Magnify icons up top (how did I do it!?) - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I was using Duttys ATT touchcube (sure I got the name wrong) and now I am using his newer dualtouch v2 (sure I butchered the name again)...
Anyways, at the top of the phone across phone start there are those ridiculous tiny buttons for battery, ringer, etc. On that Dutty ATT I had running when I touched that area is sort of magnified them all so I chose. Now that is gone.
What program was that a feature of?
As always, thanks in advance.
Steve

if you need cabs to re install these are what your looking for, you should aslo have a look in development and hacking for "htc extracted apps"

Many thanks...In all seriousness this has to be one of the most friendly, helpfull forums on the web...Try posting a question on some others and you are attacked with the "WHY DONT YOU SEARCH" police!

i would like to have a wm6.1 kaiser rom

hi,guys,
i would like to have a kaiser wm6.1 rom,
which rom u recommand?
I recommend you read the sticky at the top of this forum. Then do a search on WM 6.1 roms, there are lots. Then when you understand the process you then flash away. See the links in my sig...they will help get you started as well.
Each person likes different things in ROMS, so it is very subjective. You should have done some research before posting...
Good luck.

I used to love this forum. I now have the hardest time just peeking in.
I have read the multi page thread about what to do about the redundant threads and none of the suggestions have been implemented (except the heavy hammer by Kyphur). alas, with the fact that our phones are now so common, we have more people than ever trying to flash. I miss the days when the XDA was one of only a few devices that people used and you cuold only find 50-60 users online at any given time.
Andrewsitu, you are one of countless junior members who want to start flashing but can't take a few moments to look around. In some ways I can't blame you, since there are SOOO many threads, many pointless and redundant, it can be daunting. But it is a chicken and the egg dilema.
Maybe we need a senior member forum only so that we can actually be productive. This is nuts. I really feel like checking out . . .

Ditto here. It did help us alot during the Beta testing.
I don't think you could just limit it to Senior Member status though as some people could just post useless info to get their post count up in order to make SM status.

Easily handled if the title was bestowed, rather than just automatic. mods could review and either grant or put them in pending status until useful posts actually accounted for the needed 100. Puts more work on the the mods in some ways, but lessens it in others (fewer closed threads). I'd also have any new thread from anyone with less than 50 posts approved for non-redundancy by the mods.
I just really miss this place and I just seem to get more and more frustrated everytime I log in. And in some ways I can't blame the NooBs, because if aI saw all these threads I'd be spinning and wanting to just take the easy way out. It would be nice to have a senior member lounge or something . . .

Once you've done that, you need to post in the right forum. Since we don't have a forum called "I've recently had my brain smashed out with a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick...so please hold my hand and answer the same questions over and over and please change my diaper while you're at it" you'll just have to use the Kaiser forum. That's "Kaiser", not "Kaiser upgrading etc". Let me know if I'm going too fast for you. I don't want to have to start over...that would irritate me and I don't think any of us want that. The upgrading forum is what chefs and packagers use to work on, release, and fix ROMs and cabs and such. Experienced members also use it to provide feedback to these same guys (and girls). Think you got all that? I hope so. Because if I have to address this with you again, I'm gonna get mean.
Now, to actually address your question (because I'm in a good mood today...no...really):
Are you serious?? Do you actually expect to get a usable answer from a question like this? Can you even fathom how many different answers you'll get and how many different reasons justifying those answers?? No, you can't count that high. It's more than fingers and toes. What you are asking for is an opinion so you don't have to think. Well here's my opinion...
You can't have my opinion. It's mine. Go make your own.

Personally, I'd recommend looking through the "Kaiser Upgrading" forum for all ROM releases with "WM6.1" in the title. Then look at the list the Chef's provided of what's in the ROM and think "Do I use all those things?", then look again and think "Have I got installation cabs for the others I use that aren't there?". If the answer is "yes" to both, flash it as that's your perfect ROM. If the answer to either is "no", then note what was missing/extra and look at the next ROM. When you're done go to whichever ROM closely fitted your needs and flash it.
Oh, and for the love of (insert deity of your choice) install Hard-SPL first, then a WM6.1 Radio ROM after and don't expect your hand to be held by others in this forum until you've proven you're willing to learn the basics. Once you've proven you're willing to try, you'll be amazed how friendly and helpful everyone is.

Not a bad idea - it's been floating around since the Hermes days and probably earlier. BUT... would you like to sift through the 593872 (and rising) members to see which of us seniors actually qualify as useful.
In my 440+ posts some have been helpful, some fun and some flaming but NONE qualify me as a developer (the main reason for this forum). Would I be excluded?
The only real way to sort this out is to let the guys who actually run the site decide what they want, make new rules if necessary and then we live with it.

Did you read the Wiki? There some really great information out there. But you didn't, did you?
I know this because if you had read the Wiki like the Sticky mentions...oh wait...did you read the Sticky? Probably not. Let's just move right along, shall we? If you had read the Sticky, you would have heard about the Wiki and there you would have seen all sorts of links to that Cube page. You'd also know that if all you want is the cube, you don't have to change ROMs and thus possibly void your warranty. You'd also know that the proper forum for discussion about what software to use for what purpose belongs in the Kaiser forum, not the Kaiser Upgrading Etc forum. And you'd know that right now tell is that dutty has the ROM with the fastest responding cube. We even would have thrown in wonderful information about all the Frequently Asked Questions related to the Kaiser and related topics...yes...even dutty's ROMs. But all of this is in the hypothetical world where you read this stuff, right? That world where you didn't post this question that's covered in countless threads, forums, and wiki pages...
(I'd be more snarky but I'm hungry and I've had a rough day at work...now get back to your regularly scheduled programming peeps)
hi there, welcome to the forum.

I personally have been happily flashing warranty voiding ROMs on my Tilt that have dutty's cube. I'm also one of those weirdos that just doesn't like the cube. Best thing I can suggest is read the two threads for the two different cubes linked on that wiki page and see what people are saying about them and compare it to what you want.

FLAME ON
I was far too nice, I see. I went through the trouble of taking 1.2 seconds opening another tab to get the URL of the EXACT Wiki page you needed so I could put the link in my reply. Why? Because I knew that you obviously did not bother to use the resource that so many of us here strive to maintain. It's an insult to the work we do here when people like you just drop on in and ask to be spoonfed. I suggest you read the Extreme Noobs post. I'm not gonna bother to link this time because you aren't gonna bother to use what is handed to you. Try looking for it. It's on the first page so you'll probably have a hard time seeing it. This isn't rocket surgery or brain science. It can be done by anyone with a little patience and the ability to comprehend those strange symbols on the screen we call "letters"...they go together to form "words" which convey "thoughts" and "ideas" and "knowledge". Am I going too fast for you with all these fancy terms? Doesn't matter...I don't care.
Yes, there's a lot of clutter in the forums. Yes, there's a lot of clutter in the individual threads. You know why? Shut up. I'm talking. It's because people like you annoy people like me by posting questions that have been gone over so many times that even "Barrens chat" now has more useful information in it. Do you know what Barrens Chat is? I thought I told you to close your pie hole. Go to Google...I'm assuming you know what that is. Try searching for Barrens Chat and see what I'm talking about. I'm actually being driven to the point that I want to play WoW again so I can hang out in the Barrens and listen to people discuss the characteristics of the love child of Chuck Norris and Michael Jackson. I'm beginning to think my time there would be far more stimulating than typing the same 8-10 answers over and over again until my laptop jumps up and smashes my balls with a Mack truck just to make me stop.
Have I hurt your feelings? Have I upset you or made you mad? I swear, if you don't stop talking I'm gonna have to punch you in the face with an active volcano. Now hurry up and answer me. On second thought, don't bother because I really don't care any more. You're just going to have to learn to be faster if you want to keep my interest in this conversation.
WOW!!!!!!!
Well, it seems clear this thread is not going anywhere useful. Links to the Cube info have been given.
Closing thread.
Mike

Just got my Att Fuze what are some good programs to DL?

whats some good programs to install?
Um well....... what do you want to do? Are you going to flash a new ROM? What are you using the phone for? These are the questions I have for you. Without knowing that we can't tell you what to look for.
sigh.. just go to the site in my sig, tailored just for you.
And before you post on xda again please read the rules and guidelines first.
Click my sig, i got hundreds of cabs.
I know the OP asked when he could have searched...
But i am in the same boat and was also wondering what everyone is using. His question (and the replies with apps in the sigs) is going to make my life better too
So thanks OP for asking a disliked but useful question....

for the 10^10000000000th time.
well, i look at it this way...it doesn't hurt anyone here if someone ASKS....there is no gun to your head to answer it. only chime in if you feel like it. The OP's title is very explanatory of what he was asking so no one should have opened the thread unless they either wanted to reply or were curious of the responses given (like me). To be fair, i have never quite understood the strictness imposed which seems to cause so much frustration in (many) forums.
Signal to noise ratio, man. The fewer redundant threads, the fewer months it takes someone to get the same knowledge and tools from xda forums for their phone.
I had no problem answering his question (hell I spent countless hours designing a website to accommodate people in his shoes) and I'm sorry if I came off as bitter but the rules make sense to the people who made the rules and to me and especially to those reading the forums on their phones with a browser or RSS.
Think of Slashdot. There by default you wouldn't see things like this as they would get moderated below the default threshold. If you're so inclined, you can modify the threshold up or down or order the posts in various directions. That makes Slashdot a lot better than it used to be before they coded that. But wouldn't it be nice if XDA could continue to get away without needing the forum equivalent of that kind of system if people would just post properly and when newcomers do not that they are advised to check the rules (and, in this case, their questions get answered too)?
And yes, because of this thread a bunch of people are getting cabs they didn't have from various sigs and now that this is turning into a debate a lot more people will get cabs. But would you not agree now that we are both right? Or do you truly not mind the boards being flooded with the same questions the wiki and searching satisfies? Not to mention spam and people trying to sell their phones. Signal to noise ratio.

I think for some it's just a matter of frustration. I've been guilty of it myself, and got my hand slapped by the mods in Q&A for an inappropriate flame. Speaking for myself, I first joined a little over a year ago and read everything available. This allowed me to avoid asking questions that had already been answered. I'd hazard to guess that the "ask first and search later" approach is viewed by some as intellectually lazy. I can also see the other side that you point out. This site can be very intimidating and some people may just not know what to look for -- especially if they're new to WinMo. I've now adopted a no-flame approach (don't want to get slapped again). I'm certainly no expert, but I occasionally can provide an answer or suggestion, even if it's nothing other than providing a link to the appropriate thread. I figure it's the least I can do for all the great help I've received here.

Can't help but say that in my head with the Dude's voice from The Big Lebowski.
Well put! I trolled this board months before I got my Fuze on release day. After I got it, I finally registered at xda. Just now I flashed my phone with a NAFT's new ROM. Countless threads of information to go through for someone with tendencies of ADD its hard to take it all in a fast as I want to. Many saved bookmarked threads. Think this might be my 4th post. @D0ugie
First off, i didn't think your reply was too negative. You just pointed out that people should search first and ask later, which i agree with. I think in my mind it's the level of grey that exists with the "search first" motto that is debatable. I have spent a LOT of time in some instances searching for a needle in a haystack, sometimes in fear of knowing that if i pose a new thread for a quick answer i might get flamed for it. And there are times when i asked before i probably should have (had one of those the other day) and felt like an idiot for it. And then there are the times where i was looking for something but maybe didn't even know it, and had someone else ask it and be like, wow that is exactly what i wanted to know. And then there are still the times where i asked a Q and wasn't sure if it was a good question and whether or not i'd even get a reply, and had a huge discussion evolve because of it and lots of people glad i did ask.
Obviously, the repeat of the same question over and over can make it harder to find the BEST answers, but sometimes i will search and not find that right thread and then someone points me to it and i am like, that just saved me SO much unnecessary searching, THANK YOU.
The bottom line though is i love this community and, in general, everyone here is amazing and so helpful and giving. I feel lucky to be a part of it and wish i was a better developer and had more to contribute.

Please delete me when the fun's gotten out of it, but at least XDA should get back two search results from now on, on The Big Lebowksi
In two weeks:
http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&...esult&cd=1&q=Noonski+the+big+lebowski&spell=1
Should give you at least one result on finding out my true identity.
A few posts deleted, that is already more then any of us would have wanted on a Forum meant to harbour information.
Don't Flame a man trying to show you the light of XDA, it attracts to much attention of Moderators even when they are trying not to.
If you go to my 4shared, you can find pretty much any application that will do whatever you want on your WinMo based phone.

Icon Bar on Pure

I'm sure there's a post related to this, but I haven't been able to locate the information.
I have an ATT Pure version of Topaz
My question is the icon (slider) bar on the phone has a blue background behind the icons and it wont go away. I'm new to making mods to the phone say is there a cab out there to chang this? and or if a file what do I do in order to add it into the phone and update this blue bar. I'd prefer it to be clear and allow my wallpaper to show through it.
Thanks for your time and help

Search for a transparant slider. Not so difficult...
Don't open a new thread for each question you have.

Koen-ronse, these forums are littered with you telling people to search for things. You can see that some people are noobies and don't yet know the terminology or even the language, but you persist. I have checked your posts and sure enough about 50% of these relate to you telling people off for not searching. Please stop it. I waste more of my time reading your unhelpful posts like this than those of other people.
Triton 360 - it is not the transparant SLIDER you need to find, it is the transparant CURTAINS. Depending on what Manila you have will depend on what you will need. Check your manila type in the settings tab of your touch flo. Then search for the right one for your phone. If your TouchFLO 3D number starts with 2.0, then you will be able to use the file attached here. You can of course try it anyway, but if you do, be sure to back-up first.

So you have also seen these two?

Thanks to all who don't use search and open directly a new thread, it is more difficult to find something for the searching people (like me), because you get a huge number of hits with irrelevant threads... Get it?
I don't want to demotivate but motivate to search and read. When you give directly a helping link, they stay doing it.
Seeing every time new opened threads from newbies with every time the same silly questions, that's very demotivating for us, the people who supposed to help you. And that's what you'r looking for here, somebody who wants to help you. We don't have to do it, but we like it because this forum is a bit like a hobby for us.
So, we can shoose, saying nothing more or trying to teach you how a forum works. I prefer the last thing... And if somebody like me (the bad one) point you in the right direction, it's not for beeing bad, but for getting a better usefull forum. You can see in my posthistory that it's really multiple times a day that new useless threads were opened...
Normally it's a work for the moderators, but they also have a live and can not be always here, because also them are doing this as a hobby. Be all glad that I don't be one of them or it was the same comment and also closing the thread directly.
I take some time for this post because I can quote him for futur use when I get comments again from not-readers, not-searchers, new-post-openers and silly-question-posters...
If you have really followed my posts, you know that I help a lot when the rules are followed a bit...
And do you know why I can help others? Because I read a lot...

I'm from Belgium. Here we speak Dutch, French and a bit German. Most of my English I've learned here and on the internet in general by reading and even now at the moment my online Google translator is opened... So no excuse for that...
But even with the exact words it's difficult to find the right thread or post if you're searching something. And that was not a problem about 2 years ago. That's started with all the new users now. It takes a little work, but if everybody does a little effort, this forum can be a strong instrument again...
Before htc was only buyed by people who were really interested. Now htc is a more commercial product. People buy it and thereafter they can not work with it. They are not interested, they just want that it works. So they don't read, don't search... They just want an instant solution or link for there problem... Result: 100's questions of the same type... It's really demotivating for people who love there device and want to learn and share knowledge here...
I really hope that mods can do something at that, but i'm afraid it's a hopeless situation. I'm allready happy if I can prevent somebody of opening a second useless thread, even the first one is allready one to much...

After reading that, you should understand...
Yawn, yawn - these are your opinions and I stand by my point that you don't help may people and you waste my time and that of others.

If they don't open a useless new thread, but post there question in the right excisting one, you even don't have to open it...
I have had to read through more flaming posts than stupid questions lately.
Its quite annoying.
Thanks! mitsi, that did the trick.
Sorry Koen I was unware of what that object was called, so I was looking for "sliders" and not finding the information I was looking for.
Thanks again.
Interesting...
Couple members on this, Topaz XDA underforum, have behaviour like MODs or ADMIN, but them ARE DIDNT THAT...Why this members get mods job ??? You are "members" or "senior members"...dont "moderator" or "administrator"...And if dont will, or if dont know helping oder "younger" members or "newbies" , than please dont reply with "clevering"... But, if something isnt about forum rules, that make "clean" moderators...
Thanks and
Regards

Anyone know a decent, free alarm app for the HD2?

The in built alarm sucks and id like a nice alarm app for the hd2, any suggestions?
G-Alarm ALLLLL the way: (not free, but cheap and worth it)
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/about
Although it does my head in trying to solve mathematics when I'm half asleep...at least it gets me out of bed...
I have the best suggestion for you:
at the top of the page you see a taskbar, when you click on search there will popup a new window. Now here is the tricky part, you should not type what you are looking for directly at the popup up screen but click on "use the built in forum search". Now when you have done that, you can search in the whole forum for a topic about a good alarm for the HD2 (because there are dozens of topics about this). To make it a little easier for yourself you should select the Leo forums section on the right.
Good luck
try spb time v3.2.0.

I agree, this is one of the best WM alarm applications i've ever seen. It even set's a dummy alarm in Windows Alarm, so in any Skin, Shell or other application displaying alarms, they show up (like in Manila or Sense and in SPB Shell).
If you having trouble waking up, you can use a puzzle or a maze to disable or snooze the alarm.

WOW.... you just made yourself look like an elitist punk....
One thing that i DO NOT understand about you guys (Elitist) is that, why don't you guys just answer the question?! Is it that hard? Is writing a full paragraph in a sorry attempt to be witty easier?
You should try to acknowledge the fact that not everyone visits this page everyday or has XDA saved as their homepage so that they know all the topics being posted....
It was a simple question which for some reason was a little too difficult for you to answer... re-evaluate what it is that you're trying to "teach" the new members here ya??
dismissed
and back on topic G-Alarm is one of the more popular ones... you can find the thread around here somewhere...or its even in your marketplace...
+1 for G-Alarm (and by the way G-Profile)
G-alarm is not free. Give a try to Klaxon or Spoon alarm. Both are freeware. the first one supports g-sensor for switching off alarms as G-Alarm does. I don't know for the second
G-Alarm 1.5.1 still floats around, that last free version, but honestly the best €5 you'll ever spend...
I've attached G-Alarm 1.5.1 for ya

Right to the point (the elitist thing and G-Alarm...)
If you're looking strictly for an alarm clock that's nicer the built in alarm, and you're really stuck on it being free, Herm's software, Nightstand, is a free (you can buy him a beer from his page), and it works well on the HD2. Not as customizable as G-Alarm, but, again, if you don't feel like paying for G-Alarm, this is a nice alternative: http://www.hermssoftware.com/node/41
/J
^^ i have played around with that app as well.. but in all honesty.. i believe g-alarm is a damn good app.. well worth the couple cents.. but again.. the alternative that junga posted works great as well..
cheers

I disagree with your view point and your attitude.
It is more important to teach someone to fish then to give him a fish. If we keep asking same questions over and over again, this forum will become a useless pile of junk.

true.. but you should keep this in mind... this is an online forum for our specified mobile phone... if we can't ask here.. then why are we here?? it's a discussion for ALL things related to our phone.. regardless of how much it comes up.... (it may be old news and recurring for someone that visits this page every day.. but for someone else... it may be new and fresh info... this forum is not only for your veiwing needs... its a COMMUNITY forum... and you should treat it as such...)
if we wanted an "scripted" or textbook answer then we would go to either yahoo or google and find some info there... but we ask questions here.. because it's "real" people with real opinions, with real input, and real solutions... all the responses here are personalized.. which makes it so much more relatable as opposed to an instruction manual...
if that's too hard to understand.. then i'm afraid this community has worsen since its earlier days...
either way.... your comment was OFF TOPIC... stay on topic or leave... since we like telling others what to do
sorry mods.. but i had to teach someone how to fish...
i use touch alarm pro. don't think it's free, but it's a pretty good program. btw, there's a free version is called touch alarm.

I agree with you somehow. In xda these days, it's becoming a routine for some people, to just jump in these kind of threads and said "why dont you use the search tools" and follow by "blah, blah, blah, whatever, etc". Why dont just answer the questions, or follow by an answer after your say? It doesnt take much time, does it?
I just joined in this forum not so long, and I am somehow proud that I've never asked these easy-to-find questions. With a new forum, a new device, I always search, and when I think I know it all, then I will jump in, post and join the community, share views, comments, helps, etc. But, not so many people have much spare time as I do, check xda everyday, read every posts and threads. They have works, jobs, families, and maybe only got lunch time to visit xda to get help. To search and find an exact answer to a question, it may take plenty of time.
So people, you may teach a lesson about searching, but it will be more kind of you if you give out an answer after your lesson. That's what I think
