wm6 wmp stutter issue... - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

i posted this over in the excalibur forum (i'm using an s620) but haven't gotten any response so i thought i'd post here as well as i'd really like to resolve this and i can't find any thread indicating similar problems.
i'm using an s620 smartphone (not pocket pc) and i get a stutter in my audio once every song (at a random point during playback). it's just a short stutter but it happens every song.
i've tried the latest htc rom and the lates rogers rom thinking it might have something to with that... but it's not as it happens with both roms.
i've also tried playing back from both the mem stick and the phone itself and it's the same either way.
i've also tried playing back with both wmp and tcpmp (or whatever that other one is called). same in either program.
i also tried loading some 128k files on there and get the same results. i was running 320k files before so thought maybe that was the problem. unfortunately not.
would really appreciate some help in this one.
thanks!

anyone? please?

On my samsung i600 the same thing happens when the display is set to timeout in Settings>Display>Homescreen>Timeout.
Set this to Never and try again
By not with every song.

Problem WM5 1.60c00WWE+TomTom5+Win Media Player

I Guys,
First of all this forum rulessss.....
I've upgraded my Himalaya (QTEK2020) with rom from Buzzdev.net:
http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,100/func,fileinfo/id,4/
After taking care of the initial TT5 problems: Backlight and crashes... It was up to a test drive. Everything works like a charm, but if i want to listen to mp3 while using the TT5, the sound breaks every 5 secs a return... Have you experienced this problem too...
Thanks
RR
Maybe it's a matter of CPU usage? Have you tried overclockingyour device?
I have a favor to ask you: could you send me your welcomehead.96.png located in your \Windows on your device? I'm looking to get the splash screen included in the 1.60c. Drop it here on the forum.

Sound Issues - Not Radio related!

Hi,
Is anybody else experiencing issues with losing sound on their phone? I have been experiencing this on a number of different roms and initially put it down to an incompatible radio, but I have sinced flashed back to one of Dutty's roms (including radio) and it happened again. I have now flashed back to the stock bootloader and HTC rom and it has happened again!
I am at a bit of a loss now - am in the process of hard resetting my phone to see if it happens on a bare device as I had a number of apps installed although none of them had caused this problem before that I am aware.
Would be interesting to know if anyone else is getting this - don't know if its possible that any of the recent radio/rom releases could have done something permanently damaging to cause this. Will be sending mine back to HTC if it happens again, unless someone identifies a fix?!?
Cheers!

happened to me yesterday. i had to hard reset and my phone still isn't customized 24hrs later.
Do you remember what apps you had installed?
I'm starting to think all of this has something to do with MSVC.
well i have consistently been using version 19209 whilst having these problems. Going to try 17913 again and see how that goes.
Mine too
I've been getting this alot lately, too. I think it's either MS VC or S2U2 1.01, or a combination of them.
I've done the same thing, flashed multiple ROMS and radios, but I've stayed in the WM6.1 family. I was running Confused Stu's Vista 1.2 forever and it suddenly started doing that - loosing sound. I went to 1.3 and then over to a Dutty build, and have now settled on L26_WM6.1_PROV4_(3.51.502.0_WWE)_Multimedia... This time I went slow and only loaded a few apps at a time. I thought it was Calendar+... But I don't have that on here yet.
It seems like it ran fine until I put S2U2 on here, but like I say, I use MS VC to announce everything so maybe it's some action there that didn't happen until after I put s2u2 on there, or maybe coincidence.
I wonder if anyone else is seeing this? I think I'll start over without S2U2 - even tho it rocks! - and chill a week.
Do you use S2U2? Do you use Caller ID in S2U2? How about slide 2 answer, slide 2 end key options? What about blank screen on talk option?
Thanks,
H
s2u2 v1.01 could be the culprit as i have been using it. After slowly reloading apps this morning sound had gone again, and one of the last to go on was s2u2. I don't think MSVC is the problem as it has never done it before plus its cooked into a lot of new roms, whereas s2u2 isn't. Am going to uninstall s2u2 and see what happens. It was one of the last things I put on and sound had been stable before that.
Im getting this issue as well, what radio are you guys running just out of interest, im running duttys 6.1 build 19199 with radio 1.65.14.06
I haved the same problem and resolve it by flash ing TNT 19202 Series PRO with radio 1.65.14.06. Best regards.
Well, the issue came back on the stock rom when I bit the bullet and installed a slightly older version of S2U2 (0.99p)!
I have now reflashed Hard-SPL and the latest Dutty Rom (with MSVC included) and have resisted putting S2U2 on and so far, so good!!
Hey, Zaf, do you run S2U2 or MS VC?
I flashed back to the AT&T Tilt stock ROM (downloaded from HTC web site, incl the radio) and reloaded S2U2 1.01 and MS VC. I lost sound within a couple of hours.
I did a hard reset and have not installed EITHER... I plan to run for a day like this, then put MS VC back on for the weekend, and then S2U2 after that.
I think it's S2U2 and I think it's been around since .99p. But I think 1.01 is worse than .99p or 1.0.
Well, at least we're narrowing down the variables!
Hey, everyone - watch http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390977
for a similar discussion.
I flashed TNT 19202 Pro thus morning and the sound died few hours later again... Don't use S2U2. I posted more here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2207600&postcount=18
I have lost sound 3 times, it is only through the speaker though, my bluetooth headset continues to work. Once I flashed a new rom to fix it, the other time it fixed itself over a few hours. The third time is happening now!
I have never used S2U so it can't be that. Have been using Dutty's roms, my radio is currently 1.58.16.27.
are we talking about sound in calls, if so i have been experiencing calls dropping and other people can hear me fine but then it suddenly goes quiet for the other caller and they can barely hear me? is this a fault with my kaiser or to do with flashing with custom ROMs.
I think we need to be very clear here what the symptoms are of a specific problem.
My symptoms were that sound would initially be ok after flashing a new ROM (whether it had MSVC cooked in or not) and then I would go through the process of installing my 'regular' apps which has always included S2U2.
Then, at some point after doing this, all sound would disappear - from the device and also during calls (interestingly, during calls, the other party could not hear me either).
I cannot explain for one moment the issues that people who don't use MSVC/S2U2 - some of these might be explainable by radio issues but I am not an expert by any means so would not be prepared to blame that!
All I know for certain is that up until recently I could use MSVC 1.6 build 17913 alongside S2U2 0.99 with NO issues at all - this is why I think that MSVC 19209 combined with S2U2 is the reason.
One other thing, I have not tried S2U2 on its own, without using MSVC, mainly because I am fed up with flashing! Perhaps someone else could confirm or deny if this has caused problems?!?
Yes, my symptoms are EXACTLY as the captain describes in his post... Everything fine for a little while after flashing, but soon after I get all my apps reloaded I call someone, or someone calls me, and there is no sound. No audio at all from the speaker, bluetooth, or in-call speaker. The caller can't hear me, either. I have to soft reset or power cycle to get sound back but it doesn't last long.
All day I've run with the AT&T stock tilt ROM from HTC's web site, still hard SPL'd, and I did not load MSVC, S2U2, or HTC Home yet.
R 1.27.14.09
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.62.00.00
I have run all day with no sound problems. I am now about to plunge and I think I'll put MSVC on there first and run another day, only because on a whole it's cooler than S2U2. Lets see what tomorrow brings.
Hey, I just found this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391262
I am using an older build of MSVC... I grabbed the latest build and will give that a shot first. What build are you using? I WAS using 1.6.17913 but aparently it is old. I just grabbed 1.6.19209
Its interesting that you're seeing the issue with the older build of MSVC as I never had it with that build, although I can't remember if I used that build with the latest version of S2U2.
My phone has gone a whole night now with no issues without S2U2 installed, so I think that proves there is a link. Not sure if I can be bothered trying S2U2 without MSVC as, like you, I prefer having MSVC over S2U2.
What is also interesting is that there has not been much (one post I think) mention of this on the S2U2 thread. I may bring it up...
The trouble is, in 6 weeks of trying to deal with the problem by re-flashing ROMs and radios, I would still have the issue. Even though I never install MSVC nor S2U2. I even had the problem on a "clean" setup - just the ROM, I setup Internet connection, ActiveSync wireless Exchange and Note2Self - that's it nothing else. And I would lose sound within 3 to 20 hours with this setup. That's the cleanest setup I could get - I don't need my phone if I don't have Note2Self )
Just saw another of the symptoms... Another thing it would do would be to just crash after a call. So hitting END leaves the screen stuck with whatever's on it, and no way to get off that dialer screen. OK doesn't work, though when I push my VC button I hear it beep. This just happened after a call.
Anyway, I did a power cycle and it's back now. But I do not have S2U2 on here, though the MS VC lady is getting a real workout today... Anyway, sergeb will still tell us that neither app matters, anyway.
Uggh. Still resisting urge to put S2U2 on here.

No lag here - I tried WMP, CorePlayer and even the HTC stock player.
I tried it while browsing in Opera, File explorer and other applications.
I'm on 1.90.401.1 WWE
No mp3 lag here....
Yup!
Experienced this with both the Diamond and the Touch Pro while using CorePlayer and Wmplayer for mp3 playback...
It's not bad enough to be annoying tho!
Occurs very intermittenly!
many users noticed that it occurs every 5 minutes EXACTLY!!! very strange... pls keep posted your experiences..
I use the HTC today player during long times while jogging and I can confirm I havent had music lag....
What you talk about seems a background process/thread/service that execute some heavy but short task each 5 minutes. Maybe a cpu monitor can help you....
I had a lag on pocket tunes and now have switched to pocket player and now no lag.
I had no lag with the standard windows media player (just hate it)
By the way, I had a Omnia for a short time and that had terrible lag but great quality when it played !!
Ciao, D.
I have a lag problem on my TP.
I'll check if the problem is repetitive (every 5min you said? strange!) and let you know.
I've observed that if I'm listening CorePlayer Mp3 (128-256 doesn't matter) then any action required more time to be acomplished - generally TP performance are below level and starting to be annoing. But this is normal situation I suppose because mp3 decompression required processing time. The same when I'm starting additional application, sometimes music has a one sec lag. The same when I'm estabilishig connection for 3G or Edge.
Regards
B.
the lag is present without obvious performance load except MP3 playing which is in normal, doesnt matter what player you are using, advance task manager doesnt show any process which could make this laggy situation everything looks just fine and then after 5minutes skip and no special processor load at all...maybe you could provide any suggestion which process tracker could I use??? it should be process or just service...
I've had some annoying lafg on mp3 playback both with Mortplayer, TF3D player and coreplayer.
I've nevertheless noticed that the lag tends (often) to disapear when you turn on the TP and then back off (I repeat, most of the time, not 100% of the time).

Yeap, the small break issue is present on TP too, unfortunately. The break is about <=1/2sec. It happen even if I'm not using any application.
Using Lyrics Magic.
Same problem here with my TP, regardless which player i use. A small break every 4-5 minutes.
rom?
what roms are tp users using that are experiancing this problem? i have the same issue using the shipped rom on my htc fuze. im getting ready to flah a new rom, so im praying that somehow att bloatware is the culprit although unlikely.
Stock Sprint ROM here, sorry.
Some quick testing seems to indicate that Kinoma (Free)Play greatly reduces the incidence and severity of the glitches, can anyone else confirm?
From my experience it seems to happen when my reception isn't too great and the phone switches between HSDPA > E > G. Not only music but sometimes the entire OS starts to lag when it switches between the different signals.
H (3G) <---> E causes music to stop !
As behrouz sated, I also noticed the problem in low signal areas exactly when the phone switches from H (3G) <---> E and viceversa. Could it be a service that starts or turns off when this switch occurs? Anyways, I tried forcing WCDMA as the only network type under Band tab in Phone settings but then when Im in low signal areas I get no connection at all. Does someone knows a workarround? Any ideas?
glitch in airplane mode
I have the stock Sprint ROM and get a glitch (don't know how often) using TF3d player even on airplane mode.
i get huge lag but thats when im using bluetooth stereo

Pandora keeps crashing on my Ozone (WM 6.1)

I recently found the .cab file for the Pandora app. which was originally intended for devices using the Windows Mobile 6 OS. I used it on my Ozone knowing full well that there isn't a tailored Pandora app. for the WM 6.1 OS. Pandora doesn't give my device access to any downloads since the website doesn't support my phone. I had to download the Pandora program i currently have from a third party vendor ( a link from the forums here).
It works fine until about 3 minutes in to EVERY song it disconnects. The Pandora program never leaves the screen but the music ends and there is a prompt notifying me of Pandora reconnecting. Once reconnecting a new song starts and the whole thing repeats.
It probably isn't the network. I've tried turning off my data and just using Wi-Fi and still get the same result.
Anyone hear of anything like this? Any ideas? I'm a newb. This is my first smart phone. I have no idea what is going on right now.
bump.... same problem here
I am having the same issue with my Ozone.
Same problem here
You nailed it... about 3 minutes and then it reconnects. Streams AWESOME otherwise.
I figured the suggestion in a post I found about changing the tcp port would fix it, but I couldn't get Advanced Configuration to work on the ozone... Installed .net compact 3.5 framework and it still gave an error when starting it up (one that was much more complicated then just ".net compact 3.5 isn't installed). So, I never got to try changing the tcp port.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
Scratch that...
Ok, so I think I figured out that it has been coincidence that it reconnected the first several times after 3 minutes. The real culprit seems to be emails. I just listened to a full song (greater than 3 minutes) and had no problems. Now, listening to a new song, my phone picked up an email and then a matter of seconds later pandora started reconnecting.

[Q] Zune player locking up

I'm running the Zune player on an htc 7 pro with stock Mango. The issue I'm seeing is that at the end of some tracks it stops playing. According to the display, the track is in play mode but stuck on the last second of the song. If I FFW to the next track the phone locks up and I have to reset. This happens randomly when playing songs in sequence and is not related to specific tracks. If I switch to random it happens after the first track. I have the impression, that Zune can't find the next track sometimes.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions where to start trouble shooting?
Thanks in advance for any help.
PS: Admin: if this is in the wrong place please move it.
I'm having the same issue, we need a fix, this is annoying especially since I have an Otterbox
After checking the Microsoft support site, I found this is a common problem with htc phones. Here is the link:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...71e-9822-5c7a44746390?page=1&tm=1325857578704
In short, MS says it's a firmware problem and htc says it's a OS problem. MS is working on a patch.
The workaround is to use a BT headset instead of wired earphones.
