i bought my HTC just 2 months ago, no scratches but my phone takes long periods to get into an application, and sometimes when i write messages it just freezes... actually it freezes all the time. and on top of that it takes the wifi when is available but the internet pages do not load. nor the gprs.... can anyone help me please!!!!!

well u can make clear Storage so times it fix the problems , but u will lose data on the c: drive (where windows are no SD-memory)
Start>setting>look for "clear Storage"

Maybe you can close some applications thru start - settings - system - memory and the 3th page. Otherwise a soft reset, this resets you're phone but not the data like "clear storage".
even after soft reset the phone is very slow and also when i try to write messages it just freezes... if i completely reset the phone im going to lose a program from which i can write in chinese... so are there any alternatives? i erased all the temp pages from the internet but i think i have too many contacts. (+100 contacts) could it be bc of that?

hey there i had this same problem, my phone kept freezing so i returned i to vodafone who told me they were going to send it away for a new software flash. once it comes back ill let you know
i hope that its a softwere problem not a hardwere so
give me the full info for ur device and i will try to look about a new software the same as u have.(i.e HTC touch ,speed Ram and provider,maybe i can help u
P.S : if u have a warranty go for it it maybe coused by a hardwere failer and u dont want to make it cost u much.

you should use pim backup

look when a messages comes to your pda , it goes to inbox ! if you reset your phone , after rebooting that message is gone !

Are you doing hard reset..or soft reset... cause unless you're doing hard reset I don't understand why your message would be gone.... I don't know why you'd want to do hard reset that often.
But, I use PIM Backup... I'll attach it below... it's not even an installation.
It's just executable that you execute..
Great thing about this is, you can schedule it to run everyday.. so, at worst you only loss a day worth of data.
Also, it backs up bunch of other stuff besides messages... like contacts, call history, and emails.. stuff.

this is the reason that i post them hear !
and about PPC backup , its not about hard reset , its about soft reset !
as you know , when a message comes , phone keeps it in inbox but it will save it after minutes !

I don't understand this at all. If I get an SMS and IMMEDIATELY do a soft reset, the SMS is still in my inbox when the phone reboots. I just tried this and it works. There is no "data loss" as you claim. The only way you lose messages that come in is if you hard reset (and then you lose everything).
So I don't understand why you think you lose messages. And as you said, its just like it was on WM5.
Again, I just tested this. I had my daughter send me an SMS. As soon as I got notified (and without going to read it) I did a soft reset on my phone. When my phone rebooted, her message was still sitting in my Inbox.
If I misunderstood what you are asking for, then can you tell me how to reproduce what you are seeing (and be detailed. Your fast posts with little information are hard to understand at times).

but if you read it , 2 happening occurs after soft reset :
1) the message will be gone
2) it will be there but its unread
you see ? its like when you are writing sth in the MS Word , and you reset your pc , your document may be save or not at that moment , cuz word save it on periodic-specific time ... so it could be saved or not !
i have this problem with messaging too !
some times i soft reset it and i will have my unread messages that i've read them 5 minutes ago ... ( its the good part )
and the bad part is sometimes i lost those !
but if i soft reset after several minutes ( around a quarter ) , i will have them like when i was going to soft reset

I'm thinking that this might be happening because you're using the pin hole to soft reset. Use the power button on the top to shut it down and then reboot, unless your locked up for some reason, and that will probably stop happening. have someone send you an sms and then reset it that way and see if it still happens.
i think that will help , but it seems that most of people dont have this problem , even with holding stylus in the hole
Think of your wizard as a PC, using the power buton is like clicking start and then shutdown and using the reset hole is like pulling the plug while it's still on. Somethings bound to get lost if you pull the plug and usually does. You should really only use the reset hole if your phone is locked and you can't use the power button (that's why they make the hole so small )

Im new here my son was given an xda exce there was a lot of ames on it last night he was playing coman and conquer, problem is this morn he let one of his mates on it an he was trying to get to the games an we believe he has reset it he said he had to press 1234 an yes, so we think that all the games that were on are not there or if they are we cant fin them?
Is there a way in going back to resetting it before my sons mate did this? i apologise if i am not explaing myself properly i really am total nooob with comps or phones, we dont have a manual,just cables
any help would be geatefully recieved

That sounds very much like a Hard Reset, he probably found the "Clear Storage" icon and pressed it - this will wipe everything on the device, unless you have a seperate backup of the device you can do nothing to recover the lost data and programs/ games. If you have the original software on the PC you could re-install them - Mike
Sounds like your Son's friend is a real A-hole. If the name "Clear Storage" isn't enough of a warning, it also states:
"Clear storage will make all of your data lost, and reset all settings to manufacture default. Do you want to proceed?"
then, as further protection, requires you to enter '1234' then tap 'YES'.
And your Son only gave it to him to play a game. In the future I'd steer clear of that trainwreck of a 'friend'. How much other stuff of your Son's has this 'Friend' trashed?

just brought a game from t-mobile was playin on it, but now when i try to go on it again through jblend, it wont let me and says (JBLEND FAILED TO RUN THE MIDLET BECAUSE MEMORY IS DANGEROUSLY LOW. PLEASE CREATE MORE SPACE BY REMOVING SOME FILES).
my phone has just returned from repair and has nothing on it, just like buyin from new. i have installed msn messenger, windows live and live search, n tht is it no pictures or music or anything.

i had the same problem, try a hard reset, sometimes when files get deleted it leaves the odd code behind, this code tells the fone that theres only X amount of space left. VERY annoying. i like to call them ghost files.
so try hard reset and if u have a storage card or storage on fone ( try not to use the fones memory!) save it to the space storage and run from there..u dont need to run from device.
or sometimes try a handset reboot. fixes 70% (imo) of problems..
full reboot...handset switch ON, remove battery WITH handset switched on, wait 5sec then pop battery back in and turn on.... this mite solve the prob.
(full handset reboot works for - drop calls,slow fone speed,interenet probs,sms failing,poor sig,freezing fone,etc)

I've got some problems with my prophet and finding ways to fix them:
1. My camera, If I set it to save pictures to main memory, everything is fine. But when I set it to save pictures to my SD AData 1gb, when I take pics, the camera shows the previews as normal, but if I press power button to set my phone to sleep mode, and turn on again, the picture in the preview is gone and isn't saved into my SD. I lost heaps of good fotos just because it is my habit to turn off the phone by using that power button.
I tried to use the HTC Camera 4.11 (ELF/HTC Touch) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314798 Seems like the problems has been fixed but I just dont want to use that software due to some battery problems...
Changing another SD card can't help.
So is there any way to solve my camera issue ?
*Note: It's not a ROM's bug coz I tried with 4 difference ROMs but the problem still there.
2. The Vista ROM I'm using may be has a bug in the SMS system. It doesn't get and save the SMS centre mobile number. I always have to do it handly whenever I restart my phone. And seems like the Wifi has some connection problems, too. It hardly connects to my network and sometime suddenly disconnect its self.
I'm using Vodafone New Zealand.
By the way, any suggestion for the best Vista touched ROM ?

hey guys i installed manilla 2d on my verizon xv6900 aka htc touch and it took like ten years for the phone to start from being off and programs opened slowly. well i tried to uninstall this thing and it wont! my phone is running slow and i cant dtand it, also now i cant recieve or send pix messages! i read that a hard reset will put the phone back to the way it came.... before i do the hard reset i need to know if its going to clear my phone number and data plan off the phone and make me have to go to verizon to get it all setup again?? im waiting to reset it tillbi have an answer because they rnt open right now n i dont want to b without a phone. thanks guys i hope u can help me out

A hard reset will only erase any info that you put on the phone, not any info or services that came with the phone. See my reset guide in my sig.

seems to me like its going to erase my number and data plan forcing me to have to go to verizon and have it reactivated because that stuff doesnt come on the phone when u get it.
