iGuidance 4 Problem on HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris - Touch Cruise General

I had been using iGuidance4 on my old Samsung i730 off a 4GB SD Card. It worked very well . I used it syncing with a BT iTrekM5+ BT GPS Receiver (MTK Chipset) in my wife's car and with a Parrot 3400 LS-GPS (it is an intergrated Hands free BT and GPS receiver).
I have recently upgraded my phone to a HTC Touch Cruise and am using iGuidance4 now on a 6GB MicroSDHC card. It works flawlessly with my Parrot and iTrek Receivers.
The problem that I am having is that iGuidance4 is barely working with the Touch Cruise inbuilt GPS. The phone runs on a Qualcomm MSM7200 (Chipset) @ 400MHz,and has bulit in GPS. The iGuidance program works in fits and starts with a very, very long lag time while running, so as to render the program unusable.
I thought that there may be a problem with the intergrated GPS on the phone, but I don't think that this is the case, because the inbuilt intergrated GPS of the Touch Cruise works perfectly with both Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search.
I wonder if anyone might have any thoughts
or suggestions on this problem.
I have also posted this on the PDAPhoneHome website (http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/pdaphone-discussion/100265-iguidance-4-htc-touch-cruise-polaris.html)
Thanks
Turnip

I would like to hear any updates on your problem as I intended to use iGuidance as well, mainly for its Text-To-Speech and Navteq maps.

Does anyone else have any other experience of getting iGuidance 4 to work with Touch Cruise? There seems to be a workaround using GPSGate described in pdaphonehome, but is this the only way to get it working?

On the TC, open iGuidance, go to Tool, then GPS Options, then COM Port, and select Com4
Then, go to the same area and set the Baud Rate to 9600.
If for some reason you've changed your settings, on your TC go to the Start Menu, Settings, System, and then click on External GPS to find out what your settings are.

XDAIIi - which satnav software

Having just bought a an XDAIIi i was alarmed to find that tomtom does not run on it. What other options do i have for satnav software, i really like tomtom (from what i have used so far) and the traffic info is something i would like to be able to incorperate. Speed camera warning (currently using checkpoint) is a must.
suggestions and views greatly appreciated
TT5 works fine on my 2i.
With the phone turned on????? And making and recieving calls???
Confused as the tomtom site says that V5 is supported on the i, but if you search the tomtom site for questions in the support section, the i isn't mentioned
The odd problem with phone mast searching happened on my XDA as well as my 2i, but it isn't the 2i's specific fault. I was able to make and receive a call the other day on the way back from work TT5 running. Still not entirely sure if the storage card has anything to do with it as I'd always thought that was to blame for my woes - though if you dont show the POIs on the navigator map then it runs absolutely fine on any xda.
I had noticed the lack of mention on the TT website re the 2i as well, but I installed it no problems.
TT5 works perfect on my XDA2i with the pone switched on and i have tested it whilst powering off (TT5 running) Phone call made but havnt had the time to test for incoming call while TT5 is on.
I would 100% agree that the onl reason i see that TT5 wouldnt work would be the SD card as i have had major problems getting my old (Sent it back) SD card to work with most things,
It was a Cheapo 1gig card and as far as i can tell ... the XDA2i seems to have a problem with cards above 512mb , which is strange i admit but everyone has a problem with a 1Gig card and an XDA2i.
BTW i "borrowed" the 128mb card from my digital camera while i sent away my 1 gig card so that i could use tom tom 5 , and i have had not even one slow down or falure with the smaller card , where as the 1 Gig card would slow my XDA down daily on many occasions and sometimes worse.
Tom Tom 5 & XDA IIi
I have both the above products and they work perfect on a 1GB (Kingston) card, except when I make calls Tom Tom stops working after the call is ended. I had similar problems with Tom Tom 3 on both an XDA II & now the IIi. I find that if the phone is switched off or forwarded to voice mail everything is fine...
I have co-pilot 5 which works sweet - can have live traffic updates, download speed cameras and even finds house numbers in a street.
 Are you sure your problems aren't related to using a BT headset whilst driving with a BT GPS receiver ??? Basically if u have a BT GPS receiver it will be 'dropped' by the XDA when u use a BT headset. I have this problem and wish I had just opted for a wired GPS receiver to avoid this problem
I'm told that this program will fix the problem http://www.angeltowns.com/town/bluetooth/ but I haven't tried it yet.
not actually tried to use the bluetooth head set yet, and anyway i have a wierd GPS, thanks for the info though.
I may see if i can try copilot 5, i'm just worried about forking out the cash and its no good, or i don't like it. I have read that the the route mapping is a bit dodgy on co pilot, is this true?

Himalaya 3.5 - TT6 - BT

I've tried both Helmis and Ibashas 3.5 ROMS and they are brilliant, but I have one issue with both that I cannot solve.
How do I configure TT6 with BT GPS - I also use a BT headset.
Tried to follow the "old" TT5 manual for Universal and TT5 from this forum, but I cannot select outgoing port to 8.
I've tried outgoing port to 4 and program port 5 and it works ok.
Problem arises when I pair my BT headset also, if it is switched on, when I start TT there is no connection to the GPS, and consequently TT cannot find any satelittes.
Switch off the headset and restart TT and everything is fine again.
A few times it has happened that I get the BT pairing dialog box up after a while with TT started (headset on!) and has entered the passkey again.
So I wonder what settings I should use to be able to use both BT headset and TT6 with a BT antenna, anyone seen/solved this??????
I've tried 2 dif. BT headsets and 2 diff. GPS mice with both ROMS.
Best regards
/Henrik
Nobody experienced this or know how to solve it?
Waiting....
Ok, so nobody knows?
I will try on Buzznet then.

I read in tom tom website, tom tom 6 is not compatible with all device. For example in my case, I use O2 XDA II . Unfortunately tom tom 6 doesn't work with my device so I still use tom tom 5.21
Actually TT6 works exceptionally well with your device, which is the same as mine! - If it wasn't for this BT headset issue that is, it actually think it runs faster and smoother than it does on my JasJar!
But if you want to run it in landscape mode, you have to have either WM 2003 2. edition or even better WM5 in order to be able to use landscape (TT6 doesn't have that facility anymore).
And then you get the issue with the BT headset, which I reckon someone must know how to solve, even if it is a bit strange, nobody gives me any answers, not here and not on XDA-Developpers.
I would so much like to know if this is a known issue with this device and WM5, or if it is too trivial a question for anyone to bother to answer??????

TomTom 6 works perfectly on my xda 2, you are obviously on about the backlight issue, which can be fixed easily
Ok, but can you use a BT headset also?????

GPS mapping software

I'd like to run GPS mapping software with driving directions on my 2125. I'm currently running WM5, but am considering flashing it to WM6.
I have used TomTom and iGuidance on Pocket PC (WM6 Pro) phones and that is the type of software I'm looking for.
I have a Bluetooth GPS and a 2 GB memory card to hold maps. I just need to know what software works well on this device. I'd hate to spend $150 for some software that doesn't work correctly on this phone.
Is there a version of TomTom that runs on WM6 Standard and works with the 240x320 screen of the 2125?
I use TomTom 5.2 with WM6 and it works perfectly, I here some users are using 6 with a patch that allows you to use fake cursor because TomTom 6 is touch screen only.
Hope that helps.
I use BT GPS too (Holux Slim236) with Windows Live Search. It has its flaws but, works fine for what I use it. Flaws: 1. Image doesn't rotate as you turn. 2. No audible voice alerts(turn left, right, etc), just a beep beep when aproching. 3. Requires you to be connected to internet to update maps. Other than that, I feel its a great companion to have installed on phone, even for reference only. Never know when you'll need it.
I use Route66.

o2 XDA Serra + GPS + TomTom = :(

Hi All....
I have just installed TomTom for my phone, installed perfect, however i am having problems getting a GPS Signal (minor issue!)
I have 4 options of GPS receiver when i set the software up, two are bluetooth ones and two are wired ones. However, am i right in thinking that the xda serra (htc touch pro basically) has a gps receiver built in?
Can anyone point me in the right direction...I have set the baud rate to 4800 (default?) and told the tomtom software and the phone to use COM4.
Thanks in advance..

Fuze
I had same problem with my Fuze (Touch Pro). What I did was disable aGPS (it is in your settings-system-AGPS, both tabs set to disable) Baud rate was set at 38400 and com port 4.
I also tried to use Bluetooth GPS receiver and I got an option on Tomtom to use built-in GPS receiver. After that - no problems. I read quite a bit on xda-developers about it and have not seen anything as simple - reflashing radio etc - sounds to invasive with a risk of turning a nice neew phone into paperweight.
settings-system-AGPS
The XDA Serra does not have the above settings option, is there a cab file available that can be installed to allow you to turn off agps

Hi, have you any problems with the bluetooth after the installation of tomtom?
Could you try, please?
Thanks
Davide
the tomtom work fine with htc touch2
You shouldn't post warez links on here or you'll get barred!
If you like tomtom, have a search for Sygic Mobile Maps 10 - it's like a newer version of TomTom, maintains its simplicity whilst adding a few extra features and being a lot smoother, unlike Igo8 which is just too complicated...
sorry for noob question
Why do you need bluetooth to use GPS program? You just need to insall the program you want and launch it.

hi, i've downloaded these files but i dono how to install them. there's no .exe
i see setup.xml and more files with extension archive001,002,etc.
I've got this HTC TOUCH PRO2 special edition (T3320) from INDIA about a month back.(if i'm not wrong ,it's called HTC mega in europe ?)
Device information:
ROM: 1.32.1300.2 (72483)
ROM date: 12/16/09
Radio Ver: 3.50.25.15
At present i've installed Sygic. It detects the inbuilt GPS on com4 with baud rate of 4800. Everything works fine except: It doesn't catch any satellites. i kept it on for more than 45mins but no signal. Is there anyting i can do ?... i've downloaded this tom tom to try it out.
Please help me either to get the sygic working or installing this Tom TOm.
thanks in advance n

Looks like this is only a theme / skin for QVGA devices. TomTom is not freeware, so you need to buy it.
From what I read so far:
MEGA is the code name for this device, it should be oficcially called "HTC TOUCH2", not "HTC TOUCH PRO2". The latter sounds like a completely different device.
The normal edition should be T3333, T3320 is a low cost india edition without 3g, and without GPS. So I guess without a bluetooth connected GPS mouse you will not get GPS. Maybe through the GSM + Google location services you can get a rough location on google maps, but nowhere near accurate as necessary for navigation (needs GPS).
Sorry

I guess he was thinking about a bluetooth GPS mouse, not about the integrated GPS in the T3333 / Touch2 / MEGA.
Actually also Wifi and GSM can somehow be used to get a location, but not really accurate at all. Not comparable with GPS anyway, and not enough for navigation.

That is called A-GPS or assisted GPS. Can be useful in places with bad GPS signal as extra help.
thanks guys for the info...
By the way, anyone know which version of map is compatible with the TOMTOM 7.916? I found it was not able to recognize my map which worked fine in previous version of TOMTOM.
Thanks!

Is your map activated? Or do you have an old map? There are many maps which work with 7.916.......all have different codes for windows mobile use.....
As example I use Europe 845.2647

Yellowfever is right: your device T3320 does not have a gps (built-in) receiver, so you can't use tomtom nor sygic mobile without an external gps receiver(connected via bluetooth)!
