About TomTom

Hi,
I am a recent owner of a Touch Cruise, to replace my too big Athena.
On my X7500 I was using TomTom navigator 6 brought by HTC with a one-town demo map, that's why I bought France map on TomTom site.
So, yesterday I bought my Cruise in one of my phone operator's store, which is SFR in France. And my **#[email protected]* operator removed tomtom software because it has its own gps software (monthly costing about 15$).
I would like to find / download / buy only TomTom software, because I already have the map for it, but I don't find anyway o get it !
Even the TomTom software setup cab of my Athena's programs disc does not want to be installed on my Polaris...
May someone tell me how I could get a copy of TomTom executable only ?? (if possible in french)

I´m sorry, but you can´t buy the TomTom Navigator stand alone version. TomTom only sells it with a map package.
But you can install your for your old PDA activated TomTom version on your new Polaris, if half a year has gone after the activation on your old PDA.

Thanks for your response, but as I said my Athena's version of TomTom does not want to be installed on the Polaris, saying that my ROM is in a wrong version : I suppose that the HTC TomTom exe installer is restricted to Athena ROMs

Your TC is delivered with a CD containing Tomtom sofware.

Well, yes and no.
If the operator removed the the software from the TC, the answer is no.
If the operator removed the CD as well, he removed some dedicated HTC software like backup and GRPS monitor which is on the Tomtom CD, the answer is yes

The good answer is Yes : the operator removed the CD containing TomTom software and Spb software... I only have the ActiveSync CD

VDA GPS ft. Toshiba Portege G710

Hello,
I have been a week of the VDA GPS Vodafone, same device as Toshiba Portege G710
It is the standard Windows Mobile 6 installed, no touchscreen. (Smartphone)
It has a right trackball, there are also pictures:

It has the same size as the HTC S620, has 260MHz, no WLAN, but GPS in it.
My questions now, because I have absolutely nothing could find on this device:
Which company is building the device? HTC builds not.
Which GPS chip was consumed?
Where a still another Rom for this device, or any support pages?

I'm also keeping an eye on the G710, especially because of the integrated GPS and the small keyboard. However, one thing makes me wonder:
Can I use any navigation application with the Portégé G710?
Although the Portégé G710 is GPS enabled, it is not possible to use any standard navigation software on the G710. Details on which navigation packages are compatible with the Portégé G710 will be available soon.

It would be nice to know whether TomTom or a similar offline navigation software would work. I cannot imagine that "it is not possible"

This device is cheap, price and quality. I am now back to my htc s620!
Tomtom5: Screen black, the device is not stopped, but the screen is black. The same
with the core player: Screen black ...
Tomtom6: Screen not black, nice, but Tomtom detect no GPS Hardware
Route 66: works (but i can not live with this slow gps software !)
This device has many bugs ...

Could you check out any other navigation software such as Navigon?
By the way: I don't think somebody will pay 300€ on eBay, if you can get it for 230€ at Vodafone directly.

My Toshiba G710 was provided with Copilot Live 7. This software is very good.
I'm very happy with this phone, the Gps receiver is so fast even without a-gps !
Unfortunately, he have not WM6.1 and Toshiba says "it is not foreseen"

I learned that some of you have updated to WM 6.1 already.
From where to get the firmware update? Any link or download file is appreciated...

TomTom 7.451 + Maps + TMC RDS?

Hey people,
I've had my touch pro for a few days and im LOVING it!
I installed TomTom and got me some maps, but now I was wondering if I can activate TMC via RDS of the FM Radio.. since HTC has one built-in!
TMC is the traffic radio and gives information about accidents and roadblocks etc.. it would be very useful and FREE!

Have been a big fan of tomtom for more 4 years, I never hear of tomtom and "activate TMC via RDS of the FM Radio" Tomtom does provide plus services (weather, traffic, etc...) but it costs 10$/month; however, they still not allow to run on tomtom 7 yet.

They made TMC devices for TomTom Go, and said it wasnt going to be available for the PDA (they were talking about TT6).
So im not sure.. maybe if some skilled scripter would make a script.. ill mail tomtom to ask fro more info..

If I'm not mistaken, TMC for Tomtom is downloaded via GPRS, not with RDS.

True and by the way for FM radio use you need the headset to be plugged in...

I know the chipset in our phones supports TMC but im not sure you can have both TMC and the radio features available at the same time, if not it would make sense for HTC to enable the fm radio instead as it is a saleable feature of the phone (much more so than TMC for most of their customers)

The cab can be found on the forum - do a search for TTN7 but you will have to pay for maps.
Please don't ask members for free maps unless you want to be banned from the forum.

HTC HD2 and hypergps

Hi there,
Has anybody tried Hypergps on a HD2?
I have on my (dutch) LEO, but whatever cofiguration I use, I cannot get it to find TMC in test mode. Anybody any ideas?

Unfortunately HyperGPS will not work on the Leo until someone adds support for the Leo in the GFMAPI, which HyperGPS relies on.
The Leo uses a different API to access the FM hardware. So it's not even sure it's possible to get TMC out of it.

Hello,
du you test this tweak => Enables FM radio Deemphasis?
Or you can kill all services (Albummanager [volume control, ..],..) with cleanRAM and test it.
In old HTC Sense ROMs i have this problems..

Same here, seems HyperGPS doesn't work with the radio api in the HD2, alas. I know too litlle of these things to make it work, so I guess I'll have to wait and donate...

What on Earth is "Radio Deemphasis"???

Problem with Navigon 7.4.2/.3 and GNS TrafficBox FM9BT-C

Hello everybody!
I`ve got a problem to get TMC Information with Navigon (v 7.4.2 an 7.4.3) and the GNS TrafficBox FM9BT-C.
The Connection between my Leo and the TMC Receiver is no problem.
But when I start Navigon, I'm getting no data with TMC Information and the special TMC icon/symbol is missing too.
I think that the Problem is perhaps the wrong configuration in the "UserSettings.xml".
So here is my configuration:

Can anybody help and tell me the wrong Configuration? Or is there an other(general) problem with TMC and the Leo (i.e. Hypergps)?
I'll be happy about every hint!
