Auto Profile switch - General Questions and Answers

Hello
The TOUCH DUAL has 4 Profile (Normal, Silent, Auto ...), is it possible to switch this Profile time based?
My idea was, that the current profile is set/save in the registry, and so i can write a .NET Application that change the registry-setting on time, or is the current profile not in the registry, or is it not possible to read/write the registry?
When the Profile Setting are in the registry, where can find it?
Thank you very much

Anyone ?
Very interesting ideea !
To complete the request , I need an app to switch off pda at 11 PM and turn on at 7 AM .
Is it posible ?
Please Help !!!

Try OS Profiler http://rs572.rapidshare.com/files/196659870/OS_Profiler_v0.4a.cab

Yup - CommManagerPro AKA CMP can do that - and lots more...

Or also G-Profile from Ageye can switch profiles you can set up.

Usefull but ...
Very usefull sugestions but :
1. lack of optimization for wvga format .
2 . none of the above can do a simple thing : turn ON/ off completely the phone !!
Sugestions please !

Solution !!! SHUT DOWN , SHUT OFF , TURN OFF
I finally find a solution for my problem .
I install G-alarm and xda-shutdown on my device .
In g-alarm I define a time trigered profile ( at 10PM ) where I put an entry wich it launches xda-shutdown with parameter /shutdown .
QED
But now I have a new question :
How can I TURN ON my device at a specified time ?
Regards

I doubt you can turn the device on by any application.
Not sure why you need to turn it off completely, but Gprofile can turn of radio and any other connection (wifi, blutooth) and then turn them back at specific times.

Anyone ?
I want to turn the device off at night to save batery power ( turning off is better than airplane mode I guess ) ... and because I usually sleep all this time !!!

not really,we don't know how many power are used during boot up,for nokia device(n78 which i previously owned),if device are turned off for 8 hours or more, then switching it off saves more power than using aeroplane mode.

WLAN turns by shutting down the display

Hi to all!
I have a little problem and I think it's just a change on a registry key...
When I enable WLAN on the phone for downloading some files or update weather data or something like this and the display lights went off automatically after 30 seconds than the WLAN connection went also down.
Does somebody know how to change/fix this?
Thanks in advance,
Marko

Automatic phone turn on

Hi to all, is there a way to switch on the HD2 at a desidered time?
I mean: from the phone totally switched off is there some software or mod that makes it auto-turning on?
So battery life could be extended instead of keeping it turned on during the night only for make the alarm clock ring...
On my nokia it was possible make it to turn on automatically and make the alarm ring, I think it's strange that this cannot be done on the HD2...
Thanks for your answers and sorry for my english, I hope you understood anyway
bye
Try CT Scheduler. However, if anyone else here has any idea about other programs that can do this, let me know.
I'm looking for something that does something like this:
1. Turn on phone every 15 minutes
2. Leave it on for 2 minutes (so that calls/text messages can arrive)
3. Turn off the phone
Repeat.
Try G-Alarm
Not to sure if it have the wake up function.
SKSchema is simply the best.
You can schedule what you want on your PDA and it runs great on HD2.

I think this is technicaly not possible because when the phone is off it is not possible to run software.
If you desire it to consume the lowest possible amout of power you may put the phone into flight mode and ensure no background apps are still running.
Some software such as Galarm will turn the phone into flight mode over night and dissable flight mode in the morning with the alarm.
I use phonealarm,
at night I set my phone to automatically switch to flight mode, so that I receive no calls, messages etc, and it uses virtually no battery power, but the alarm still goes off in the morning, and my phone automatically switches back on

I have checked that these advanced settings on battery power are very important:
- switch off back light if the device is not in use for 30 sec
- deactivate the device if not used by 1 min.
Hey guys,
I installed an app for disabling the internet connectivity. The app is called Dial-up Enabler Disabler. I installed through Open Market. Try it, works like a charm.
Fastest way to disable 3G/H is to go to the Phone settings and switch it to GSM.

It is stock but won't work all the time. Sometimes 3G turn on by it self. I use NoData, that's a simple app that does the trick.
@Ts
Some tips.
Install TD2 Tools from Gaz. It can save you CPU (so some battery usage). After changing the cache settings my CPU runs after start-up on 45% (formally 58%). After extreme usage, e-mail, internet/surfing, gaming, movies. It is like 65-67% (formally to 70-80%)
Install cleanRAM to close all of your applications you think are closed.
thanks Ciedric!
I installed the DialUp Enabler Disabler tool, disabled all the connections. Set the backlight time out to 30 secs., Disable bluetooth and WiFi when not using it. This allows me to use my phone for 1.5 days.
When travelling, I change the wallpaper to plain white background, lower down the volume to minimum and avoid using the phone when the coverage is poor (as phone uses more battery when coverage is bad), not using speakerphone and the battery lasts approximately 20-25% more than usual.
Also, although companies do claim that newer batteries are not affected by this, but I would suggest not to overcharge the battery, charge it during daytime when you can see that it is completely charged (avoid overnight charges), leave it for like 10 minutes extra and charge again when the battery is less than 12%, it works for me always. I have four cell phones, and 3 are more than 2 year old, still they give me more than 2 days of usage without charging.
You have to disable wi-fi, bluetooth and disable the automatic data connection for meteo and e-mail (no matter if you are under 2G or 3G network).
In this way my battery DOUBLE it's duration!

To allow switching between 3G and Edge you need to modify registry. With a registry editor, go to following registry key [HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting] and change "ShowUMTSBandPage" to 1, which will enable band selection page in phone settings. From there you will have to go to "Start - Settings - Personal - Phone". At the bottom you will now see a tab called "Band" in which you will have two drop downs. Under the first one you have the options of "Auto", "GSM", and "WCDMA". "GSM" is your EDGE only and "WCDMA" is your 3G. "Auto" allows for EDGE only when 3G mode is not available or drops temporarily.

one of the best is to set the brightness of the screen yourself, and uncheck "automatically adjust backlight setting".
I used the app 'Addin Timer' to scheduler the tasks, turn on the Airplane Mode in the night before sleeping, and turn off it in the morning. The battery cost 2% or 1% whole night. And this is good to our health/reduce the radiation, yes?
A good ROM may help you saving the battery, the official build used up the battery quickly by my experience

Apps to improve battery drain for TG01 / snapdragon

Haven't found an app for the TG01 to improve power drain ... used with my ohter WM phones XCPUscaler (Auto CPU clock), but that one is not compatible to the snapdragon proc.
even so ... any suggestions for an app?
1 : turn off the green status led
2 : turn off backlight sensor
3 : dont have ur backlight on a high value , only when u really need it
4 : dont just lock phone , but put it in standby also
5 : if ur only playin mp3s set ur cpu to lowest w/ utility /u know there is one in all roms rite?/
6 : dont use programs to save battery life cuz programs use battery .
thank you!
And don't forget to set wifi to power consumption. I've noticed my battery lasting much much longer and I didn't realise why until I checked the settings.

dont find the option
Hello guys! I read this thread because I'm looking for a solution to a kind of similar problem.
I find it inconvenient that Wifi must always be set either ON of OFF, when Wifi is ON, it is constantly using the connection and reduces battery life enormously! When Wifi is OFF, it does never sync, and you have to enable your Wifi yourself everytime you want to check for your email. It makes me feel like I'm 20 years back, where you had to dial-in for checking your e-mail once a day.
Is it possible to work out a solution with the 2 app mentioned before (llama, tasker)?

You may find the Google Group and/or the Wiki helpful.
I can provide you with some examples, but that has to wait till tomorrow.
If you don't want to wait - there are hundreds of profiles and tutorials around the www and i'm sure you'll find a few here on xda

i can wait ... if you have also some nice new ideas or scripts

Syncing with screen off is not a good idea!
It will make sure your phone cannot get into deep sleep mode, and thus consumes ALOT of power!

That depends highly on your sync frequency and what you might or might not additionally control via Tasker.
then tall me how to do it
i want the normal schedule what i set up in every account ... i wish that everything about sync is normal ... the only thing that should not happen is - dont sync when screen is on .
i tried that ... i even got the synker plugin
but i disabled sync when screen is on and enabled it when screen is off ...
and it syncs everytime screen is off ... thats not what i want ...
understand me ??
Code:
Profile 1:
- Context: Display off
- Task: set Variable to 1, turn AutoSync, BT, WiFi and Data off
Profile 2:
- Context: Display on
- Task: set above Variable to 2, turn AutoSync, BT, WiFi and Data on
Profile 3:
- Context: above Variable matches 1 and a (for example) 1h timer
- Task: WiFi, Data and AutoSync on, set a waittimer to sth. like 2min. then turn everything off
Well, thats a minimalistic version of what i do and very basic.
Maybe you can combine it via an exit-Task into only one profile, but i like to be flexible via Variables.
Possible extensions:
- WiFi will only get turned on, when you parsed a known SSID into a variable (i.e.: don't turn wifi on, if you won't get a connection)
- "Disply off" Profile (and Task) runs only on battery (i.e.: Display and connections stay on in Power plugged/Dock mode)
- Include CPU frequency & governor control
- Reduced CPU frequency when Display off only if you don't play media (music)
- Control your WiFi connection via location/cell towers und turn it off if you not near them
- mobile data off if wifi is connected
- ...
