Missing AT&T MMS Feature - General Topics

I just purchased an AT&T branded HTC Tilt and quickly located this forums for my tweaking needs.
I re-flashed to an HTC ROM and noticed I no longer have the option to send audio/video via MMS. In searching this forum I located and installed Arcsoft's MMS V.4.2.8.1 ... however I still do not see the option to send audio/video via MMS.
I'm looking for any assistance to get the MMS feature installed and working on my device.
I'm a Blackberry-convert and Window Mobile is an uncharted territory for me. Please be gentle ...
Thank you

Bump ... can anyone help me get my MMS feature installed and working once again.
Thank you in advance

Drop the attached cab to your device through active sync, then using the phones file explorer locate the cab file and tick on it.. this will start the install process.... this will restore your att settings for mms and internet...

MMS on WM5 idea

Now that we have a proper working WM5 device out there (the Universal) has anyone attempted installing the MMS application for that on a Himalaya running WM5?
If the cab file can be extracted from the Extended ROM of the Universal then it's got to be worth a try right?
There is a downloadable CAB in the BlueAngel section of the FTP site, it was extracted from the Universal, however there are problems with installing it, it will not install saying it is not digitally signed.
Hopefully someone will come up with a solution to this soon.
I've tried the solution to install properly , the cab ... let me release the cab ...
be patient
ok ..
Arcsoft mms composer was extracted from universal rom and a cab file was made to work with BlueAngel.
On Himalaya device , this cab don't install .
I've found the cause : 2 file
ArcMMS.dll cause the install stop wis message : bla bla bla not digitally signed bla bla bla
RcDll.dll cause the install stop and prompt to install in another place , and again , and again .
I've managed a cab file with all other files and reg settings ...
I've create a rar , with this cab and the 2 dll
To install , follow the instructions :
1. Download AMmsC_XDAII_WM2k5 here
2. Decompress the rar file where you want in your computer
3. Soft reset your device
4. Copy RcDll.dll and ArcMMS.dll to your Windows directory on XDAII
5. Run the cab file on your XDAII
6. Soft-reset your device again
After this , go to E-mail application ...
he he , you should see a MMs account !!!!
go to menu/ Mms Configuration and set your server like in old version of mms composer !!!
Enjoy !!!
@TofClock
i've installed all the files you instructed, done w/ soft reset also but im quite confused on the last portion of your instruction.(see below)
After this , go to E-mail application ...
he he , you should see a MMs account !!!!
go to menu/ Mms Configuration and set your server like in old version of mms composer !!!
can you elaborate on this??
thanks
ok , well
If any MMS account appears , just follow this steps :
Go to Menu/Tools/New account
in email , just write [email protected] then click NEXT
again NEXT to pass the automatic config
account name "e"
user name "e"
password "e"
then NEXT
for the type of account , choose "MMS"
in step 5 , write a in all the case then click FINISH
the MMS account should appear
after this , go to Menu/MMS Configuration
Server tab
New
and your server settings like in other Mms composer version
it's seems no working.....
buzz said that it works on 1.60c +
It works

On 1.50 and all other security-enabled WM5 versions you need to copy Arc's files to your \windows folder manually and import Arc's registry settings. But you can also use other MMS solutions like Pixar MMS, EzWAP or MMSd

MMS on WM5.0 Himlaya Working! - Updated

** EDIT **
Aplogies for not crediting ncruz as the one who edited the original files and got this working in the first place!
As per his instructions, and to make everything a bit easier for everyone, I have updated the Himalaya cab file with his updated files
** EDIT **
Thanks to TofClock for the making the cab file! I've just taken his instructions and made them a little easier to follow, I hope he doesnt mind
The Arcsoft mms composer has been extracted from the Universal rom and a cab file was cerated to work with WM 5.0 Blueangel devices.
However this cab won't install on Himalaya devices.
This is because of the following two files
ArcMMS.dll cause the install stop wis message : bla bla bla not digitally signed bla bla bla
RcDll.dll cause the install stop and prompt to install in another place , and again , and again .
TofClock has created his own cab file (which I have now updated to ncruz newest versions) with all other files and reg settings ...
Attached to this post is are two RAR files containing a cab file and 2 dll files.
To install, follow these instructions :
1. Download Himalaya_WM5_MMS.part1.rar and Himalaya_WM5_MMS.part2.rar from this post.
2. Decompress the rar file on your PC using winrar or something similar
3. Soft reset your Himlaya
4. Copy RcDll.dll and ArcMMS.dll to your Windows directory on your Himalaya
5. Copy the cab file to your Himalaya and install it.
6. Soft-reset your device again
7. After this , go the messaging application. click on Inbox you should see a new account there called MMS.
If not click on Menu>Tools>New Account
Create a dummy email account (it doesn't matter what info you fill in, just make it up) but at the Account information select MMS as the account type and click next.
Then finish going through the account creation, again for the server information making anything up.
8. Once that is completed clock on Menu>MMS Configuration then click the servers tab.
9. From here fill in your operators server settings (remember to set it as default!) and enjoy MMS on WM5.0!!
Again thanks sooo much for everyone's hard work in getting this working, especially ncruz for the initial work and the BA cab and TofClock for making the Himalaya cab file.
Great, just another thing, thoose files aren't from universal.
First, thoose files are from MY POST, i've reshacked thoose files for qvga devices, so it really pisses me off when people take credits for things they don't to.
Second, at least use my latest rcdll.dll see my post at BA forum.
The one that's in THAT cab has some huge icons. and i have hacked it a little bit more.
Third, i've already resolved the problem of having to create the account by hand.
So, if you really want to do the thing right, get the cab at my post, open wincecab editor, remove rcdll.dll and arcmms.dll, install the cab, then copy the files you've just removed and copy them to \windows.
PS: you can check the original files from universal and see that they aren't the same.
everythin is done as explained before, and no mms account appears
please help me
THankssss
Working with WM2k5_1.60c.00WWE_XDA2_HIMALAYA
thanks mjames_84 for update the cab
GREAT THANKS to ncruz for your good job , without it , i never should made this cab

Have you tried this previously using ncruz manual installation?
I had trouble with that method and once I tried it even after I used the cab file it wouldn't work I had to hard reset my device and do it again.
If you did try the manual install first then you may have to do the same, it certainly worked for me anyway.
As his cab file worked great once I had removed the two dll files and had done a hard reset.
Of course if you havn't tried the manual installation previously then it could be anything you might need to give more info on what ROM version you're using, software you have installed etc...
working 100%, once updated to 1.60c....
It's strange. On my device every time I try to install the cab file I get an error message while installing. I follow the instuctions as described...
Has anybody dealt with it?
Same problem here
Get a error when I start installing. Says that I should try a different location. I"ve tried my SD and PPC. Nothing works.
Download here
It's worked with my WM5V.1.60c!!!
But i use .dll files from mjames_84 and use .cab file from TofClock. I can send and recieve my MMS!!!
Thank you
I too tried mjames files and had problems.
However I also left mjames .dll files there deleted his cab file and used TofClocks' cab file and I now have working MMS.
Thanks all!
the dll in archive with my cab are same of mjames dll and ncruz dll , i've updated the rar

Where to download WM5 Messaging Client?

I've somehow goofed and deleted the default messenging client when I was trying out other alternatives. I ended up liking it better than the other solutions I tried and just want it back now. =\ Is there anywhere I can grab this (download, et cetera)? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Or, do I have to do a clean install to get it back? Is there a way to browse a ROM image to grab what I need from it? IE: the Messenging files only?
Thanks
Rireal
In Total Commander or whatever file explorer you use
In the address bar, Type:
Extended_Rom
Click on the Signed_OzPocketPC.Cab file.
Thanks for the reply. I was able to browe my extended ROM just fine but that file is not in there. I'm on a Wizard using a clean ROM which I would assume has something to do it.
Thanks
There is a link in the wizard forum that has the cab attached. Do a search there or try the Howard Forums T-Mobile Windows Mobile forum. I'm sure you'll find it....
Edit...
Here you go, about 3 post down...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271846&highlight=Oz+messenger+cab
Thanks, I've been unable to find the CAB file as of yet but I will keep searching.
edit: Thanks!
if you mean msn messenger then they prob only removed the shortcut
try looking in the win dir for the exe

How to get SMS from SIM?

My 8525 came in yesterday and I've been playing with it. It's a neat phone, and there's still alot to be discovered.
I was wondering how you can transfer or read SMS that are stored on the sim card? Is there a way?
I'm 100% sure that there are SMS on the SIM.
If you have WM5 AKU3.0 or above you should be able to read sms stored on SIM directly from the sms inbox (a long overdue feature)
If you don't have AKU3.0 or above install "SIM Messaging"
This will read all the messages on your SIM
If you want to copy them to your device install "Dopod smsBackup"
Dopod smsBackup is recognized by SIM Messaging as an export option
"SIM Messaging" & "Dopod smsBackup" can be found on here by using search
or you can find both programs (bottom of page)on the link below
http://www.pdamagician.com/wm2003sewm5software.html
Thanks Mister B.
How do I go about executing these files? They don't seem to be supported.

Did you download them from the link above !
If so the simMessaging is a cab file (looks like a zip file) so copy it straight to your device (storage card is a good place to put it) via active sync. Use the inbuilt file explorer on your PPC to find the cab file & then run it & it will self install.
The Dopod smsBackup is in a zip file, you will need to unzip this first on your desktop then transfer the Dopod smsBackup.cab file (choice of 2, chinese or English translation) to you PPC as you did for sim Messaging.
If your device states they are unsigned you could try installing "certification off" this allows you to install unsigned apps, can be found on the site above under WM5 Specific software I think !!
I have used these on WM5 myself, let me know how you get on.
That worked! Thanks!

AT&T Configuration Cab File

Does anyone know which cab file is used to configure the connection settings on the inital boot-up? I have looked through all the cab files in the windows directory, but the only cab files I could find related to connection settings were for removing and restoring the proxy... But nothing creating the different connections.
Basically, my goal is to create a cab file that can be used to create the AT&T settings for any ROM. Similar to what we had from Custel on the 8525. Any help is appreciated
Thanks,
when i flashed to the 0.7 rom it automatically downloaded the settings...dunno if it was something in the rom.
do a search for HTC connection wizard...this will configure att's settings automatically...this is what i use and it works everytime i change ROMs...
I have some cabs that have been posted on the forums for AT&T/Cingular. Here's what I have.
