Modify End Key Application? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I'd like to be able to get the End Key application "Lock" button to use S2U2.exe instead of the native lock application, is this possible?
I know you can edit reg settings for the ActionScreen, but I don't know how similar these two apps are and if you can do the same to the EndKey app, any ideas?

I guess it's not possible then :\
I tried looking through the reg but edidnt see anything obvious i could change.

There is HTC End Key. Learn how that works and then you'll see how you can use S2U2 as the long end key press.

I am using the HTC "Quick List" end key, not sure how to "learn" how that works though. I don't see settings for it anywhere, unless I am missing something. Also, i wanted to use the actual "lock device" option in the end key quick list, not the end key it self, to lock it. Just don't know if i can change that via the reg ors omething, to point it at s2u2 instead of the htc locking app.

I too would like to do what Briggs wants. I have looked around the registry for something similar to HTCactionkey but to no avail

Use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356322.
Simply assign a shortcut for s2u2.exe (copy the one from /Windows/Start Menu/Progrmas/S2U2), name it Long_End.lnk and save it in the /Windows directory. Works for me.

That is not the point. They want endkey, but they want endkey list to use the S2U2 instead of MS Lock.
It's possible I believe. Start with an endkey cab & take a look at the files extracted with MSCEINF. The you can figure out the path & edit the dll w/ a resource editor or it may be an inf or xml.
Otherwise, maybe I can take a look, but it won't be any time soon unless the noobies stop doing idiotic things.

Sorry, so they don't want to press and hold the end key to activate S2U2, and not the native MS Device Lock? Because that's exactly what my post does, I'm doing so on my phone right now. If not then I am missing the point.

Yes, you are missing the point. They want to be able to use the HTC EndKey application that gives you numerous options when the end key is held, not just launch a single application.
Within HTC E.K. you can turn off data, select device sound as vibrate, lock the device, etc...
The OP would like to have all of this functionality, but would like to only change the device lock interaction to use S2U2 instead of MS Lock Device.
Much how you can use AdvancedConfig to change the CommManager, he'd like to change a single part of the existing HTC EndKey app.

I had read the post before and knew it could be done, but I didn't understand it.
It's really simple...
You copy a .lnk from your start menu (or wherever) to your windows directory and rename it one of these buttons:
Long_PTT.lnk (push to talk button+long press)
Long_End.lnk (the read key+long press)
Long_Send.lnk (the green key+long press)
Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)
Long_Power.lnk (Power button +long press)
Short_Power.lnl (Power button)
Long send works great for my sms program.

I was merely providing a solution to replace the Device Lock's End Key shortcut with S2U2. I see your point: the End Key application allows a lot more functionality. I'd be interested in seeing such a development.

LOL, man I give up on the ESL answers.

Instead of trying to hack the HTC End key application or re-write it like Schaps did for Long_Press_Power_Key, just take the HTC Action screen and make your modifications.
Plenty of people have done it already. Search for the HTC Action screen thread and you'll see what I mean.
*edit* Heh, I noticed you were already in that thread Anywhoo, HTC Action screen is much easier to modify.

Anyone want to extract the long power press key from schaps rom?

id love to have this as an install.
Make your own. It's really easy. Take the shortcut to whatever you want to run using the power key & duplicate it (or you can use the original .lnk).
Rename the copy or original to Long_Power.lnk & move it to the windows folder.
That's all there is to it!
You can also do Short_Power.lnk, Short_Send.lnk, Long_Send.lnk, Long_End.lnk & Short_End.lnk.

Just download HTC Endkey. Then rename the shortcut it creates in windows to Long_End.lnk

Let's see, I found it by playing around with .lnk names & looking into the files of AE keyboard. (Long_Power).
The rest I found in an amazing place called XDA-Developers.com! I was posted by a member who thought "Heck, let's take a look at the KB driver with a disassembler". This brilliant gentleperson is known as hma4!

Keyboard shortcuts for OK n Start ???

hi guys,
Hope some one can tell me , how to create shorcuts like "Ok" and "StartMenu" on the keyboard.I think this feature would be very useful ,,, I am sure some body might be thinking about this already ?
And one more thing I heard is the American model touch pro At& T model has "ok" and startmenu keys on the keyboard, so if upgrade the uk model htc touch pro rom with AT & T rom , then will I be able to use the keyboard shortcuts ?
Expecting some answers from our pro colleagues....
vj
For me can be better to unbind the home/back buttons from their default functionalities and handle them with AEBPlus. So I can have 4 functions on each button without their preinstalled functionalities.
I am not sure you can unbound home. Anybody tried?

Yes Home will be really important so yuo have a better use of the phone with a single-hand. Hope someone will fix this topic!
any more suggestions here with regards to home and OK buttons on KEyboard ?
Thought I will bump this , so that some one can answer to this really!
I'm using PQzII to map Ctrl+Enter → OK. You can also setup keyboard shortcuts for Start, Today, Alt+Tab, etc.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
This remap the keyboard AND buttons or only the keyboard?

Thank you for the tip , I will try this and then I will report back.
PQzII it's a wonderful app, works nicely!
Thanks!
nice app, i will try this out as well
I realize that configuring PQzII might not be very obvious, so here's some hints on how I've set it up for myself:
Run PQzII_Setup.exe to open the options.
Set CTRL as CTRL. I want to use my FN key as ALT, so enter the key code 0xEC for ALT since there is no actual choice for FN (more info below):
Now I can use FN+[key] mappings to simulate a regular PC.
FN+S → Start menu
FN+D → Desktop/Today screen
FN+Tab → Alt+Tab to switch programs
PQzII doesn't list all available keys (such as FN) but you can use PQz_CHECK to figure out the keycode and then manually enter it into PQzII if it isn't listed. For example, the SYM key is 0xE6. Just be sure to exit PQzII before you run PQz_CHECK:
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQz_CHECK.htm
Note: there's some inconsistency in how the TPro and PQzII handle sticky keys differently, so you might have to press some keys twice. Also, it goes without saying that you might get problems if you map shortcuts that already have functions, like FN+W → £.
Hope that helps
Edit--
After some testing, it might not be such a good idea to use the FN key for mapping because the Raphael uses it as a double-sticky key (ie: press FN once for one symbol, press FN twice for FN-lock). Since PQzII treats function keys as single-sticky keys, it gets pretty buggy.
Thank you & one more request
I have also tried this software and I must say , this is a must app for every Touch Pro Users , you can literally run anything with this software.
Only one more hurdle left for me with htc touch pro, when I am using any 3rd party RDP clients like citrix ica client, input is not taking from the keyboard, its only accepting it from virtual keyboard, there is one more thread already opened for this. Hope someone can crack this one fianl issue for touch pro.
Thanks to all the users who suggested this app.
Crosslinkage
Although the current result of my little research project is limited to being able to define a different keycode for the back button for _every window class_, perhaps with some more work it could lead to actually being able to remap the back button properly.
The home button can be (slightly) tweaked using post messages as well, but more work is required.
See my post here:

remap "back" button in IE?
It's not perfectly matching the topic but I don't want to start a new thread since it also somehow matches the topic:
Does anyone know if it's possible to map the "back" hardware-key in PocketIE as "history back"? In Pocket Outlook for example you can use the back-button to return from an email to the folder list but in PIE if you hit the back-button you just minimize PIE.

tap on the small white square, select "Setup" in Kontext.
Or run the setup application located in Mein Gerät (my device) - Programme (programs) - PQzII - PQzII_Setup
How can i make PQzII launch 2nd today?
I can't seem to make it find the program.
EDIT:
Copy the .ink to somewhere within my documents (I used templates nice and out of the way)
Then add a shortcut to a program select view all files and find the shortcut.
Installed and couldn't get the app started. In fact it kinda hanged my Touch Pro.
So it would be better if it works with Fn , cuz we all use it more than any key ...
nobody suggest it to the programmer ?

What do the CTRL and TAB buttons do?

I have a Fuze, so I lack these buttons by default. I was wondering if I should try to get them, but I don't know what they do yet to consider it.
what a crazy question?
Do you know what they do on a standard keyboard ,thats connected to your PC? The CTRL and TAB buttons on the standard PC keyboard do the same thing as on the PPC
Well, thats still not good enough.
I mean what good is a CTRL button on a phone? What can I do with a CTRL button on my phone? Turn on italics that doesn't exist?
What about tab? Does that let me go back and forth from clickable links? That'd be pretty useful. Does SHIFT+TAB work?
What about a keyboard button or two that lets me use the soft keys on-screen? The tilt had these, and this phone has a ton of useless buttons. Do any of these do that? Or maybe any of these you guys usually remapp for that? Can I remapp to that?
copy, cut paste comes to mind
exactly along with undo, save and open
if you don want them and dont have them whats the point of the thread?
Rory
Whats the point of this thread?
Are we ignoring the questions about TAB and focusing on the CTRL button? So I don't type up word documents or e-mail on my phone - suddenly I'm being attacked? Jesus calm down. I asked a simple question - I didn't see the need to copy and paste in text messages and you guys want to murder me for it.
alt+tab is a shortcut for windows Pc,but not for PPC...however,you can use a small software to switch window by alt+tab..
Well what about shift tab, which tabs links up instead of down? Does that work?
tab and hold for copy paste dont work in all apps
but in most cases using ctrl c/v works using the small onscreen keyboard
this is usefull one one need to copy something out of textbox like a phonenr or something like that
tab is useful if one is using a program where one have to fill various fields with data
and tab then moves the focus around between the input fields
shift is useful if one wish to make capitol letters
so the real answer is that keys functionality and usefulness is the same as they
are on normal computer keyboards
ctrl+a is very useful, selects all text or files.
Alright. So theoretically, how does this keyboard layout sound. (On the Fuze)
Caps - Changed to Tab
OK - Changed to CTRL
- (+) - Changed to OK (where it belongs.)
I would like to change more, maybe try and get softbuttons on, say, the left and right buttons. And the bottom left area is full of useless shortcuts to me, but I don't know what else to change them to.
AND DOES SHIFT + TAB WORK LIKE ON A COMPUTER?

Need to Call Some Links/Programmes..Can you Help?

I am putting together a theme for WAD2 in WVGA but have a need to call the following:
1. The SMS page when the SMS counter is pressed. All I can find is the Messaging.lnk
2. The email page when the email counter is pressed. Again, all I can find is the Messaging.lnk
3. Is there a tool which can be linked which directly calls the backlight just like the SPB Mobile Shell backlight?
4. The sounds page on TF3D 15-tab is very useful, is there a way of calling something similar from outside TF3D?
Thanks

It's alright man we moved it.. now you'll get whatever answers you need in here.
try this:
For inbox, try using:
tmail.exe -service "SMS"
It should open your inbox. At least it works for me.
To directly open the new sms window type:
tmail.exe -to "<number>" -body "hello" -service "SMS"
You can remove the parameters you don't need.
For email, replace "SMS" to "ActiveSync"
3. I have no idea what you just said
4. you can't really CALL something which isn't on TF3D... unfortunately. what exactly do you want to implement?

Thanks. All worked a treat. The backlight tool I was talking about is icon which calls up series of 5 boxes to control the backlight in the current power setting. This means rather than trying to use a slider, you can click one of 5 icons to get 20% gradation.
What I would like is an easy way of adjusting the sound profiles. I have found one within WAD but the box doesn't seem to scale to WVGA very well and this means some scrolling is required. What I am looking for is a nice easy finger friendly sound profile inut method.

[Tool] Immediate soft reset on longpress endkey [updated info]

This file is used to have your HD2 immediately soft reset when you do a long press on the endcall key.
Why immediate? Because sometimes it happens that the device locks up in a way you can trigger keypad actions but do NOT see anything on screen (included the confirmation dialogue for the reset), that way if you need to reset you have to remove the back cover.
For someone like me, who switches the battery often, the least times it's needed to peel off the panel, the longer the plastic of the chassis will last.
So well, download this file:
View attachment EndKey.exe.zip
and RENAME IT TO EndKey.exe REMOVING THE .zip EXTENSION, it's NOT a zip file!
I am on an ubuntu laptop right now and since "compress" is not one of the options on the right-click menu I couldn't be bothered to open the archive manager and compress the file manually so i just renamed the exe for the upload sake
Then copy the obtained EndKey.exe file under \Windows\ overwriting the current one (which corresponds either to your stock actionscreen, or to whatever other utility you have installed that hooks on longpress endkey) and to test it just do a longpress endkey, the device should immediately softreset. If not, you got a problem
If you want to go safe, before overwriting the file, rename the original one
Credits for the exe file (which is just a softreset utility renamed to EndKey.exe) go to whoever is its author, I don't know Found this "SR.exe" file among the preinstalled apps on my custom rom so I thought I could as well reuse it for a more useful purpose
[UPDATED INFO]
Apparently this method met with favour a lot of you, and others suggested/integrated it to make it even more useful.
First of all l3v5y created a cab for it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6376602&postcount=5
If you still need to shutdown the device here and there several users suggested XDAShutDown, with several kind of skins:
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591149
2) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6389730&postcount=25
And browsing through xdaportal I found another shutdown tool that looks good as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6335326#post6335326
If you still want a confirmation dialogue before softreset instead of having it trigger right away:

Anyway, I was away just a couple hours and I see two pages of replies already, I am very happy you liked it fellas (and thanks l3v5y for powering it up with a cab)
Anyway, I'd like to reinstate that my job went only so far to check how longpress endkey function was managed, and renaming an exe file that someone else created... in the Creative Commons language, it would be a very simple derivative work Stil,l if you want to show appreciation, create a dropbox account with the referral link in my sig and I'll get 250mb more
EDIT: BTW, to restore the original action screen, stock from HTC; just delete the endkey.exe you copied/installed from cab, it will get replaced by a 80k exe which is the stock screen
EDIT2: @l3v5y, deleted my exe, installed your cab and moved it to sashimi's auto folder anyway you don't need to make it reboot, since the reset function is active right after the installation/filecopy

well, all I did was rename an exe... tell you what, there is a tool called "hd2connections" which is a collection of exe shortcuts to toggle BT/wifi, reset, shutdown, and stuff like that (search for it on xda).
You can talke the softreset exe from there, rename it to EndKey.exe, copy over to \Windows\, and you'll see a confirmation dialogue asking you if you REALLY want to softreset. It's in french, at least in my installation, but still comprehensible
Anyway, I expressely chose NOT to have a confirmation, because of the times I need to softreset, the faster the better, and this way if your screen locks up in a crash and you can't see the dialogue, you can softreset anyway (at least you should, didn't happen yet to test it )
great stuff, thanks a lot.
