manage to get OEM, ROM and SYS folders which look fine. Initially I am just trying to recook these using the kitchen, with no changes. I am including the splash from the cooked ROM as well, but my NBH is about 3MB smaller than the cooked NBH I extracted from. There are no errors in the build process, flash works 100%, but the phone refuses to boot fully, it just gets stuck at the splash screen with the RGD numbers.
I have read the dumping and reconstructing threads, but obviously I am missing something important, I just cannot see what it is.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Please identify the ROM you are trying to extract so we can help.
I am trying this using gullum's TF2D II.
I can't find it now, but I definitely saw gullum state in a previous thread that all his ROMs are chef friendly, so I just chose that ROM because of that. Ultimately though, I'm not particularly fussed which ROM I use for this, it's just for my own use.
I know for sure that mine works because I do that a lot since the initflashfiles.dat changes after cooking the ROM, and I could try out gullum's for you. If you want I can put the folders in a RAR file and upload them for you . Oh and whenever I was cooking and my phone didn't boot the culprit was a registry error with opera, just in case you want to know.

That would be awesome. Or you could just let me know what additional steps I am missing. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, I'm just a bit stumped, being relatively new to all this.
no what you are doing sounds right. I'm not sure what the problem is. I will just re-cook the ROM to make sure it works and then put up the folders. I'm about to go on vacation though so expect it mabye by Mon. or I may do it on vacation since I have an unlimited data plan for my phone and I am bringing my laptop
Not to worry, for some reason it's working now. I have already ripped out a few bits that I don't want and added a few that I do want, and so far my phone has been stable for about 4 hours.
Thanks for the offer anyway.
you do NOT need to rebuild the Part01 and Part02 raw files. All you need to do is set the .nbh as your base
