In this thread there is a great little program by jcaron to change 1st screen, animated .gif splash, and welcomehead.96.png final splash screen, for Artemis boot-up sequence. Makes it very simple and easy to change any of these 3 items at will.
I tried it on my Tilt - no joy, but no brick.
Anyone of the programmer types interested in having a go at making a similar application for the Kaiser/Tilt?
UP!
I'm interested too...

Well, yes, we knew about that . . . but the program I was referencing is a standalone program that makes the process simple, as well as aesthetically pleasing.
Plus i have never been able to overcome this:
6. Pack the resulting splash.nb into a NBH file using htc rom tool.
Any help?

No there isn't an all in one program that takes and image and spits out a nbh file. All three programs you need are bundled together in my 4shared folder. takes less than a minute after you have an image resized to 240x320.

After 2 days of messing with this and learning more about flashing ROMS than I ever wanted to it finally worked!!!
If you messed up by not SuperCID(ing) your phone before you flashed it because you didn't follow directions like me, here is a solution that i had to dig up from various forums and threads to get your phone back to WM5.
1. Downloaded the imate wm5 from here:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/smartphones/Tornado/Shipped_Complete_Updates/I-mate
2. Downloaded the Typhoonnbftool...just google it. I used version .4.
3. Find out what your original CID id is by using the Ttermpro. (make sure the Allow USB Connections is unchecked in Activesync...i spent an hour trying to get ttermpro to work)
refer to this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319588
4. Now run the typhoonnbf tool. File > Open the .nbf file you downloaded in step 1. (imate wm5)
Tools > Edit Data Header
Change the Operator to match what your SuperCID id is (Step 3) and type in 99.99.99.99 (i'm sure any high number will work here) in the "Image Version" field as well as the "Secondary Version" in the header of the .nbf. (i'm not sure if the Secondary version is necessary, but i did it anyway to be safe)
Sample of what it should look like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5. Save the file under a different name in the same directory. Move the orignal .nbf file to a safe location. Rename the edited version to nk.nbf
6. Run the ROM update utility and it should work
Good Luck and don't give up hope.
Hi All... I didnt notice and i tried to run ((Artemis_Touch_Vanilla_4.02.zip)) this ROM on HTC touch and its got stuck on HTC logo screen and says OS 3.13.0.0 .... Please help me... i have tried to restart and tried what ever possible but nothing is working it comes back to same screen...Please help ...please
the thing is it does not go the three color screen...it straight comes to the HTC logo screen and then in about 3 or 4 seconds comes OS 3.13.0.0 and then thats it its on the screen for ever....I cant click on anything its does not even restart with the power button on top...i can reset or take out the battery to shut down.....what do i do now...please help me
512k nbf
Hi
After I edit the nk.nbf file the resulting file is only 512k so the rom updater won't load it.
What do I do?
try using another version of typhoonnbftools
1. Downloaded the imate wm5 from here:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/smartph...Updates/I-mate
The link doesn't seem to work for me. It poped up "error 503: permission denied".
Does anyone have the same problem. Where else can I get an imate wm5? Thanks a lot

Use ftp://[email protected]
you should be asked for login details, use xda as user + password
then navigate the folders starting with the smartphone then Tornado links, you should be able to find it from there.
New problem
I got another version of Typhoonnbftools and successfully edited the header of the file. Flash seemed to go fine right up until reboot. It restarted and displayed o2 splash screen (which should have been overwritten by the imate rom) and continues to bootloader.
Any more suggestions anyone?
wat i still dnt understand is that wen i run tera term pro i dnt no where to type the info 2
my problem now is how to know my tornado cid pffff
Using the tools and info from pfcsabre and the below link I created some initial splash screen .nbh files. This replaces the very first picture you see when you turn on your phone and displays your radio version and such. If you want to make your own use this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=436105
Since I spent a little bit of time making these files and other files I haven't uploaded yet, I figured I would share them. I will probably upload more later.
Instructions: - Make sure your phone is Hard-SPL
1. Download the RaphaelCustomRUU.zip and unzip it to the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file.
2. Download one of the Splash.zip files and unzip it to the same folder as the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file (Make sure there is only 1 .nbh file in the same folder as the .exe,,, if you download multiple splashes put them in a subfolder)
3. Connect your phone to your PC and Run the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe file and follow the prompts. Its the exact same method as burning a ROM, but these files only replace the Splash screen and nothing else.
4. It will take about 20-30 seconds to burn and your phone will reboot displaying the pics in full 480*640 resolution.
5. These look incredible when you first boot up your phone.

I just overwrite the image to what the default boot screen was. (You can find out what the original filename was somewhere in Advanced Config)

This process changes the 1st boot screen, the one with the red letters in the lower right corner. It cannot be done within Windows by overwriting a file, it must be burnt in. When turning on your phone you can have up to 4 pictures, This boot screen process, follow by up to 2 splash screens (usually windows & operator splashes), then your wallpaper.
7/11: I have posted new versions of each. The white is toned down a bit to match the HTC EVO emblem, and not be overwhelming. And both fonts have been smoothed so it looks much better.
I also changed the file in each zip to contain the correct name so those of you having problems should be able to run the command without changing filenames.
Mirrors also added!
Hey guys, I made this to represent xda when I boot
Thought I would share
The files attached can be flashed through bootloader.
Boot your phone into fastboot (hold vol up key while powering phone on, select fastboot)
Now open command. To verify your computer is recognizing your phone, type
Code:
fastboot devices
This should list your device. After that, you want to unzip the file you downloaded and place it in your android sdk tools folder.
Now, back in command, change to your tools directory and enter
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash.raw565
Remember to back up anything you don't wanna lose, and nandroid. Not responsible for anything that happens if you don't
That said I have flashed it and it works.. enjoy

Are you booted in fastboot? Did you put the raw file into your sdk folder?
If not maybe it needs the original raw file in there too.. I didn't think it should tho. If you wanna try I have attached it. You could try dropping that in tools too and running the same command. Even though thats not the file its looking for.. so it leads me to believe one of previous should fix it
It looks awesome. I think I will leave that one on there for a while. Well at least a couple of days
I flashed mine a little differently though. I changed the name of the file to evosplash1.rgb565 and ran
fastboot flash splash1 evosplash1.rgb565

I have a desaturated theme going on so the orangish color won't work. Might use it in the future... unless you want to make a black/white version <3

I think I figured out your problem. I forgot I changed the names of these files before zipping them so you will need to change them to splash and then run the command. I've added new versions anyway with the correct file names so you can try those too.

Black and white for me, worked like a charm. Thanks.
This is simply an 'unrevoked' inverted splash1. Black background with white text. This will replace your current splash1 that normally says 'HTC Incredible'.
S-Off Required
Installation:
Download the PB31IMG.zip here, and place it on the root of your SD card.
Power-down your phone, and boot into HBOOT. (Hold 'vol-down' and tap 'power')
When prompted if you would like to run the update for 'splash1', tap 'vol-up' to begin the update.
When prompted, reboot via 'vol-up' and enjoy the inverted splash!
The update process should take less than 5 seconds. Remember to remove/rename the PB31IMG.zip once complete, so that you do not get prompted to update every time you load hboot.

Just wanted to thank you for this; I liked showing the love for UnrEVOked, but the white screen always bugged me (even with stock). New version worked like a charm and looks great.
Thanks for the stock flash too; I'd been hunting for that as a backup in case the worst happens and I have to feign innocence at a Verizon store. Having a stock splash screen will make that much easier!

I downloaded your link from above, the stock splash screen, i follow the instructions and I am not getting an UPDATE prompt.
I renamed the file to the EVO filename also.
Welcome!
Soo, it's time for some more custom blingbling..! - Pictures of each will be below.
I will continue on from my easy and sexy Umbrella Corp splash! (Link in sig) - If you want some links and info on how to do these, please read in the comments of that thread, I also gave thanks to the people who needed it, in there.
I'll do a quick install guide plus some info on when these splashscreens will not work for you. There's happened a lot since the GB days, sadly.. So this will take some time for you to do. Involving some ROM flashing and so on. :/ Sorry. - If you're on a stock ICS rom, you may get away without flashing any roms around, since it's.. Stock Samsung..
Install and explanation + short troubleshoot, yeah..
Okay.. You're on some awesome rom like AOKP or Asylum or CM10, when you realize you could do with a new, fun splashscreen. This is where you need to stop and think about it.. Is it worth downloading and flashing an old firmware just for this? If it is, keep on reading. The idea of this CWM flash is to rewrite the param.lfs file inside /system/mnt/.lfs, in order to do so, we sadly need an older stock GB firmware. You will get back to your daily driver afterwards, but this step is needed. So.. Yeah.. Make sure you don't get the triangle on the flash. There are numerous ways to avoid this.. Mobile Odin being a really sexy one. If the param.lfs file isn't rewritten, it won't take your custom splash .jpg into consideration and you will be stuck with a "draw_fail_logo01 as your splashscreen. This won't in any way damage the device, it just really sucks and will require you to reflash an old GB rom anyways in order to even get the old GT-N7000 splash back. So yeah.. If you wanna do this, do it right from the beginning to save yourself some time.
But hell, we're all flashing pro's, amirite?
So.. Proper root and yellow triangle is all that will stop you from flashing these.
Basically what this file does: Replaces one jpg with another jpg + a path to said jpg. Once you reboot the device, it will no longer show GT-N7000 before it goes to the bootanimation, it will show something cool.
Installation steppy-steps
1. Download an old GB rom, since these are the ones you can rewrite the param.lfs file on.. The ICS and Jelly ones, doesn't allow for this. :/ - Make a nandroid backup before, ofc. if you wanna keep your stuff.
2. If it isn't rooted, root it. I recommend CF-root since you also get CWM that way. Most important thing is that you don't get the triangle.
3. Download one of my .rar's and unrar it.
4. Copy the contained .zip onto your device.
5. Flash it in CWM.
6. Reboot into your super awesome NEW GB rom and check out all the features and uhh, don't forget to check if the splashscreen worked.
7. Wipe data, system and cache and do a CWM restore to your ICS/Jelly rom.

Remember that at any point, you can unrar my archives and replace my image with something else, just keep the .jpg name. I've heard rumors that it will max fit 3 4ths of the screen. So full screen isn't possible. I keep them in this ratio simply because they are made from the original screen, back in the day when I made the first one. It is centered and it makes for a fine fit.
Thanks for reading, enjoy them.
